My parents go to Rivers Casino often with their friends, usually on Wednesdays when they have all you can eat crab legs at the buffet. My brother joined them this past wednesday for my mom's bday and he bumped into a live band playing at Cube. He chilled while my parents enjoyed themselves at the casino. He learned that Cube had live DJs on Fri and Sat so, along with a friend, three of us checked it out yesterday, Sat. $5 cover (CASH ONLY), garage parking (FREE), amaretto stone sour $8 (Weak!!) DJ Q was great, he played clips from old early 90's music (You can get with this or you can get with that, Lick It and Perculator) in his set WOW!. Crowd was very mixed, this one dude even cleared the floor and did a cartwheel!! You had typical eye groping group of men, Â older gentlemen standing by themselves and couples grinding, but if you just want to dance and have a good time with friends - this is definitely the place. We are coming back and definitely spreading the word!
For you housers, Julian Jumpin Perez on April 10th! -- SEE YOU THERE!
Was here a few months ago to see a band on a Thursday night (it was Hairbangers Ball). Â Overall, not bad. Â It didn't get too loud (good for the venue, not for the music but that's another story). Â Drinks are just a bit pricey (I only had 2 Miller Lites). Â They had no cover - not sure if that is the norm or they just somehow missed me. Â If you smoke, the porch outside is covered, has heat lamps in cooler weather, and is decently blocked from the wind...and they give you no crap about smoking a cigar. Â Overall, the whole place was clean if it was a little lacking in seating. Â I didn't see any of this bottle service bullsh!t going on but who knows what happens on the weekends (if they do, count me out. Â C'mon, bottle service in the burbs? Â PUH-LEEZE). Â If a band comes to play, I'd stop in again.
Review Source:"um. I don't know if I remember how to dance..."
As a woman in my 30s, I have been out of the dance club scene for many years. I don't do bottle service, I rarely am out with my "dancing" friends (which makes me sad), and lots of times, I don't quite have enough of the RIGHT liquor to get me out there.
Cube changed all that. Are you going to judge me for having an awesome time at a suburban casino's dance club (that is apparently sometimes a sports bar)? If so, don't care. I will just say it: I had SO MUCH FUN HERE. I'm not much of a gambler, so on a recent Friday night after losing $20 in a slot machine in 2.2 minutes, my gal pal and I chose to hit up the club.
Perhaps it was the stellar company (yes, one of those "dancing" friends that has known me since we both sported mouths-full of braces), perhaps it was the liquor of choice (tequiiiila!), or perhaps it was the great music playing. Maybe it was all of the above, coupled with the fact that EVERYONE danced. Young, old, hot, not-so-hot, Real Housewives of Schaumburg, business travelers...everyone was getting down. That's my kind of place. Everyone was having a good time.
So, it turns out after a few tequilas, I DO know how to dance.
The cons:
-Cover charge ($5)
-Pricey drinks ($9)
The pros:
-See above, obv.
-Once you've paid your cover, you can come and go as you please. So, take dance breaks from the gambling, guys.
So if you find yourself in the casino and not wanting to gamble, or just looking for a break and in the mood to dance? Do it.
My wife and I stopped in during our visit to Rivers Casino on a Saturday night. The casino was packed. Five per to get in, not bad. Vodka cherry ran $8, they actually had a beer on tap that was $2, unheard of.
The music was live DJ on stage, atmosphere check, party sections available by reservation next to dance floor. Â In addition to the main bar, they had a bar by the dance floor as well - nice.
Best thing about this place is the variety of folks in regards to age and ethnicity. Usually at a dance place, my wife and I would stand out due to our age (39-42). Not here. There was just about everything in the house, young, old, and everything in between.
They will also stamp your hand so you can step in and out all night as well.
If you need to get your dance on but don't want to go downtown, the cube will work.
We'll be back.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our trip to the Cube. We found it a nice relief after playing around in the actual casino. People are not kidding when they say that the best part is the variety of people this place attracts. We saw people from our age group 21+, to middle aged couples, to several groups of men in their seventies looking for someone to boogie with! Later in the night we even saw two separate bachelorette parties join in the fun.
