Used a groupon here and found this cute place in downtown Park Ridge. The high ceilings made it feel a little less home-y, which is the feel (I assume) the rest of the restaurant seemed like it was going for.
I tried the Chicken Florentine crepe, a suggestion made by two of my friends who are regulars. Only got through about half of it, because it was huge! It was a super savory crepe. Really yummy. Â I had a few bites of my friend's blueberry cheese crepe. Definitely a great dessert. SO GOOD! Also, with the groupon, you get a free drink. I ordered the hot chocolate. It didn't taste like it came out of a box! Yay!
Because they offer a wide range of the types of crepes they make, I'll have to go back!
My friends and I were looking for a delicious, affordable lunch in Park Ridge, so we looked to yelp for reviews and we were definitely not disappointed in Cream of the Crepe. This place was easy to find and the interior was very simple and unassuming. There were a few paintings on the walls and fake flowers as centerpieces on the tables. We ordered at the counter before taking a seat and I was pleased with the prices: definitely all under $10 (and the sweet crepes are a little cheaper).
The menu was very simple with one side reading "Savory" and the other reading "Sweet." Even though I had been craving a sweet crepe, the vegetarian option looked too delicious to pass up. I was not disappointed. The crepe (or dough? I'm not sure what it's officially called) was thin, made just right, and held everything together well without getting soggy, which is a major plus in my book when it comes to crepes. What impressed me about this crepe was that they were so full of veggie goodness: spinach, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and of course, a layer of cheese.
The thing was sizable, too. Even though I was starving by the time we sat down at 2 PM, I could not quite finish it. Even though I just ate here, I am already itching to go back because I am very curious about the sweet crepes. I feel like my review isn't complete without having tried both sides of the menu!
Until then, Cream of the Crepe. Until then.
This place is a little hard to find, especially if you're relying on Google Maps. Kenny and I ended up having to call the shop to see where they're located, as in what stores are they next to. It turns out that they're right next to a cupcake place and they're a couple doors down from the Pickwick theater and restaurant.
We came here with a close-to-expiring groupon for two crepes and two drinks. We got to choose any two crepes and any two drinks. Kenny ordered the Philly cheesesteak and I ordered the chicken florentine. Both were delicious, but I prefer the chicken florentine because it was less salty than the Philly. The crepes were decently sized and they were very filling. I loved the amount of mushrooms, spinach, chicken pieces, and sauce they put on my chicken florentine. I'd order this again.
