We really enjoyed this place. The bar tender had personality and recommended the Reuben spring rolls. YUM!!!  Good choice for sure. Very different and very tasty. Great place to come and get away from all the other super loud places and grab a Guiness.

This is a great little Pub in Downtown St Pete. It is as much a bar as a restaurant so if that bothers you it might not work for you. But when I've been there during the day it feels more like a restaurant than a bar. I've had the Patty melt and it was really good. I've also had their fish and chips also really good but maybe a little over priced  I've had taste of their shepherds and it's delicious I'll be ordering my own next time I'm there. The service is awesome they're fast and friendly and very willing to accommodate special requests.  So yeah next time the line at the Lucky dill is out the door head next door to Crowley's you'll be glad you did.

Well, we finally made it down to the famous Crowley's and they did not disappoint. We had the dirty nachos, and reuben egg rolls, they were awesome! My oldest son also got what he said was the best pastrami sandwich on earth. Happy to see they pour a proper black and tan here also. The Bawdy Boys play here on Thursday nights (wish it was Friday or Saturday nights). We will get back here again and again I am sure.

Giving them 4 stars because they are a good partner to the community.  Nothing much in terms of ambiance, but they have a full bar and pub fare.  They have music or trivia most nights of the week and stay open late.  Service is good for a bar.

I go for Running for Brews sometimes which is a running group that meets here on Tues nights (I think) and heads out for a run and then gets discounted beer upon return.

They are also a stop on the eat, sip, indulge food tour.

    Enjoy!

Crowley's had me at their Reuben Egg Rolls...so freaking yummy! It's hard for me to order anything else when I go there because they are so good but everyone I have brought back has enjoyed their food as well.  Great place to go for a beer and some grub!

I really like this place, and have been here a few times. but the last time was a little disappointing. We got a bad server, and I'm hoping she will find her self before we return. She was lost. In sooo many ways, just lost.......

But the food was fantastic as always, and I LOVE the draft combo selections! So this place will stay on my list of favorites!

I am a fan of anything and all that is Irish. Growing up, I was taught by Irish Catholic nuns and have fond memories of their strict, dictatorship rule in the classroom. I was also an avid Irish step dancer and was once taught by Karl Drake, who just last year was featured on an Irish step dancing reality show on TLC. Being that this is the week of St. Patrick's Day, I simply had to venture up to Crowley's and see what it is all about. We arrived around 8 p.m., and there was a leprechaun outside standing on a platform, and a bunch of runners were surrounding him. I just assumed a run had taken place that evening, and that the runners had arrived at the end of the rainbow, which happened to be at Crowley's. We walked in and were told to take a seat wherever, and luckily there was an open table. I searched over the drink menu and was in the mood for a snakebite, so I went with that. St. Patrick did after all drive all the snakes out of Ireland, so I felt this drink choice was appropriate. (Actually, that's a myth, Ireland never had snakes....now you know the truth.) We started with an appetizer of Pots & Dogs which consisted of small potatoes, sliced hot dogs and grilled onions with a side of spicy mustard...mmmm. My husband went with the filet for his dinner and for pub food, it was actually very delicious! I went with the Mamma's pepper and onions topped with grilled chicken over jasmine rice, and boy was it tasty. The portion was huge, so I had plenty of leftovers to bring home to Petunia, my potbellied pig. Since it was a Wednesday, we had the pleasure of hearing Daniel O'Ryan perform and not only sing some classic Irish ballads, but also propose many Irish toasts and play the bagpipes! If it hadn't been so crowded, I just may have gotten up and performed one of my old Irish stepdancing jigs. Maybe next time. In the meantime, I look forward to returning to Crowley's and trying out one of their famous burgers or the St. Pete roll!! Sláinte!

I absolutely loved Crowley's Downtown!  I was vacationing in St. Pete and was looking for a local spot to grab some food that I could walk to from my hotel.  Crowley's was perfect!  They served up some of the best "bar food" I've ever had.  Awesome beer selection, too!

Great place for traditional Irish food as well as some awesome twists on pub favorites. Last visit we had the Reuben which is stupendous, and their Dirty Nachos. They make their nachos with potatoes (twisty huh?), topped with a sauce made from sour cream and hot sauce. To say we scarffed them down is an understatement. Stop reading this and go go go.

