    Great music and cheap drink specials. Me and my buddies went here last Saturday and had a great time. We started off at Diesel only thinking we were going to happy hour but we stayed the entire night. The staff is fun and the crowd is definitely good looking. I plan on going back to Diesel Lounge soon.

    This place is actually really chill. While not a top contender, it really isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. Plus, I overheard that some new promotions are coming very soon to spice it up. Looking forward to seeing what they have lined up.

    Longing for the good ol' days when Diesel Lounge was Cafe Diesel- yes, that was so long ago! but every time I drive by this place I wax nostalgic.
    This is a meat head bar. Loud, with no seating, you'll be forced to stand in a corner with a terribly poured drink in hand, wondering where it all went wrong. Going here and observing makes for a great social studies project.

    R.I.P Cafe Diesel- you are still in our hearts

    I am old and tired. I go to bars about once every 100 years or so. I can't drink more than about half a cocktail or glass of wine without feeling ill. Therefore, take my review with a grain of salt, because I'm not really sure what constitutes a good bar. However, I do think I should be able to sit down and get a decent drink. Unfortunately, neither of those things happened at Diesel. It is unbearably small and my drink tasted like, well, ass, quite frankly.

    Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to go out. Hell, my 23 birthday was a bar crawl starting on State Street and heading at BAR. However, Diesel is one of those places I can not stand. It's teeny and impossible to move around. I agree with Jon that the bartenders don't know what they are doing unless you specifically tell them how to make your drink (helllo chocolate cake shots!). Also, every time I have come here, I tend to get stalked by the strangest freakin' guys. That won't leave me alone. It's a shame, because I do love almost every where else on State...and this place is smack dab in the middle.

    Owned by the people who owned the now defunct Neat Lounge (where Black Bear is currently), Diesel is pretty much one of the crappiest places in New Haven.

    Let's see... short list or long? Well I'll just keep going until I stop...

    * The drink specials used to be decent. Now they're almost non-existent.
    * The bar is so tight and small, unless you happen to get a seat somewhere, it's really uncomfortable, unless you enjoy getting bumped into every 5 seconds.
    * The music goes from 80's to Trip Hop to 90's Alternative to House to Top 40... I mean, variety is nice and all, but it doesn't allow for any kind of vibe to permeate. One minute you're content, the next you're pissed off.
    * No food.
    * Everyone who comes here tries too hard to look good.
    * The female bartenders have NO CLUE what they're doing. If you ask for anything more complicated than Stoli Raz and soda, they are deer in headlights. Look, honey, I don't care how big your tits are. Just make me a drink.
    * There's definitely a bit of pretentiousness in the air here.

    There are a couple positives. If you go during the week when it's not too crowded, it's not bad. You can hang out and talk and have a decent enough time. Also, it's close to my house, which is a positive for me. So I can walk there. And... um... that's pretty much it.
