$15 for chicks
$25 for dicks
If you're hoping to find the good guys that are coming from NY and not from the Jersey Shore, you won't find them here.
Good luck managing the creeps here. Many of the guys put my friends and I in death grips.
What's a death grip you ask? It's the tight hold across a girls abdomen while grinding that does not allow another friend to gracefully twirl your girlfriend away from said creep. You literally have to pull the creeps arms off your abdomens.... be prepared for a giant sweat stain where he was holding you.
If you're a girl who actually has a soul and some kind of self respect I would tell you to stay away from this horrible place. I've been here twice and both times it was a terrible experience and the staff treated you with such little humanity that it made me sick.
Cons:
rude staff and management
overcrowded
DJ
dirty bathrooms
overpriced drinks
awkward set up for walking through the place
Way more guys than girls.
Pros:
Its got a small stage for girls to dance together
(although guys aren't allowed on it and will try to grab you)
sometimes has bubbles/foam in the air
My own personal experience:
I was standing on the edge of the dance floor when someone from the second level dumped beer all over the crowd. My hair was drenched in beer. I lost it and almost started crying because of how degrading and horrible it was to be treated like that.
I went to exit and the bouncer had no empathy and he wouldn't let me out. He told me I had to go through the crowd to get to another exit. He treated me like I was subhuman and drunk even though I was coherent and just trying to have a nice time with my close friend and boyfriend.
I was just so appalled that I talked to the manager and told him I wanted my money back just for the principle of being treated that way. The manager took no responsibility and blamed the people inside. I Â didn't care about the money (it was only $15 for me to get in) but he didn't even offer some kind of apology. He showed such weak and pathetic character that I just gave up on talking to him, it was just making me angry and I didn't want to ruin the night for everyone else.
Club Providence is everything I hate about clubs in general.
1. Creepy old men trying to hit on you (no thank you - we do not want to sit with you in the VIP section and down the drinks you probably roofied)
2. Douchey, just-turned-21 guys (yes, we might be a group of 'hot asian girls' as you so kindly put it but no, we do not want to be in your Vine video post)
3. Drunk girls in way too short dresses (it's fine if you want to show off some leg but PLEASE do not show off cleavage at the same time. That's what the corner right outside is for. Pick one or the other, ladies!)
4. Expensive shitty beer.
Cover was $15 which was not bad for an AC club but I'm pretty sure they charge whoever, whatever they want. The club wasn't an awesome time but it wasn't completely horrible either. But then again, I might be biased since I hate these places. Enter at your own risk!
Basically your typical AC dance club. The DJ was having a hard time keeping a smooth transition for the people on the dance floor and I was constantly looking up to the second floor balcony, to make sure there wasn't some drunk assholes, about to drop their glass down onto my head. Expensive/strong drinks and a crowded dance floor. But the vibe is good.
Review Source:Maybe I went on an "off-night" but my god that DJ.. could not read a crowd if they wrote him a book. Â But you can't judge a club on just the DJ so here is what I will judge it on..
Service..
Quick but not very friendly.
Dance Floor..
Small and strange, part of VIP was literally in the path of the ladies room, is it just me or you'd be upset about random drunk girls about to pee themselves busting through your birthday party??
Price..
Typical AC but had to dispute an extra charge on my credit card, it was removed but I doubt it would have been if I wasn't diligent about checking it. [Drinks were VERY strong, good if you're not looking to spend a lot, bad if you've pre-gamed or simply looking for a good cocktail.] Also, $10 for women and $20 for men, not bad but dress nice.. the boyfriend and I we're celebrating V-Day so we looked smashing ;-) and were called around the line and got right in, others we're visibly angry having waited quite some time and because they didn't have "the look" were not immediately invited in.
Overall..
One of the only "dance clubs" open on days other than Friday and  Saturday night so if you wanna boogie, rock it out, but if there are other options, I'd say skip it.
Here are the two things you will need in order to have a good time here: lots of alcohol prior to entering the club and a group of friends.
