Stopped here for dinner for a night while staying in Hilton Head. Â Lucky for us-it was Tuesday and the tapas and desserts were bogo free! Â We started off with some wine flights which were served in this very interesting tree looking thing. Â Next we went with the soup trio. Â We also ordered gyro sliders, tuna tartar lettuce wraps, and the red curry kabobs. Â For dessert the trio of creme brulee. Â Having a tough time givng this place 3 or 4 stars.
Soup-4 stars-great flavors-a tad watery
Wine-5 for presenation. Â
Gyro slides-5 stars all the way. Â also came with fries which were hot and cripsy.
tuna tartar-Fantastic but spicey. Â Â Would eat over and over again. Â 5 stars.
It goes down hill with the kabos-they were way over cooked. Â well well done-not good for 2 people that eat rare. Â And i tasted no flavor. Â They get a 1. Â
also the creme brulee gets a 1.  We were supposed to get a choclate, a banana and a rasberry.  Came out with 2 banana and a chocolate.  the texture of the chocolate was all sugary granules.  It  was like eating brownie mix uncooked. Â
the banana was like soup. Â There was no carmalized sugar on top of any. Â it was like they didnt have time to set. Â Since it was the free one we just ate it.
Waitress was very nice and pleasent but everything took a long time. Â Good thing we were not in a hurry. Â Â
would go again if in the area due to more things on the menu.
overall will give a 3 but should be a 3.5.
Mediocre at best. The presentation of the food was interesting but we could have done without the cutting boards they use as plates. The idea is unique, but they look old and dirty kinda gross actually. There was eleven of us and two of the men in our party are 6'4 and they did not fit in this very uncomfortable U shaped booth they sat us in.
The place was empty and the service was very slow and inconsistent. I hate to say it, but there was a hair in my daughter's Grouper platter Yuk!! When she brought it to the attention of the server, all she had to say was "I'm sorry but the chef is bald so I don't know where it came from" . Wow, how rude. They did take her plate off our bill, but they proceeded to charge us 20% Â which we would have never done. I need to mention that their napkins smelled really greasy and dirty and gross. They need to replace their utensils. Just ugly and dirty looking. Never again. Not worth it with all the choices you have.
What happened to Daniels?? Â This was my third time back and the food was mediocre at best. Â If Daniels has fallen into the trap of offering sub par alternatives to their off season fare, then they have sadly lost my business as an islander. Â Too bad, Islanders are what will keep you alive in the off season. Â As a closing note, next time you serve your signature lamb kabobs, cook the darn meat so others won't get sick. Â Take my advice and skip this restaurant. Â With a gazillion other places to eat and spend your precious vacation dollar, don't waste your money here.
Review Source:Stayed two nights in Hilton Head recently. Went to Daniel's the first night, and it was so terrific that we came back the next night! That's right -- a two-night stay, and it was Daniel's all the way, both times. The flavors are amazing, the variety is almost ridiculous, and their Espresso SINsation martini is to die for!!! We will definitely be back. The service is unparalleled and the ambiance is perfect.
Review Source:This restaurant is good. They have a very eclectic menu but all the things we had were very good! We had the chicken and waffles which were great, the beef sliders which were my favorite of the night, and the Pad Thai which was pretty good but had a little too much going on but still good. Would definitely go back again!!
Review Source:We have been going to Daniels for around 3 years .We are tourists who stay a month and have found good value and decent food in the past .A few days ago we came early hoping to take advantage of their happy hour and early dining specials .We were informed that we would have to sit at the bar or outside on a high stool .Being seniors and my wife having a bad knee could not get up or down on a high stool .The employee obviosly couldn't think for herself told us it was mandatory although the restaurant was empty .Now I wouldn't have made an issue about it had I not sat at a booth previous years .It seems Daniels would prefer to see a customer walk than bend a little .So now instead of us eating and drinking 4 or 5 times they get 0 business from us .Isn't the reason we have handicap parking spaces ,handicap ramps for senior who can't jump up and down from high stools ,obviously Daniels doesn't understand that.Daniels you ought to be ashamed of yourself for not having any concern for older people .I will never attempt to eat here ever ,and I warn seniors if you want to go here ,skip it there many nicer places on Hilton Head that are not as mean as Daniels.
