Tried to give this place a shot for dinner but left after having appetizers. Crappy customer service and less than mediocre overpriced food (burgers around $19).
Walked in with no acknowledgement from the hostess, not even so much as eye contact so we went ahead and sat at the bar. The bartender was okay, I ordered a sprite and my friend asked for some water, we got it right away. I'm not going to lie...I was SO excited about the salt & vinegar chips because they're my absolute favorite. Pure disappointment. They tasted exactly like plain old potato chips. Now, to be fair I did express my disappointment when the bartender asked how everything was. I informed her that they tasted like normal potato chips and asked her if they were salt & vinegar. She confirmed that they were and told me somebody else had complained about the same thing earlier. She offered to get me salt if I wanted to put some more on. From a customer service standpoint....what?! That baffled me quite a bit, if another customer had the same complaint maybe that's an indication something needs to be changed. As for the daily special flatbread, it reminded me of when I was in middle school and had to eat Hardtack staying the night on the Star of India. In their defense my friend thought it was good, so there ya go.
The employees seemed to be very unhappy working here and to be honest it was quite uncomfortable. On our way out the lovely hostess again ignored us completely. Not so much as a "have a good night" or "come back soon", zip, nada, nothing. I personally wouldn't recommend this place.
"I've come for the Black Label Burger..." (Insert Spaghetti Western music here)
So, I've heard from near & far, in addition to the many burger joints I've traveled, about this gluttonous, Black Label Burger. (Needle scratches, music stops) It is time.
(Crowd gasps)
"Bring on the BURGER!...
(Spaghetti Western music resumes)
'Oh, and can I get change for the parking meter?
'Arrived around 8:30pm on a Friday evening, didn't realize there were two entrances... The front, main entrance & a side door entrance. As I walked in, a waitress directed us towards the front entrance to check-in. 'Was about to back-track through the door we came in & go around the front but the waitress stopped me, "You can go through here to check-in, not a problem!"
Hmmm, I kinda somewhat expected a "Duh, why are you coming through this door? Don't you know, the front door is over there?!" 'Least to say, I was very happily surprised. ('At that moment on, I felt like this was going to be a good night... 'And it was.) 'Great customer service.
'Walked through the packed bar/dining area to our hostess, Chandra, who was wearing a flowing, classy black dress & stunning necklace... I thought Chandra's elegant appearance added a bit of something extra to the otherwise, laid back & casual vibe @ The Crow Bar & Kitchen. (It worked.) 'Checked-in & was told that there would be about a 30 min. wait but we can mingle in the bar area 'til then. Chandra mentioned that there were a couple of stools, near a side wall just across from the bar or a couple of seats available, right @ the bar... I opted for the "side wall." I was impressed, in between keeping track of the different parties waiting to be seated, Chandra was well aware of the random "open seats" around the bar. (Tips hat)
As I sat, waiting for a table, I took in the sights...
'And I dug what I saw. (Well, for the most part.) 'Most of the crowd was laid back, just there to have a good time... Then there were the middle-aged hipsters, being all "hip," hanging out in packs as if they were stuck in the eighties. "Night at the Roxbury," why yes indeed. It was AWESOME, this is reality! Imagine four receding hairline, forty-somethings, standing in a circle ogling every wahine that strolled by... (Dude, that was just someone's grandmother!) "Bartender, I'll have another drink for the show!" YES, it was going to be a good night.
'After about ten minutes, a waiter, "Ben," approached my friend & I to take our drink orders. I asked him what would pair best w/The Black Label Burger - Introducing 'Pliny the Elder." (Personally, not a huge beer drinker, IPA's included... 'But WOW!... 'What flavor!)
My friend ordered a Bloody Mary, which is another favorite libation of mine also. They were going to order the Friday's Special, "Fennel Baby Back Ribs" for dinner... 'Good choice. (My friend said, "The Bloody Mary Mix reminds me of cocktail sauce.") I took a sip, good flavor, very generous w/the horseradish.
We sat, chatting for about 35 minutes, still no seat... (shrugs) Eh, it's busy. Â Besides, I'm enjoying this tasty IPA, talking story, making jokes & scribbling down ideas for possible new material. No worries! (If 15 minutes more had passed then I would've inquired w/Chandra about our table.) However, I didn't have to... 'In 5, 4, 3, 2... 'And reenter our waiter, Ben, to check on our drinks AND follow-up on our behalf for seating. I am continually being impressed by the service here. (Tips hat again) Mahalo for looking out Braddah Ben!
