I'm not into the big thick 10lb. burgers that seem to be popular around these parts. Let me just say, I'm what some of these yokels might call a "Yank"; it's about quality not quantity. This place has some serious appeal just from the looks of it- bunch of carnivores bumpin' elbows in a little, red airplane hangar for an old school diner cheese burger and a sloppy scoop of meat soup. Meat soup is the best description I can come up with for their totally original, delicious Chili, which I was advised by the enthusiastic regular next to me to add the homemade hot sauce to, along with the staple saltines. A complete stranger referred me there a few days prior for the Chili, for which I now know Casper's deserves a 5 star rating alone, but I descovered my new favorite local burger-joint in the process. ...There was something going on with a bowl of plain old fritos chips and the guy scrunched in next to me. I'm not sure what that was all about. I made a joke about how "this place is famous for its awesome fritos", but no one laughed, so maybe it actually is. I suppose I'll find out next time. The waiter way-talked me in to a big bowl of homemade, fresh-baked blackberry cobbler at the end of my meal, and he was way-right to do so as it was the proverbial "nail in the coffin" to my absolute zero-complaints meal. It came out to $12 with the cup of coffee and a fair tip (-+$4??). If you don't like the probability of a little wait or other eaters in close proximity - stay away. I got the feeling you're not welcome. Good job Springfield! I've found something besides bass-pro and o'rielies and 10 walmarts that you can consider unique to you. And you can definitely be proud of this.
Review Source:Caspers is a neat little place. Â Drawn to the place by other reviews. Â I had the Casperito. Â A tortilla filled with chili, cheese, sour cream lettuce and tomatoes. Â Very tasty. Â My coworker had a frito pie and a cheeseburger. Â The food was pretty good and the staff was great. Â Genuinely friendly, genuinely hippie. Â As we left, it looked like Jerry Garcia sweeping the floor! Â Check it out....it's a cool place.