Breakfast........go for the breakfast. Crowleys has secretely become one of the best breakfast spots around. But make sure you come over on the weekend. It's a weekend only breakfast situation. Nothing cures a hangover like an omelet with grits and a Guinness. That's how you start a Saturday morning.

Warning: it's not the cheapest breakfast in town so if ur on that pinch a penny hustle look elsewhere

We had a deal for this place and decided to try it out when we were wanting Irish food. Overall, we had a good experience.
-It is a very small place
-My husband ordered a beer off of the "draft" list and the waitress brought out a can. When my husband asked why it wasn't a draft, she said "oh - our beers change a lot." So why not fix the menu?? My husband was pretty disappointed with that.
-We had the chicken pot pie and "Crowley" pie, or Shepard's pie. They were both really good. However, they were both around $13 which I thought was kind of expensive for meals that are made of really cheap ingredients (potatoes, corn, peas, etc.)
    -Our service was good.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience but I don't think we'll be back because of the cost. I would definitely come back with another deal certificate.

I'm pretty sure that Matt Crowley is by far the coolest bartender I have ever met. He is so genuinely friendly. There is a sign behind the bar that says "come as strangers, leave as friends" and I really feel that he embodies that message. He introduces himself and shakes your hand.. what bartender actually does that? I just love the whole intimate feel of this place.. yet it is still a great bar to watch sports and such. And all the patrons seem to be equally friendly.

The food here is spectacular. Reuben eggrolls are a MUST! All the sandwiches I've had have been great. I couldn't choose which to order so Matt flipped a quarter... oh a man after my own heart.  The pastrami sandwich was a keeper. Also get the gravy to dip your fries in. It is so delicious and creamy.

They have a great selection of stuff on tap too. If you're into cider, you can get it with a splash of frambois, tastes kinda like a wine spritzer.

This is a review for Crowley's, and their excellent staff...

We went to see Michael Bolton last week at the Mahaffey.  Before the show, people that donate to the Mahaffey Foundation have a semi-private bar area.  In this area that night, Crowley's catered for us, and I think they did it at little to no charge to the M Foundation.

The foods they made and served were most excellent! BBQ chicken was cooked perfectly, and the St. Pete Roll was just excellent.  Also, they had "Deegans", which are a special type of deviled eggs....

They just gained a customer.  Thanks guys, we appreciate the hospitality.

Really impressed with this little unimposing joint in St. Pete.  Stopped in for lunch, and as I love to do, asked the server to help me make up my mind.  "We" decided on the Rueben, which was awesome.  He told me they actually corn the beef in house, and actually do a lot of the things from scratch there, despite its bar vibe, they are really about the food.  The Corned beef was thick cut, almost like it was cut for corned beef and cabbage, but it was so tender there was not problem eating it.  The bread got a tiny bit soggy at the end because the beef was so juicy.... next time I will try to eat faster, cause the beef was perfect.

The bar has a good selection of beers and when I came back just for some drinks with a friend, I asked about what was better- bangers or Scotch egg?  The response?  Rueben egg rolls!  He said they were awesome, and after trying the Rueben proper, it was hard to doubt him.  I have had them at other places, and these were better than anywhere else I've had BUT I would still recommend the sandwich over the app.  It could just be the Rye bread, but there was something small missing from the appetizer in comparison.

The menu isn't huge, but has a good variety, i don't think you can walk out of here dissappointed.

This place exceeded expectations. I was leary after my experience at Moon Under the Water.

Crowley's draught beers are awesome (I had a Guiness with Krispin cider) and my hubby had a chocolate stout with raspberry lambic. Both were very tasty. They have a decent selection of beers. Their Veggie burger was phenomenal! I love it went places make their own veggie burger instead of just selling a tasteless, frozen Boca burger. Their veggie burger isn't made in house. Apparently the mixture is made elsewhere and then cooked for sale for patrons at Crowley's. My husband loved the sausage and peppers sandwich. It was huge with a large side of fries. My son's cheeseburger was cooked well, juicy, and the bun was soft. The fries were pretty good. It says hand cut...they are thick steak fries. It didn't seem like fresh cut fries because there was no skin.

Service was impeccable. The waitress gave our son a free refill on the juicebox. Nice touch!  We even met Mr Crowley! He gave our son two beaded necklaces. How nice!

Just left after my first visit. I'll be back... tomorrow! The fries and gravy were excellent. The burger was great. The meat itself was the weakest link. Seemed oddly pressed, like a frozen burger, and it came pink instead of medium well. The bun, cheese, and toppings made up for it. Burgers and sandwiches are reasonable, but some of the prices were 3-star. $17 for fish n chips?!?!