'Within a few minutes, Chandra was seating us at a table... Yeh, I'm happy.
Shay, was our waitress, helpful, fast & friendly.
'Wanted to try an appetizer, opted for the "Sausage Trio."
(It was, okay, for $11. 8/ 'Different.)
The baked pretzel, paired with the sausages & sauces, way too salty.
However, the Black Label Burger, very good, rich, tender, decadent.

The Fennel Baby Back Ribs: Good; moist; different; dry rub; tasty
The Kit Kat Bar: Good; a bit challenging to eat; very hard to share (Served w/a scoop of ice cream)
Grand Total: $133 (Including tip)
After dinner, I was able to chat w/Curtis and who from my guess, was the Manager.
The Crow Bar is open til 2am (Thurs - Sat), and Midnight (Mon - Wed), respectively.
(i.e. - So, if the house is empty @ 10:30pm on a Tuesday chances are they're closing shop early.)
Overall, a solid 4 Stars.
The food was good; the service, great! 'With as many plates that the staff has "spinning" here at any one time, they were on top of it... 'Impressed.
Overall ambiance is a mixed plate of local hipsters(young & old), to just locals hanging out & having a good time. Yeh, I can see this easily becoming a habit.
- Big Aloha! Â
Food: 4

i kind of expected this place to taste super delicious because i've heard about it a lot. so maybe it's my fault that i came with a hungry stomach and higher expectations
i ordered based on what our server recommended. we got the black label burger and it was.....just ok. definitely not worth $19, maybe $6. actually, i'd rather have a carl's jr. guacamole bacon $6 burger because it has more flavor.
in addition to the burger we got: grilled artichoke, raw oysters, wild arugula salad, duck fat fries, and mac n cheese.
there wasn't anything that was that amazing that i would want to try again. i'd be interested in trying more menu items, but i would be worried that they would be a-ok too.
try this place out if you'd like. i wouldn't say definitely yes or definitely no. meh.
The Crow has a nice variety of craft beers with good descriptions on the menu. There's a nice range of prices and styles, both on tap and bottled. Sometimes they have Pliny on tap. Food is solid, better than typical pub food and a nice variety of slightly offbeat dishes. Service is always good, despite how busy the place gets in the evening. Definitely worth checking out!
Review Source:Great beer selection but I've been here a few times and after trying a burger which was ok, and a chicken wrap which was tasty, I feel i'm out of options.
It isn't a place where I'd want to go and be a creature of habit.
Do love the beer. Â Do love that they show soccer on the TVs. Â Staff is friendly.
I'm hoping they make add some selections. Â Looking forward to returning!
i had such high expectations for this place. since it first opened i've always wanted to go and the chance finally arose when i got off work and my friends wanted to go there for lunch. we hadn't seen each other in a while so i agreed since i wanted to see them and finally try this place out.
i got there and my friends had been sitting right in front of the entrance with about 3 tables put together. the waitress was attentive and we met up around 4:30pm or whenever it was happy hour and so surprisingly there weren't a lot of people there. so we all ordered. the duck fat fries were ok, not surprisingly great but a bit greasy. i ordered a wrap which seemed appetizing at the time and one of the cheapest ones on the menu. it was overly doused in bbq sauce and was really salty.
to top it off, the waitress didn't even let us know it was happy hour until after we were leaving. really? soooo disappointed in this restaurant. :(
I met my friends from out of town here this evening. Â I live locally and on a special diet so brought my own food as I often do to other restaurants around town. Â The manager asked me to leave and told me that I can not bring my own food in their restaurant , even though my friends had ordered things? Â He said if it was slower he may have made an exception? Â So I'm like what's the difference...? If you have a rule, shouldn't that rule be all the time? I felt discriminated and somewhat insulted. Â As far as reviewing the food we will not know my opinion because I will not return to try it. Â If management is a representation of this establishment, then definitely skip this one.
