I mean, it's good...but Michelin rated? The food is ok, nothing spectacular. I had the garlic shrimp. Tasty but not super fresh. My husband had the tampiquena. The steak was delicious, very tender and perfectly seasoned. That was probably the stand out. The mole on the enchilada was good, but I'll take real tenochtitlan in logan square any day. The service was friendly but lax and the decor left something to be desired. Hubby nailed it when he said it was like dining in someone's house. Good for casual dining, not Michelin.
Review Source:I mean this place can be a date night, a family get-together, a happy hour with friends it really is an excellent trendy relaxed place to go with delicious well presented Mexican Dishes. I just loved! It is officially my new fave Mexican Restaurant. Â
The Steak Burrito was amazing, I mean you don't really expect much from a "BURRITO" but this one delivered, I found  very refreshing the little hint of cucumber in the water just right enough thumbs up to this amazing twist but I have to say the frozen Mango Margarita was just perfect!!
I'm so pleased to have a traditionally delish trendy affordable Mexican Restaurant I can my make our family's fav a place; and  to introduce my non-Mexican friends to real Mexican traditional food (I just dislike those big chain Overly Price Restaurants with fake Mexican food  )
Thank you for that!!
Went with my girlfriend tonight for an early birthday dinner. Â The place is small with about 9 tables in a cramped space. Â (Luckily, now they have a liquor license, so you can wait at the bar and drink to your liver's content!) It was a Friday night so being in University Village, I figured there would be a wait. Â So we waited about 20 minutes for our table but not before it took 5 minutes for the hostess/waitress to get our names. Â Once we were seated, we sipped our water, nibbled on our chips and salsa, and read through the menu. (All of which were already waiting for us at the table) Â Then came the wait for the food. Â I had the most delicious fried potato taquitos. Â Garnished with a multicolor shredded vegetable mix of chayote, cabbage and carrots and topped with a tomato-citrus salsa that was thick enough that it didn't make the fried tortilla soggy until well into the mea..GGRRRROOOOWWWWLLLL.
....oh I'm sorry. Â I must have drifted off into la la land thinking about my previous visit to this fine establishment while I waited for my food for nearly 40 FRIGGIN MINUTES!!! Â This time I ordered the chicken flautas and my girlfriend ordered the potato taquitos (upon my constant urging for her to do so after my previous experience ordering them). Â So after nearly impatiently waiting for our food and letting the server know about the water that was served in a severely cracked and leaking glass, our food arrived. Â "MMMMM!!! Â Looks delish!" we thought to ourselves. My flautas were packed with lightly seasoned yet tender chicken. No burnt edges to be found. Â Topped with lettuce, diced tomato, sour cream and queso fresco, they were definitely delicious! Â It also came with frijoles pintos de la olla (stewed pinto beans), white rice and a cucumber salad served with cranberries, an apple slice and drizzled with some dressing. Â I was happy with my dish. Â My girlfriend had a different experience.
The taquitos de papa she ordered came with rice and beans as well.  They were topped with the same shredded veggie mix like last time, though I remember it looking a bit more colorful.  The killer was the tomato citrus salsa.  It was so watery that upon arrival, it had already began soaking the tacos and was just a puddle at the bottom of the plate.  I'm sorry, but eating fried potato tacos with a fork and knife because they fell apart upon being handled does not sound like a great way to be eating fried potato tacos.  That pretty much defeats the purpose of even frying them!
I would normally give this place a 4 but waiting that long for food that shouldn't take that long to make even on a busy night coupled with dishwashers that don't pay attention to cracked dishes, adding in soggy food that's meant to be crunchy turned me and my girlfriend off to this place for a while. I'll come back but we'll make sure to order something different and hope the experience is better the next time.
