Love their craft beer selections and menu. So many choices of beer that it takes awhile to go through the list. Food is also good. Â I ordered a chicken dish but it came out undercooked. Â Told the waitress that my chicken was a bit raw. Â Waitress apologized took back the dish and prepared a new one for me. The manager personally brought my new dish and made sure that the chicken was cooked through. Â I call that 'professional' service. Â I am now a regular.
Review Source:I am conflicted with this place...
As a beer bar, 4 stars. TONS of beers on tap and in the bottle. The menus are well designed and organized; it's easy to see what they've got, and how much it is. The beer was fresh and the glassware was clean and well rinsed. The variety of brewers and styles was quite nice too. Not just the usual suspects here. The Weihenstephaner Fresh Hops 2013 vintage was on tap during this visit and it was fantastic; I've never seen that beer on tap or in bottles before or since.
I'd take points off because the server lacked any real beer knowledge (which seems to be a huge problem at beer bars. Why is that? Wine bars don't tend to have this problem, do they?). Also, marks down for the atmosphere. I know you can't really control who patronizes your establishment, but on this particular visit, it was quite douchey... So I'll say points off for having a life size Jenga game in the middle of your dining floor. It's not necessary and it's too damn loud!
As a restaurant, 3 stars. I admit that I had a hard time picking out what I wanted, but I ended up with an extremely greasy sandwich and shoestring french fries. If you've read my previous reviews, I'm a big advocate of hand cut fries. Something as simple, cheap and easy as the potato gets under looked at most establishments, and settling for pre-packed frozen potato slivers is a travesty! The wife had the meatballs, and they were actually quite good... I don't recall which sandwich I had, but I think it fell into a Valdez sized oil slick and it had to be drained off before I could really enjoy it... so next time, no sandwich for this guy.
Our server was nice enough, but again, not knowledgeable. The food was a little disappointing, but not to the point to deter me from visiting again. I'd like to come back soon after hitting the paint creek trail and enjoy some great beer, and (hopefully) some great food.
I really thought this place was going to be a unique experience with their extensive beer selection. cool logo and beautiful building. Â But that wasn't the case... after two tries I have realized that perception can be misleading.
I don't feel bad for giving this place a one star in the least bit, from management to the staff they all sucked.  The hostesses were clueless and more into their drama than doing their job.  The waitress that can't count... a party of three and only gives us one menu and never saw her again. The manager when approached and asked where our waitress was at, responded by saying I'll get someone to table immediately.  Another 5 to 10 minutes pass and still no service.  So we just got up and walked out.  From the time I checked in... to the time we walked out... it was almost 25 minutes of wasted time. Totally unacceptable in my opinion  considering the place wasn't like crazy busy or packed on a Friday night.
This place is also one of the most irresponsible food peddlers in the state. Cardiac arrest, high carb and obesity food at a high price. Â Which will cost you even more in the long run on pharmaceuticals, personal trainers, doctor visits and possibly a triple bypass in my opinion. Â Save your self, Â save your money, save your arteries and save your shapely figure and find something that a healthier choice to eat at. Â This place does more harm to the community they're in than serving it. Â
I don't plan on ever returning and thank god I couldn't find anything on their menu that was suitable for my healthy lifestyle the first time I was there. It was all about the beer for me and they blew it.
The Clubhouse is easily my new favorite restaurant, offering beer flights, delicious food, and a comfortable atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by the Ploughmans Tray, which is wrongly described as a "small plate." It is a delicious (and large) spread of cheese, olives, meat, and bread. Their Pretzel Burger is good, but not anything to write home about. The deep fried Oreos are to-die-for, which is no surprise. I will be a returning costumer!
Review Source:If you know me you know I stay the hell away from Oakland County whenever possible. But we got Naomi's prom dress at Flirty Fashions which meant three (THREE!) trips to the awfulness of Oakland.
Luckily for us we'd heard about this place and 2:3 times stopped in. The beer selection is f'cking amazing and the food is great, to boot. There was also a Yelp check-in offer both times we came. Niiiiiiiiice.
