Clark Street Dog

If you live in Lakeview, you will eat here.  It's inevitable.  The hot dog is dressed perfectly, and the gyro is greasy and tasty, and will make you feel guilty for the rest of the day (well, night probably).  Don't get the Italian beef, it's not the best.  The brat is pretty good, possibly a Usinger although I'm not certain.  Please don't get the double-dog because that's just wrong.  But most of all, don't get offended or grossed out.  You know what this place is, you came here intentionally; embrace it.

This will be short and not sweet... We had (and shared) an Italian beef sandwich and a hot dog  We should have ordered neither. The Italian beef tasted like it came out of gas station microwave. The meat was not flavorful and the texture was questionable; the hot dog was a bit better but not by much. They were edible, yes but let's leave it at that.

There are many better options in the area for equal or less money.

My husband and I come to Clark street weekly. This is one of our key spots. He tends to go more than me because I try to eat healthy as much as I can, but Clark street is definitely worth the time. Great burgers, phillies, cheese fries and hot dogs. We've tried it all and never have been let down. It's also a place to take out of towners if you want to share with them a one of a kind Chicago spot. Well done Clark Street Dog, we will see you again soon.