Providence is not usually my type of place. I'm really not a club person but I always have a good time here. It may be the alcohol, it may the people I'm with or it may be the actual place. One may never know but it doesn't really matter. What does matter is that I have fun.
This is definitely a place to just let loose and dance. I like the music that they play here cause it's not just house. It's a good mix of different genres.
There is always a cover charge here. Doesn't matter what time you come in, doesn't matter if you're staying in the hotel, expect to pay. And you will be waiting on a line. There is always a line but it usually moves fast.
It's going to be crowded and the drinks are expensive. But I think if you go in knowing what to expect you should have a good time.
Come early; the lines can get really long. Love the music here. There are two floors to this place. The first floor is the dance floor and it gets PACKED. Like takes 5 minutes to walk 2 steps packed. The second floor has more seating and has a balcony over looking the first floor. So once you get tired out from dancing or are tired of sweaty people rubbing all over you, you can retreat to the second floor.
My one suggestion is absolutely do not leave your ID or credit card there on a Saturday night. The club is closed on Sundays til late afternoon and it is impossible to get your ID Sunday morning. My friend left her ID and credit card there on a Saturday night by accident and we had a train to leave Sunday at 3PM. We went around for hours talking to different managers to see if there were any way to retrieve it before leaving but to no avail. Finally, we decided to leave and my friend left multiple voice mails about where to send her id/card. It's been 2 months; she still hasn't gotten them back.
The perfect DJ is what makes the perfect party. I came here for the NYE party hosted by Clinton Sparks. The parking voucher from my hotel saved me $40 for valet service that night. Coat check was only $2. I was in VIP. It's a beautiful place. The party was live. Received complimentary bottle service as well. I guess the only downside is that there is, is that the restroom is a journey away from VIP. Other than that, the server was so nice. I suggest arriving early or on time to a party because lines get long and the place gets so packed so fast. Recommended.
Review Source:Apparently Providence has its good and bad nights. I was on the VIP list, so I didn't pay cover charge or anything, but I really wish I would have spent my night somewhere else. I was expecting it to be a lot better. It seemed like there was nothing to do except watch my guy friends stare at the caged dancers. Lame. If I were a tourist, I would be very disappointed that I wasted my night here.
Review Source:We had gone upstairs to the VIP / bottle service section. Both the floor and tables were sticky. I'm not sure about anyone else but to me that doesn't say classy nor is it worthy of the bottle price mark up.
I find cage dancers to be a tacky element. That being said the dancers here were stiff and / or simply couldn't dance. Either perfect the element or toss it.
They had a staff continually sweeping up dropped cups and such, while I understand the need I found it unsafe to navigate the crowded club safely with the added element of sweeping around my feet.
Like any large club the drinks and the dj are the crowd draws, but I wouldn't go back on my next visit to AC.
Been here on numerous occasions and have never had a bad time.
Cover for guys is like $20- $25 depending on how late you get there. (most AC clubs)
Drinks are a little pricey but are strong. . .always very strong.
Music is always good for my taste (house, old school hip hop)
This is my favorite place in AC on Fridays and Saturdays. Â I recommend this place.
This place is sucky. Â Overpriced cover and lame. Â Head over to Anthem for a better time and nicer people. Â I was willing to pay $20 bucks for a cover with 3 hot girls each willing to pay $15 but they wanted $25. Â I was like let me talk to the manager. Â Big dick head. Â We left gladly and are having g a great time here at Anthem.
Review Source:I ended up at Providence unintentionally. It was already 12am and our hotel was closest to Tropicana - walking distance.
My friend and I decided to check what kinda clubs were inside. First, I had to ask the price (not unusual for a cheap person) which a security guard told us $25.00. I was a bit hesitant on going, but I figured that all the clubs would be that expensive. So, after hiking in heels, I'm satisfied to finally reach to the entrance. And I verify once more that the cover is $25.00. He tells me, it's $15.00 tonight. Right on! So I'm even more pumped to go in, up head.. I walk to pay my $15.00 fee giving him a 20, in which he hands me a $10.00! Being friday the 13th, it must have been my lucky night. lol
So it started out good! Walked inside with good music to jam to, always a plus.
