I know, I know...Every time I say, "Let's go to Chevys!" everybody cringes...I can't help it. I love the Happy hour, Margaritas are my favorite here. The chips and salsa are yummy!  The fajitas are scrumptious..Crab enchiladas, yummmoo! I've been to many Chevys in my life-time and....

Will say the customer service here at this specific location needs improvement for sure...They take too long to bring you menus, water etc...my food was brought to me cold once but I was soo hungry I ate it. Didn't feel like complaining and waiting another 30 minutes for the sampler.

I am still a Chevys faithful but maybe not of this particular location!

I came here for a late dinner with my girlfriend because it was one of the only options open. I hate living in my area because eats after 8:30pm are hard to come by. So we came and they were still doing happy hour which was cool. The waitress we had was very nice and attended to us right away but as the night progressed she dissappeared so minus points. We got some combo plates with tacos, enchiladas and tamales and they were good. I always enjoy eating chips and salsa while I wait for food and during my meal. The food was average, not the greatest mexican food but you gotta go to hole in the wall places to get that but this was decent since we were starving. We got margaritas as well and they were half price so that was good. The bar area was almost pitch black however so I couldn't see anything so that was weird so minus points as well. Overall a chill place to go to get a quick bite to eat just don't expect the world and you'll be fine which is the general rule with most chain restaurants.

In the past I have been very unimpressed with the service at this Chevys. But tonight our server was Steven. He was very attentive. He had a personality and he even smiled! Our chips and salsa were always full and so were our drinks. So from now on I will sit in the bar and make sure that Steven is our server. Thank you Steven, maybe management could have the other servers mirror you for training.

I was in the East bay on business and happened to be staying in the Hotel across the street, I was so happy to see Chevy's a stone throws away. I ate there two day's in a row. I do not like to dine alone so I always look for a spot at the bar. My first visit was a Wednesday very early evening and the bar was packed so reluctantly I took a seat at a booth in the bar.
As far as the food it was very good nothing authentic but well prepared and inviting. The salsa was incredible I could have made a meal out of it alone. The server was a young girl (wish I could remember her name) who took great care of me so my experience that night was good despite sitting solo in a booth for five.
Happy with my first experience I went back Thursday happy to see a spot at the bar.
I sat down and was immediately welcomed by  young girl who took my drink order but did not offer a menu, I had to ask for it and for the television to be turned on.She was attached to her cell phone even pouring drinks one handed. I was astonished that the the management allowed that, she carried it from one end of the bar to the other.
Directly in front of me on the other side of the bar was the top side of the dishwasher for glassware, it was almost the same height as the bar and atop it sat six to ten dirty glasses and a couple used baskets of tortilla chips. It was not very appetizing. Those items sat there my entire visit. Also directly in front of me was the door leading to the kitchen, it would not close all the way and was in desperate need of a good cleaning or a fresh paint job.

Another bartender came on shift behind the bar and was just as friendly as the first ,she offered me a spicier salsa that was delicious but neither girl had any sense of urgency. Myself and other patrons had to wait for refills. I was turned off by how they both grabbed the margarita glasses stored hanging from the rack above them by the rim.
Just as I was leaving a bartender named Eric ( I believe ) was coming on shift for dinner service. He completely changed the entire atmosphere the second he stepped behind the bar. He was VERY attentive, VERY friendly, VERY personable  VERY professional! Popular too! Other customers followed him in. If I was a bar/restaurant owner I would have immediately attempted to hire him on the spot!

Went for happy hr with the girls, the only reason they didn't get 5 stars was due to the horrible quesadilla they tried to serve as part of the appetizer sampler. It was like cardboard with 2.5 pinches of chicken and some cheese/bean spread (yuck!). The mango margarita is a must every time!!

I have been to various Chevy's locations over the years and all of my experiences were about average. However, my most recent experience at the Richmond location was nothing short of great. My friend and I went for Happy Hour on a Friday night. The parking lot was full, but it only took a minute or two to find someone leaving. The inside of the restaurants, especially the bar area, was packed. There was a 20 minute wait to be seated, but this didn't bother us because we wanted to be seating in the Happy Hour area and understood that that was why most people were there as well.

