Good restaurant for the area. Â Didn't get to enjoy the view as we were at an interior table, but it was a grey March day so not much to enjoy anyway. Â Standard American menu items, I had blackened tilapia, with spaghetti soup (I'd never heard of it before, and apparently neither had my server, as he thought it was going to be a side dish of spaghetti with the dinner. Â I guess he wasn't well prepared tonight, as he didn't know the tilapia was posted as the special either.) Â The soup was quite good, as was the tilapia, fresh, well flavored. Â No problems with the service otherwise, no delays as mentioned in other reviews. Â The owner was walking the floor, chatting with guests, a lot of out of towners due to the state swimming championships we were there for. Â He reminded us to ask for our hotel discounts when we got our bills. Â Very pleasant, nice place to go. Â A little expensive ($41 w/tip for 2 of us, no alcohol).
Review Source:Atmosphere is great. On this lovely day, that porch is an awesome place to eat with kids, who can hit the creek banks and look for frogs while we relax. Pasta was good, husband's steak caesar salad was good, and our friends split a philly cheese steak on flatbread and declared it good enough that they had to order a second one to split. Service was just fine and prices are reasonable - definitely worth repeat visits.
Review Source:Last night I was treated to dinner at Creekside Lodge by a friend for my birthday. I have to write a new review because my opinion of the place has changed. Our food was excellent! It was hands down the best dinner I've had in Crawfordsville for a long time.
We both ordered the special, which was a boneless chicken breast with pepperjack cheese rolled up in the center, then dipped in crushed tortilla chips, fried and served with a delicate sauce. There was also an excellent small salad with jalapeños and a homemade dressing, and a scoop of Spanish rice.
Our server was very attentive, and even brought us a piece of chocolate pecan pie with whipped cream for dessert as my birthday treat!
Oh, let me add our dinner specials were only $10.99!!!
The good: Â Located along the banks of Sugar Creek. Â Very pretty setting. Â Restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms. Â Waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Â The owner came out and chatted up my Wabash senior a bit. Â Was not aware about the senior comprehensive exam and why there would be students on campus during break., Â The food was good and the steaks were as ordered.
The bad: Â Food prep time was quite long. Â Prices were high.
It is one of the best places in Crawfordsville. Â I love the location, looking over Sugar Creek while dining is very nice. Â The food was awesome! Â My hubby an I split the appetizer some cheese bread with Alfredo sauce. Â We each had a bourbon steak, which is one of the best I have ever had. Â The Bourbon flavor was spot on, not too strong, not too weak, and the steak was tender. Â
The crowd was mostly older, and the decor was lodge like.
Quite possibly one of best locations for a restaurant, the Creekside Lodge is a quaint little place with a lot to offer. Originally, the building was used as a canoe outfitter that rented canoes and the like for people to go on Sugar Creek which had moved to a different location. The owners of Creekside now capitalized on this awesome location and turned it into a nice bar and grill. American fare which ranges from sandwiches to steak and crab. Full bar with a decent wine selection. It also has wonderful and ample outdoor seating as you sit on the enclosed back bacolny facing Sugar Creek. Definitely one of the few romantic restaurants in Crawfordsville. Not really a place that you would see a younger crowd at. I would say the average age group usually seen here is 35-55, especially during lunch.
Review Source:This place was really just starting out when I went to Wabash, but I liked it a lot. Â They had promising drink specials and always seemed to be pretty fairly priced and clean. Â The service was a bit spotty at times, but the prime rib sandwich on croissant bread was great. Â There are romantic views that are really unrivaled by any other place in the area.
Review Source:After seeing the more positive reviews on here (2 of which got Yelp-sorted, hmmm)I decided to give this place another try. Went in for a late Sunday lunch. Decent crowd full of older people. Â We weren't seated by the windows so I still haven't seen the creek yet.
The food itself wasn't bad. I got the open-face prime rib sandwich and Hubs got the olive burger. Both were pretty tasty and prepared correctly temperature-wise. Â Our waiter was young and very friendly, we got into a discussion of his brand new iPhone and we discovered they have free WiFi.
Overall it was a good experience. It was a well-done meal with good service from a simple family restaurant. Â They aren't doing anything new but that's ok.
On the bank of the Sugar Creek! This is a great place to dine with a family or on a date! The lounge can get a bit smokey so if you choose the lounge, I suggest dining on the patio. V. ROMANTIC! Service on a Friday can get a little slow if they're understaffed, but the servers always have a smile on their faces. You can't go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu. My favorite if the Fetticini Alfredo. I don't even like Fetticini Alfredo and that's my favorite! It's one of my favorite spots in Crawfordsville!