The reason I'm giving it a 4 (which is pretty high since I've seen what Vegas clubs hold) is because it was a decent club, the music was good, the people were attractive, not trashy. And I can't blame it on the a-a-a-alcohol because I didn't drink. I was sober. Although being in my heels till 4am, my feet were regretting not drinking.
It was cool too because foam/confetti was shooting out, and the club has dancers which makes it more fun! Plus, a big dance floor..? Can't complain.
Would I go again? Yes. But, since it was my one of my first times to AC, I'd obviously pick another place so I can yelp again!
The only reason that this isn't getting three stars is for the price and music selection. 20 dollar cover is a LOT for a place like this. Seating is so limited, bathrooms are awful, dance floor is small, and the music went from house ( which I love) to super ghetto old school music. Wasnt feeling it when the music switched.
Review Source:I roll vegas style, even when I'm not in vegas. Â I sport a fat gangster wad, a deep-dish squad and I get in wherever I want.
AC is like a dirty bootleg version of vegas...can't really touch it on the regular, but when I am in this shit hole city, I grease/lie to/schmooze with the clipboard-holding d-bag/b*tch promoters that try to extend the lines so my crew gets in quick with zero hold ups.
Yea, the line was like 50-deep at midnight so I rolled up to that busted club promoter honey and told her (well, I can't really tell y'all what I said..cuz you'll bite it and may get the love I get) blahblah....and my whole squad, which swoll up to 18 at this point, got to jump on the "Guest List" line and walked right in.
The talent my squad was grinding on after about 10 x $8 Absolut/sodas each:
- diesel south jersey guidettes
- "mature" bachelorette party participants...tiaras flying everywhere
- thick blonde chicks from philly
Me and my boys are hungry lions and this club was like Africa...with tanned fake-boobed gazelles ready to be tore up.
Wez mad full, now.
Horrible experience. I only came here because of a birthday party and I definitely would never return here.
The club is Jersey Shore incarnate. Fist pumping everywhere and multiple girls sporting puffs, cheetah print outfits, negligees, and cut out dresses. The club goers are exceptionally rude so the place is full of this aggressive tension. I just don't prefer a club where the best dressed man got his outfit from either Affliction or Ralph Lauren outlet and is sporting Bass shoes and the best dressed woman got her dress from Bebe. Also, be careful when you're out on a dance floor. Someone from the second floor dropped a bottle and hit a friend, thankfully not on his head. Drunk, messy, dirty.
The DJ deserves an entirely different paragraph. Seriously dude, how are you gonna start playing 90's alternative/grunge and Sweet Caroline when it's 12:30? He played 20 second snippets of each song before abruptly changing to another. His set also spanned every genre. Went from really hood rap music to dub step. ADD much?
If Belmar/Seaside/general Jersey Shore is your thing, Providence is perfect. Otherwise, stay away.
I came to Providence to just go out clubbin'. It's located right next to an irish bar, sports bar, and a comedy club.
The inside of the club has a huge dance floor, awesome lighting, well air-conditioned, and had an elevated view of the dance floor.
This place is a serious club. If you're not willing to dress night, don't go. If you don't want a show off environment, don't go.
Next time I am back down in A.C. I will go back!
I adore Providence! I don't think it's worth going if you don't get bottle service though. From my table it always looks like it's impossible to move on the dance floor.
The bouncers are always quite nice and pleasant, and are usually fun to chat with if you have to wait in line. Drinks are basically the same price as any other club in AC, as well as many places in Philly. People seem to want to make them out to be outrageously priced, but I've paid much more at other places while on vacation. The music also is always on point, and I pretty much sweat off any calories I drank by dancing my tush off!