Once we were seated we were greeted right away by our delightful waitress and asked if would like to order something to drink. Right away we each ordered a margarita. We started with a mango and strawberry margarita. Both were delicious! When the waitress brought our drinks she then took our food order. I had a coupon for a free appetizer worth up to $10 and we asked if we could apply that to the appetizer sampler, which was $15. She promptly brought over the manager to answer our question with no hesitation, yes they would.

The food came out quickly and was also very good. My friend and I shared this and were both full by the end. We ordered a second round of drinks (same flavors) and then a third, switching to the original flavor and pomegranate. Those were also very tasty. Our server was constantly checking on us, making sure the food was good and that we were good on drinks. I was very pleased with the service and food/drinks.

Overall, the food and drinks were just good, but the service and experience was great. I would recommend coming early because there will definitely be a packed house for Happy Hour, especially on the weekends.

We returned to Chevy's for their Valentine's Day special, after a somewhat disappointing experience in December.  I'm happy to report that things went much better this time.  We were brought chips as soon as we were seated (warm and fresh as always); and I noted that fresh tortillas are once again being prepared in plain sight in the dining area, though  "el Machino" of fond memory is no more.  And the Valentine's special was an excellent deal:  $39.99 for two, including an appetizer, choice from among a few special entrees or any of the two-item combos from the regular menu,  and dessert..  We went with chicken nachos, steak fajitas,  a chile relleno, a cheese enchilada, and the fried ice cream, all excellent (and in large portions).  Also available with the special, house margaritas at $5,00 (we opted for one original and one mango).  All excellent, as was the service.

I was probably only in this Chevys for about 10 minutes before I walked right out the door. There was a line of people waiting to be seated and the "hostess" was busy chatting it up with 10 of her other coworkers who were just standing around doing nothing to serve the customers waiting in line. When the girl asked us if we wanted to eat in the dining area or the bar, her head was turned the other way, making no eye contact whatsoever! They seated us quick but by the time we got to the table, my boyfriend and I realized that we were not going to pay to get bad service and just walked out, I got a glimpse of the servers face and she just had a confused look on her face. The employees were not attentive, it seemed like they were just there to hang out and not work and obviously do not know how to deliver good nor decent costumer service.

This was my first and last time at this Chevys! They really deserve 0 stars.

I hate leaving any place a 1-star review but let me tell you why this one is warranted.

I am not a fan of Chevy's in general but I will admit... I love coming to the Cantina for margaritas and a plate of nachos with my man.  At MOST Chevy's restaurants, you can walk in, tell the hostess you are getting a table in the Cantina, sit down and enjoy happy hour (which is awesome since it's all evening long).  No, no... not here.  Here, you MUST get a table by giving the hostess your name and the number of people in your party... even if all you want to do is get a table in the Cantina for happy hour.

Next, we get our table and are relieved to find out we can still get happy hour specials even though we're seated in the dining area.  Being the yelper that I am, I proceed to check-in at this particular Chevy's and discovered a Yelp Check-In offer for $20 for 2 fajita entrees.  AWESOME!... or so I thought.  My fiance and I were not planning on eating dinner here.. just having our margaritas and nachos and leaving.  But thanks to Yelp, we decided to stay and order some fajitas since the offer was such a good deal (fajita entrees run anywhere from 13.99-17.99 depending on what you get).  Before we even ordered, we asked our waiter, John, if the check-in offer would be honored.  We got a yes!  So we decided to dine there.

Our appetizers came out first - the nachos and the flautas but we were still missing silverware.  Struggling without napkins for quite some time, they finally came around.  Besides that, the nachos were good (and they never disappoint) and the flautas although not crispy as advertised, were still tasty with a sweet mango salsa.  After that our fajitas didn't take too long but came steaming hot and we were without plates.  After asking THREE people for plates, we finally got some to eat our no longer hot food.  The fish fajitas tasted fishy and the chicken was dry.  Needless to say, we didn't take any home with us.

