I got the fish and chips- after waiting an incredible long time- and it was ridiculously greasy. Yes I am aware it is deep fried, but this was just overly greasy that it made me sick. The server was good and nice but the food was awful. Our drinks took a very long time to come out as well. Very disappointed.
Review Source:Expectations are everything with dining/drinking experiences. If you go to Diamonds looking for the food to be off the charts, you'll be disappointed. I suggest people temper their expectations when it comes to establishments like this.
Having said that, the service was mediocre. We went there twice and the server at night was much better than the waitress during the day. The beer selection is pretty limited but was satisfied with their wells. As far as their food goes, I had a chicken burrito with enchilada sauce and it was surprisingly good. Presentation was above par for an ice house. We went there hoping to watch the NBA playoffs but were disappointed to find that the TV's were rather small and there's only one or two on the patio.
Not a terrible place if you're looking for daily specials but as I said earlier, temper your expectations.
Husband had the Prime rib sandwich - expected shaved prime rib since it was a sandwich, but got prime rib steak instead. Seriously overcooked and salty...without the au jus...would have been flavorless other than the salt.
Bartender was our server with a full bar and 4-5 tables. Will probably only come back here when live bands are playing - and definitely not for the food.
What an embarrassment to Maui. This place sucks. Horrible food and horrible, uptight service. Two hours after eating their nachos I was throwing up. Uh yeah thanks guys. The server said the nachos were so huge they could feed 2-3, but when he brought them out they were sparse. There was a very annoying patron playing pool who kept bugging me to play. Brah, I'm effing eating. Get the hell away from my table. You'll enjoy this dump if you like terrible food, terrible service, terrible atmosphere, and terrible company. Don't waste your time.
Review Source:Atmosphere:
Located in Azeka Place strip mall. Â Outdoor seating available with a view of South Kihei Road. Â Small & cozy interior with a game table (have no idea what it is but reminded me of olympic curling.) Â Felt like a country bar on the inside with the decor. Â Was looking for the ice bar which is non-existent. Â ;)
Met some friends for late night drinks. Â Didn't have any food but the menu is very extensive (burgers, pasta, Mexican) and the food looked good. Â There was a live band playing on this particular Friday night. Â Not sure if there was a cover charge as we got there way earlier.
Service:
Took a short while to be greeted at our open-seating table at around 9pm (slow) but had great service after that.
Overall:
Nice place to meet for drinks & apps. Â Not sure how they came up with the business name. Â It's hardly sparkly & icy.
This local dive bar has some excellent music - live bands and DJs which is why I've selected 3 stars. Â The food is actually pretty good for bar food. Â And they have great drink specials. Â Make no mistake, the typical crowd is a bit "biker bar." Â But, they have fun and it's not like there's fights or anything. Â BONUS TIP - you can rent out the top floor for private parties for the best rates in Kihei!