Burgers, finger foods and sandwiches are clever, nicely prepared and super tasty with selections that will please everyone in your party. Beer is king here but even non-suds lovin' folk, if such a breed exists, will love it!
Best beer selection in the area (huge amount and very diverse), food is great, wait staff knowledgeable (I can think of an instance otherwise, but usually on point), spacious, a lot of parking, big TVs if you're there for people throwing balls about. Special events = free stuff, 1/2 of MI beer on Sundays. Bar tenders allow you to sample before committing. A little pricey, but expected for a craft beer bar.
Review Source:If you cannot find a beer you like here, then you don't like beer! Â Great beer selection, flights available if you want to try a few different things in moderation.
The look and feel of this place is great! Â Patio open while the weather is nice.
Close to biking trails too, so when you need a break from the trails have a seat and order pint.
Food was very good. Â The hot pretzel app is very good. Â Sweet potato tots are also very yummy and would be enough to share as an app with a few people!
A moose, a ping pong paddle & a giant game of Jenga. This is no joke, none of them walk into a bar, this is the Clubhouse!
We walked in, grabbed the last two seats at the bar & were served up a paddle flight with four of their draft beers from one of many beers they have on tap. Â The two that really stuck out to me were the Goose Island Nut Brown & my favorite that night the Genny Cream. Â We couldn't resist checking in on Yelp & grabbing a free order of their Bavarian pretzels rods with a kick ass mustard dipping sauce and a queso cheese dip. Â The Clubhouse has plenty of things to look at while you take in a beer & chill with your buddies or date. Â After are free pretzel rods we tried the chips, guacamole & pico. Â If I wouldn't have enjoyed those pretzels so much I may have enjoyed them even more, but the homemade guacamole was good. Â This was a great night to hang at the bar and watch "Animal" strike out 17 in the Tigers 10-0 win over the Braves. Â After our appetizers & all the beer we decided to split a "Nifty's Choice" burger. Â A cute round Angus burger cooked to a perfect medium served on a soft bun with bibb lettuce, mayo & a single fried onion ring served with some of the best shoe string style french fries! I can not stress enough how top notch the service was at the bar! Â I lost count of how many people grabbed us a beer, or brought us our food. Â I was so happy when I was offered a sample of a beer before I rolled the dice on a whole glass of beer I never had before. Â I tried 5 beers & liked every one of them. Â I'm sure I'll be back & the Clubhouse is so worth checking out if you wanna try some new beers & grab a bite to eat.
HUGE!! Â I MEAN HUGE beer list - Tap, Bottles, from Michigan and around the world! Â If you don't know about beer the staff is more than willing to "learn" ya! Â
We had several appetizers: Chicken wings, soft pretzel, chips and salsa, and chips and dip! Â All were very good...who needs dinner when apps are this good!
This is a definite do-over! Â I'll gladly go back!
Went here tonight for a Yelp get-together! I'd like to go back and have a meal - we had all appetizers, complimentary of Yelp. The chips and salsa were great, the salsa is homemade like Bahama Breeze's, and we also had the warm pretzel sticks, chicken wings, and homemade potato chips, I think they were.
I'm not a huge beer person but I tried the beer flight and was pleasantly surprised. I still have the receipt with the beer names so that I know what I liked, for next time :) and you get them in a ping-pong paddle with holes cut out for the cups! Very creative. Mine ended up being about $11.75 for 4 beers (beer sampler cups) which is a little pricey, but there are cheaper options - two of mine were $1.50, I think, and then the other two were around $4. All of the beer I got was sweet, as requested, and the waiter knew his stuff when I asked him to recommend some beers for me.
I will hopefully be back to Clubhouse BFD sometime soon! I live in Troy and seem to always venture south (Royal Oak) or west (Bham, Novi, etc.) but perhaps I should start venturing North (Rochester Hills) more often.
I had a great experience at Clubhouse BFD this past Friday night. I was with a group of 8, I contacted the restaurant and was told that they did not take reservations but did have call ahead seating and I was put on the list. When we arrived a table was ready for us. The Beer Menu was great, a lot of different options and selections. The beer prices were reasonable.
Food was delicious....if you check in on yelp you got a free Bavarian pretzel which was so good. I had the French onion soup and sweet potato tots (Filled up on Pretzel and Beer). Everyone at the table was happy with the food.