Then our waiter had to go on a lunch break... and left us with someone else.  He said he'd close out our tab before he left and he never did.  And then we started to wait.

Our bill (which took WAY TOO LONG) to come out, finally did.  After all the anticipation of our bill, we come to see that we were charged full price for our food.  We patiently waited for our server to come back but she didn't and when we asked for her again, she walked right past us.  At this point, we were furious.  We got up and asked the person who isn't a manager but was in place of one... whatever you'd call them... about our bill.  He said that he doesn't honor coupons on your phone and only ones that are printed out!  UM.... WHY DO YOU HAVE A CHECK IN OFFER THEN?!  Denying us our offer, we paid our bill and promptly left... and appalled at that.

I would highly recommend to AVOID this Chevy's if you can.  Slow and unreliable service, misleading check-in offers and sub-par food.  NO THANKS.

    Hello To everyone

, ( My opinion )   I must say Out of ALL of the Visits I attend with Chevy's Fresh Mex located in Richmond ,  I have had very good , Prompt , Fast Service.  And They had everything I requested  to water , silverware , napkins ,  beverages , there delicious nice warm yummy Chips & Salsa .. When asking for refills on soda they got my refill back to me within about 20 seconds ..

( Cleaness )  I was as well very impressed of how clean the restrooms and Dining room was and kepted clean .. As I saw tables get  up I would constantly see a chevy's employee with dustpan and a broom cleaning underneath the table and even pulled table out and sweep  it ..

(  Customer Service )  I was happy as well with the Hostess that sat us down at our Table  .. As I walked in she was extremely respectful , and smiled and greeted me and my family ...  I can't ask for any better service then what chevy's in Richmond has provided ..

( FOOD Timing )  As I am enjoying my warm Chips & Salsa and having great laughs and conversations with my friends & Family My Waitress took our orders promptly and All of our meals came out  at the same time with 12 -15 mins Didn't wait long at all ... I was a happy Camper how great and fast service Chevy's Located in Richmond is doing ..

I got invited here and expected to get some pretty boring predictible  food choices but to my surprize, there was a lot of variety on the menu and  i liked the it!. It's not ghetto mexican food truck food.  I ordered 2 chicken pesto cream sauce covered enciladas that came with rice and beans. that was quite tasty, some (made at the table)  guacamole (delicious) and a big mango margarita (mmmm, they didn't scrimp on the booze). My friend order the 3 course special with chicken fajitas, a salad and desert and flour tortillas all for only 12 or 13 bucks. It was a lot of food too. They have good chips and salsa that the whole staff  were attentive, friendly and kept coming by and asking if we needed more chips (which I liked). The service was good too.

Review is really a 3.5.  Over the years this place has been up and down for me, but my last few times have been ok.  The greens in my salad were crisp and my chicken was done well.  My drink was good.  Happy hour appetizers were good.

Like other reviews though I would agree about service sometimes lacking.  Also it would be nice if all the food for everyone at the table did come out around the same time.  I don't think that's asking too much really.

If you can believe it I have actually been to worse Chevy's locations.  So I will probably be back to this one when the mood strikes.

    Chevy's salads are the best.

I received a birthday offer from them in the mail so we came here for dinner.  They were really nice and comped my salad for my birthday.  I had their shrimp fajita salad and they made it table side.  Fresh chunks of creamy avocado, bell pepper strips, pumpkin seeds, and lots of sizzling shrimp with apple-chipotle dressing.

Hubby had their Santa Fe chopped salad.  It was a generous salad with lots of bacon, avocados, grilled chicken, red bell pepper, and blue cheese.  I was impressed with the freshness.  Since hubby never orders salads, I was shocked that he ordered one and enjoyed it too.  He also had the apple-chipotle dressing.  With salads this good, we will have to make this a regular date night at Chevy's.  Who knew Chevy's had such good salads?  We are definitely coming back soon.

Service was good and everything I ate was excellent.

Got a nice buzz on before going back to sleep to prepare for my morning meetings.

The hotel I stayed at (across the street) was fantastic! I'd do both of these again.