Review Source:A great change of pace from other HH restaurants. Â What a hidden gem. Very hip vibe inside. Â Dark, candles, colored lighting, jazzy downtempo music. Â Great food. Â And our service (Toni) was outstanding.
Not a place for kids (thankfully!). Â Dress like an adult, go with an appetite, ask for indoor seating, and explore a menu full of variety.
First, I must take a moment to comment on the amazing wood work that fills the decor of the restaurant. Everything you see appears hand made with dark and light woods curving and intersecting one another. This is a massive labour of love!
The menu is unique and impressive for a small tourist island. It is sectioned off into different regions of the world and pays tribute to a plethora of international cuisines. If you can't find something to eat here, you may be impossible to please.
I ordered the lamb kabobs served on skewered cinnamon sticks, very rich and flavorful. I have also ordered the calamari which was less flavorful yet not generic.
Sadly, the wait staff is comprised of trendy 20-year olds who lack experience in giving proper attention to their clientele. At times they appear to be bothered by their guests. This is an area where improvement is needed. Â
As it gets later into the evening, the restaurant transforms into a nightclub with loud DJ, dark lights and bass-heavy music. This gives the restaurant an identity crisis. I would prefer if they instead chose to concentrate on one thing instead of being viewed as half engaged in their mission.
We just spent 5 days on Hilton Head Island, and dinner at Daniel's was by far the best meal we have had here! The food is absolutely delectable! All the dishes we tried were interesting, non-generic, fresh, and flavorful. Daniel's is a tapas restaurant, but the tapas are rather large, and they come from all over the world. They have an American, a Mediterranean, and an Asian section of the menu. We tried the fish tacos (very delicious, with fish very tender and perfectly cooked), the spicy and sweet shrimp and scallops (flavorful and juicy), rare tuna lettuce wraps (an absolute must, so sophisticated, with a perfect balance of ingredients) and cinnamon lamb kebabs (ground lamb kebabs cooked on actual cinnamon sticks, very original presentation and great taste). The server was very cute and friendly, and the design of the restaurant is that of a modern upscale bar/lounge. We took advantage of the Tuesday "buy one get one free" deal, and got our 4 tapas for the price of two. They do not advertise this deal, so don't be shy and just mention it. Disadvantages: quite pricy (even with the Tuesday deal), the salad we had was very droopy and generic, and the "included gratituity" was about 25%. But all this is nothing compared to the superb (and totally unexpected on this touristy island) quality and freshness of the food.
Review Source:We went on Tuesday (2 for Tuesday tapas selection) as a party of 6. When we learned it was buy one get one, we went insane and ordered a ton of items, sharing them family style.
We started with the Baked Goat Cheese Sofrito and the Hummus - both were amazing. We had the Southwestern Shrimp Pizzetta, Popcorn Chicken, Brazilian Seared Gaucho Filet, Fire Roasted Sweet Corn and Potato Chowder, Angry Shrimp and Lobster Fried Rice, Hibachi Seared Filet Mignon, House Gnocchi, Bacon Wrapped Medjool Dates, Daniel's Signature Cinnamon Lamb Kabobs, and Seared Sea Scallop Lettuce Wraps as our tapas selections. Sure it was a lot of food, but there were 6 of us and we managed to clean every plate that came out. It was all delicious!
You might assume there would be no room left for dessert, but we powered through - trying the Creme Brulee Flight and a shredded Phyllo concoction - the name of which I cannot recall, sadly. These items were also fantastic.
The service was very friendly and quite prompt. We had a wonderful time and will return when next we have the opportunity.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Bad. Bad. Bad. We were seriously disappointed in Daniels. We had their food at a car show and loved it. The food was great with tons of inventive tastes and awesome presentation. We go to the restaurant expecting a similar experince and wtf? Sunflower seeds in a salad that was made days ago were rancid. A slow cooked lamb shank was microwaved before being brought to the table. It piping hot on one side and stone cold on the other. The " make it right" dish was a fried calamari pile that had been cooked 30 minutes before. Really, really bad. The space is gorgeous. The service was as good as can be expected given the poor performance of the kitchen. We left the "we are sorry" gift card for the chambermaid. Won't be fooled again.