My only complaint is that it was very loud in there so it was hard to talk but that is what I would expect of a bar style restaurant.
This place is great in so many ways, so why didn't I give it 5 starts, well it's almost there, I'll address it in the food section.
Beverage: Â Wow, if you can't find something you like on tap or in a bottle then you really don't like beer. Â You may be slightly overwhelmed by the selection, but there is a Beer Dude On Duty or a knowledgeable bartender that can lead you in the right direction. Â If you truly are not a beer person don't worry, there are plenty of other options, Cider, full bar and non-alcoholic drinks.
Service: Â My husband and I usually sit at the bar and have never had bad service. Â The bartenders remember us and even my weird little quirks. Â In the rare case we end up at a table, the servers are decent and friendly. Â Â
Food: Â There are so many really great things on this menu. Â I almost can never pass on the pretzel sticks with cheese and honey mustard, the Maurice salad is perfect, the ribs are fall off the bone yummy and the sandwiches never disappoint. Â I recommend the turkey Reuben on a pretzel roll. Â So why a 4.5 (if I could) and not a 5 star? Â Well, there are a few things I wouldn't recommend the half-chicken was very fatty and I have to agree that the chicken fingers could use fine tuning on the coating. Â Ok, so I'm more at a 4.75.
Another thing that would be great is if they had a weekly special. Â It's obvious from their menu that whoever came up with it has some skills to be creative and really keep things interesting. Â
Last but not least one thing I need to start reviewing at every restaurant the BATHROOM:
I can say it is clean and decent. Â As with most restaurants it looks like when they renovated the rest of the place the bathroom was forgotten. Also, It would be awesome if there was a garbage can close to the door for us germ-a-phobes that like to use paper towel to open the door.
Yeah, this place is a bar but they don't serve low-grade bar food and commoner beer. They have an awesome selection of beers for the beer snob (a.k.a me) and your regular Joe beers. Really, the fine selection of Michigan beers is what really endeared this place to me.
I came here on a surprisingly busy Thursday night with a friend and ordered "The Remedy", a mouth-water amalgamation of fried eggs, avocado, tomato, and hot sauce with fries. The land speed record for devouring a sandwich was more or less set that day for southeast Michigan.
To put the frothy head on the beer, this place has a great Yelp deal! Right now, it's a free Bavarian pretzel small plate (a $7.50 value). Any time I present a Yelp deal to a waitress/waiter, there is always a momentary pause where I have to explain the arcane coupon because it's likely they have never seen it before, but this guy recognized it right away and brought the free appetizer even faster.
Great job, BFD, I'll be back for sure.
I previously had a poor review, it was the perfect storm of things that went wrong. Â I was shocked however when the owner contacted me and had genuine interest in what I thought, taking an active approach to fixing issues rather than shrugging them off. Â Since my last visit nearly a month ago I noticed a few things that were a direct result of the problems we had. Â
So with everything, the food is still delicious with interesting twists, the beer menu is great, and the waiter we had was a polar opposite of last time, very knowledgeable of the beer, making suggestions to make a new dish when we were torn between two, and really helping us out when needed but staying away while we enjoyed the environment and meal, though only a nod of our head until he came back.
I'm really glad we gave this place a second shot, as it could easily be a normal visit for our date nights.
After several recommendations and drooling over the beer menu, we decided to go to Clubhouse BFD for dinner this weekend.
It was nice to be able to walk in around 6:30 on a Saturday night & get seated right away. A long wait is never fun. Our waiter presented us with their beer menu & explained how it's listed. He asked us if it was our first time there, and assumed that we didn't know anything about craft beer. If he had asked us that question, he could've saved his breath a little. We might be a little new to the craft beer scene, but we're not totally inexperienced.
We ordered a flight of 4, which is served with a ping pong paddle, but that doesn't stay with the beers. He set them up in the order that he put them into their system & gave us the print out. We've only ordered flights at One-Eyed Betty's, so we weren't impressed. OEB actually writes on their boards in front of the beer, which is a much better presentation. Clubhouse BFD seem to switch up their taps often, which is good. I was happy to see some familiar beers that I wanted to try on tap.