Service was attentive and friendly, especially for downtown St Pete!

    Trying the Irish Dip tomorrow.

Update: Went back the next day, and tried an Irish Dip. It was good, but no better than a $6 one at Johnny's. The fries and gravy are great.

I'll be back to Crowley's, but it's not exceptional.

Crowley's is a go-to spot for me and my friends and family, especially after Tampa Bay Rowdies matches; if you are a soccer supporter (fan) and enjoy a fun atmosphere, this is the place.  The fun vibe after Rowdies matches is unbeatable, and the staff encourage and embrace this, eagerly and knowledgeably holding conversations with patrons about game results, league standings, and more.  Crowley's also regularly shows soccer matches from around the world, British Premier League matches, and is a US Soccer supporters' bar.  They do a great job publicizing which matches will be shown on their televisions through their Facebook page, so if this is your thing as it is mine, get on their FB.

Their menu is good; typical pub grub but done quite well.  I enjoy the wide variety of domestic and import beers on tap and in the bottle; I was happy to see that on one occasion as I checked in there via the Yelp! ap that I was offered a coupon for $1 off a draft beer, which happened to be what I ordered; it didn't work out for me that visit though, as I ordered a beer from their draft menu and the server told me after the fact that they had discontinued carrying it as a draft and replaced it in the can, so I couldn't use my discount.  If only they'd updated their menu...but this is insignificant compared to the other positives about Crowley's.

I couldn't close a review of Crowley's without recognizing their staff; good service can be hard to find nowadays, and their bartenders and servers are above the norm.  They do a lot to make you feel welcome, know a lot about beers as well as soccer (sense a theme here?), and really seem as if they're having a good time too.  If the staff is having fun, there's a good chance you will too.  Check 'em out.

Crowley's has become our favorite restaurant in St. Pete. I have been to Crowley's about 20 times now and they never disappoint. They have great food, great service and a fun atmosphere. You can eat outside, at the bar or at an inside tablet that is more private.

For breakfast (Sat & Sun they open at 8am for Breakfast) I normally order biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash or an omelet. The Biscuits and Gravy are the best I have ever had. They have huge chunks of sausage in them and they are slightly spicy. They are served with eggs or potatoes (which are amazing by themselves). The corned beef hash is REAL Corned beef hash...not the canned stuff. You get chunks of fresh and delicious corned beef mixed in with potatoes and I believe onions and peppers. The omelets come with just about anything you want inside of them and taste great with a layer of cheese folded on the inside. You can also order specialty (or regular) Mimosa's for $5 with your breakfast. I like the Crisposa which is Crispin Apple Cider and OJ.

As an appetizer I highly recommend the St. Pete Roll. It is thin, but bready dough wrapped up with cheese and sausage. It is to die for. Their nachos are also unique and delicious.

For dinner my favorites are the Irish Dip, Fish & Chips or Sheppard's Pie. This list would probably be longer, but I tend to order the same thing because it is so good. The Irish Dip is basically the best French Dip you have ever had. It is piled high on a fresh bun and served with au jus and french fries. The Fish and Chips are also the best I have ever tried anywhere. The fish is so thick and the crust is perfectly flaky. I am picky when it comes to fish. It has to be high quality and not taste fishy. Crowley's always achieves this. The Sheppard's Pie is also delicious and is a huge portion. It has an intense broth flavor seeped into every bite. and is piled high with mashed potatoes and cheese.

Crowley's also has a fantastic beer selection. They change out their beer on tap often. They also tend to have a lot of specialty beer events on Fri & Sat nights. In addition, they have a decent bottle selection. I can always find something that I am happy to drink.

I have also always received amazing service at Crowley's. A lot of the staff know us by now, but even the new wait staff treat us great. They are friendly and normally on top of our drinks and food. You can tell that everyone that works there loves their job. They have even done a few special things for us like make us Irish Dips at breakfast time or let us try an expensive beer that they aren't supposed to. On most of their beers they give free samples, so make sure you ask.

If you haven't been to Crowley's, you are missing out. This is one restaurant you must try.

Best Reuben I've had in a long time.  Piled high, warm, tender corned beef on marble rye with sauerkraut and a wonderful sauce.  The sweet potato fries were crisp and seasoned to perfection.  The pulled pig sandwich was smokey, tender and delish!

