Sushi Ko Ko

I met my partner downtown for a quick lunch.  We decided to try this place out instead of the usual salad or sandwich.  What a mistake.

My partner ordered a Spicy Tuna Roll to start and I opted for the Steamed Gyoza (fried is not an option).  The gyoza were okay, but since they were steamed, they were a bit gummy.  The spicy tunae roll was a mess.  Instead of a chunk of tuna inside, it was all chopped up with a few other things...sort of like tuna tartare.  Maybe to hide the fact the tuna was not that fresh?  I thought I would never say this about a tuna roll, but thankfully it was pretty small.  Any larger, and all of it would not have been eaten.  We both ordered the udon soup...he with tempura shrimp, mine plain.  As the two bowls were being brought out, I can't believe what I saw.  As one of the bowls passed the sushi chef, he flung open the beeping microwave and pulled out 2 nuked tempura shrimp and threw it in one of the bowls.  Yuck!!!  The soup was utterly tasteless...plain beef stock wit a few strands of udon.  It absolutely had no flavor.

All this culinary wonderment came to over $30 for lunch!
