Ordered fish tacos on recommendation. When order arrived they did not look like much, but one bite was all it took. Fantastic! Fish was perfectly cooked and it was full of flavor. Husband and son had luna burger and loved them. Would be nice if they served fries with burger, have to order those separately.  Good value for Maui. Kid friendly.

We all know that there's a different cheeseburger place in Lahaina that has a lot of hype, but Cool Cat is a far better burger, and doesn't have the wait to get in.  Great service, excellent range of healthy burger choices, and fun atmosphere.  It doesn't have the seaside location, but in every other way, this is the better burger spot.

Our parasailing company told us to go here...I'm sure they're paid to do so but we didn't have any other place to go to.  All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals.  3 burgers and 1 fish taco plate...DELICIOUS.  The bartender seemed more interested in talking with the locals that were there until we started ordering more drinks then he seemed to warm up to us.

Food quality: 4 stars - fresh burgers are delicious. They supposedly make everything from scratch but their fries and onion rings.....are you kidding me? They need to make fresh fries....c'mon! Prices are a little high....two burgers, one fries and one dr. pepper was $30+ plus tax and tip

    Service: 4 - nice folks

Ambiance/Decor: 3 - neat place but way too hot. We were uncomfortable and sweating the whole time.

Probably closer to 3.5 stars. Went there because of the "best burger on Maui" title but ended up slightly disappointed.

We all had burgers so I can't comment on the other items. The burgers were large but just a little above average.  Onion rings and fries were both pretty good.

Pros: location, good selection of food for many tastes, creative menu that my parents (both Baby Boomers) got a kick out of. My mom got a sandwich with ham and cheese that was grilled that she really liked. My husband got a Hawaiian chicken sandwich that he said was "phenomenal". Fries are seasoned well, which I like. Also, my mom almost died over the chocolate milkshake.

Cons: seating can be tight. I got a cheeseburger that was just ok, but I did order it workout the dressing so that probably contributed to its bland flavor. I found it a little dry.

Overall: Good place for familles or kids with a menu that will accommodate many tastes. My recommendation is to be brave and order food as it is deceived on the menu- I asked for my cheeseburger plain and found it bland.

LOVE the burgers, chili dog, salads and shakes at Cool Cat Cafe. Ernie is my favorite bartender. Great place to hang for Halloween, but there is a time limit on that day.  Very casual, love to sit outside at night and listen to the live music, and look over the railing to people watch in Lahaina. Family friendly environment. Some vintage items for sale and as decor, games to play, and just an all-around "go to" place.

Burgers were huge and super delicious! I had the Luna burger and it was the best burger I have had in a long time. The hubby had the Duke and absolutely loved it. The burger toppings were very fresh. The frings were awesome. The drinks were super sweet and not at all strong but I'm finding this to be a common issue with tropical drinks. If you are in the area and craving a great burger you must try the cool cat.

This old style diner offers good burgers and also huge salads. We enjoyed both the food and the service along with the live music.

This ain't no four star burger joint. First off, I'm a purist. I want a cheeseburger with meat + cheese + a few every-day toppings. No jalapeño poppers. No grilled pineapple. No hot lava sauce. And I want my fries to be hot and crunchy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. Stripped of the gimmicks, Cool Cat has OK burgers placed atop loaf-sized buns. And the fries are ho-hum. Yeah, yeah yeah: The vibe is good. The location is great. The service is super fast. But the burgers are not four stars.

Decided to give this place a try after recommendation from the die shop down the street.  As well, there were a lot of great reviews up here on yelp.

I went with the bogey burger which is basically a bacon cheeseburger served with an onion ring inside of it.  The taste was great, but I felt that the burger was a little dry.  They could have added more sauce to the burger to make it a bit juicer.

    The good....
They have a great selection of burgers and sandwiches to choose from.  The burgers are pretty big compared to some of the ogre places in the area
Their seating area is awesome, it is a covered patio where you had a nice view of the park across the street.

    The bad....
The place is a little on the expensive side considering the burger does not come with any sides.

Service was great, my waiter came by several times and ensured that my water glass was never empty.

Sits on the third floor overlooking Front Street.  Great for people watching.  Beer selection is limited, the burger was average.  My wife and I ordered the cheese burger, and the fries/ onion ring basket.  The onion rings were the best!

I wish I tried Cheese Burger in Paradise instead.