Would have given 4 if the server was on his game.  We had to ask for silverware, asked for water and he brought 2 - there were 3 of us.  Asked for tab and I think he went on break?????

    Can't fault the grub tho.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Five stars all the way! I would like to say, first, that the owner came up to us after she overheard we are Paramedics. She was quick to thank us for the line of work we do, and inform us that every cop, firefighter or EMT/paramedic gets 20% their entire check every time we eat or drink there. Wow! That was a rare occasion, but I will certainly take it!

Crowley's has a GREAT format - small, cozy bar with plenty of table seats and a decent sized wooden bar. The service was EXCELLENT and, as my local friends explained, it typically always is. We came there specifically for one thing - the Ruben egg rolls, but found ourselves drinking lot of beer and getting breakfast. It was 11am on Saturday morning, don't judge us! The breakfast was pretty good, could have dealt without the circle deep friend hash browns. I believe they are frozen and not very good. My breakfast burrito was tasty, and HUGE! The egg rolls were simply PERFECT! So delicious, and full of gooey cheese and meat. Awesome!

I will note that one annoying thing - there were miller light girls there doing a promotion and we could not get more than a few words out before they came back to our table to talk to us. STOP! We are done. Thank you for the free beer, and offering other promotions, but go talk to some of the other patrons there receiving free booze as well. Oh well, not a big deal, just kind of annoying!

I really like this place and I will return on my next visit. Cheap beer, great food and service and all in a terrific location downtown!

I can honestly say that I may have had the best cheeseburger in my life here at Crowley's. Before I get into that, let me explain other reasons why this place is unique.

There is something about this part of Florida that is so family oriented and down to earth. The woman who was behind the bar is a hard worker. She was sick on this day, but in spite of that, she motored on doing her job. She was clearly in charge. Very friendly. She was talking to an older man, and I heard her call him dad. It led me to presume that this is a family-owned place.

A guy named John was my bartender. Incredibly friendly gentleman who always had a smile on his face, and who seemed genuinely interested in my well being. He had nothing to worry about with me. This place has cold beer, and an impressive collection of micro brews, as well as imported and exported beers.

The cheeseburger was homemade and very juicy. It had mayo, ketchup and mustard on top of the melted cheedar cheese. Red onions were placed below. If you have read any of my previous reviews, you'll know that I have a belief that red onions are for salads, and white onions (raw) are ideal for burgers. This burger proved me wrong.

The best part is the bun. The bun is soft and fresh. It is often under-appreciated, but is in my opinion a crucial aspect in the construction of a top-notch burger. This place gets it right.

When I return, I'll bring more people, and I will tell them that my favorite burger of all time is right here at Crowley's.

Thanks to the spot on Yelp reviews, we went to Crowley's. If you're a Sox fan, do yourself a favor and sit in the back room. In turns out the owner of this family establishment, Mr. Crowley, is original from Central MA, and has a plethora of Red Sox memorabilia adorning the walls in back. On top of this the food is fantastic! Over two visits I had the corn beef egg rolls, Scottish eggs, the reuben sandwich, cod sandwich, and pulled pork sandwich. Loved every sandwich I ate. Heard good things about the pastrami, the mac n' cheese, and steak sandwich. A great selection of beer and wine, and they serve food and drink until 3AM! We're not in Boston anymore, Toto!

Absolutely, the best food for hearty appetites on downtown St. Pete's increasingly busy Central Ave.
Though this is primarily a bar, and gets very busy on First Friday and most weekend nights, you will also notice the huge portions on the plates that occupy many of the tables.
The burger I had was one of the best I've ever had: a very large seasoned patty, with melted cheddar and a way above average bun. The fries are those huge steak fries, very potatoey. I personally love that type of fry the best, and you don't encounter them much these days. They also come as a separate appetizer with a delicious brown gravy if you are really hungry for that.
The beer selection includes some craft options, always a good sign and shows the management is smart about the craft beer trend that is overtaking the local market. After we ordered a bogo IPA beer from a local promotion booklet,we decided to split just one more beer draught.. The bartender (who I think is also related to the owners) filled both our glasses, and said, "That is splitting it." Thank you, sir!
For that gesture alone, I will be a repeat customer. But really the food is a draw. The corned beef and cabbage plate looks phenomenal if you are in that mood.

From an out of towner's perspective...