My husband ordered the mac & cheese with grilled chicken and I ordered the philly french dip sandwich. Both were pretty good. My sandwich would've been better if the food server didn't spill 1/2 the au jus all over the plate as she walked over. Fortunately, there were clean plates at our table, so the sandwich wasn't sitting in au jus as I was trying to eat it. Unfortunately, the sandwich was already pretty soaked. I didn't need to cup of au jus & I definitely couldn't take 1/2 home.
I thought it was sort of weird that there was a bunch of staff walking around the tables. They weren't doing anything except looking at the tables. We had empty glasses & plates. Our waiter wasn't really around much. So.....I'm not really sure what the purpose was of having so much staff when they don't actually help out with the tables.
All in all....it was OK.
For beer knurds (sorry; Texas reference), this place is Nirvana.
I've dined here nearly a dozen times and have never been disappointed.
Beer offerings are deep and obscure for the non-cognoscenti; no mass domestics to be found.
Menu is spectacular with layers of offerings; something for everyone. Â Everything I've tried from the mussels, the meatballs (AMAZING), the short rib, Belgian fries, Shrimp tacos have all been flawless, and I don't say that lightly.
One of the best desserts I've had since I moved to Michigan: Â BFD's fried Oreos. Â Not for the faint of heart, but OMG.
All in all, a stellar destination for the hop-and-malt fanatics.
This may very well be my favorite bar ever.
Over the years, I've become a beer snob. My friend drinks Coors and I'd rather drink my own urine. That's why I love BFD. The beer menu is always different, and there's always a new IPA to try. It's like picking your character in Mario 2. They all have their plusses and minuses. They lean on the more expensive side, but it's craft beer so I have no problem paying more.
As if the beer wasn't enough, the food is also fantastic. I've fallen in love with the Miami Burger, which is a spin on the Cuban sandwich. Pickles, ham and an awesome bun. They also have a burger on a pretzel bun. Pretzel buns are slowly eclipsing bacon as things that make a hamburger amazing. The french onion soup is also good, I hear.
There's lots of TVs, and the service is always great. Also, it's never too packed, even on a Saturday night, so it's not a problem getting all 6 of my idiot friends a seat. There's a huge rock made Jenga game too, but it looks like it draws too much attention, and I'm not at a bar for attention.
Protip: Check in on Yelp and get a free soft pretzel appetizer for the table.
I stumbled upon Clubhouse BFD when I found myself craving a fancy beer after a day of hiking at a nearby metropark. I had really low expectations; being situated in the parking lot of a weird hotel on a main road near a highway and looking from the outside like it was pretending to be a chain restaurant were all red flags that this was a Clubhouse for lame-os. But I was so wrong!
The beer list was exactly what I was looking for. It was huge and everything sounded great, making it hard to decide what to order. I liked that each beer came in its own special glass. It's little touches like that which show you that the owners really care about your experience and the integrity of the products that they serve.
Everything on the menu sounded great, mostly new & fresh twists on classic comfort food. We ordered some shrimp tacos and they were perfect. I've had similar dishes in several other establishments, and so far CBFD has been the only one to really master the avocado crema/crispy slaw thing. I would order it again for sure. I wish this place wasn't so far away from me so I could come back and try the black bean burger.
I don't like writing bad reviews, but this one unfortunately is going to be a bad one. Â I was here on a first date and pretty much as soon as we sat down the waitress spilled an entire glass of water on the table in front of me and most of it ended up in my lap. Â I was wearing jeans, which do not dry very fast and I sat through the meal feeling like I wet my pants. Â It was terrible!
I understand that this was a total accident and I'm sure the waitress felt terrible but it did ruin my entire dinning experience here. Â From what I do remember the food was ok, which is why they got the 2-stars instead of just one.
I want to love this place. Â Duchesee de Bourgogne seems to always be on tap - WIN.
Varied selection and good FB updates with tap changes.  Beer menu available at: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.beermenus.com%2Fplaces%2F4394-clubhouse-bfd&s=fbb0e0efb1a781f03d176fafde59957db00b26a6a79a1630c08ec14188f37443" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.beermenus.com…</a> and also through their webpage.