As I mentioned earlier though, bottle service really is the way to go. It isn't as expensive as many other places I've been (even though we got tables worth a few grand free when we were in Vegas - ladies if you can't work this, I don't know what you're doing!!). Having a place to sit when your feet hurt, put your bag, and relax with your group away from the sweaty mass of bodies elsewhere can't be beat! It's much easier to dance, too, instead of just swaying because you're stuck in a ridiculously large crowd.
This is my probably my favorite club in AC, and one I will continue to patronize whenever I want a great time!
I went here for the first time a few weeks back. I enjoyed the layout of the club and all that cool stuff but nothing stuck me as "OMG" this place is AWESOME ya know.. I mean, you go to one club you damn near been to em all, right? They all play the same music for the most part and after a bunch of drink you dont even know what the hell is playing, youre just bumping and grinding lol
The drinks were a bit steep but then again, its AC so that is expected. (2 drinks ran me $30). not that im a cheapo but hey, 30 bucks was 10 more than the entrance fee, thats 50 bucks for me to walk in and have a drink lol. Â times are rough nowa days lol
There is a bar right outside Club  Providence that has a special $5 40oz.s So i suggest going there before the club. I forget the name of it but hey, pregame there, save yourself a few bucks and enjoy yourself twice as much. Â
BAR OUTSIDE PROVIDENCE $5-$10
PROVIDENCE $20+
TIME INSIDE PROVIDENCE Priceless
LEFT OVER $20 for the crap tables on the way out
Anyway, its a spot, i had fun, im sure you will to.
This place charged $20 for me to get in and nothing for my wife or her female friends. The floor was sticky and their bathrooms were disgusting, even though they have a bathroom attendant. The music is painfully loud.
We ended up going to the Wild Wild West, which had $2 domestics and $3 mixed drinks on special.
I like Providence...I think the cover is high as someone else mentioned, but I didn't find the drinks more expensive than any other AC spot.
We danced and carried on but after a while, being sandwiched in between horny dudes just got a little wearing. Â And, I had been drinking/standing in 4 inch stilettos since, oh, 6:00 p.m. so at 1:00 a.m., I was getting cranky.
Novel idea: BOTTLE SERVICE!
This is when my night got much, much better...I think we got a bottle of Ketel for like, $150 and that lasted us the remainder of the evening. Â The bottle service at mur.mur is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive so this was a nice surprise. Â I like having my own space and it really made a difference. Â Around 5:00 a.m., it was still going, so if you want an all night dance-a-thon, this place will provide you the experience.
I had fun on a Friday night but it was more because of the company I was keeping than the club.
The music started out as mostly house mixes, which I like. It abruptly changed to hip-hop, which I also like, but then it got .. I don't know, annoying. After a couple of hours the DJ started repeating songs from earlier in the night. BOO.
Typical hot-shot-wannabe douchers are everywhere, and they're quick to do the "walking-by-a-girl-so-it's-therefore-okay-to-Âtouch-her-lower-back" move. It's crowded, and instead of anybody apologetically making way on the dance floor, you'll be aggressively pushed (or in my case, stepped on).
Anyway, I might end up going again but know what to expect.
Located at the Tropicana Hotel in AC it is by far my least favorite place in Atlantic City, Well not too sure where to begin on this one? Â
the place is not very big & then on top of that of course it gets too crowded , the music is usually all over the place & the crowed , well kinda ghetto fab?
the cool thing are the screen's u can use to text message people , something u don't c every day. overall the place is ok , drinks are a bit pricey.
"Meh" is right the fuck on. Then again, this is how I feel about almost all clubs.
Was here a little ways back for a random night trip - "Hey, everyone! Let's go to AC!" Hung out in the Tropicana, played some games, and then decided to go to the club.
This place has all the normal pop-culture trappings of a club. Dim lighting, top 40 music, huge crowds, expensive drinks, and a bunch of women who are better than you, but not better than your money.
You start off in line. The first set of bouncers decide whether you look hip enough to enter. After passing that test, you receive a little ticket stub. No, you weren't cool enough to get in for free - that just lets the cashier around the corner know how much you need to pay. On a Saturday night, 25 for dicks, 15 for chicks.
