This place is awesome!! The kids loved the decor, the menu was just big enough and did include a kids menu. I got the tiger shrimp, it was delicious! Outstanding fries and ranch dressing! Pretty view, great prices, if you are close, try this amazing place!!!

Ok..this place was suggested by the Garden and Sea Bed and Breakfast. We had such a fun time! It definitely is a "hole in the wall" but has lots of character. We loved sitting in the outside dining area. All the windows were open and you could feel the breeze off the water. As for the food, my husband looovveed his blackened tuna sandwich. I had a taste and it was cooked perfect and very well seasoned. I ordered the crab dip as a sampler and the soft crab basket with macaroni salad and french fries. My daughter ordered the crab soup and grilled cheese. The crab dip appetizer was a hamburger bun filled with dip and fried tortillas for dipping. It was good but not great. I couldn't really taste any pieces of crab just cream cheese and seasoning. I am not sure if they blended it to make more smooth or what. My daughter did not like the dip and unfortunately her soup looked and tasted exactly like the dip. Since she did not like it, I gave her my soft crab which she loved and I got the soup. I totally agree with her, the soup was terrible. I pretty much ate crab dip and then crab dip in soup form. No pieces of crab in the soup. Disappointing. The french fries were really good though. All in all, this place was memorable and I would go back but order different food.

Great meal, great value! Soft shells and crab cake were as good as I've ever had, and their "glass of wine" was nearly a pitcher! Wonderful!

The Crusty Crab is a cute little seafood place that looks rough but tastes great! Their mascot is a pirate version of Mr. Krabs and they are much better than the past occupiers of their building.

They have 2 fairly large dining areas, one indoors and a screened patio overlooking the water. In the winter the patio windows are closed  and heaters are on so you can still see the view while you dine. The inside is decorated as best it can with a pirate and sea theme and the front desk is shaped like a pirate ship, although the plainness of the building itself still shows through.

Service is a little slow since they are small staffed but that's okay since this is a place for conversation anyway. They are always friendly and kind, and make sure to refill drinks often. Everything is made fresh and their sweet tea is so yummy! Try the Crabby Fries for a great appetizer. It's a wonderful mix of cheese, fries, and a certain creaminess with crab seasoning that I just love so much. For dinner I always go for the fish tenders basket at around $6. They certainly don't skimp on the fish, it always makes up at least half of the basket and is lightly breaded with a moist tender flakiness and two sides.

They also serve fish, chicken, hamburgers, and sandwiches prepared to your liking, all of which I hear is good. It's a nice little place just outside of Captains Cove. Give it a try for sure!

It seems the best seafood places are the rapidly disappearing crab shacks that dot coastal areas.  Always off the beaten path, always in need of a coat of paint, and always known by the locals, these places are known for their fresh simple fare, reasonable prices, and good service.  The Crusty Crab opened approx. one month ago, and has that crab-shack attitude, with an expanded menu.  The site has been the home of several other seafood places, most recently the dreadful "Clammy Hands".
On a recent trip to  The Crusty Crab, we were the only diners in the restaurant, and were treated like royalty.  Lisa, our server, gave several great suggestions, one of which was the crab quesadilla, which  billed as an appetizer, was a perfect size as a lunch entree.  Yes, they do have a liquor license, and several desserts.  The dining area is divided into two areas, indoor and air-conditioned, and an outdoor screened room overlooking the Chincoteague Bay.  On this 100 degree no breeze day,  we opted for the AC.  The decor is most decidedly crab house kitch, but who cares, the food was good. If you happen to be on Virginia's Eastern Shore, go.  You won't be sorry.  Go.