Yes, as far as a beer bar this is a good place - but I am on the fence regarding the praise they received with the listing in Draft Magazine as one of the top 100 beer bars in America.
I have only eaten here twice - had a good burger and also mac n cheese, would recommend both. Â Chicken wings were great. Â Have only sat at the bar, and I honestly love the bar and the bartender service - no complaints. Â Liquor options are limited yet of better quality. Â Atmosphere is cool, comfortable place to enjoy good bevy. Â Would like to hang out with a crew at the sofa and lounge chairs.
If you want a good beer bar, anticipate beers on the pricey side. Â Good beer should not be cheap, I understand this. Â Plan to spend money here, unless you are enjoying yellow fizzy beer (which I think is cool that the only option is Genesee Cream Ale) and I did see domestics in cans in the fridges. Â I will hopefully enjoy more food here over time and continue to enjoy the good beer selections. Â
Even though I live near this place, there is an alternative beer bar in Ferndale that I am more likely to seek out, especially if I want a meal.
This was my first visit - sorry to be the dissenting voice here...maybe we just hit the place on a bad night? I ordered the chicken fingers and fries. Â Shoestring fries were good, chicken fingers, not so much. Â Had a really odd batter and they were not very hot/warm. Â Another person had the pork sandwich and had to send it back. Â The waiter was VERY good about taking the food back and asking her what she wanted. Â She ordered the pierogi and the manager brought them out and apologized for her not liking the pork. Â It's all good up until that point when he said "If you don't mind, I'm going to wait here and watch you eat one to be sure you like them." Talk about AWKWARD.
As I said, our waiter was pleasant, though got a bit slow as the night went on. Â We were there on a busy Saturday night, they seemed a bit short staffed. Â Yes, the beer selection is good, but, lots of other great choices in the area with better food & good beer too.
The beer selection at this place is INSANE! I've learned that it's better to have too many choices than not enough. The first time my boyfriend and I came here we were looking for a place to watch the football game. There are at least 15 tv's around the restaurant and when they didn't put the game he wanted on right away we asked and they had no problem changing the one right in front of our table for us. I got several beers in the tasting size and it was served to me in a ping pong paddle which I thought was very creative. The second time we went there we were there for lunch and it was happy hour. All the MI beers were on sale and that made me very happy. The food is good, I'm not going to say its AMAZING, but it definitely is filling and yummy. I had perogis and tater tots the first time and they were good, not wonderful, but good. The second time we came here I had the Pulled Pork sliders, which were DELISH... I had to ask for another bun though because they overstuffed the 3 little sliders so much that stuff was falling out all over the place. Messy, but worth it....
With it's convenient location and wonderfully overwhelming beer list I will definitely be going back to Clubhouse BFD.
They've got a lot of beers, but not enough good ones. that maybe part of the appeal for the patrons that they always have a revolving door of taps, but a bar should settle on a core of good beers and then rotate some of the remaining taps.
they only had one bells selection and it was the two hearted in a bottle!
come on guys! everyone knows bells is the best brewery in michigan- show them some love!
Great overall bar/restaurant. I have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. They have a great beer selection and even better food. You can't miss with any of their burgers and my new found favorite is the shrimp tacos. You only get two though... I am always craving that third taco.
The service has always been good, very friendly staff.
They also have a $19 porterhouse on the menu (16oz). I have seen others eating this and it looks delicious, and seems like a good deal.
So since my first review Clubhouse BFD has become my go to bar. I don't really see any reason to go elsewhere.
Time to wax poetic.
I've sampled a vast majority of the menu and have absolutely nothing negative to say. The new addition of a hummus platter has become a staple in my diet.
I have gotten to know a good chunk of their staff over the past few months. Apparently, they have not had a single turnover since opening. Jay and Brad are awesome. you may know them as your BDOD's. Both have a great attitude and know their shit. Jay knows what styles of beer I enjoy and lets me know when he is going to put some super awesome beer on tap. All the bartenders are great. Funny and full of good mixes off the taps. We always have the same server when we go here. Connor also knows his shit and helps with my indecisiveness on what to drink. He always has a good comeback for my not-so-lighthearted ribbing. That is, when he isn't watching tv on the hutch.
