I want to start by saying this is a cool bar. I do want to put my 2 cents in though. We were there on Saturday early evening and were having an amazing time with 10 close friends playing ping pong. Then your bartender/ manager came out and totaly yelled and kick my friends and myself out for smoking. I can see the importance of this issue but there is not a visible no smoking sign present and since we were out side any ways. The way the bartender/ manager handled the situation was crazy. He yelled and told all of us to get out! I was closing my tab after this and he came up to me to appologize but that was too late. I will never step foot in this bar ever again!! Thanks John!! P.S We would have dropped 200 plus dollar. You suck!!
Review Source:I love this bar. I love that I can pile in a group of 10-20 and we can all split up and play games, the smokers can hang outside, the foodies can eat delicious and CHEAP tacos. The ceviche is amazing, which is a wild card item for a bar. Everyone is always entertained when we come to the Dive Inn.
Review Source:Cool concept, terrible staff and management. Â The "door staff" is extremely rude and condescending, everytime we come in the guy checking IDs has some snide remark about what we're wearing or something dumb like that. Â I get it, it's probably his attempt at humor, and sure the first time we may laugh, but a comment everytime really isn't necessary. Â It's definitely a buddy buddy place, where if you don't know the staff you won't get treated very nicely. Â It's really too bad that such a cool concept is ruined by the staff's ability to make you feel uncomfortable. Â When I tell people about my experiences here people are shocked, cannot believe it, so I thought I'd give it another go...same thing happened. Â For some reason I don't think 3rd time is a charm is going to work on this one...
Review Source:This place was amazing! I was in town from Dallas and this place was down the street from where I was earlier in the day and I tried it out. I had their green chili and the juevos rancheros and it was SO GOOD! Seriously I could taste how fresh the food was. The service was also outstanding! Food can always be great, but if the service is terrible then usually your perspective will change. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR DIVE INN! The service was incredible. Adam and Ashley were so awesome! They treated me as if I was the president and made conversation with me and everything. I even got a tour of the entire restaurant (which I think the ping pong tables are baller status as well as all the patios they have outside).
I will definitely be back when I'm in Denver again.
First off, one of my boys is a co-owner of this place and a hella good guy. Â Now that I've gotten that out of the way...I've been meaning to stop in here for close to a year now that I knew it was his joint, and I finally had the opportunity this weekend. Â It's a pretty cool, clean spot (not dive-y IMO, or maybe I'm just that big of a dirtball that I know what a true dive bar is) that has two patios a nice little bar area, a cut out of a boat, and a dining area as well as a back room and bar along with darts, ping pong, basketball hoop and cornhole setups in the back patio. Â I was famished after playing softball and working out, so I needed some food and their pork tacos were actually really good, much better than I expected for a bar. Â While the corn tortillas were small, they were overloaded with shredded pork, full of flavor, come with a slice of lime to add that citrus bite and loads of red onions. Â I dare you to try to eat one of these without the pork and onion gushing out because they're piled so high. Â Extra points for offering an Easter Egg Hunt for plastic eggs filled with chocolate goodies and potentially drink coupons. Â Extra, extra points for having pitchers with the little ice container thingies in the middle to keep your pitcher of beer cold in case you're drinking it solo. (and if you're drinking a pitcher solo, I have a phone number for you to call)
Review Source:A buddy told me about this place and I didn't believe him, but I feel like I am back in Florida. They got a low bar top when you walk in, a boat in the middle which you can rent out with a cooler full of beer and a bottle for a party (yes my birthday will be there) and they have plenty of games, pool, ping pong and corn-hole. I haven't had the food yet, but I definitely like the place. This will be a new spot for me.
Review Source:The "Dive" part says it all. Oh, and there's a freaking BOAT in the middle of this bar, which is actually kind of cool and works. I came here to watch the Broncos playoff game (which they lost so I'll probably never come back here because of their badluck mojo) with a group and it was decently packed. The bar service was quick though as it was pretty easy to get a beer.
If you like craft beer though, then stay away from the namesake "Dive Inn" lager, which I was told was brewed specially for the bar. Well, their special beer tastes like MGD, which is gross.