On Maui, this is one of my favorite places to grab a big burger and fries. I've been here twice now, and have enjoyed both experiences immensely. My first experience, I didn't take a risk, indulging in a western-style burger (The Duke) which not only impressed me, but convinced me that despite not being to many restaurants in the area, I HAD to return to Cool Cat's within the month.

My second visit, I took the risk and tried one of the specials: The Don Quesote. This burger, oozing with cheese and all sorts of great mexi-inspired ingredients was unique and succulent. My stomach is growling right now thinking of that beast of a sandwich.

A couple big perks of Cool Cat's: Frings. The option to get fries and rings in the same basket (which is more than enough for three folks to split), is a great option to share. Also, if you're a resident in Hawaii, don't forget to mention that. They take care of the local folk, as long as you've got a HI driver's license to back it up.

Not only good for tourists but locals come here.  Awesome burgers but the fish tacos are the best!  Drinks are really good and they usually have a drink special for $3!  The best part is they have Ms. Pac-man, try beating my score! HA!

Hit this place up for dinner tonight because, before my vacation had even officially started, a number of people had recommended this location as a great eatery with some fun entertainment from time to time.

So my friend and I head down to the Cool Cat Cafe to grab a bite for dinner. I've heard their burgers are pretty fantastic, so I'm excited to enjoy a good burger for my meal. We get into the cafe, which is more 50's-esque in decor than what I'd usually think of when "cafe" is mentioned, and are seated promptly by the window. Excellent.

The waiter comes over not long after to take our drink order...a couple minutes later and it's for dinner as well. My dinner for the night? A Lemondrop and a Jailhouse Rock burger.

The drink itself is pretty good. I love a good Lemondrop. I've had better, of course... but this drink is actually pretty delicious. Then there's my Jailhouse Rock burger. All in all? Pretty delicious. A juicy burger... mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, sauteed mushrooms and Jack cheese... all on a French roll. Add in some grilled onions and I'm all set.

The burger was delicious, certainly. I can understand why they're considered to have the best burgers around.

So why a 4 out of 5? For the service, really. While we were seated quickly, our waiter didn't really check in with us during service...and many of the other servers seemed to just kinda be chillin' in the background. I get that it seems like a very relaxed environment, but still...make sure all the tables are being helpfully tended to.

My husband and I decided to give this place a try since the yelp reviews were pretty positive. It's a little hard to find since it's on the second story, usually you'd be looking on the ground floor in downtown Lahaina. But you'll probably hear it first since it's got live music sometimes and otherwise just some good tunes. It's a pretty fun atmosphere. The employees seem like they have a good time together.

I don't even remember which burger combination I got - I think it was the Frisco. Typical, I'm from frisco and I order the Frisco hah. Don't underestimate it, the burger is HUGE. I could only eat half. It's humongously big/tall. And it was sooo sooo delicious. Packed with a lot of flavor. Makes me wonder what they put in the burger now. Mhmm drool. It was so good that I wanted to come back here a second time on our 1 week trip. It's a pricey burger but it's soooo big to make up for it. Luckily we had coupon for a dessert. But even after having only half or less than half of my burger I was totally stuffed. Look for a coupon in one of those tourist/coupon books.

The deduction for the 1-star was for service. There seemed to be a lot of waitresses standing around and not doing much or just cleaning up tables together when one table left. But it was hard to get our waters refilled and service when we wanted our dessert. If you're going to have that many waitresses on staff, make sure they're useful. They were mostly standing around and chatting amongst themselves. And it wasn't that busy of a night, it was already clearing out.

Also our table was sticking - blech. The whole time I was grossed out to touch it because then I'd be sticky.

Oh yeah they have a cool gift store in the back, and an arcade. Very neat and funky! They also have a live musician which is kinda neat!

Went here with a pretty large party and we expected to have a long wait to be seated but we waited maybe 6-7 min. The food is good I had the don ho Burger which was delicious but super messy.

The fact that nothing comes with fries is a bummer but we got a side of frings (half and half) and they were pretty good. Service was good but they got busy quickly and I felt like they were trying to rush us out.

We went here after spending time whale watching in Kaanapali and were told by the staff on our boat that this was the place to grab a great burger. I will agree that it was a good burger, but the burger didn't blow me away. It was huge, but for how many ingredients they put on all of their burgers you don't really taste much about the beef anyway. Not impressed with the onion rings but the fries were pretty good.