40 taps with 10 more coming soon, 100+ bottles, awesome food, and a stellar staff make this my favorite place to eat and drink.
Thank you to everyone who makes this place possible. I can't wait for the birthday party!
I was very happy with the service of this restaurant. Â Our waiter was Prompt and friendly. Â The only negative comment is that we felt rushed.
In terms of the space, it was very nice, lots of big TVs and stuff, but the seating was extraordinarily uncomfortable. It seemed like I was sitting on a chair that was made by someone who has never sat down. Â The beer selection was outstanding, with a beer for anyone and everyone's pallet!
I ordered the shrimp taco, and it was very good! portion size was excellent. Overall a great experience!
The decor and feel of the place is pretty cool, a bit loud but that was expected.  I know its listed as a sports bar, but  I wouldn't come here to watch a game, so the endless line of digital screens only took away from the place.
The beer selection is great. Â On paper the food sounds just as good. Â But sadly everything we got seemed just a stand-in for the real thing. Â Not bad at all, but not matching the quality of the beer selection and decor.
The SPAM-puck appetizer did however qualify as the worst thing I have ordered in a very long time. Â I give them big credit for trying, but sometimes when you try to go way out, you end up falling over.
Clubhouse BFD was almost a 5 star for me as I enjoyed the food, the service, the beer, and everything else about the restaurant. The price was a little steep and that made me decide on 4 stars.
Clubhouse BFD has plenty of parking. They have nice greeters at the door. We had to wait just for a bit and they have a cute little waiting area where you can sit and order a beer from the amazingly long beer choice lists. Yes I said lists. If you are a craft beer person- you will be in heaven.
Our waiter was super attentive and friendly. I was with a table of 4 and eveyone enjoyed their meals. I am a vegetarian, so I chose the black bean burger and I have to say that this was the tastiest black bean burger I have ever had. Super delicious- and so much so that I want to revisit this place just to get one. Â The waiter recommended beer for me and he did a great job. Â Loved it.
The manager, Brad, is wonderful. He came over and asked us all how we were doing and if we liked our meals. He told us about some of the special foods that they have there as well.
Bathrooms were clean and well lit. The restaurant itself was clean and had a great atmosphere. There are decorations all around to look at and lots of HD tvs on the walls.
My food was awesome, so it was worth the price, but the bill was 90.00 for 4 of us- I guess that is good, but too pricey for me to go often. Â Highly recommended just the same. If you have extra cash to spend- don't miss this place!
Great, GREAT place!
You like food? Â They have food. Â GOOD food. Â From the appetizers to the meals, you can't go wrong with their menu.
You want beer? Â They have a kajillion taps staring you in the face as soon as you walk in.
You don't like draught and want it in a bottle? Â They've got hundreds of brands in bottles behind the bar waiting for you.
You like it in the can? Â You'll enjoy...
...wait, this review is suddenly going someplace I didn't mean for it to go...
...anyway, another great "local" place that's easy to get to, has great drink and food specials, and welcomes groups with open arms. Â Outdoor seating when the weather's nice.
Definitely a "keeper". Â The brewmaster sat down and killed about two hours chatting with a buddy and I about the various beers on tap, the food, their process and how they do things...and I've seen him do the same with others. Â So definitely a friendly place that wants to be on your roster.
When I was on location in Michigan for 3 months, BFD's became my local hangout.
I first came here off a late shift from work with one hour left to celebrate my birthday. Â Flash forward to meeting the awesome staff and having them make my birthday super amazing.
The staff is the best that I've encountered in a bar and is like a second family. Â Super cool, down to earth, and very accommodating.
Their beer selection is out of control. Â Natalie got me hooked on the fruit beer, the Kasteel Rouge. Now I am struggling everywhere to find it in LA.
Their food selection is awesome, especially their Sunday football menu. Â All I can say is you have to get the buffalo chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun. Â It is addicting.
You have to check this place out. Jason and Natalie rock!
Definitely miss this place and wish there was another like it in LA.