You finally get inside after being patted down by a second set of bouncers and paying cover. The place itself is relatively nice aside from the odyssey you have to undertake to get to the bathroom. Would have made more sense to put it next to the bar, instead of all the way across the dance floor. But, just like any popular club, it's just too god damned crowded.
But, whatever. I went in expecting that. I was there with friends, so I had an alright time.
Pros:
- Large space, you can work out some elbow room
- The DJs hit some pretty good grooves
- Open late
- Fight! Fiiiight! (Bar fights excite me)
Cons:
- DJs can hit some really BAD grooves
- Expensive
- Lame fight! Those two can't fight for shit!
- Unmemorable drinks (then again, who goes to a club expecting good drinks?)
- Faux-classy. Which, to me, is worse than trashy.
- Lines. God damnit, lines. If I wanted to wait in lines, I'd have moved to commie Russia.
Pro-tip: If you are a guy, come with friends, and be prepared to deal with some catty women who aren't good looking enough to warrant such behavior. Then again, according to me, NO ONE is good looking enough to warrant such behavior.
Came here on a Thursday night for my friend's 30th b-day. The music/DJ was fine. A fair selection/mix was played throughout the night. The cute part of this club was that they have TV screens on the wall. And you can text a message on it for others to see.
Considering it was a weeknight, it was pretty full. There was a $10 cover charge. And we didn't have to wait in line.
My reason for this low rating is because apparently this bar adds tip to your bill when you order drinks. Two of the girls bought drinks when we first got there so I didn't pull out my credit card. When I bought drinks for 2 of the girls and myself, the bill came out to $30 which I was pretty surprised since they were around an 8 oz size glass. I'm not usually a big tipper but I added a tip when I got my receipt since there was a line for gratuity. Come to find out from one of the other girls that the bartender TOLD her tip was already included in her bill. But NO ONE at the bar told me that when I bought drinks.
I called the bar the next day and the response I got from the worker: "It's not our responsibility to advise patrons of whether tip is added to the bill." Um, really?! I actually think it IS.
So basically I feel like they deceived me and tricked me into paying their own workers.
I think the only reason people come out here on a Thursday night is because of Industry night.
This is the club inside of the Trop. I have been here twice and I absolutely love it! If you sign up online ahead of time for the "guest list"...you can skip the line. What cracked me up was the last time we went we had about 7 HOT girls and my friend's boyfriend....and they still charged him cover. I mean, come on!
Drinks are a bit pricey but it's AC. They're strong too, but they fill them up RIGHT to the brim so I usually end up spilling half of it. Dance floor is great, they play a nice mix of top 40, some remixes and a little bit of electronic (but nothing that touches the Pool). My friends did bottle service, but I didn't go upstairs. They have podiums that girls dance on as well...but usually, these are NOT the girls you want to see up on a pedestal shaking it to "Drop it Low".
I figured dress to impress was required...but people had jeans on. Definitely no sneakers for guys and heels or boots for ladies!
Probably one of my favorite spots to dance in AC.
I'm going to give the Prov three stars; it's more like 2.5 in my eyes. I went here about  a year and a half ago with two of my old college friends on a bit of a reunion. It was a lot of fun, and we had a good night.
Went here recently for a girls weekend, and we decided to mix things up saturday night and go to the trop to eat and party. After a yummy dinner at il verde, we headed back the quarter to go to providence. it was pretty early, 11pm ish.
when we got to the line, there was a mess of people- about 8-10 heads of what looked like a bachelorette party. apparently they weren't being let in because two girls were wearing flip flops. c'mon ladies, 1. its' november and 2. would it hurt to put on a pump? anyway, not to hate, but after some hassle, they were turned away (after asking where they could buy shoes?) they let us in with a fifteen dollar cover. their dress code is strict, but you can get away with nice jeans, actual shoes (no flip flop sandal looking stuff either or sneakers) or boots, and a nice top.
