I can sit on international streets on kiddie-sized plastic chairs, eat off a plastic table with food scraps littered on the ground, creepy critters scutterring across my feet, and still enjoy a meal.

    Restaurant ONLY:
Eh, doesn't meet my clean-freak needs, but if the food had made up for it - I wouldn't care if I had to sit and eat on filthy, dirty tabletops. That day I was craving for taco al pastor...the seasoned pork with a slice of pineapple. I was so sad that they only have asada (beef) and pollo (chicken). No pork?!?! Compromised and went with asada. Fell short of something spectacular even when drenched in tomatillo green and hot red sauce. Flavorless tacos, but if you need a belly filler and a siesta afterwards. Then, this is for you.

I'm a huge fan of hole in the wall taco joints. This is not that in appearance, but it translates nicely in the food. I visit about once a week to get my taste of Mexico. This place is first and foremost a grocery. Far too few people are scared to walk away from the ever growing line for some of the most authentic tacos and burritos in Indianapolis. If you ever cook anything from south of the border, this is the place to get all the great ingredients you need at a quarter (yeah, seriously) of the places with ads on tv. Their meat and seafood counter turn over frequently. And, their produce is great too. I'm kind of a nut for good hot sauce, and this is the only place to buy it.

That being said... Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Pollo, and Chorizo are great in taco or burrito form. You can find better tortas elsewhere. I can't leave without their delicious corn on the cob either. Couldn't care less what they put on there, I just know it makes my mouth feel good. Get yourself a Horchata if you really want to dive in the deep end, though. Oh, and about that line, it moves very quickly and is well worth the wait. You may not find a seat, but that's what carry-out's all about.

I feel bad I have to write this, but you can get along just fine as a gringo here. You would be well served to learn some food Spanish though.

The restaurant is really dirty and there are not many things on the menu. It's really authentic but kind of grody.

Now, as for the supermarket: GLORIOUS. HALLELUJAH!!! There are just rows and rows and rows of Mexican foods you cannot get ANYWHERE else, I felt like I was in heaven! The best place EVER!!!!!

P.S. Just get over the awkwardness of being the only non-Hispanic in the entire building. :P