Review Source:Came here for a late lunch/early dinner. It's located across the street from Tommy Bahama's on avocado & PCH. The address is wrong on yelp 'cause google maps navi led us to somewhere else. Called Crow Bar for directions and the girl that picked up didn't even know how to give us directions (that's bad, unless she's a new employee). In addition, you'll need to find parking on the streets in the neighborhoods nearby unless u wanna pay valet. They have no designated parking lot here.
The 2 of us were seated at a nice spacious table. On the wall is a big chalkboard w/ their prix fixe menu posted I believe it was about $31? Didn't look too appetizing though & the waiter didn't really explain much of each dish on there so we just ordered entrees off the menu based on Yelp.
Crow Black Label Burger - It looked so divine in all the yelp pics and everyone raved about it. The description of the burger sounded so perfect and just melt in your mouth delicious. When the burger arrived, I got to sneak a bite of it, but was SOOO dissapointed! Maybe my expectations for it was too high, but something was missing. There was no blend or explosion of flavors. It tasted so bland for a burger. Not gonna lie, even in n out or 5 guys had more flavor. I could not taste the bone marrow butter at all even though you could see the burger was dripping w/ fat. The caramelized onions however, were perfect and sweet. The bun was soft too, but the patty just completely lacked flavor. It seems the burger may be missing some cheese or something to add a kick to it. They did cook it perfectly medium rare though and decent sized patty. Overall, not worth the $19 price tag
Duck Fat Fries - BF added this to his burger (extra $5) again was not worth it. The fries were soggy and not crispy at all. There were 2 sauces complementing the fries. I believe the red one was best with it
Double Cut Korubata Pork Chop $26 - It was a decent sized pork chop cooked medium. Wasn't the best I've had...The pork chop at Playground Restaurant still ranks the best for me. This pork chop was dry on the outside, but as I kept eating toward the middle it was a little more tender, but nothing compared Playground's juicy tenderness. The plat however was presented beautifully w/ the brussel sprouts and plums. YES PLUMS! They used real plums for their plum sauce mixed w/ the bbq sauce for the pork chop. Brussel sprouts were good, not too charred, but had enough roasted flavor/texture.
Its different and just say it out loud: Duck ... Fat ... Fries
The crowbar kitchen and its delish delights, bring you back to try new things. First time I came here to meet friends for dinner, Â I went with a traditional fave of the the fish & chips, which the chips were served in a paper bag, but fish was very nice. The next time I came was for lunch on a co-workers birthday, and went with the Cubano sandwich - its ok. I would have to say their signature item is definitely the duck fat fries. Tasty, delicious and different. Thats what they may be famous for.
Downsides: Dining area is tight. Valet parking pretty much, unless you can walk from the neighborhood or from corona del mar plaza. Can get super crowded on weeknights. A little pricey, but nothing too crazy.
Perks: Awesome Beer & Wine Selection. Great Bar area.
OVERall: Worth a try. Sticks in your mind to come back and try something new.
We went to The Crow Bar for dinner tonight - happened to be in the neighborhood and it was recommended by a friend. Â What a mistake.
I tried the Black Label burger - and my first thought, and my wife's as well, was that it was smaller than an In-N-Out single. Â While the burger was made from dry-aged ribeye and actually tasted pretty good, the sorry helping of carmelized onions - about a tablespoon full - was hardly worth the effort, and the marrow butter was cold and greasy.
My wife ordered the fish and chips (minus the chips with a side salad instead) and this is where it really went downhill. Â The fish was dry, obviously not fresh, the batter was inconsistent (thick in places and non-existent in others) which allowed the cooking oil to saturate the fish filet. Â I will give Crow Bar props for the tasty curried tartar sauce, but the fish was so bad that both of us needed to find a restroom pretty soon after dinner (my wife first but she ate more of the fish - she was hungry).
Here's the best part - $19 for a hamburger and $19 for the fish and chips??? Â I was expecting something good for that price, but I wouldn't go back for any price.
Service was indifferent, and I really don't get why it was so crowded - the food was pretty bad indeed.
Left feeling a little underwhelmed. We sat at the bar, had a few beers and mixed drinks for me. The cocktail menu looked good, but the drinks were not so great. They'd be helping themselves if they worked on their craft cocktail making skills. I spoke to the bartender about my likes and dislikes and so I tried a drink he recommended. It was clear that I did not like it; did not drink much of it at all. He never asked me once if I was enjoying the drink, and I felt bad about complaining. If he would have asked, like most bartenders do (especially when the drinks are $13) I would have told him it was way too sweet for me. Disappointed by this. We had some appetizers which were okay to good, not great. This place could definitely be cool; have some work to do in order to get there. Overall cost for a few good beers and bad cocktails and average apps on a Saturday late afternoon will not leave us wanting more.
