The Ale & The Witch

While I don't generally approve of punnery in my businesses, The Ale & The Withc gets a pass on calling it "craft" beer. This place is so relaxed, warm, friendly and welcoming, it's really hard to begrudge them anything! Of course, The live bands can be a bit grating at times, but the ability to wander off and bring food back with you to your table, the helpful and knowledgeable staff... The outside seating that makes the place feel like a giant house party that you don't want to leave, it's pretty interesting. And if you're not shy, strike up a conversation with your fellow patrons... Some of the most interesting people frequent the place!

When I have friends in town visiting, this is the place I take them for a round of beers while we catch up. There are many things to love about The Ale & The Witch, but what I like most is the atmosphere. The crowd at this bar is diverse, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. With people and dogs roaming around the outdoor courtyard, it feels like one large backyard party.

Frequently, I find myself here asking the bar staff for a solid recommendation and then grabbing a table outside. With live music playing, I'll have a couple great beers before meandering over to Rollbotto for some sushi that I can bring back to my table.

Definitely one of the better bars I've been to around the country, let alone in the St. Pete area.

The owner is quite friendly...the bartenders and wait staff are usually NOT and somewhat pompous. The music is free but the beers are overpriced at $6-$10 each. I can get some of the same beers in St. Pete for $5. The taps are rotated frequently so this is a plus.