Although the drinks in Cube were more expensive than the Casino's drinks ($3 more) I thought they were well made. There was nothing weak about them, not in my opinion. I watched them make both a cranberry and vodka as well as a martini and both were adequately full and drowned in vodka. Despite their plastic cups, which are a little sore on the eyes, I thought the drinks were fine.
The DJ was great, he played a fun mix of modern songs with some fun oldies. I love a place where I can get down to 'September' by Earth Wind and Fire, and then jam to 'Hot in Here' two minutes later. The music was awesome and kept us dancing for hours on end.
I think if you're out for a good time, some good laughs, and to meet some nice people the Cube is a nice place to go. Is it the best club? No. However, you can go there and not feel like you're going to get robbed or ground on by every nasty guy on the dance floor. It's a light hearted place with an interesting mix of people who want to get a little buzzed and have a good time. Nothing wrong with that. We definitely plan on going back with a group of friends.
I was here last Friday night. Good vibe. I like the variety of music on a weekly basis. The crowd is unique and fun to people watch.
The drinks are terrible though. Very weak and expensive for what you get. I ordered a vodka sprite and it came in those little clear plastic cups. It was $6.00. Maybe two shots of Sprite and half a shot of vodka can fit in those things.
Step it up Cube. You're a casino. You're better than this. Also, all the bartenders were very rude. They seemed as if they were too busy to help us. I am sorry that my drink order has to end your conversation with the other bartender. Next time ignore me so that I don't overpay for a crappy drink.
Rivers is still my favorite casino around; however, I will def pregame before going to Cube again. They need better staff and management.
Was unpleasantly surprised as the other restaurants in the casino look good. Â On NCAA championship night, it was not very busy at all. Â Ordered a beer and the buffalo rock shrimp. Â Five minutes later and I hadn't received my beer and had to ask another bartender for it. Â Two waitresses scavenged from my condiments taking the salt and ketchup. Â Buy more condiments - holy smokes. Â Buffalo rock shrimp mushy from being coated in an off the shelf hot sauce which was terrible. Â Chef; I recommend this come of the menu immediately. Â Step it up. Â The last thing you want is the restaurants losing business and getting empty for bad food and bad service.
Review Source:Cube features local bands on Wednesdays. Â I haven't been there on a weekend because I refuse to pay a cover charge on the weekends - it's not Vegas. Â Beers are reasonably priced but I swear they were a little cheaper when the first opened up. Â They have a few TVs by the bar to catch some sports if you're not into the live entertainment. Â You get a good/random mix of people in there at times which is cool because I like to people watch. Â It's a great place to chill if you're not into gambling
Review Source:So, I am giving this place 3.5 stars in reality but it would get 5 stars for hilarity. I could not in good conscious recommend that my friends and the public go to Cube. However, with the right group of people--with the right sense of humor--you would get laughs for a lifetime which would actually be fun. In fact, it could be 5-Star fun from that angle.
The last call is at 3:30 am and a friend and I ended up here, Â for kicks and giggles, after a night of music and dinner in the city. And giggle we did!!! At 2:30 am you will lyao and lol.
This is the place where the three R's-- randomness, race relations and (w)rongness collide. After watching this skinny Indian dude try and consider dancing with this Black chick channeling some kind of martial arts dancing, Black dudes picking up all kinds of cray cray White women in candy apple red bustiers in January and straight out Mexican dudes wearing ten gallon hats and cow boy boots, with the DJing going from top 10 hip hop to Mexican polka music--we had to roll out.
It was good. I can't lie. I would go back. It was the type of place where if you somehow end up there late night/early morning (and happen to be drunk--like you have to have a decent buzz for this) you will wonder what island your plane crashed on and you will laugh!!!!! I laughed till I literally started crying on the dance floor.
Cube was fun, when my boyfriend and I got there the music was ok, but the drinks were pricey, strong, but pricey for a casino, in my opinion. The later the night got the better the music got, but then I realized it was different dj. The people are so nice, strangers men and women kept buying me drinks, so I was pretty nice, by the end of the night. Thanks guys.
