With a group of five on a Saturday night. Only two had been to Crown Bar before, and they said the food was pretty good. We walk in, place is pretty empty, so we seat ourselves at a round table by the window and start our conversations. "Have you two met before?" "Of course we have!" You know, casual conversation. Waiter walks up and he is clearly irate, not BECAUSE of us but most certainly AT us. My friend had unfolded his napkin and placed it on his lap. "Our kitchen is closed so you shouldn't have that on your lap" he snaps, to which friend, somewhat shocked, replies "I'm sorry, I guess I did it out of habit..." Waiter asks for our IDs, and said friend hands it over. The rest of us had been continuing to converse through this exchange, but when we see IDs we stop to grab ours (very standard behavior, from what I seem to understand). However, at this point waiter is fed up with waiting the approximate ten seconds it took us to collectively grab our wallets, extract IDs, and hand them over, so he says "Actually I won't be serving you guys because I asked for your IDs and you clearly just want to have a conversation. So...see ya." I look at him with a sheepish half-smile, thinking he told a joke and I missed the punchline. His expression does not change, so we gather our belongings and head for the door.

Very bizarre experience. We must have spent less than three minutes in the restaurant, and that is three minutes more than I will ever spend there again. You'd be better off going to Marrow, or pretty much anywhere else on 6th, and I'll make sure my friends are aware of this in the future.

Happy hour wasn't all day Sunday on everything :/ Which is misleading when you look at this <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crownbartacoma.com%2Fhappyhour.html&s=868c779c75322a0ab85ab578810e319c50e1b699357ea65f1d55d123beec41ce" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.crownbartacom…</a>.

The food itself was good. Weird portions sizes. The sliders were super tiny and then a side of fries came on a huge platter? It was funny but confusing.

The beer on draft was good. I get a little sad when a Hef/Belgian isn't available. I went with the amber, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Not sure I will return, but it was worth a try.

I've been to the Crown before, maybe a year ago and I thought it was ok. Then Guy Fieri comes to town and features it on his show; Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and raves about the kebobs and beet salad. So we checked it out, early Saturday evening. I don't know if the chef who was cooking for him normally or still cooks here, but our experience was pretty bad. First, our server, a young lady, could not have been colder or more impolite. We ordered appetizers, grilled romaine heart and the beet salad featured on the show. I thought the romaine was soggy at the ends and not nice. The beet salad was very underwhelming with not much taste to it. For entrees, I had the Chef's Special for the evening: Pulled pork tacos and my wife had the kebobs. She said the kebobs were dry. The pulled pork was also dry and flavorless, no sauce and put inside an overly large flour tortilla that was cold. So, mostly I just had a mouthful of cold tortilla and couldn't taste much else. The couple we came with also expressed disappointment with the meal. We have all vowed to never go back. Sad, because I like the interior and the drinks are fine. Just don't order the food!