I go here a lot for happy hour with my buddies. I enjoy the margaritas here very much. My only complaint is the service. They have got to have the slowest service ever! Every time i go here, I'm in a good mood til after I order. Every time I would try to get the server's attention, it takes forever & i feel like i have to snap my fingers or yell just to get someone to our table!

over all i love the happy hour menu but they need to bump up their service!

Wow - where to begin.  Nasty, burnt, dry.

This was a horrible experience for me.  The only reason I gave it one star is because Yelp made me.

I ordered two cheese enchiladas with rice and beans.  Pretty basic, right?  There was virtually no sauce on the enchiladas making them very dry.  The rice was burnt to a crisp on the bottom -- when I flipped it over it was literally black.  The beans were so so.

Service left much to be desired.

I am thinking that this place needs to close its doors.  Nasty.

I know, I know; it's all my fault I should have known better than to go to Chevy's of all places for Cinco de Mayo. I wasn't expecting much just a few appetizers and a Margarita before I went to the next destination of the evening. So here's how it went:

We arrive and the hostess asks would we like to sit in the Catina or dining area, she says the Catina is offering menu specials. OK, Catina it is. After a 40 minute wait we are seated, but not in the Catina. We are seated across the hall, so I'm thinking perhaps this is the over flow area. Server takes our order and informs me that in order to get the Catina specials I must walk over to the Catina and pick up my food. Huh? OK, forget that I will just order from the menu then, but I will take one of the drink specials. Server then informs me that I will have to walk over to the bar and pick up my drink as well. Keep in mind we asked to be seated in the Catina but were placed elsewhere. We were then told that we could be seated in the Catina, but there would be a wait. Of course there would be a wait because we are now being put at the bottom of the list.

    Customer service at its finest!

I ordered the Santa Fe salad with vinaigrette dressing. You really dont need the dressing because the bacon and cheese makes the salad pretty salty already. I actually didnt like the vinaigrette because it was too sweet for my taste

There was a deal where you get salad or soup, an entree, and dessert for only 11.99. My sister got the grilled tortilla soup, chicken fajita tacos, and deep fried ice cream.

The Tortilla soup was yummy. The chicken fajita tacos were okay (it came with two). The deep fried ice cream wasnt good though. I didnt like the coating because it tasted like oatmeal. They also put too  much whipped cream and chocolate on top. Way too sweet.

I dont come here often but I guess it's a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat that is a little bit better than fast food. The free chips and salsa is really good but other than that I am not really impressed with much here. Most of it taste all the same and nothing is memorable here.

I know not to expect much from Chevy's... it's not authentic, but it hits a certain spot.  Just finished an early evening movie... bf wanted Applebee's but I insisted on Chevy's cause I wanted a decent margarita and some chips and salsa.  Those items they delivered on.

But 2 nights ago the service was in RARE FORM!

Took the hostess 10 SOLID MINUTES to even take down our name!  I'm sorry but can you please at least do that so we can sit down instead of standing at this stupid podium waiting for you to do who knows what?  When she finally asks how many, she writes it down and turns away.  My bf mumbles to me, um, she didn't even ask us our name.  The manager turns to the girl and says, did you get their name?  And she says, yeah.  Then she looks at her book and says, oh, sorry, what's your name?  wow... nice... that's about the only thing "fresh" here... ha

So I asked for a booth.  There was an empty one right there.  She wanted to try to seat us in the bar, at a high table top.  I said, no, I asked for a booth.  She said, oh, ok, they're clearing that one so we'll give them a few minutes.  We sat back down.  A few minutes later she comes over and says, oh, they were clearing that for another party and then starts going into this hella long explanation about who needed the booth, and I'm like, just let us know when one is ready.

Meanwhile, the empty booth is still empty.  I'm trying to be patient cause I just don't want any type of argument.  I realize it's Chevy's and I've been to this one before where they are less than attentive.  And I figure, we're not in a hurry so what the hay.  15 minutes later, the manager seats us at no where else but that empty booth I've been eyeing :)

Chips and salsa and margaritas were just as good as I expected.  Our food would have been decent too if it hadn't been obviously sitting waiting to be brought to our table.  My bf's fajitas had long since stopped sizzling by the time they got to our table and the cheese on my plate was not even melted anymore.

