Carreno's Pizza

Tried this place since I was on a budget. And I found a flyer on my lobby floor offering a large 1 topping pizza for $10 w/free delivery. So even if it blows, no big loss. I call it in and even though they said an hour for delivery, it was way shorter. The pepperoni was good. The sauce was a little on the sweet side but still not bad. The cheese was good and they didn't skimp with it. And the crust was thin and crispy. It wasn't a kick ass pizza, but for a large 1 topping pizza with steak fries and a liter of pop for $14 delivered, it's a great value.

We've ordered from Carreno's twice now, and I have to admit that I'm impressed.  The first pizza was their "Hot and Meaty" with sausage, pepperoni and jalapenos.  It was a darn good pizza, too.  Nice thin, crisp crust, good sauce, good meats, and not too much cheese which kept it from being greasy.  The second one was the classic "Special" which generally means some variation on the sausage, onion, mushroom and green pepper combo.  Again, everything was properly cooked and really tasty without overwhelming in any area.

The large (14") size was more than enough for two, and came in at just over $20 delivered, and the order arrived in well under an hour (good and hot, too!) with a free liter of RC on the side.  This isn't The Best Pizza Ever, but it's a good, honest Chicago pizza with a generous amount of good quality ingredients at a reasonable price.

The menu lists a lot of basics:  Pasta, sandwiches, salads, whole dinners, sides, a few Mexican specialties, and desserts, none of which we've tried yet, but on the strength of those two pizzas, I expect we will be ordering other things from there.  Updates as they are warranted.
