Thought I'd found a place CLOSER than their Alpharetta location to take friends for drinks and cigars... well, no.
They don't allow cigars in the bar.  And only on the patio if there are no kids?  What, I start smoking and they tell me to put it out because some fool brought their rug-rats to a smoking bar??  fail.

Well, there is still Winstons and Locos and some others in Woodstock..

I used to go to the Derby on Nesbit Ferry all the time and was surprised to find this one in Roswell yesterday.  Yes, The Derby is a smoking bar, all of them are.  But the food is still great, the people working there are great.  It's a chill bar with great food.  I don't mind the smoke even though I'm a non smoker now for 2 years.  I'm used to it.  I'll be back again soon!

This is basically a smoker's bar not a restaurant.  Didn't know we had such smoker places anymore in Georgia.  Not knowing, my wife and I entered the doors and were instantly overwhelmed by the smoke.  They didn't even have a good ventilation system.  We immediately turned around and left.  If you want to keep your lungs healthy, stay away from this smoker's delight.

I have not been the biggest fan of the Derby, but then they opened this location.  I like it.  Friendly staff and decent food.  They have tons of specials; like Monday is a wing special, Wednesday is a shrimp special, and there is another on Friday, I just went brain dead....The Derby allows smoking inside and out, one of the now very few places that does.  So, no one under 18 is allowed in.

They also do poker on Mondays and Bingo on Wednesdays.  They have Golden Tee 2011, A pool table, and Shuffle Board towards the back.  They have plenty of big screens and 1 projector, suitable enough for their size.  There is a small patio up front, too.

This place is a chill bar.  Good to grab a drink and catch up with friends.
Don't let 3 stars seem unfair, it is still good in my eyes for the qualities it currently possesses.

In response to the 1 star review: Roswell requires bars to have a charge per style/type glass, including up-charges, such as a double, for spirits.  Rocks to you means ice, rocks to the restaurant means a type of glass.  So a drink on the rocks typically doesn't fill the glass and most places have a charge to add a little bit extra (because it looks silly not even half full), it also indicates what it is going in (a rocks glass).  I have seen 4 or 5 other places have a "rocks double" charge.  It is a charge so when they do their Excise tax reporting, the numbers are correct for the sale and they pay the proper tax amount each month.  I know it sounds ridiculous, but they just can't pour alcohol without indicating what it is getting poured into.  I.E - a tall glass saying "double" would be wrong, it needs to say "tall double".  Each glass size is only allowed to have so much alcohol in it.  I hope this sheds some light, this topic really ticks off folks, I just hope there is better understanding now.

Your typical sports bar, not a lot of ambiance but a ton of TV, and the drinks are standard in price and  variety.  There's a pool table and shuffle board in the back.  I was there for a birthday party.  We filled up half the restaurant and the two bar keepers, even though they really tried, had a hard time keeping up.  It's a good thing they only had a couple of regular customers.  They knew we had a side show and a musician coming.  They had a projector on the ceiling, but no cord that would connect to the computer, so we had to buy our own.  The musician showed up and was told to help himself to the pile of equipment on the stage, but there was no mic.  So he couldn't play.  They've been open a few months and I'm not sure if it was them or us, but I wish things were a little better prepared.