Review Source:Party of 8 please! Â A group of us dined and drinked at your lovely establishment on Sat 5/11/13 for a 'great gatsby movie party' complete with dress up and age-old cocktails of which your restaurant was really great at producing! Â Mainly, the service was superb, very attentive wait staff. Â Thank you! Â Because we were a large party, there were a few different plates ordered and everyone seemed to enjoy their choice, and the plates looked really good.
Review Source:It used to be 4-5 stars. The food quality has recently changed for the worse. The flavors have changed. The Black Label burger, normally exquisite was recently just OK.
The sausage trio was served cold. The waitress did take the price off the tally. The valet parking is now 4$ when it used to be free. we used to tip the valet 4$. I suppose we will try one more time to see if our bad experience was unique.
I went on a Thursday night from 10:30-12:30 or so for one of my first nights on the town as a single lady and my first night out since moving to Orange County. It definitely did the trick to get me in a good mindset.
The place is small and was crowded, but not so much so that you couldn't get a seat. It is clean and respectable, unlike many similar venues. The DJ was playing really good music and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The drinks were $5 all night and they were VERY strong (surprisingly strong - I really wasn't prepared to feel so much after a drink.) The crowd was much better than most bars. It was mainly professionals in their thirties and everyone was well dressed. It was a pickup type place when the clock hit 11 but thats expected of any bar, right?
I wish I could give 3.5 stars. Â Food quality is high but taste was lacking on all the dishes ordered by my table. Â Service is outstanding. Â The waitress was helpful, nice and attentive. Â Â The overall cost was high, brunch for a family of 4 ran $65 w/o alcohol. Â If they can kick up the flavors in their food this place could easily be a 5.
Review Source:Duck fat fries by the bucket. That's what I'll get next time I come here. "One bucket please." I'll even bring my own bucket. A good place to go for drinks - or if you're recently divorced/single. Or if you're just boozing it up on the company's dime. Or all of the above. The service was pretty good, the food was just ok but it's just on the cusp of "really good."
I got the halibut sandwich - big mistake. It would have been good but it was cold because of the cold quac and cold tomatoes on top. The burger looked like it might be ok but was so plain - not like my colorful guac and tomato confetti topped fish sandwich. The burger's got bone marrow butter or something which I can't make myself try. I hear bone marrow is delicious and I'm quite sure it is but there's just something about sucking the guts out of animal bones that gets me. Never mind that it's in butter now - I'll just stick with the duck fat.
They have bottles of Russian River - Pliny and Supplication(?) - but they are heavily marked up so tread lightly.
This is definitely one of those places where you go for drinks and snacks, but not for full entrees. Â I went for dinner and found the food to be average at best. Â The Crow Burger was nothing special (and given the price it should've been), my friend's Halibut Burger was cold and overpriced, and the green bean fries were greasy. Â Plus, service was less than spectacular.
I will say the Sweet Potato Fries with Blue Cheese Aioli and the Duck Fat Fries were both delicious, and Crow Bar has an extensive beer and wine selection which makes it a great spot for a late-night drink or a happy hour. Â If you do order food, just be prepared to pay inflated prices. Â I mean, this is Corona del Mar afterall.
I finally was able to come here and actually eat after having this place bookmarked forever. Â I made a reservation for 5:15 because 1. Â I got 1000 pts on open table and 2. Last time I came in, they weren't taking anymore reservations for the night. Â So I learned my lesson and made one. Â
The waitress was super friendly and kept coming back to see if we needed anything. Â We ordered the duck fat fries, crow burger, a flat bread that was on their board and some beer. Â
The fries and the flatbread were really tasty but the burger was just not good. Â The burger was dry, tasteless and cold. Â I was extremely disappointed since I had been wanting to come here.
I'll still come back and try their other burgers and hope that it was just a one time fluke.
I'm updating my rating of Crow Bar because I have been having so much fun when I hang out here on Thursday nights.