inside, it was super crowded. the dj was lame, and interrupted every other second to ask the all important questions of who here is an independent lady, who here is getting some tonight, etc etc. anyway, it was kind of annoying, and at one point his laptop skipped a beat and there was radio silence for like 10 seconds. that's fine at like a basement party, but not so much in the club.
the aforementioned bachelorette party did make an appearance (there were many short ladies in the group and one of them had an unfortunate amy winehouse inspired beehive- she probably barely knew the others since if she was my friend i would not let her out of the hotel room like that) so i guess they found shoes.there were many bachelorette parties, most of which were on one of the two raised platforms, dancing like they had been drinking since 4pm. Â the crowd was mixed, which is nice and all, but no eye candy at all. None At All. zilch. to add to the creepiness factor of the place, there was a group of creepy looking dudes taking way too many pics of the poor ladies gyrating on the platform to some sort of weird lady gaga/80s song mash up.
i guess the straws that broke the camel's back was when we ran into an arrogant ex boyfriend of a college friends of ours who asked very aggressively, what we were doing there, and the one nasty looking woman who whipped her smoke-scented long hair all over the place that it went into my friend's mouth. exactly. drinks are expensive. the decor is nice and very fun, sometimes they have fake snow or soap or whatever fall from the sky. they have a fun texting screen you can text drunken messages to, but you'll get texts from providence for weeks on end (as i learned the first time around) for free admission, so i guess that's good, because i'd really hesitate to pay to go back in there.
Nice big space located in tropicana. Â drink prices are reasonable. Â good music, good crowd. Â went for halloween eve this year and it was nice and packed (like everywhere else that night). Â
there's also one in nyc i go to more often. Â i think this one might have been a tad bigger but i usually leave with quite a buzz (if not more. Â probably more.) Â Plenty of room to dance and mingle even when packed.
Some people really hate on NJ... but if there is one thing people in Jersey know how to do well it's to have a good time.
This club is ideal if you stay at the Tropicana, like people mentioned this place is literally inside the Tropicana (Imagine a mall and Providence packed in there). Â So that means even if you are feeling a bit tipsy you should have no problem getting back to your room safely because literally you will remain indoors the whole time (for ladies I am sure safety is one of your main concerns). Â With that being said... here is the overall breakdown of the club:
Crowd: Mainly early to late 20s with bunches of early 30s here and there. Â A lot of bachelorette parties were going on the night I was there and I imagine that happens alot..
Not alot of diversity either... other than of course my group lol..
Was all right around 10:30.. and there were people dancing but as each hour passed on and on it became more and more crowded (I am talking like up until 3am, remember we are at a Casino so there should always be a crowd of people looking to club).
I would say like a 50/50 ratio of girls to guys.
Music/Atmosphere: I don't remember the name of the DJ spinning but it was a great mix to dance to all night. Â Mostly hip hop (which I like) but also some danceable techno mixes (and by danceable I mean with girls not some lame ass euro shit where you spazz out by yourself on the dancefloor). Â Also one thing about Jersey people (and jersey girls in general.. pay attention guys) is that they will dance like it's their job none of that stupid shit you see where people create a circle of life in the middle of the dance floor or pretend to be a cell tower aka post up with their cellphones by the wall. Â So.. if you are confident and don't come off as a sleaze (aka aproach from side and not ram into them from the back) you will have a great time dancing with girls and from there it's up to you and her.
Setup: Â The club is basically set up like this, you get into one of two lines (regular or table reservations), if you are in the regular line expect to wait like around 30 minutes (they do try to get people in there as quick as they can). Â There are two floors, the main floor is just one huge space and you take the staircase upstairs to a smaller balcony area overlooking the main floor. Â The dancefloor is in the center of the main floor. Â Tables are available in the balcony and along the sides of the main floor. Â Getting a drink at the bar is fairly easy (if you don't want to wait just go to the smaller bar on the second floor).
Costs: $30 cover... uh no.. I mean it was a okay club for the convenience but seriously I guess this is what happens when you basically own the nightlife in a part of town.
