We visited Johnny V's - initially for a drink and to try the "cheese board" that had so famously been mentioned by previous reviewers - but ended up staying for dinner. Glad we did.
The bar service - and Jake in particular - was exceptional. Jake quickly picked up on my preference for vodka and was informative and knowledgable as he served up vodka tonics. The cheese board was truly exceptional. Jake, once more, was knowledgable about the dozens and dozens of cheeses we could choose from. Having enjoyed both food and drink at the bar, we asked for a table to enjoy dinner. And enjoy we did!
Not only was our server attentive, the chef sent out a marvelous (complimentary) small soup. The Tuna tartar was delicious. We each got a fish dish. They were both cooked perfectly. Succulent and seasoned with well paired sides.
We really enjoyed Johnny V's and highly recommend it for those visiting Las Olas Blvd.
So I had been to Johnny V awhile ago, maybe 3 years ago, before I actively starting YELP'ing, I didn't remember it being anything great, in fact, I typically skipped over it.
But the other day my friend and I were looking for a much needed after work cocktail and they have a pretty great HH with 50% off wine till 7 pm. Â So we headed in. Sat at the bar, got served and greeted right away, and got a nice glass of wine for like $7.
After wine number 2 we decided to order some apps and share 'em. Based on the YELP pix we ordered the grilled shrimp and the veggie pie. Â The shrimp were HUGE and so awesome looking the couple next to us at the bar asked what dish it was...which they also promptly ordered!!! Â Delicious! Â
The veggie pie was amazing too. It's all different kinds of layered roasted veggies with some goat cheese in between...think veggie lasagna without noodles. Again, I was impressed.
So now I'm a believer...I like!