We finally left the place 2 hours after we got there.  Usually 2 hours in a restaurant is not a big deal... unless most of that time is spent just WAITING for them to get their act together!

Eh, we'll go back if I have a hankering for chips/salsa and margaritas, but we know what to expect...

Hey c'mon, this place isn't really that bad.  I'm usually not generous with my reviews but this place didn't warrant a 2.5 overall when I last left one.  I usually stress about the expectations you should have when you go into a restaurant, and I don't think people should have high expectations when they go into a place like Chevy's.  Maybe I'm just inexperienced when it comes to Mexican food but this place definitely satisfied my palate the last time I had lunch here with my boss.  We had some combo lunch specials and they tasted just fine.  The food wasn't AUTHENTIC but once again, I don't know if you came here expecting some homegrown mexican taste and if that's the case, you'll probably be disappointed.  For the others, you'll be just fine dining here for lunch or dinner.

And omg, their chips and salsa are heavenly, even you purists can't disagree with me on this.

Like most people, the main reason I come here is for the chips and salsa. And margaritas, can't forget about that! It doesn't get any better than at Chevy's!

The service is hit or miss, depending on how busy they are. This resto doesn't share their parking lot with any other businesses so you get an idea of how busy it is once you drive in.

I usually go to the bar to get my nomming on. Seating is a first come, first serve basis so it can get pretty hard to find a seat.

It may not be authentic mexican food but I like it nonetheless. Not being too big on fajitas, I usually split a 3-item combo with my buddy. I opt for either a cheese enchilada, pork tamale or flautas and buddy usually gets a taco. And black beans, gotta get it with black beans! The tortilla soup is a fave of mine. Get a side of cheese with it...well worth the extra chump change they usually charge you. I've also learned you can make quite a filling meal of asking for tortillas and sour cream then eating it with the black beans. Tasty and it keeps you regular ;-)

This resto doesn't stand out from any other Chevy's restaurants. For the most part food, service and decor is the same no matter which one you go to, the only difference is the layout of each one.

Came here for happy hour on a Thursday night with some co-workers. There wasn't much of a crowd there so our group of 10 had a whole section of the restaurant to ourselves. We ordered the half off appetizers, (there's 5 to choose from):

    1. Crispy Chicken Flautas
    2. Nachos Grande
    3. Original Fajita Nachos (chicken or steak)
    4. Spicy wings
    5. Red Chile Pork Taquitos

My favorite was the chicken flautas, everything else was just mehhhh, nothing really special. All drinks on the happy hour menu are only $3! They only have one type of beer on the happy hour menu (budlight, blah!), but a lot of margaritas. Unfortunately, i'm really not a fan of tequila. House wines and well drinks are also $3.

This is a good place to go to for groups, but i suggest getting there early (before 6pm) if you want to go happy houring on a friday because it can get crowded. I was a bit disappointed with the service we received - our waters were never refilled and the restaurant was not crowded at the time. On a plus side, I LOVE the endless chips and salsa! That was probably my favorite thing there and it was free.....

It's Chevys man. It ain't no 5 star restaurant blood!

love the bar. wish they had bigger TVs and HD but it's Chevy's man,...not a sports bar.

When i go there to meet up with folks we always get the buck of coronas and appetizers. For meals i always get the Fajita platter. Good drunk americanized mexican food when your at the bar. I would write more about this place but i just don't have the energy to.

My take, bring friends, get hammered because you know the food ain't all that. 2 out of 5 stars.

This review of mine will be short and simple...

Why? Food was aite, service was slow, bathrooms were filthy (I will have  a picture up of what I saw in the stall)

the 1 star is not the for the restaurant but for Chevy's letting my coworkers and I sit in their dining area to have a good time!

The last time we went to this Chevy's, it seemed that they were making some right choices.  Everything went smoothly and we had a good meal.