I recommend getting here around 8-9 for some appetizers or dinner. The muscles are really good and I'm obsessed with the flatbread. Salads are yummy too!
At 10:00 the DJ starts spinning and it's really great music! Top 40s mixed with old school hip hop and random songs you haven't heard in forever. And the DJ plays REAL re-mixes, so it stays interesting.
As I said in my previous review, I really like the crowd that tends to hang out here. Ladies - lots of tall, good looking, and intelligent men to mingle with if that's your type.
And the staff is super helpful and quick with the food and drinks, even when it's busy. I can't express how much I appreciate getting a drink in a reasonable amount of time when a popular bar is packed.
We go for lunch, pretty slow, nice and quiet...off to a good start!
Then we ordered the food...
Now, this place has always been hit or miss with their food consistency and quality of service. However when they "hit," the food is so good that we keep coming back. Then the boyfriend ordered eggs benedict...
The eggs on the eggs benedict were overcooked, so the bf sent them back. As my family and I finish our meal, food still isn't out for the poor bf yet! Finally it gets here and the eggs are runny and undercooked! Pretty sure he didn't ask for undercooked eggs...just regular eggs benedict the way it's supposed to be cooked. Poaching eggs really isn't that hard guys, figure it out.
So we say how disappointed we are that the food was so horribly prepared that the bf will just have a burger to go (since the rest of us were done eating). Then we get charged for the eggs! Seriously?? You guys made disgusting eggs, that we sent back twice, and you're still going to charge for them? Then the rude server (who's the bartender as well) says, after rolling his eyes, "well you just didn't like them so that's why we charged." WOW! You weren't even going to comp his meal? So we ask for the manager. Guess what? The manager isn't at the restaurant until after 3....
wtf? what kind of place is this? No wonder the employees have a god-complex.
We won't be eating here again. It's a shame because their food (when they remember how to make it) is actually decent. If you guys hired smarter employees and chefs that cooked consistently good food, this place would be 5 stars.
This has been top of of my fav restaurants in OC since it first opened! Amazing wine and beer selection. You can tell the close attention to detail that has been put into everything here, from the aesthetics of the building and interior, to the presentation of the tables and meals. Most food is local and organic as well as some of the alcohol. Vegetarian options as well! Good looking crowd always seems to be here and music is always on point. They even have a Dj on Thursdays, that plays the only good dance music in Corona Del Mar. Friendly staff and the owner is rad and really cares about his customers and quality of his restaurant! Go check out a cool, local gastropub in the beautiful, quaint town that is Corona Del Mar in Orange County!
Review Source:I've been to the Crow Bar a good dozen times & have to say it's one of my favorite places in CDM. Â I'm a big fan of simply sitting at the bar and checking out whatever game is on that night. Â The bartenders are very knowledgeable about their beers on tap & wines and the food is always excellent.
Green bean fries are a favorite and the burgers are amazing. Â Haven't had a bad meal yet and will continue to go often.
Passed by this place a hundred times and finally decided to stop in on a Saturday night with a bunch of friends before painting the town red.
Ordered some apps:
Parmesan gnocchi and seared ahi - both amazing and delicious. Â The gnocchi was a little on the spicy side but so so yummy.
I ordered the pork chop because I saw how delicious it looked on someone else's table and the BF got the black label burger. SO YUM
Other great dishes were: the short ribs and the mac & cheese...and I don't even like cheese but it was so yummy.
The desserts were bomb. Â 6 of us shared: strawberry cheesecake, kit kat bar, butterscotch pot du creme, and banana heath ice cream.
The bill came out higher than expected, the food is on the pricey side but totally worth it.
Had a great time had the light beer, duck fat fried chicken, mac-n-cheese, pudding w/salted caramel and burrata flat bread. My friends had the butternut squash soup she loved and the other had the spiced halibut burger w/the most AMAZING GREEN BEANS I have ever had!
Staff was great, small intimate place I would feel comfortable going in alone I will be back!
Great service, atmosphere, and the chef has an imagination!
I tried the pretzel and sausage trio.... pretzel was yum.. minus the salt. My friend had the cubano and enjoyed it. Can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu :) The only thing I didn't care for was parking..... hope you brought your flats ladies. You might have to hoof it a ways if your date is too cheap for valet. Good thing mine wasn't :P ;)
Let me preface with: great place for drinks and snacks.
