Nice place to go if you're just looking for pool and possibly some light action.  As someone else said, the condition of the tables, balls and decor could definitely use some updating, but overall it's a decent place to play.  There was some light music playing from a TV when I went, and the owner (?) was a friendly guy.

Price before 6pm is 7.20/hr, and after 6pm the rate becomes ~8.40/hr I think.  These prices are pretty reasonable, considering it's Boston, but still not as cheap as Flattop Johnny's on Sundays (half price pool all day, so 6.00/hr).  Compared to Flattop Johnny's, however, I still prefer playing at Columbia, since you actually have adequate space to cue (and the chalk isn't red..)

Not really a good place to go with a group, unless your entire group is serious about pool.  If you're thinking of just heading out for a night of pool with friends, you're probably better off just checking out a place like Jillian's.  But if you're just looking to get some practice in and maybe a few cheap sets, then definitely check out Columbia.

You just have to go if you at all appreciate the game of pool. One of the oldest pool halls still around (actually a true billiard hall) in the nation, if not the oldest. Old School.

    c. 6 6-pocket tables and c. 4 for carom games and you can find a good cue. Cheap: best in the city.

Take the 17 to Uphams Corner from Andrews (Red Line).

Don't get sharked - really good players seem to abound.
