Bakin' & Eggs

One of the better breakfasts I've had in Chicago. Fresh food, creative menu items, Intellighnsia coffee. It's definitely a packed house on the weekends so you're forced to wait. However, it's nice that the tables are spaced comfortably and they aren't just packing the masses in. I would definitely come back,

How did it take me almost two years to try this place? I'd put it on the "repeatable" list of brunch options. The location on Lincoln is convenient yet a cluster if you're not used to navigating those 6-way intersections just to get on a residential side street (note: do NOT pay for parking on Lincoln. all the residential parking is FO FREE until 6 pm).

Coffee awaits you if your table isn't ready - great concept. Intelligentsia is not my favorite but coffee is coffee and not having to wait until you're seated is novel. Our group of 6 didn't wait too long (15 minutes?) and were seated in the back, so the noise level wasn't too bad. Our server was nice (and asked up front if we wanted separate checks - bonus!) but absent at times, most notably the beginning when we waited at least 10 minutes to order drinks. Regardless, she was friendly and didn't rain on our Saturday morning parade. So that's that.

I had food envy for every dish on our table. The special, a mediterranean frittata, looked especially appetizing. The Southern Comfort Bowl I ordered had all the right components - potatoes, biscuits, chicken apple sausage gravy, eggs, and some bacon - but I should have mixed it a little before eating it to make sure I wasn't getting really salty bites.

I will be coming back, I will be bringing the boyfriend, and we WILL be getting the bacon flight!