Drinks are also like 6$ for a bottle beer and 10$+ for mixed drinks.. basically NYC or DC prices.
Overall even though I didn't like the cover, I can't say that I didn't have a great time, and the people in my group certainly did as well. Â You're in Atlantic City.. might as well enjoy it, and this is a safe and fun choice if you are staying in the Tropicana or even Days Inn.
Let me begin by saying it was Halloween Eve and I arrived a bit late so I may revise my review after another visit.
The club is located inside the Tropicana within a clever reimagining of an Arabian market place complete with several stores, other bars, fountains and even an artificial sky ceiling. I give the surrounding atmosphere an A+.
Even though we had arrived close to midnight, we only waited about 10 mins to get in. Once inside, we were greeted by a zoo, apparently our wait in line was so short because they were just cramming as many people as the club could fit. To the immediate left was one of the bars, to the far right was the main bar, between them was the dance floor and surrounding the dance floor were several tables and booths for bottle service. Upstairs is another bar complimented with more booths and tables as well as the balcony for the DJ which all overlook the dance floor.
The Good: the club itself looks nice and the view from upstairs is great. The bathrooms were kept clean with the attendant being very attentive. The dj was pretty on point for most of the night with some great mash-ups. I liked the laser lighting, artificial snow blowing from the ceiling and the fog filled bubbles falling from the dj booth.
The Bad: they allowed way too many people with it being impossible to move around. The drinks were a bit pricey, which is typical for AC. This was the stickiest floor I had ever stepped foot on to the point that some janitors were mixed in the crowd trying to mop up. Speaking of janitors, it was very annoying having them trying to nudge pass you to put empty glasses they found on the bars, apparently their English wasn't too good so they would just push through people without an 'excuse me'.
I still managed to have a good time even with it's shortcomings. As I stated before it was Halloween Eve so my expectations were set to being a bit annoyed. I intend to visit again soon and edit my review if I have a (hopefully) better experience. My advice, give it a try.
I'll preface this review by saying I was about a drink and a half away from passing out by the time I got to Providence, but, from what I can remember, it was a pretty good time.
Oh God, one paragraph in and I'm already "that guy."
Anyway, I was going with a pretty large group (about a year and a half ago) but only four of us were on the list. We got in right away. Everyone else waited in line for about 2 minutes. The place is definitely not exclusive at all, but that doesn't bother me too much as long as the clientele is not too scummy and the it offers a good time. I don't expect and AC club to have a very tough door.
Walking in, I remember feeling like everyone must have been as drunk as I was. The place was pretty crazy and it wasn't that late yet. People were all over each other, girls were dancing in cages and the girls I was with were up on the platforms.
I, in a drunken stupor, couldn't keep tabs on where my friends were, but I wandered around the dance floor and had a lot fun anyway. The music was very good and kept everyone moving. The lights and colors and sounds were almost overly-stimulating. There was so much going on around me, I couldn't focus on anything. Eventually, after what seemed like hours (but was probably only 20 minutes), foam started falling from the ceiling and that was it for me. It was too much to handle in my state. I (quickly) made my way back to my hotel room. You can fill in the rest on your own.
Another thing I remember is paying $20 for a cover (even with being on the list) and $16 for a vodka & something. Make of that what you will.
This was a fun place. Definitely not the best club I've been too. But not the worst either. Â Prices are too high for what they are offering, though.
A solid place to go a little wild if your OK with the less-than-desirable crowd....which I may have contributed to that night.
I'm not the stereotypical club girl so I can't compare the other AC clubs but I had a fantastic time. It was a Saturday night and celebrating my friend's bachelorette party. Our cover was $10 but I'm pretty sure we were on a list and from what I understand, no flashy bachelorette gear is allowed (?). If you were born in the 80's, then this is your style of music. The dj had small re-mixes (not full songs) that really made this a 4 star review. If you're going with a group we ( over 10 of us) had no problem dancing. Don't be naive, yes it still gets a little crowded but c'mon it's a club. Generally, the crowd is your typical club goers aka fist-pumpers but we fit in fine. One day, I'll go back but not anytime soon.