Review Source:The definition of a cube is "a regular solid having six congruent square faces". Â After having dinner at the Cube, here are the SIX SOLID FACETS that will be the highlight of your experience.
Face 1- Location. Â With various dining options within the casino itself, this particular establishment offers a hodge podge of options, away from the casino floor, but close enough if you still want your try at Lady Luck after good eats. Â Tucked away in the far corner, you won't be able to hear the commotion of the slot machine sound effects or the shrieks from the roulette table.
Face 2- Food and drinks.  Their upscale bar food has enough options to please any palette, including vegetarian options.  We feasted on the fry trio, the trifecta of fried shoestrings served up in the flavors of truffle, cheese covered, and rosemary and pepper seasoned.  Doing it up and doing it big!  They also have flights of mini-sliders including turkey, crab cake and beef burgers, also served in trios. Have all 3 of the same slider, or mix and match folks! We had the crab cakes (a little too bready), turkey burger (delish) and the beef burger (a tad on the salty side). But the winners on the menu are the buffalo wings and the shrimp poppers.  The buffalo wings have a nice heat to them without being five alarm.  What really impressed us was that instead of the traditional celery sticks that are so often tossed on the plate as a "filler", the Cube serves them as  *long celery shavings*.  Ahhhh, it's the simple and small touches that elevate a dish.  It doesn't have to be fois gras or cavier to make it spectacular.  The shrimp poppers were breaded magnificently without being battered too heavily.  My guess is that chef uses panko bread crumbs. During the weekdays Mon-Fri, the dining menu is half off from 4-8 pm.  A nice option, so you can save your pennies for the slots.  My only disappointment is the bar has no dessert option.  Drinks prices were reasonable, and score, they serve my favorite capirinha. Â
Face 3- Sports. For you sports junkies, Cube has multiple screens including a ceiling high screen at the front by the stage. Â For someone who's a fantasy football player like me, I love going to sports bars on game days to keep up with all my players instead of channel changing at home. Yep, I'm that chic who's managing 2 teams, and I need to constantly look at how my guys are doing. On Sundays, they offer a game day menu with quarter inferno wings and drinks specials. Â
Face 4- Ambience  Not one, but TWO bars in this spot.  One large bar when you first enter, and one in the corner down the steps.  Highboy tables are scatted throughout the dining room area, including a handful of highboy tables around the dance floor to enjoy your food and watch the game or enjoy some tunes from the various bands.  Off to right is a rather large outdoor patio area complete with lots of seating and its very own fireplace.  Great for the summer, but also, as I've been told has heating lamps.  A nice area to have a Yelp event (wink, ink).
Face 5- Customer service- Kirsten was our server, and she was both knowledgeable of the menu and her favorites. Â Nothing worse than a server who will just suggest something off the menu based on it being the highest price. Â Her suggestion, the shrimp poppers, were my favorite, and I made sure to let her know and thank her everytime she came by to take away dishes or ask us if we needed anything else. Â We also got a chance to speak with the Nightlife Manager, Ryan C, who gave us a briefing of what the club offers, the specials and the band rotation (more on that later). Â He walked us around the place and toured us thru the patio. Â As we were eating, the bf pointed out Ryan flying to the kitchen with several plates in hand. Â Again, that's the kind of stuff I love. I like seeing managers who are very involved, and not just stuffy micro-manager kinda guys who will dole out tasks that he would never do himself. Â Ones that will get their hands dirty and especially ones that staff will respect because he himself does what he expects from his employees. Â
Face 6- Entertainment  Tues thru Friday Cube offers live entertainment with both a rotation of bands and dj's.  The cover band that we saw that night, Maggie Speaks, was fantastic, performing current pop hits as well as favorite 80's and 90's.  You could tell the female lead singer was an awesome performer, not just belting out her tunes, but making everyone hyped up with her dancing.  On Tuesdays, the 70's cover band, Afrodisiacs perform and even get dressed up to go along with their theme music.  I asked about a salsa night, and this is something they're looking into based on the requests they have received.
So to sum up Cube, YES this place is solid. Â It lives up to its name of being worthy on all levels. Come visit Cube and tell Ryan C I sent you.
