Bar Pastoral

Wonderful place to go with a group or on a date.  We went on a Saturday night and had a large circle table in the back - which was good because of how much cheese and pate we ate!  The wine selection is what you would expect for a wine and cheese bar.  Definitely coming back again.

Best place in lakeview. So happy Pastoral expanded into this cozy wine bar. Everything the owners do is top notch and this is no exception. How can you beat sparkling wine on tap? Just like in Italy. I have been several times now and the cheese selections with accompaniments are all tasty. The heavier dishes are delicious; try the nudi. Prices are reasonable for this type of wine bar. You can have a drink with a friend or stay longer and meander through the menu as you wish. The wait staff all seem to like working here and are knowledgeable and helpful. Bar tenders are great to visit with as are the staff at the cheese counter.  This is a gem in my neighborhood. You cant beat a short walk to a great place like this, it is why we live in Chicago.

The ambiance in here is really lovely, and there is nothing to hate about the various lovely cheeses. The menu is laid out in a great way for choosing a cheese and charcuterie platter--very user friendly.

The food itself was good, but I wouldn't say it was off the charts. There also is some inconsistency in the sizing of the plates. It was hard to tell what would comprise a meal versus what would only serve as an appetizer.

Overall, positive, but not outstanding. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, but the lack of wow factor doesn't bump this down to 3 stars.
