*sigh* I really wanted to like this place. Â Having never ordered from here before, we placed a large to-go order yesterday with an assortment of dishers to try. Â The hostess was very pleasant and the food came out quickly. Â The place was pleasant and clean. It was pricey (about $35) but not a killer for the amount of food. Â It just - augh! Â Sorry but it sucked.
Breakdown:
Crab Rangoon - 6 large pieces, fried perfectly for a nice crunch. Â The filling was tasty, although no obvious crab or water chestnuts.
Pot Stickers - 6 pieces. Â Looked great outside, looked horrid (kinda greyish beige paste) inside. Â Tasted meh but I ate them. Â
Egg Rolls - huge, fried up perfectly, solid "typical" veggie mix inside plus small pieces of - I think it was chicken. Â Best part of the meal.
Kung Pao Chicken - horrendous. Â I think it started out as Chung King. Â Heavy clear corn starch paste surrounded BLAND shreds of chicken, bits of carrot, rough-diced celery and white onion, slimy bits of red pepper and a couple of raw-looking peanuts. Â I thought that would be the nadir, but then I tried the other entree...
Beef and Brocolli - good color and crunch to the brocolli but the beef shreds and brown sauce were... Â bad. Â Just off. Â
Took a close look at the egg drop soup and decided not to try it. Â Oddly clearish grey color with shredded bits of what looked like chicken in it. Â Couldn't do it. Â
Plain white rice with the entrees (they couldn't do fried rice, even for an upcharge; I would have had to order a separate dish) was fine, little bag of the Chung King-style crunchy noodles, almond cookies and fortune cookies, assorted small containers of sauces including two the color and taste of thickened of hawaiian punch. Â
Sorry guys - I am a very forgiving diner but this was awful.