We had dinner at Crowley's after spending the day in St. Petersburg and everything was great. Our waitress was nice, attentive, and fast.  Good prices on beer and food (sweet potato fries were amazing).  Overall it's a nice chill pub located on a hoppin block (for St. Pete anyways).  I would definately recommend Crowley's for drinks and dinner.

Why 4 stars?  Because this is one of the best burgers in Tampa Bay.

      ---   ---   ---

Crowley's has a KILLER burger.  Go with provolone cheese, you'll end up thanking me via Yelp compliment while you're chewing your first bite.  It tastes like the beef was smothered to death with cheese.  The beef itself is so tender and almost tastes buttery.  Even the bun is phenom-nom.

For breakfast I had some kind of ham and cheese sandwich with these tator tot/potato things.  I don't remember what they were called, but they were absolutely epic.  Absolutely (temperature) hot as well, so let them sit if you order.

Crowley's deserves 4.5 stars, but it's absolutely one of my favorite places in Downtown St. Pete.

    Hiya ...

went here tonight for the first time we actually won a gift certificate for $25.00 and it is one we had not gone to yet except a beer.

So unfortunatly my shiraz (red) was out of stock so I ordered hot tea.  Karyn L. was right they do not serve liquor but they do have a nice little wine selection which my husband enjoyed two glasses of the house.

We ordered their country fried chicken special ... I admit it I am a winer .. the chicken was fabulous!  Exactly what our server said it was ... a huge chicken breast that was hmm i think battered and fried a huge portion of red mashed potatoes and glazed baby carrots ...

we sat outside and really enjoyed ourselves ... our bill - gift certificate 5.89 crazy fantastic

my disappointment i ordered a hot tea and they dont have milk ... so our waitress actually went to three other restaurants to get me some milk ... cute

Great bar with a good selection of beers.  Perfect location in downtown, near lots of other restaurants and bars if you're bar hopping.

They do not serve liquor or wine, but our server told us we could go next door and get a drink to bring back.  I thought that was really cool, since some of us in our group were not beer drinkers.

We ordered a plate of fries and gravy for something to munch on as the night wore on.  The fries were average- big and thick steak fries from a bag.  The gravy was absolutely disgusting.  It had the consistency of pudding.  Thick and gluey.
I don't get the positive reviews for the food here.  Maybe the fries were not the thing to start with, but if they can't get fries and gravy right, I'm kind of fearful of the rest of the menu.
Either way, it's a good place for a drink.

    5.0/5.0 - We have a winner!

Okay, so I am updating Crowley's rating to 5 stars based on our lunch yesterday.  They are good every time we visit, but I have now come to the conclusion that they have the absolute best Reuben sandwich in the southeastern United States.

People, that reuben yesterday was absolute perfection.  The kind of sandwich exquisiteness that leaves you craving one the next day.

It 's now a crime to visit Crowleys and not order that reuben.

Great job guys, please keep up the good work!  We will be coming back very soon!

Went here for breakfast after browsing the Saturday Morning Market in DTSP. I was thinkin, man we're taking a risk going to breakfast at a bar, this could be ugly. The food could not have been better. I had the veggie omelet and the veggies were fresh and not over cooked. Two other people that I was with ordered the Corned Beef Hash after the waiter recommended it. It was the real deal hash! Home made and large chunks of meat fried perfectly crispy. The potatoes are deep fried and excellent.

I took one star away from 5 because it's beer and wine only. Two of us wanted a Bloody Mary, but the waiter helped us out by telling us about a full liquor bar at the end of the block where we could get one to go! You have to tell them that you're taking it to Crowley's though or they won't let you leave with it.

I'd go back in a heart beat.

This place is great! I went here twice this weekend.  On Saturday...we tried all but 2 of the appetizers (some I provided pictures of). They were all fantastic but also the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.  For what they were, they were all a bit pricey.

On Sunday, 5 of us went and everything was delicious and well-portioned.  We all got entree's or sandwiches.  I got the Fish and Chips; it comes with a bunch of fries, gravy and coleslaw. The fish was light and flaky and the breading was scrumptious.

    Standouts:
    *The Gravy
    *The Service
    *Deegans (Deviled Eggs w/ bacon)
    *Reuben Egg Rolls
    *Atmosphere
    *Beer Selection

    Happy Hour Daily 3-7

Also...I'm looking forward to going back and trying the $12.99 7-course Irish Dinner. (Just ask)
