Loved the thin crust sausage pizza - not greasy, just tasty.  Chuck the owner really puts for to make sure you have quality fresh food!  Personally I don't like fried foods, but my friends do and he had plenty of munchies for those who love that.  Good "Sports Bar".  BATHROOMS ARE SPOTLESS - which is not typical for a sports bar and the prices are good!  Great for large crowds and birthday parties!

Any bar with dirty in its title should be gone to with caution. This is a heavy White Sox bar and from outside just looks like any other bar that is unattached. There is a large section in the back. Not too much on tap and this is not a brewery. The choices are slim on the beer to drink. The place is a unique looking bar and not as dirty as I expected. A very youthful crowd keeps the parking lot full many times at this place I have noticed in my travels. they must be doing something right.

I ordered a burger from this joint and on the menu it says comes with soup and coleslaw. The soup choices I didn't like so I ordered the beef noodle and gave it to my dog. The waitress sounded rushed and annoyed. I got my food and they charged me for the soup! I told them the menu said that it was free and where is my coleslaw?! They said they were sorry that the soup doesn't come with the burger anymore and they were out of coleslaw. Next time I order I can get an extra side of coleslaw. Well I can assure you there will NEVER be a next time!

The Dirty Sox wasn't what I expected it to be.  From the outside it appears to be a classic sports bar, when you go inside you get a dive bar with a typical Chicago South Side flavor.

Dirty sock is divided into three sections, a small bar, a large bar with pool tables and a party area in back with more pool tables.  Kitschky plastic baseball helmets from the seventies are hanging from the ceiling.  Stereotypical female bartender wearing referee's shirt and shorts, showing plenty of cleavage, too much makeup and a slightly bored expression on her face.

Draft and bottled beer selection is rather limitied.  Mostly Bud and Miller products.  Food is geared toward Man vs Food enthusiasts.   They got a couple of monster burgers on the menu including the Heart Attack.  A pound and a half of ground beef topped with cheese and two grilled cheese sandwiches.

Strong point to Dirty Sock is the patrons seem to know each other very well and were pretty friendly.  Bored looking bartender keeps up the ambiance by throwing around wooden nickles good for a free drink.

Yes, I tipped a few back at this place.  This is a neighborhood sports bar/dive bar.....call it what you want.  The people are friendly, plenty of TV's, food is ok....it's bar food people.  You drink, you get hungry, they have food.  Eat it!  Drinks are very reasonable.

This is White Sox territory.  Also Hawks and Bears.  You may see an occasional sports celebrity.  This is a casual, fun place. Come as your are and relax.

Originally I really liked dirty sock. Like other people have mentioned, it's a white sox themed bar with beer towers that are cheaper than ordering lots of bottles of beer.

We've had a few birthday parties here including one for my boyfriend. It was a good night and our friends filled the bar and took it over. Owner passed around free apple pie shots which was nice.

This also became a great place to watch the Blackhawks games. In the 2009 playoffs, they had sirens and sold signed merchandise and put the game on a big projection screen with the sound on (which I prefer).

The reason I am only giving Dirty Sock one star is because of the attitude of the owner. During the 2010 playoffs, we went to watch one of the games against Philly here and the owner would occasionally pick up the mic and add his own commentary to the game.

My problem with that, he was using homophobic and hateful words like faggot and other things I don't find acceptable. I immediately went to yell at the owner and tell him off, but my friends stopped me. They passed around free shots when the Hawks won but this place has forever lost my business as I dislike homophobic attitudes displayed so proudly.

This place is so cool for White Sox fans!!  Its so much fun.  I went here last year to watch White Sox playoff game and it was fun.  They have those huge glass of beer.  Its not even a glass its this big thing and then has the nozzle at the bottom where you pour it out.  the beer tower thats what its called.  Lots of Tv's.  Nice staff too and it doesn't take long for service.  Never tried their food but this was a cool place to go to.

Alot of my friends like this bar. Im not a huge fan.