Question: Why are there so many cleaning people around? At one point I was kind of forced to dance with one because they are EVERYWHERE....wtf? Strange.
Providence is a pretty standard club on the Atlantic City circuit. Thus far, I have only been on a Thursday, but the girls and I definitely had a fun night regardless.
We put our name on the list ahead of time, and didn't have any problems getting inside. The drinks were strong, with average prices for AC.
Music got better as the night went on, and so did the crowd. I was surprised that it didn't start picking up until almost 1 AM...that also seemed to be the time when the men were finally liquored enough to start being slightly grimey...but that pretty much happens anywhere you go.
Definitely looking forward to going back again, hopefully sometime this summer!
Went to Providence on a Thursday night in April. Â Was able to walk right in at around 11pm with no line, and paid a $10 cover. Â We must have got there at the right time, because it was decently crowded when we came in, but quickly filled up. Â We had planned to walk over to Trop and gamble a little to get some free drinks on the casino floor, then proceed to Providence, but skipped that, and clearly we needed to pregame more. Â Beers are $6 inside, and mixed drinks about double. Â After about an hour, we realized we weren't nearly drunk enough to enjoy ourselves. Â
Ended up going back to the hotel, ripping some shots, and heading back. Â We were able to get right back in, which was nice, as re-entry isn't guaranteed. Â It seems right when we were entering, it was right before a bulk of people left the club. Â When it cleared a bit, it was nice to have just a little breathing room. Â Being one of the few clubs opened on Thursday, we heard this was "the place" to be, but it seemed that it just wasn't a busy night. Â I still had a good time, the music was alright. Â The text boards in the club were entertaining, good way to put funny messages about friends. Â Also, you can get your picture with the "Jersey Shore" cast outside of the entrance. Â Not sure what to expect when it's jam packed, but I couldn't complain about my experience. Â 3.5 stars, but ill bump it up since we were able to get in both times without a line.
I lived in Providence (the actual city in RI)for a long time...and I might have stayed if it looked like this club. Â LOL. Â But alas, it does not. Â So the name did kinda throw me off. Â
Otherwise, this is a pretty cool dance club in AC. Â I liked the dark ambiance and the general feel of the club. Â What I didn't like was the DJ. Â I agree with some of the other reviewers...what is up with changing the song 10 seconds into it. Â Kinda lame! Â Anyway, drinks were pricey, but to be expected. Â The crowd was fun and seemed mixed. Â
I was there to see a friend that lives down that way and we had a good time.
Role of the night: Bestie's Maid of Honor
Mission: Provide the best bachelorette party as possible and don't go broke
I was tempted to get us table service at one of the big clubs in AC but where's the fun in that?! (Also, pretty expensive given there weren't that many of us.) Instead we decided to roam the Quarter at the Tropicana and do "the tour" aka as many bars and clubs in one night as possible.
I got us on the guestlist for Providence ahead of time by signing up online. One of the girls in our group asks, 'So, guestlist. What does that mean?' and I reply '...Huh, I have no idea. Guess we'll have to see.'
We approached the bouncer who directed us across the way to another line for those on the guestlist. Apparently, it entails a $10 cover (instead of $20) and skipping the hooplah at the other line.
We walked inside and straight to the back where there was room to dance (and breathe). On a Saturday night, Providence was packed with a colorful range of people on different intoxication levels and the DJ was mixing some typical hip hop and pop. Shots are expensive, at least $12 each wtf booo! On an ambiance level, Providence is lacking; basically it felt like one of those clubs in an uninspiring warehouse space. Would it hurt to hire an interior decorator?!
We had a glorious night and I filled my memory card with priceless debaucherous bachelorette party pics, some that were promptly deleted the next day. Of course the night I (semi)remembered had to do more with my girls' company rather than the club atmosphere. Not bad, but I wouldn't pay $20 to spend a night at Providence!
