I love this bar! Â I came here with a group of friends to watch the Michigan State Spartans (this bar also supports my other favorite teams: Detroit Lions & San Francisco 49'ers). Â The servers and bartenders were friendly and helpful. Â Everything on the menu looked delicious and we had a hard time on deciding what to order. Â
1) Chicken wings tossed with hot sauce. Â They were the perfect balance between crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Â The hot sauce had a good kick to it. Â These were the best wings that I've ever had!
2) Mini burgers and chicken sliders. Â They were really fulfilling and the burger melted in your mouth. Â
3) Â Buffalo chicken salad. Â The salad was fresh & mixed with an ample amount of cucumbers, celery and tomatoes. Â The chicken on top of the salad was crispy and scrumptious. Â I love myself a good salad!
4) Â Fish and chips. Â The fish was perfectly battered and the fries were so addicting. Â I couldn't stop eating the fries!
5) Â BBQ chicken flat bread pizza and supreme flat bread pizza. Â Both pizzas were loaded with toppings and were delicious!
What's something that sets this bar apart? Â Board games! Â I was pleasantly surprised to see over 20 board games there. Â Some that I recall seeing included Monopoly, Battles of the Sexes, Apples to Apples, etc. Â They also have other games such as Connect 4, UNO, & Jenga. Â We had so much fun playing the games that they had there and it brought a lot of familiar childhood memories back.
This bar has a nice layout and I also liked how they have a lot of flat screens throughout. Â No matter at what angle you're sitting at, you're guarenteed good view of what's playing on the screen. Â
We had a great time and would definitely come back!
In the interest of full disclosure, I lived above Grand River for about 3 years. Â So I probably ate dinner from there two-three times a month and went out there the same number of times per month. Â I think it is one of the most underrated (or unknown) places in the city. Â There is almost never a crowd, except during a Michigan State football game, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Â The bartenders are some of the nicest, friendliest guys you will ever meet. Â Everyone is just relaxed and wants you to have a good time. Â The food is pretty standard bar fare. Â I do love the wraps more than any average wrap though. Â I wouldn't bother with the hamburger or the nachos, but the wraps are worth a special trip to Grand River.
