i am really disappointed in this place.  i read the other reviews and thought wow, i must try this place.  we pulled up in the gas station parking lot to the red truck and the guy took our order.  it took about ten minutes to make, which is all good....but once home i was absolutely shocked that anyone on this site gave it such high ratings.  i am sorry but the baked beans truly tasted worse than out of a can and the macaroni was gross.  truly gross and everything is drenched in sauce to mask the taste.  oh well, i will never cheat on tom jenkins again.  tom's is the best.

Lots of hub-bub about this road side BBQ truck and it is well deserved attention.

We drove over to Deep Down South BBQ from the beach in Fort Lauderdale and found the same red trailer that everyone else describes, what I found appealing from the start was a lot of people waiting for BBQ and everyone in the place had a huge smile on his or her face.  Friendly patrons offered well received suggestions the likes of garlic crab.  Can't wait to return here for that one.

Little to say about parking or street appeal but if you are after awesome smoky BBQ then this is it!!!

I ordered the BBQ Rib plate and for $11.00 was turned on to about the best meal I have treated my self to in South Florida.  This is not the place for a romantic rendevous, but, you aren't gonna get better take out anywhere in the city.  The sides were awesome flavorful collard greens and the cheesiest home made mac and cheese I've had in a long time.  Home baked goodness is the best way to describe that one.

Finished off with one of the best bananna puddings I ever had in my mouth.  Thanks Deep South and keep the Deep South goodness coming.

I would have never stopped at this road side bbq joint unless someone I knew/trusted told me it was good.

I pulled up and the restaurant is a huge red trailer parked in a gas station on the NW corner of Sunrise Blvd and Nw 31 Ave. Everything is to go and there is no where to sit. I walked to the window and was greeted by the owner Al. He was very pleasant and I was very happy to find out that he is a Former United States Marine, like me. After some Devil Dog small talk he recommended that I try the Rib Sandwich. After I asked about the pulled pork and the fried shrimp I decided to get the Rib Sandwich with sides of coleslaw and Mac and cheese. In about 15 minutes he handed me my food and said, I placed some pulled pork and a couple fried shrimp for you to try. I couldn't thank him enough for doing a solid like that to a complete stranger. Good Karma folks:)

I took my food back to the office and opened the two containers and said...WOW, this looks and smells good. The sauce came on the side and I drowned the ribs and the pulled pork with the sauce. Man this stuff was freakin good. The ribs were falling off the bone and the pulled pork was nice and moist. The bbq sauce was perfect, not to hot not to mild. The mac and cheese was homemade and tasted like he baked it. The coleslaw was sweet and tasty.

Overall this place, in my opinion, is one of the top 5 BBQ joints in Broward. Not to scare anyone, but this joint is not located in one of the best areas in Broward , but it's worth a try. Remember to tell Big Al, Semper Fi and Stay Hungry!