The service was awesome though and the view was also nice. I'd go back with a group or if we just wanted a decent meal while shopping around Lahaina, but I won't be dreaming about this spot.

I've read several reviews on Yelp regarding Cool Cat's where the members enjoy a good meal, specifically site nothing wrong, yet still give 3 stars. Huh?

Cool Cat's is the best burger on Maui. Period. Great upstairs open-air atmostphere, GREAT selection of tasty burgers, shakes and fries. Fun, outgoing youthful servers. What more do you need?

Oh and for the Yelp reviewers saying that eating out in Maui is expensive, and Cool Cat's is among the expensive restaurants, give me a break!! Yes, its not cheap to eat out in Maui. This is true. You are in Hawaii. But Cool Cats is a bargain! And they hand out coupons at almost every business on front street. Stop being such a tightwad and go enjoy a fantastic burger! Hooray for Cool Cats!

Practically every time I visit Lahaina I find myself at Cool Cat. It's not the food per se. It's not the location (although it's good). And it's not the drink specials either. It's just a great place to chill, grab a draught beer, maybe listen to some music and enjoy the night. It doesn't hurt that they have sort of an open air patio, where you can get a table the overlooks Front Street.

I must say that I do enjoy their burgers. Just a simple, run of the mill burger, but cooked perfectly and without pretension. Maybe that's just it. Cool Cat is just  a place to go, have a good time, and enjoy yourself. There's really no other way to describe it.

I dug the place, but I don't dig a burger without fries. They do offer frings (half order of French fries, half order of onion rings) though! Don Ho was a good burger, but not the best. My lady had a fish burger. She said it was okay.

Fun place to stop by and sit on the second floor....try to get seated facing the street! It's great for relaxing, people watching and enjoying Lahaina.

I stopped by only for drinks and had a lava flow and a beer. Delicious!

Wish u had room for the grub because it looked good and at affordable prices.

Two years ago this place was a 5 star, and my review is a 3 star, however visit this establishment anyway, cuz its cool, and the servers have awesome attitude. Food comes out quick. I would recommend the Marilyn burger if you like heat. The onion rings are just ridiculous, i mean you get fat while you eat them. You are on vacation so its fine.

The 3 star review is for the taste, which I think has dropped. However this place holds a special place in my heart, and I would still recommend everyone to visit it during their trip at least once, and to go to the back room and check out all the stuff they have on sale, its pretty neat. Yelp strikes again! We found this spot when we were looking for something differently familiar while wandering in downtown Lahaina.

Located upstairs in a small shopping center and overlooking Banyan tree park and the water, this place was seriously awesome!

The 50's theme played right into the "Cool Cat'" name and decor. The waitresses however, were much more punk to hipster with a 50's streak - a sort of the Rock-A-Billy's go to Maui type dig. It actually fit pretty well.

The menu consists primarily of burgers and all that is happy day, plus a few fish options. The Duke was especially good as it feeds a family of three relatively well. Many of the offerings were reminiscent of old singers and the catchy names were made better by solid burgers. I had one with pineapple and bacon that was excellent.

Not the most authentic Hawaiian place you'll visit but one you'll remember. Good place to go with family members were aren't real adventurous, but who still want something more unique than a chain along the water.

This place was voted number 1 for their burger. So what do I order? The blackened fish taco lol. Let me tell you it was pretty good for a burger joint. The mahi mahi was seasoned perfectly. Also ordered the the frings to try and it was nothing special at all.

My husband ordered the Duke burger. It was served with a nice smokey BBQ sauce, bacon and Maui Onions.

Hearing from multiple sources that Cool Cat has the best burgers on Maui was all it took to get me through the door. Personally, I left unimpressed. The burger was nothing special and the fries/rings combo was so-so.

Maybe it's true that Cool Cat really does have the best burgers on Maui. If so, I feel sorry for the people of Maui. Either I caught Cool Cat on an off-night or the cheeseburger alternatives on the island are bad!

I found this burger place on Yelp within walking distance from my hotel. I like to eat a burger at a burger joint, not a restaurant that has a burger section on the menu.

The wait was about 10 min for 2. My husband and I each ordered beers. I got the kids burger with two slices of cheese on it, it came with fries. I always appreciate when I am allowed to order from the kids menu. I am a small person and I like a small burger- preferably under 1/4 lb and their regular burgers were 6.5 oz. My husband on the other hand is a big person and likes a big burger, he got the double- almost a pound of meat. Service was a tad slow, but understandably so, as they were really busy.

