CJ's Cafe

It's a good place. I don't know what else I can really say about this place. I come here quite a bit because it is conveniently located to my office and they have daily specials that change. I can't say I've had anything that blew my mind, but the food is consistent and it's good and the prices are pretty reasonable.

I wanted to like this place because their specials sound delicious. I have tried 3 different things and have been disappointed with 2 of them.  The cook is too heavy-handed with the salt!  My rice and beans were inedible, but the pork enchilada was okay. I have also tried the French toast which was completely soggy, and the syrup was thin and tasteless. Additionally, they forgot my co-worker's biscuits & gravy (which she said are AMAZING!), and it took an hour for them to redeliver.  They didn't even offer to give her any money back, bad business practice in my opinion.  The one item I did enjoy was one of their daily specials, a Cuban sandwich, which they made with chicken breast in place of the pork.  It was very good.  Maybe I'll only order when that is the special for the day.  Too bad, I really did want to find an alternative in the area.

What would I do without CJ's?  I swear I go to this place almost every single day.  Why?  Because I'm lazy and really slack on my grocery shopping responsibilities.  Because I'm crazy busy, my fridge contents usually consist of moldy cheese, leftovers who've lived past their prime and a faded box of Arm & Hammer baking soda.  CJ's saves me from starvation and malnutrition with their homecooked specialities like ropa vieja and chicken picadillo.   They also offer up a solid breakfast menu with items like sausage gravy with biscuits and awesome (and huge) omelettes.  I usually opt for the Greek salad with chicken with one of their comforting soup selections that change up daily.  Let's not forget that they cater and have never let me down - even when I call them 15 minutes before an impromptu meeting.   The folks who run this place are some of the nicest people ever and you can tell they really care about their business and the service they provide.  I highly recommend them for a quick, homecooked lunch at a very reasonable price.
