D'absolute Catering

I need to confess - at first I was indifferent with our food vendor and what type of food that was going to be served at our wedding because I wanted to save money with our caterer. What a fool I am! The food and alcohol can make or break your entire wedding experience. My wife and I started off tasting at various vendors in Chicago and the suburbs. And we were only partially satisfied with food, menu, and price options (at the beginning). That all changed when we had our food tasting at D'Ab. Chris's food tasting was the highest quality food of any other food vendor we visited. I thought for sure pricing would be through the roof for such high quality and delicious food. I was mistaken when he gave me his estimate and it was significantly less than all the other vendors. AND we had more menu items and food options.

Chris and his wife have it down to a science. They have been in the industry for such a long period of time and know how to do it the right way. And they tailor their service to your needs. D'Ab is a full service caterer that provides food, plate ware, glasses, linens, staff, cooks, bartenders and bar service, and different dining options such as pass service, plated dinners, food stations, and buffets. That's about 4 vendors wrapped up into one full service company. Chris was one of the only vendors who would NOT charge us for bringing our own deserts or cake cutting. Our guests were raving at how great the food was and the beef tenderloin is magic; you truly cannot go wrong with the food options as they are endless and all taste magnificent. I also went with a late night food option through Chris and it was a HUGE hit to sober up everyone at the end of the night. The custom signature drinks were a winner too! The last win/win relates to how dialed-in and involved Chris is in your wedding planning. He makes things so simple by taking the lead role to coordinate the timeline for the day and working closely with all the vendors. We were able to skip on hiring a wedding planner since Chris coordinated almost everything on our behalf.

You honestly owe it to yourself to take 1 hour to do a tasting and meet with Chris. He will seriously blow your mind and your mouth will drop when you see how his pricing will beat the other big corporate vendors. I rate the service and experience with 5 stars. I highly recommend Chris to ANYONE who is looking to work with one of the most professional and best people in the business. Thanks D'Ab and keep up the great work!

D'Absolute catered our wedding on Sept 14 at the Newberry Library.  He did a spectacular job, from start to finish.  Having been to many weddings where the food has been lackluster, we were so pleasantly surprised that our guests were all raving about both the filet mignon and the salmon dish that Chris designed for us.  I have never seen so many empty plates at a wedding!  I also heard the appetizers were a hit, although I was unfortunately too busy to try most of them.  His prices were extremely competitive and I really liked how his packages included linens, setup, etc.  I didn't have to worry about hidden costs.  He also encouraged us to buy our own alcohol, which he served for us.  I worked with him (and Jeff from Binny's) to come up with a list of alcohol to order, and Binny's delivered it right to Chris on the day of our wedding so there was nothing I needed to worry about.  Also, we did not have wedding planners or event coordinators and fully relied on Chris and his wife Natalie to manage the event set-up and break-down.  He did a spectacular job.  Everything was perfect and I was so happy with the end result.  I highly recommend D'Absolute!

Chris from D'absolute is a must-hire for your wedding or special event!  He was a recommended caterer for my wedding venue, and at first I wasn't so keen on being told who to hire.  But after emailing with Chris and deciding on a menu for a tasting, and then actually meeting him in his space, I knew it was the right choice.  The food was delicious, particularly the appetizers (on the day of, everyone RAVED about them).  But beyond the food, Chris and his team just take care of all the little details that you don't even think about!  We ended up renting or bringing our own linens, but they are the ones to set it all up.  Natalie was amazing with helping my mom to set up the place cards at every seat.  We wanted to tie a little ribbon around the mason jars Chris provided for our signature cocktail, so he made sure we got them a few days before the wedding to do so.  Also at the end of the night, they were the ones who really cleaned up, boxed up all the decor, etc.  It's just so important to get a good caterer to keep the party moving smoothly so that the bridal party doesn't have to worry about a thing.  And the last comment I have is just that Chris is SO reasonably priced!!  I mean, I did get a quote from one other caterer and I can safely say it would have been double what D'absolute charged.  One great contributing factor is that Chris lets you get your own liquor, but he also helps you by recommending how much to purchase (and he is not an upseller, not at all), and also getting you into contact with the special events manager at Binny's.  All in all, we were so happy with D'absolute Catering, and would definitely recommend Chris to anyone for their event!