Wow, just realized I hadn't reviewed Clubhouse BFD yet. Â First, a summarizing haiku:
Great variety
of beer, delicious food, and
happy hour specials!
So that was a very utilitarian haiku. Â Hey, I never said it would be poetic. Â Now for the details...
Clubhouse BFD claims that BFD stands for "Beer, Food, Drink," so I'll break everything down by these categories.
BEER:
They have 40 beers on tap (which change often), not to mention a ton of bottled beers to try. Â Servers have been very helpful with my indecisive self, and they always have a "Beer Dude on Duty" who can help you find a beer you like. Â For example, I had always wondered why I love some IPAs but not others - turns out there are floral hops and bitter hops, and I loooove the floral ones.
Among the tasty beers I've tried are Kuhnhenn DRIPA (double rice IPA), Lagunitas IPA, Greenbush Anger Black IPA, and Arcadia Sky High Rye.
Last week they had Ephemere Cassis on tap, and this week it's Ephemere Apple... I really want to go back because they were some of my go-to beers in college. Â (Girly, I know...)
They also have $1 off Michigan drafts from 2-6 pm, I think.
FOOD:
It's bar food. Â But it's oh-so-delicious bar food!
Appetizers:
I've only gotten the P.E.I. mussels, which were pretty good and plentiful, but they are not the mussels from The Purple Pig in Chicago, which are now my favorite mussels ever.
I want to try the buffalo shrimp, Bavarian pretzels, and chicken fingers.
Entrees:
The Nifty's Choice Burger ("aged cheddar, bacon, crispy onion ring, BFD sauce") is quite tasty. Â The sauce is a mayo-type sauce with onions (or shallots? not sure), and the bacon is sliced thick. Â I also like the BFD Burger ("mushroom, swiss, and caramelized onions"). Â Sadly, my favorite burger has since been discontinued... it was on a toasted English muffin and came with cheddar, an over-easy egg, and pickled onion.
All of the burgers (except for my discontinued burger) are served on a brioche bun and come with ADDICTIVE shoestring fries. Â I usually hate shoestring fries but cannot get enough of these. Â Several months ago, I may or may not have eaten all of my fries despite a major stomachache (caused by overeating).
I've also had the fish and chips, which were very tasty and a fairly large portion. Â Again, these come with shoestring fries. Â Other sides included cole slaw and garlic bread.
Desserts:
The butter tarts a la mode are very good, but I absolutely LOVE the bread pudding. Â I think it's deep-fried because it is lightly crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Â It's then drizzled with a Jack Daniels sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream.
Happy Hour Specials:
The boyfriend and I tried these in one sitting (burp). Â I think they also have pulled pork sliders and maybe another app that I can't remember right now.
Deep-fried PB&J with shoestring fries: Tasty! Â But kind of overwhelming. Â Great for sharing for dessert.
Chili cheese fries: Shoestring fries topped with Clubhouse's chili (which contains meat and beans) and melted cheddar. Â They're not coney island-type chili cheese fries, but they are still really good. Â One of my faves.
Loaded redskin wedges: Flash-fried potatoes topped with melted cheddar, bacon, chopped scallions, and sour cream. Â The potatoes were fried perfectly. Â The boyfriend loved this one, but I thought it could have been saltier.
Chicken quesadilla: I thought this one was the weakest link. Â Not as cheesy as I wanted it to be, and the chicken was kind of tough. Â It comes with tortilla chips, and I think there was salsa too.
Fish tacos: Yum! Â I think they deep-fried the tortillas too. Â Deep-fried fish (the same fish that they use in the fish and chips), cabbage slaw, creamy cilantro-lime sauce drizzled on, and lime wedges on the side. Â There are two very substantial tacos total, and they come with tortilla chips.
DRINK:
I've tried a couple of mixed drinks on the menu. Â One was tasty, and the other was super strong. Â The bartender kindly mixed the drink again with ice, which helped a lot. Â Other than that, I always go with beer.
OTHER:
There are lots of TVs everywhere, a giant jenga set, some outdoor seating, and chairs that looked oddly familiar to me (turns out they're from the UGLi, or undergraduate library, at UMich).