My fault for thinking my first positive experience would carry over into brunch. Got in around opening on a Saturday because I was feeling drunch today. Yes, drunch. The menu looked appetizing enough and the beer selection is always solid.
I went with an omelette and my fiancee got the crow's benedict and we shared the sticky bun. The first bite of stick bun was great - warm, moist and just the right amount of caramelly and pecany sweetness. The bottom of the bun was a bit hard though...such a shame it wasn't cooked through.
Being one of few groups in the spot, I was expecting the food to be out fairly quickly given we just had egg dishes. Waited about 20 minutes and once the food got there I saw that the omelette was a tad burnt on top. Not something I usually see and definitely disappointing. My fiancee's benedict wasn't fulfilling either, especially given the $16 pricetag.
I should've known better than to come here before 5pm.
Hmmm, could've freaking sworn that I wrote a review about this place !
A few years back I had my hubby's surprise birthday party  here, they were able to accomodate 20+ people in their private room below downstairs. Also recently my bestfriend had her birthday here and we had about 10 girls. Service is good, workers are super busy, I do feel as if they are a little understaffed with wait service, our server during my recent visit forgot a few things several times, but nothing big. Also when hubby had his bday party below since we were downstairs when we needed something we couldn't just flag someone down.
Duck fat fries - I thought these were decent, not much of a crisp on the fries as they went soggy fairly quick, aioli was okay, I think they should offer another pairing with the fries with the aioli still.
Cubano sandwich - the sandwich would've be great overall had the pork not been a bit dry, flavors were good, bread was nice and tender with a great bite. Portion was very generous.
Onion rings - were delicious and with a very generous portion, a great bite with a nice crunch, leaving the onion with a nice texture still not soggy at all. Buttermilk dressing was good, definitely house-made.
Spinach & ricotta egg ravioli - I had this dish on my most recent trip and this was a disaster. Two large ravioli's .. they went overboard with the shaved reggiano or pecorino cause this dish was SUPER SALTY .. the brown butter had no depth hardly being called brown. The fresh pasta had a nice al dente bite, I literally had a few bites and then left it. Spinach and ricotta was surprisingly bland, the yolk was in the middle so it would ooze out, great concept, bad execution.
Creamless corn - I did enjoy this dish, the flavors were very sweet and creamy, a side dish I would definitely order again.
Crow burger - This was asked for medium rare yet the burger came mediium/well done, had the burger been cooked correctly this burger would've tasted delicious.
Overall this is a cool place, food is inconsistent but prices are very affordable, I'm not sure if I would ever go out of my way to return here, maybe for cocktails with gf's but as for the food goes I thought it was just alright.
Crow Bar fail :(
We made reservations for four to introduce a couple of our foodie friends to Crow Bar for Newport Beach restaurant week and we were so sadly let down. Â What a waste of money!
We started off with a mini cheese plate (which was really a slice of baguette with a piece of cheese, honey, and some dehydrated berries) and then for second course ordered the arugula salad and the tuna tartar. Â The salad was actually pretty tasty and I loved the bacon in it. Â The tuna tartar was good, but not amazing. Â A bit on the spicy side.
Then it all went downhill...I ordered their famous black label burger medium. Â It came out WELL done. Â Literally cooked to a crisp. Â It was disgusting. Â My girl friend ordered the same - medium. Â And her's came out well done as well. Â She was soooo disappointed because I had been talking this burger up so much. Â It was dry, tasteless, and definitely missing a) some cheese and b) some kind of sauce on it. Â The last time I came in my server had asked me if I wanted cheese on the burger but this time we were never asked. Â Neither of us finished the burger and passed it off to our men to see if they wanted to eat it - both of them didn't like it at all. Â My husband had had the burger before and was as shocked as I was as to how much they butchered this dish for us that night. Â I am not exaggerating when I say that a McDonald's burger would taste better than what we got.
Then out came our desserts - I ordered the chocolate muffin and the hubs ordered the oatmeal cookie sandwich so that we could share. Â The chocolate muffin was decent but the oatmeal cookies were burnt and hard. Â My girl friend is a pastry chef and she literally didn't want to finish eating her dessert. Â They screwed up our dessert orders and brought out the wrong dessert for her boyfriend but after she tasted the cookie, they were glad they at least had the chocolate muffin. Â But at this point we had paid $40 each for food that we didn't like so were just going to suck it up and eat it.