Yesterday, Dr. R. decided to give his parents their first taste of mexican food and we would take them to Chevy's.  The result was a mixed bag.

Lulu seemed to be the only waitress in the dining room, so she was rushed and harrassed.  It was a good ten minutes before we saw chips and salsa (not terribly long, but....) and twenty minutes before someone came and took our order (finally, the drinks!).

My in-laws enjoyed looking at the tortilla machine (I enjoy it too) and they liked the food that Dr. R. ordered for them to share and enjoy.  Lulu refilled our drinks and that was good.

Strange thing:  when we asked for a container to carry our leftover rice and beans, we were told by a young man (not Lulu) that there were none.  It was really confusing that he said that he hadn't really looked "in the back" and would continue to look?  When we asked Lulu, she hurried back with one of their to-go containers.  Good thinking!

While Dr. R.'s shrimp enchiladas, Mom and Dad's burritos and tacos were great, my nachos were lackluster.  I know that nachos are... a simple dish, but there is some art to getting the nachos to be cheesy, moist, crunchy, beany... I felt that the nachos I got were made by someone who just threw the ingredients on the plate without much care.  Better, less expensive nachos could be had at BF.

So, while we will continue to go to "our" Chevy's, again, I just wish it were more consistently better.  :::sigh:::

I've never really been a fan of Chevy's (other than their chips & salsa which tend to be rediculously addicting) until recently when I went out with some fam for their El Happy Hour Extrav  .. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3 'til 7PM.. their $3 drink menu includes margaritas, house wines, well drinks & domestic draft beers.. what tops it off is their $3 appetizer menu.. & trust me.. their appetizers are bomb diggity! $3 Crispy Flauntas are the shizz! Nachos Grande is huge & hard to believe for only $3, & Spicy wings are well worth the measly $3..

The more recent times I've been here, I've sat at or around the bar area so the service has always been how I like it.. fast & efficient..

Try telling your server that it's your friend's birthday even when really it's not..  so about 3-5 of their servers come out of the cuts to plop a nice big 'Chevy's Fresh Mex' Sombrero right on their head & proceed to sing an always entertaining, out of sync happy birthday!

I don't really recommend coming for the food unless you're just looking for a quick full.. but is definitely worth coming out for EL HAPPY HOUR! 4 stars!

    good times..

It couldv'e been an off day.
Yes we waited 25 minutes for a table. then another 15 minues because the hostess messed up the order of arrival and gave our table of 6 to someone else and told us we asked for a table of four.

Then we ordered drinks -  the pineapple lemonade is really good and refreshing.  We were given a tiny basket of chips and given the wait we finished it and the chips were replaced. But the lunch menu was over at 3pm and at 305 and having waited 40 minutes, we were told we couldn't order off that menu.

I have never walked out on a restaurant in my life. Until that day. because after 45 minutes of waiting for a table then 45 minutes and still no food and no:
    "sorry for the wait"
"its going to be a minute, our kitchen is backed up, here are more chips"
    smiling

    I had to.

And when we let one server know we were tired of waiting and that we were going to leave, that we needed our bill - we didn't get any response. I had to just throw money for our drinks on the table.

I've eaten here before - the food is Chevy's good, just like any other Chevy's.

I've taken my  customers to this Chevy's  and family; every time we have gone it's a bad experience at Lunch  and Dinner Time. The only reason I continue to go is because of there fajitas. Love there fajitas very good and there giant margaritas other then that I really have nothing good to say about these restaurants.

    Do not recommend.

If you've eaten at one Chevy's you've eaten at them all.  I haven't experienced much difference in food quality in any of the locations I've tried.  I had the fish tacos which were made with salmon and they were respectable, nothing amazing or notable.

    Now, for the real review...

This review gets two stars because it quite possibly has the *worst* televisions in a bar that I've ever experienced in the 21st century!  One TV was so dark you couldn't make anything out.  One was just blurry!  I kept blinking thinking it was my eyes...but no, it was just the crappy TV.  Another TV was kinda snowy/static-y?  Really.  I bet you guys would do a whole lot better business by getting better televisions.  I have one word for you....FLATSCREENS!