    -the good
I love the Skill crab, havent won yet but its still amazing
    Bathrooms are clean
    Good internet jukebox
Beer towers are a good idea

    -Now for the bad
    Service seems bad
    The Cops are ALWAYS around.
The beer towers are overpriced but probally still the best choice since the service is slowwwwwww. Its a pretty busy place but they seem to have more barbacks then bartenders.
they do last call at like 1am on Fridays more often then not

It's a White Sox themed bar - the names and numbers of all the players from the '05 World Series team painted on the walls, season tickets hanging from the ceiling...it doesn't get any better unless you're in Bridgeport or Beverly.

A pretty big place, 2am bar, juke box, Golden Tee, Bags, all that good stuff. Ok selection of beer, but I'm spoiled by Map Room and places like that. They have the standards - Lite, Bud, Blue Moon, Harp, etc. No Harp or Guinness on tap though. Of course, they don't try to be an Irish pub. They are trying to attract a younger crowd with those tabletop kegs or whatever they call em (the giant tube full of beer) and the signature "fish bowl" - a drink something like a Long Island but blue, in you guessed it, a fish bowl. I didn't order this, but it's around $20 and I guess that's a good deal if it actually gets you drunk.

The crowd here is definitely younger, so if you like old man bars don't come here.

I caught a football play off game here a few weeks ago. The bar was crowded but there were a couple of seats left so we sat down & were served immediately. The bartender was great, friendly, funny & quick even though it was now packed. The kitchen wasn't opened yet, but they served chili at half time, good tasting but needed more spice. Crowd was local but cool. Shots & beer were on the house a few times, that always gets extra stars! I probably won't be a regular, but I'll definitely be back.

I had a chance to check out The Dirty Sock the other day.  This place not only makes you feel comfortable, it also has that "come one, come all" type of feel to it.

First, let me just rapid fire off some of things about the place that make a bar a bar.
Beer selection: very good and great prices
Juke Box: great songs and great sound system.
TV's: flat screen TV's everywhere on a variety of sporting events.
Bathrooms: you could literely eat off the floor in there, and I bet someone has.
Food: great Chicago style food (beef's, sausages, burgers, hot dogs, etc. and the prices were great.  Big portions.  Also, the cook came out and asked how everything was.
    Bartenders: exceptionally nice.

Overall, this place is great.  If your looking for a local neighborhood bar where you can belly-up and have some drinks, or want to throw some darts or play Golden-Tee, then I would recommend this place.

A new bar in the neighborhood, so of course the local barfly extraordinaire had to go and check it out.  New Years Day, and the place was jumping.  The building it's housed in had changed ownership numerous times, but this is the first time we almost had a hard time getting a parking space.  They have at least fifteen flat panel televisions here, all tuned to some kind of sporting event (hence the name sports bar), which was perfect for catching all the college football bowl game action.  They have a large selection of beer (including Blue Moon) and very well priced.  I'm not sure how much it costs, but they have this beer pitcher (for lack of a better term) that holds about a gallon of beer, and has a spigot on the bottom, and you pour your own.  A great idea for groups drinking the same beer.  Me- I just found it amusing that I could drink beer right from a spigot.  And even though the place was packed, the service was outstanding; the bartenders were friendly and quick, and the guy running empties and cleaning ash-trays, deserves five stars for himself alone.  He was busting ass, and that made for a very clean and enjoyable visit.  I will definitely be back.

Over the past few years this location has housed a couple of different businesses but it seemed like nothing seemed to make it here.  After checking this place out I think we have found a winner!

For being the second day open, they really have their act together!  The service was amazing even though I usually hold bars to a lower standard than a restaurant.  I received better service here than I do at most nice restaurants.

The place is a good size and laid out very nicely.  The place was really busy but it not get uncomfortable. Every seat has a clear view of a TV too.  Next time I will have to eat something here.

I have to add to my review as I have now tried many of the items off of their menu.  It really doesn't matter what you order you will get your money's worth and you will get filled up guaranteed.  My personal favorite is the 3/4 pound patty melt! They have a good selection of sandwiches and one of these days I will start trying some other stuff