I'm so bummed out because I loved this place and I was hoping my friends would too but now I doubt they will ever be back :(
Another irritating situation with this evening is that I also got charged $125 on top of what I paid for some reason. Â I called to speak to their manager the same night but he couldn't figure out where it was coming from and he basically said he couldn't do anything and it's possibly a problem with my bank. Â The charge never dropped off so I had to call my bank and have them look into it and reverse it as a fraudulent charge. Â It was such a hassle!
I'm "helpless" and at loss when I don't have my phone or the yelp app is not connecting for some reason. :/
I guess when you're at a gastropub you should automatically order a burger, but I was just really not feening for one and instead tried to opt for something healthier. Like say a wrap. I believe I ordered the 'grilled chicken wrap'
Grilled chicken wrap
-thought it would be 'healthy/healthier' since it's grilled
-omg so much cheese...... I don't hate cheese, but it was just so excessive. I'm sure it wasn't parmesan but it was powdery and ALL OVER and under the wrap
+it's humongous and messy. Don't order when on a date, unless you know how to handle it ;)
But why did I rate 4 stars??
+Because The Crow Bar had some of the years from the stone brewing co vertical epic series: 4/4/4 6/6/6 8/8/8 10/10/10 and 12/12/12 and they were also available as a flight.
win.
+also our waitress was very smiley and nice
other info:
-valet parking on the side/behind restaurant
-we went weekday lunch, lots of older people
-I wasn't very observant because I was sitting facing towards the outside of the restaurant so like when you look at your date you basically see a dark outline of his body against the window (does that make sense?) I'm sitting with my back facing the windows next time!
The Black Label burger....DELICIOUS! The night before I had Umami Burger and this was pretty much better. I loved it. I highly suggest going in to get that to eat.
Atmosphere is dark and hipster-y. It's really busy at night but there is a downstairs section that doesn't seem to be used too much for the night time drinking unless you are having a meal.
I'm salivating just thinking about this burger.
This my favorite Gastropub in Orange County. I am a repeat customer and really enjoy the beer and dinner menu.
Black Label burger and the Duck Fries are my favorite. Yes the price of the burger is high but what do you expect with high quality blend of meat, this is not your local In and Out meat. The fries are very flavorful and add the great mix to the burger. The sausage trio is a great appetizer, the dipping sauces are a great compliment to the sausage.
Highly recommend this place but get reservations for the summer and not a great place if you are trying to have a conversation. The place is very loud but what do you expect from a Gastropub, that is only downfall to my rating.
I have been wanting to try Crow Bar for quite sometime and finally made it over. Â I have had many friends tell me this is the place to get one of the best burgers in the OC and possibly the best burger I would ever have. Â
Well tonight, unfortunately, it was not to be. Â We ordered the Black Label Burger which consists of an 8 oz blend of a 21 day dry aged prime ribeye, served on a buttermilk bun with bone marrow butter and caramelized onions. Â We ordered the burger medium rare and it seemed to take awhile for our burger to make its way out of the kitchen. Â Once the burger arrived it initially looked great. Â When I bit into the burger I noticed it had a crunchy (burnt), dry texture to the meat. Â I tried another bite and still tasted the burnt flavor. Â The top part of the burger looked fine but the bottom was burnt and was cooked more on the medium side. Â Apparently the cook forgot about the burger and served it anyway. Â I could see this happening at other burger places, but then again they don't charge $19 for a burger. Â
Along side the burger we had some duck fat fries. Â They were flavorful, although some were hot and some were cold. Â
We also tried the Cubano sandwich, a combination of thinly sliced pork loin, ham, pickles, mustard aioli spread, and Havarti cheese in a torpedo roll. Â The pork was tender as was the ham. Â This sandwich was very well made and I have to say I loved it. Â This sandwich was a complete afterthought, Â as my intention was initially focused on trying this spectacular burger. Â I would give this meal and my overall experience 2.5 stars. Â There are too many other good burger places I have been to on a regular basis that time after time consistently make a great burger. Â Needless to say, this was my first visit to Crow Bar and likely my last.