Review Source:Yes. This is an amazing place. I hesitate to do this to my parents who live here in HH and come here like once a week (2 fer on Tuesdays). The atmousphere here is new age (even the music) dark and dreamy. The food is delicious. We had one of everything. Greek salad had these amazing red peppers, scallop salad was an explosion of flavor chicken pesto sliders - wow. Bruchetta - drenched in flavor.
Round 2 shrimp and calamari yum, cinnamon lamb kabob was delicious and interesting. Tuna sashimi to finish. Nice glass of Zin. You must do this.
A super high-end place with the exotic flair of a metropolitan restaurant. The Sweet and Spicy Calamari & Shrimp were amazing but didn't stand out among all of the delicious small plates. The only drawback (just for us) was the kinda clubby atmosphere and outdoor seating area competing for the 100 square ft with 3 restaurants.
Review Source:The food was very good and friendly service. I just have one problem, they automatically charge a gratuity no matter the size of the party. When I saw that on my receipt after the good meal, it just really made my attitude about this place change. I would have tipped better than the automatic 18% they charged, but not after it was added without being told about it. I think if this is something a restaurant is going to do, all servers should be required to tell customers when they receive the check.
Also, I asked the hostess while leaving why this was done and she said it was because so many tourists eat there and don't tip. Sorry to say this, but that's the nature of the restaurant business. Not everyone is going to tip.
Outstanding food, service an ambiance. Â Everything is served in tapas form. Â We had Chicken Sliders, Hibachi Filet (beef) and Stuffed Peppers (very spicy and it will make your palate dance!). Â All were good, but the Filet was AMAZING.
Looking forward to coming back to Daniel's before we head back to the Rocky Mountains.
Were going to head to Anglers next door but decided on Daniels based on yelp reviews. So glad we did, the lunch was delicious and filling. I had their marketfresh fish sandwich, blackened, and it was flavorful, moist, and amazing. My boyfriend had the mushroom truffle sandwich and it was awesome.
Review Source:Went to Daniel's today for lunch while visiting Coligny Plaza. They have a very interesting and different menu and had many things I wanted to try. I decided on the scallop salad and my husband had the Greek salad. The scallop salad was to die for! Perfectly caramelized scallops on abed of mixed greens with mandarin oranges, avocados, papayas and a citrus vinaigrette. My DH said that his Greek salad was also excellent. Both came with a fantastic ciabetta bread. Yummmmm. This place isn't big on beer though, the waiter wasn't even sure what kind they had so DH had to go look. He found something that suited his fancy though so it was all good. Would definitely recommend Daniel's and especially the scallop salad.
Review Source:No longer just an espresso bar. Â It is now actually called Daniel's Restaurant and Lounge... this may be my favorite restaurant anywhere. Â Apparenlty it just opened last week as a full service restaurant so right now it is a best kept secret on Hilton Head. I've been coming to HHI my whole life and this is easily my favorite reastaurant.
The food was insane. Â I'm from Chicago and we have our share of tapas places up there, but the tapas here are 10 times better and you get twice as much food. Â My girlfriend and I ordered more food than we could handle really but it was all so good that we sat there for 2 hours until we finished it. Â The Eastern Sampler was great along with the bruschetta and dates.
I'm normally a fast food, restaurant with burgers and BBQ type of guy so in my eyes the place is a little, what I would call, swanky. Â Which is pretty refreshing for the normal island restaurants. Â They even had a DJ playing the techno meets jazz bar music which was actually awesome. The waitress said the wood working took 7 months to make and it shows. Â I'm not usually one to notice the decor of a restaurant but it is incredible inside of there.
Since it's not a well known restaurant there was no line and there were even empty seats.
Drinks were great too. Â I think they have hooka as well.
I would definately recommend. Â I wouldn't take a large family especially with little kids, but there were strollers in there while we were there. Â Also, check the Island Packet for advertisements... since it's new as a full service restaurant they are advertising it strongly (we had 50% of the entire menu with mention of the ad).
Just another reason why I can't wait to come back to Hilton Head!