Chevy's will get 4 stars as long they keep making those fabulous Fajitas.

This night Saturday night was a great night for Chevy's because it was busy in the spot! When I arrived it was a little on the dead side but it picked up quickly.

I wish it was a good night for me...

When a conversation starts "um Karim I don't wanna..." I knew where this was going. Here you take this very nice gift I got for you to express my feelings(Got Damn G. Morse and your bad advice) and "I'll have a Grande Pomergante Margarita and two crispy tacos. Shoot the breeze and talk about work and school and check out the cool looking walking into the Chevy's bar area.

There are some lookers out in Richmond. I didn't know that. Richmond must be where some of the hot girl that work down town SF go after work.  But yeah I was a little salty at the girl but not Chevy's because the Margarite was on point the spicy mango margarite needed more spice and I was a little glad that the night was still young and I had 45 minutes to get myself right on the way back to the city.

I've only been to Chevy's when there aren't any better options to be found and I'm starving. Around Hilltop Mall, your choices are fairly limited - if the selection is Panda Express, Cinnabon, or Chevy's, I'm going to Chevy's.

Chevy's in summary: expensive, bland, expensive, and bland. Just try finding something on the menu under $11.95 that isn't a side of beans. Plus there's a distinct possibility of getting car-jacked in the parking lot after the expensive bland meal.

Chevy's is always full of people celebrating both real and fake birthdays to get the strange song sung by the bored waiters, a cheap sombrero, and whatever else happens (there were 8 birthdays during my last dinner there, that seems mildly unlikely). Probably the single most disturbing element of the restaurant, and the final nail in the psuedo-Mexican coffin, is the Wonka-esque tortilla making machine called "El Machino", which I'm sure is pronounced "El Machine-o". Still, better than dinner at Cinnabon.

I really don't know what to say about Chevy's.... The food is okay,  I like getting the steak tacos "El Diablo". that's the spicy steak tacos for those who don't know.
The Richmond Chevy's is alright, haven't really had a really bad experience there, and usually just sit at the bar and eat there. Not a bad option if your nearby Chevy's and hungry. Plus you get the chips and salsa

When my sister and I decided to get Chevy's to go, we didn't expect gourmet fine dining.  We just wanted to sit around the house and eat in our pajamas and not deal with being at a restaurant.  Since we were in Pinole, there were not that many options available.  So we called Chevy's to place an order, went to the restaurant and then the fun began.

When my sister went inside, they didn't have our order.  Someone said they would go look for it, and then forgot about us.  45 minutes later, after many inquiries about the whereabouts of our food, said food finally appeared.  The manager appeared quite apologetic and said he would give us a discount.  Too bad he forgot when he was ringing up the order.  Instead of undoing the transaction, he gave us his card with his handwritten note on the back saying we are entitled to a free meal.  Wait a minute, how about one free meal, RIGHT FREAKIN' NOW?!?!  Whatever, we just wanted to get out of there.  Then, after the one hour ordeal, we finally get back home.  Too bad when we open the package, there are no tortillas even though we had ordered fajitas.

Shockingly, we haven't attempted to use the free meal ticket yet.

    Gas rating: 5
If you couldn't guess this was going to be a 5, you obviously rode the short bus to school.  Chevy's = gas.

Ah... the Chevys that started it all for me. The salsa here is good and brown as it should be. El Machino is pretty scary and traps tortillas in the works until the inside is littered with tortilla corpses.

The servers definitely had some happy birthday enthusiasm; however, their singing ability left much to be desired.

We marvel at how Chevy's has managed to cohere the cheapassed food you called "home cooking" during the 80's. How many nights did you and your roomies make nachos since all you had was a bag of Doritos and some jack cheese and some salsa in the house? For a reasonable amount of money, you can indulge your Mex flavor cravings in a safe, sane and silly environment and still make your Hilltop Cinema movie on time!

I love the warm, frail chips, the salsa is fire roasted, the guacamole is seasoned for good not evil. They offer real ingredient margaritas as well as the scarey frozen kind.
