Penny's Noodle Shop would be much more enjoyable if they decreased the amount of soy sauce in their signature dishes. I absolutely love their pot stickers and Pad See Ew (Pad Si Ew), but I have stayed away from eating there because of the exremely high sodium content in their soy drenched entrees.
I've asked for light soy when ordering Pad See Ew on my last visit - took three times as long to prepare and tasted like S%^t.
I'd rather drop in Big Bowl to get my fix of noddles, dumplings and pot stickers. And eating there dose not require downing a gallon or two of water afterwards.
Highlights: Great food and you cannot beat the prices! I went with my friend who was in town visiting to grab something quick to take away. We didn't plan ahead so asked for some recommendations at the counter and were pointed in the right direction. I honestly couldn't tell you what we ate, but it was all delicious. I know we had one pad thai and two other dishes, one of which was curry based. We went to pay and literally were blown away by how cheap it was. Three dishes were like $20! And we definitely had leftovers.
Although we didn't eat inside, it seemed crowded and understaffed for a Friday. Servers were constantly running to and fro. The kitchen was very efficient and we didn't wait long, but my observation was that it was mostly a place to grab and go.
