Great food, lousy service. Food made it worth it though.

I don't think I've ever given a 1 star for a restaurant yet. This was pretty bad...the food itself was ok, though I never got to enjoy it, but it was the service that warrants a 1 star. I went here for a birthday breakfast and by the time I left I felt they should have paid me to eat there. It took 10 mins after we were seated to take our drink orders, then 20 mins to get our meals which were just egg orders. I immediately found egg shells in my meal, but the server never came back to check on us so after another 10 mins I had to get up and find the manager to send back my food. I asked for some bread to hold me over til my food came back and the bread took 10 mins to arrive, then another 10 mins for the new meal. Now by this time my family had finished their meals. Never was water refilled and by the time my meal did arrive I just got it in a to go box. The manager never came over to check on us nor did the server.  Lastly the wall we sat along had coffee and milk stains and food splatters all over it, disgusting!

The manager had no idea how to run a restaurant, no idea what good customer service looks like. Sadly we weren't the only tables experiencing horrible service.

I just stayed at the Sofitel for a good friend's wedding and had the pleasure of stopping in the Chez Collette for breakfast. I have to say I am very impressed.

Two words that perfectly describe both the hotel and the restaurant: Quality, and Class.

The atmosphere is very nice, somewhat fancy but not stuffy to the point where you'd feel uncomfortable in jeans and a t-shirt.

The ice water must come from some mystical spring located in Fiji, because I have never enjoyed a glass of water so much. The coffee was also excellent.

The menu has a lot of mouth-watering items, which include a diverse variety of both French and traditional American food, as well as different eggs benedict options. The crab cake benedict was tempting, but I played it safe and went with the classic. It did not disappoint. I won't lie, it's hard to screw up eggs benedict but the hollandaise sauce really made this dish. It was packed with flavor.

My friend and boyfriend built their own omelettes, which were also very flavorful.

I should also add that the menu was packed with light, healthy options like cereal and oatmeal, and fresh fruit. My eyes barely grazed that section however as I was... in rough shape from the night before, and needed something much more substantial.

The only thing that wasn't up to par was the time it took for us to place our orders and get our food... our server was an older French woman who was very polite and kind, but visited our table several times with coffee and water before coming back to finally take our orders.

Also, because this place is built on those two words (Quality, and Class), the portions were arranged neatly on the plate (not too big) and the menu items were a little pricy depending on what you ordered. I think my eggs benedict was around $15.

But by the end of the meal I felt full and greatly satisfied, and I really loved that although the restaurant was busy and bustling, we didn't feel rushed at all. We really enjoyed our time conversing with each other, and isn't that the French way to do it?

All-in-all, the Chez Collette c'était magnifique!