With the beers, burgers and a side of fries it was $32, which I find to be a bargain in Maui. We will likely go back during our trip- there was a hot dog sandwich that sounded divine.

We wanted a burger. We wanted to sit above the street. We wanted some alcohol. And we wanted to not hear "Hotel California" being sung by a terrible live band.

Thankfully, we went to Cool Cat Cafe and found everything we wanted, including an awesome 2 person live band playing really rad music. We found amazingly large, delicious burgers. We found a table that looked out to the street. And we ordered a few beers, and a 21+ milkshake, WHICH WAS AWESOME!

Friendly staff, good music, and they knew what 'extra pickles' meant!
If you come here, definitely get one of their 'adult' milkshakes!

I heard about Cool Cat before our visit, but was hesitant to visit something that looked so kitschy on our trip to Maui - I thought it would be too much of a tourist trap. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see that, although it did have a small "indoor" area designed like a retro cafe, there was a sizeable outdoor dining area overlooking the end of Front Street and the banyan tree. No waiters on rollerblades or poodle skirts to be found!

Husband got a Duke (bacon, BBQ sauce, cheese, onion rings) and I got a Loco Motion (chicken breast on sourdough with cheese and green chiles). At first I couldn't believe that for about $11 each, they didn't come with fries or a side, and we ordered a basket of fries to go with. When the food arrived, we realized we didn't really need the fries! I thought both the burger and chicken sandwich were huge! Husband and I halved each and exchanged. I couldn't finish my chicken sandwich half and barely finished my burger half. He finished each but was stuffed, and we barely touched the fries (they were just ok, anyway). One thing I would note is I asked for no mayo, but it still came with. So if you don't like 1000 Island Dressing (which is on almost all their burgers), beware that you may not get it without!

Overall, I like this as an option for when you're tired of fish or the prices/atmosphere of some of the more upscale places on Front Street. It's not cheap exactly for a burger place (~$40 for two burgers, fries and one Lava Flow), but for a restaurant in Maui it's on the cheaper end.

This place is located on the third floor on Front St. It has patio seating with live music. It was nice to hear the guitarist playing and singing songs during our meal and even after when we were at the bar. This seemed like a good hangout spot for groups and a nice place to relax after the beach or shopping in Lahaina. The prices were pretty good as well.

I had a ham, pineapple, and cheese sandwich with bbq sauce on sourdough bread. It was a pretty good sandwich, but all my friends said the burgers were better. The meal came with a free root beer float, which was nice cuz the weather was quite hot, even at night.

We were given lots and lots of coupons from our travel representative at Expedia and also the various places we went we got more coupons. One coupon that we kept seeing was one for the Cool Cat Cafe. I saw the Yelp rating at the time, which was 3.5 stars so I was skeptical about how good the place was, but several locals that we talked to really recommended this place. So why not?!

Every month they have a special burger. Love the creativity of their special burgers and they over kobe beef patties. Yum! This diner is 50's themed which is cute, but I found it a little odd on Maui. The food was HUGE! Hubs and I couldn't finish the food. We ordered the monthly special and the Chantilly lace burgers. The meat was tender and juicy. Most burger places overcook the patties which I don't like. Overall, the taste of the food was decent. I was more impressed with the meat. Not a bad place for lunch and they have a view of the Banyan Tree Park which is nice.

Our coupon gave us a free root beer float. We asked for it to-go and they were nice enough to split it in two for us. I love you hubby but I want my own scoop of ice cream.

    Pros-
    Seated quickly
Meal on front street for one under $20
free root beer float with purchase
    Large size Buber
    Cons-
$10 burger that does not include fries
Hawaiian Burger with canned pineapple, really?? I can get that on the mainland?? In HI. I want FRESH pineapple!
Server did not ask how I wanted my burger cooked and it was served well done. I normally like a higher end burger cooked medium but I guess I should have requested it?
    Beef quality was average

On a recommendation from a friend I decided to give Cool Cat a try.  I was in a little bit of a rush and was in the restaurant after the lunch crowd.  I ordered the Duke without any barbecue sauce.  Unfortunately my burger came drenched in sauce which left it inedible.  I didn't have time to wait for another burger so I left.

Since this place is considered the best burger on Maui I would be willing to give it another try in the future.
