My chums and I frequented this watering hole before a Butler game in the afternoon to sip on suds and take in some sports before the game. Â This place is a pretty typical sports bar. Â It is fairly large, well kept, lots and lots of tvs with different sports on them (they even have like logos of the games that will be on that tv for the day), food, not so good bathrooms (troughs and not properly locking doors- careful a velociraptor might get you!) and lots and lots of beer.
They had at least 25 beers on taps and a plethora of bottles. Â On different days of the week they run various beers specials. Â Saturday happens to be 1.00 off Indiana beers, making them all 3.75. Â Holy Hoosiers! I seyz. Â My buddy points out that they basically run a similar special throughout the week....Hoosier High receded. Â In case you are unaware of what beers are from Indiana, never fear, they have a menu that lists everything. Â Do this and you will look like a pro and save yourself the possible ridicule from the barkeep.
We were there in the afternoon, and here weren't too many people there. Â I assume this place gets busy at night, but we walked past it in the AM evening hours and there seemed to be the same amount of people. Â
Not my first destination, but great for a casual beer, viewing sporting matches, and hanging with a larger group.
This Chumleys isnt very similar to its brother in West Lafayette. Its rather unfortunate.. but for Broadripple this bar is pretty good. First and foremost they have awesome craft beers on tap..LOTS OF IT. Not to mention tons of bottles too.
On weekend nights (just like every bar in broadripple) it gets crowded..table service gets really slow and it can be hard to get beers at the bar. I tend to start my nights here or go on off nights..it is MUCH better then. Quick service, its not packed, and its pretty relaxing.
Compared to the other bars in the area I think Chumleys has a bit more seating (and more comfortable). They also have a ton of TVs and a really nice patio area our front with garage doors.
