Surprisingly.... I actually like this place. The food reminds me of something you'll cook from home. Im never a fan of meatloaf and theirs is actually pretty good. The chicken and dumpling is good as well as the sugar baked ham or something. The Mac and cheese was just right as well as the rice pilaf. Mashed potatoes was good as well as the pork BBQ. Minus one for me is the corn bread. I wish they put some kernels or made it a lil moist. Overall, I will definitely go back again.

I just love me some Cracker Barrel.  Breakfast at any time of the day is a win.

Being a northern boy, I prefer oatmeal to grits.  Allegedly, you can substitute oatmeal for grits on the breakfast meals, but it seems that no matter what time I visit, they aren't serving oatmeal.  Seems like some kind of oatmeal conspiracy to me.

Pretty much everything I've ever had was good, and you'll agree if you like the taste of a home cooked comfort food.

My personal favourite is: biscuit & gravy w/ bacon.  It's cheap, you get unlimited b&g, and it tastes great with a smooth smoky flavor and mild hint of black pepper.

If you leave room for dessert, be sure to order a slice of the rich and decadent chocolate coke-a-cola cake.

I'am very sorry for pancake cheating but it won't happen again. After a long stay in indy with the family we ended things with a breakfast here at Cracker Barrel. On labor day of all times and it was packed but we were seated right away with a party of 6. Very old school feel to it and it helped that my grand parents were there telling me stories about all the older items hanging on the wall. Instead of just letting you sit there waiting till your food comes they bring two bowls of biscuits and gravy!! OH GOSH what a nice way to take your mind off the wait. Biscuits were very good soft but with the gravy made it 10 times better. Food gets there and the sausage and bacon were good. The scrambled eggs on the other hand wasn't all that great when your eating and you get a crunch aw shell not good. The pancakes very dry to the point the butter didn't even help with it. Saving grace was the 100% maple syrup they served with it and there wasn't enough of that for the huge pancakes that were stacked on my plate. cutting them was the experience of the day i don't like the fight in life and really wouldn't like to with my pancakes. After awhile i just stopped trying just wasn't worth it. Service was very good always refilled our drinks and asked how everything was going. All together it was okay but not enough for a return

Not much I can say about this place that to all of you reading this doesn't already know. But for my review of this Cracker Barrel on Southport Rd. my wife, son & I are regulars here. My favorite thing to get is the chicken & dumplings with two sides. Our favorite waitress here is Christina, she is just the nicest and always on it kind of waitress you want to have. Never have to worry about refills she'll have another before you finish the one you have, and she always checks up with you! Now as for dessert, trust me on this one, the Coca Cola Cake w/ vanilla bean ice cream is the best darn cake you will ever sink your teeth in. My wife, son and I always share one of these and it goes fast! My only complaint I'd say is most every time we come here it's a little to busy like it's a Walmart or something, but that still won't keep me away...unless of course if I am a little too hungry to wait!

For this type of restaurant - we had a 5 star meal and service. Our server, Katie S., was very friendly and VERY fast.   Our group of 11 was seated, served our drinks and meal pronto.  We were ready to get back on the road in less than 40 minutes. Note:  it took longer than that to get our lunch made at Subway earlier in the day!

Everyone enjoyed their meal - which is hard to do with 7 kids as part of the gang. They especially liked the kids serving of chicken and dumplings.

Mind you - I am not saying that Cracker Barrel is a 5 star restaurant; however, based on our groups experiences in dining during the past 8 days of vacation - they meet all the criteria for a decent fast food sit down restaurant!   So a big THANK YOU to them!
