Churchills is the ONLY cigar bar in the Triad. I was there on a Sunday night so there was not much going on. But, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The venue itself is very cool, it has the feel of a high end lounge.
The negatives are the location which is not in a great part of town with very limited parking. And, I have to say that I was SHOCKED that their cigar offerings are limited to a stand up display case which was only 30-40 percent filled. I later learned that they are basically buying cigars at retail to re-sell. The owner did say that they are taking steps to become a retailer/dealer of popular brands of cigars.
I look forward to going back on my next trip. I'll make a point of going on a busier night to enjoy some of the activity.
Great ambiance and even better staff and customer service. Classy and not too packed. It'll make a cigar smoker outta you. They are a laid back crew and willing to teach you about the finer and more important  things in life - Cigars & Fine Scotch/Whiskey
( Yeah, I know there are more important things in the world like the starving supermodels of Paris, but hey, we can only fix one thing at a time)
Churchill's is the one thing that makes going downtown worthwhile besides the theater. It has a very classy, upscale atmosphere, and they're good about keeping out riff-raff and getting drunks and bums walking by the outdoor area to move along. Patrons are generally nicely dressed and well-mannered, though there are always the lecherous middle-aged men hitting on 21-year-old women. Seating is a little scarce, though, and it's hard to get a table for 4 or 5 people. There are outdoor tables but you can barely hear the music outside. Restrooms are very nice. Coat check is just a self-service rack with hangers, so hang up expensive jackets at your own risk. They don't mind if you get up and dance but there's not a lot of room for it. For me, it's the perfect place to have a few drinks after a show or an event at the Empire Room.
Review Source:First off, my review is from an experience from November 2010. It just took me awhile to write something up.
So, nice people, quiet atmosphere, I have no idea how they're in business. This cigar bar is very upscale, gentleman's club feeling. I wasn't the only girl there, but we were pretty limited. I think from the total 15 patrons, 3 of us were of the female gender. That being said, the bartender was a chick (I wasn't counting her) and the guys I was with had a fun time hitting on her.
My brother wanted to come here for his birthday. He asked for a whiskey or bourbon bar so that he could keep tasting his way through the flavors. I'm not whiskey drinker, nor do I live in Greensboro, so based on the two previous reviews, we stopped in. It was midweek, sometime near Thanksgiving and the place wasn't busy. We thought it was closed for a minute. But after we got in we found the bar staff beyond helpful! I know nothing about whiskey and he explained the different types and showed us bottles and even helped my brother pick one to try based on  others that he liked.
Nice place. If you want something a bit classier and don't mind the smell of cigar smoke, this is a great place.
The bathroom was super-purty too.
Note: There might be a cover charge, but I'm not sure. I think it was midweek and no one was there that they didn't charge us to get in. But there was something about membership requirements when we were walking up the stairs. You may want to check on that.
I was in town recently and got a chance to stop by here on a Thursday night with a friend. Â Such a great place to relax and enjoy the fine jazz music! Â They had a martini special going on but I didn't try them. Â I chose Jack and Coke instead to go along with the smoky ambiance of the cigar bar. Â Friendly staff and energized musicians. Â This is a class act that I'll be catching again in the future.
Review Source:If you travel over a Thursday night in Greensboro - be sure to stop in here for some fantastic jazz music. Â From 8-11pm, Roberto Orihuela plays with his long-time band partners, high quality jazz. Â I was fortunate to be there on the night of Dizzy Gillespie's birthday so the night was a tribute to him. The band's cohesiveness is palpable and they do a great mix of fast and slow. Â
I was in town for Market, and was pleased to find some higher-class entertainment. The bartender wasn't only fast and attentive, she was friendly and engaging. Â Maybe I've spent too much time in Miami where everyone has a chip on their shoulder, but the staff here seemed outwardly friendly. Â It's dark and smoky - but what do you expect at a cigar bar! Nice seating, plenty of space, good music... definitely worth a stop.
