WORST Chili's experience to date. Â
My boyfriend and I ordered the 2 for $20 deal. Â I asked the waitress for carne asada seasoning on my steak, instead of butter, and she replied she didn't know if they still had that. Â I presumed she would let me know if they didn't have the seasoning, but I never heard back from her. Â The steak comes out and is DRENCHED with butter. Â Uhh.. what? Â I asked the manager if they had the carne asada seasoning and she replied they did, so I sent the steak back. Â What I got back was nothing like I've ever eaten at Chili's. Â The steak was crispy on the outside, appeared medium (as ordered) in the middle, and 1/4 of the steak was well done. Â The seasoning was quite lacking. Â This steak is usually great, when cooked as requested. Â I also wanted the advertised NEW sweet potato fries, but was told they were out. Â
My boyfriend got the chicken salad, but it was drenched in dressing that he didn't request. Â He usually gets asked what type of dressing he would like, but not this time. Â He had to ask for ranch twice, and the waitress barely stopped by our table to check on us. Â Service was poor and the same goes for the food. Â We ate at around 5:30pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was not full. Â Totally a bad experience all the way around.
I don't like writing reviews for corporate chains because, frankly, everyone already knows what to expect. Â However this time was a little different.
Pulling into the parking lot I realized they had undergone an update in appearance since my last visit. Â After going inside it was confirmed. Â Cool new light fixtures, tables, wall dividers and paint. Â Really nice job. Â It was brighter, trendier and more comfortable. Â As we sat down, we realized there were some new menu items. Â Pizza? Â Mac n cheese? At chilis? Â Lets give it a try.
I ordered the southwest pizza or something along those lines. Â It had chicken, onions, peppers etc... And looked great on the menu. Nthe sad reality is that this is a glorified personal pizza you get at the AAC for a macs game, you know the ones... Thick, doughy, pre made crust, not very appetizing. Â Mac n cheese was good, and had a nice bread crumb crust on top. Â My sister ordered the sirloin lunch special and the healthy options menu. Â It was the size of a silver dollar pancake and LOADED with spice (taco seasoning presumably), and was one of the worst bites of steak I had ever tried. Â My wife was served fries and corn with her chicken crushers and the corn was clearly frozen. Â Just not good. Â I'll stick to the nachos next time.
It's a chilli's what more can I say. They have never been my top pick on places to go but they have a generic enough menu that you can usually find something to eat. I'm glad they offer the newer chicken tender options because the ones that were chilli's original ones I just have never liked. Â We usually go because my father in law likes a couple menu items, my husband and I get the two for 20 option cause what we normally order is on there and that way we chips for the group of us to share. Â
The service hasn't ever been great but has never been absolutely horrible. Food hasn't ever been really bad, if they screw something up they fix it pretty quickly, but isn't something I ever have craved & doesn't have any particular menu item that I like that I couldn't get any other chains that wouldn't be about the same in taste/price/etc. if not better at another chain, or local joint.
Overall not somewhere I would never go again; I'm sure we will continue going there as long as my in laws are in the area and we continue to go eat lunch with them & that's where they pick; Â but it isn't somewhere I'd go of my own picking.