So why the 4 stars? Because the food is dirt cheap and MUCH better than your typical bar food. Cochinita pibil street tacos for $2?? Are you joking? That's awesome.
NOTE: You have to order food at the bar and then the kitchen calls out your name and on the other side of the bar where you can pick up your food. Not a terrible system as it cuts down on the wait staff, but the calling out of names every two minutes is a bit off-putting.
Fun bar, great food, attractive customers (ie. hot ladies). Â What's nto to like? Â They have TVs all over with sports. Â Great Mexican bar food. Â We had 3 tacos that was perfect. I cna't remember but I think I ordered one of each. Â Bartenders knew locals and frequent customers. Â Just a great all around place to hang out and/or get dinner.
Review Source:Great place to meet up or just waste the afternoon with friends. Â The place is big enough and filled with all the requisite bar games so you shouldn't get bored. Â I still think the boat in the middle of the front room is weird but people love it. Â I haven't tried the food yet but it seems like everyone always gets tacos. Â Good sign. Â I haven't had a problem getting drinks. Â Even better sign!
Review Source:How could you NOT love this place?
I mean really, what's not to like? Â Cheap, delicious tacos. Â Ping pong tables and corn-hole. Â Pretty large selection of booze. Â You can be indoors or outdoors and enjoy your beverage. Â Juke box where I can use my iPhone to pick and pay for songs.
Seriously, this place is legit and has such a chill vibe!
We visited The Dive Inn yesterday for the UGA/Alabama game. Â It is a UGA bar. Â It was a pretty fun place to watch a game. Â The place is loaded with big screen tvs, so you always have a view of the game. They also have a large patio area with cornhole and foosball. Â We found ourselves out there most of the time.
We decided to order some tacos to satisfy our drunk munchies. Â They were actually quite tasty. Â We ordered cochinita de pibil and carne asada. Â Both were delicious. Â So, I definitely recommend ordering some while you are there. Â
Overall, we had an awesome time. Â I will be back.
Haven't been to this bar yet, but I live on the other side of this block. Â Sounds like they have a great set up and the people who go there have a blast. Â Note I say, "sounds like"? Â That's because I can hear much of the back patio goings on clear as a bell at night from the yells, cheers, music and the PA system. Â I can't imagine that the City of Denver understood that they would have a bar scene outside on the back patio so close to long time residents. Â You know it's loud when the residents on the east side of South Lincoln Street can hear their music and noise clear as a bell from their back yards! Â Sucks to be those of us who live on South Lincoln Street, huh? Â Especially when you are trying to get small children to go to sleep.
Review Source:I love this bar.
Unfortunately I discovered in the last few months before I moved out of Denver, but whenever I return for a visit I will be sure to stop by. I'm a huge fan of the free pool, backyard space for bags, pingpong, hotshot, etc
The bar itself is a good-sized space with lots of room to move around - with indoor, semi-indoor, and outdoor options. But its not so big that you feel like you are the only person there.
One negative is the location, but the cheap (and well made) drinks compensate for it.
This place has great indoor and outdoor seating. Â The menu is limited, but get the tacos.
We did have a disagreement with the bartender on the amount of drinks we had and he took as personal affront. Â I never rate on service but, you will never see wait staff if you are not at the bar.
I came here for a reunion with some great old friends, the two that organized it picked this place. Â I arrived early and decided to have a bite to eat while I was waiting. Â The menu is small, boasting tacos and tostadas with chicken, pork or beef, as well as a shrimp dish. Â I tried a mix of tacos. Â and was very impressed with the pork and chicken, they both had amazing flavor and the meat was very tender. Â The beef, on the other hand, was incredibly bland and dry. Â They came with a side of very spicy tomatilla salsa which put a smile on my face and sweat on my brow.
A small but good beer list, IPA, wheat, import, and the standard domestic handles. Â The bar itself is laid out very well and makes great use of the space. Â There's essentially three rooms and small patio, and they even have parking. Â I like how the bar is sunken below the floor and street level.
The bartenders were really great. Â I was somewhat taken aback by the friendly attitude and just great service. Â They were on top of their game, nobody was waiting around thirsty, and everybody had a good time.
Because of the surprise I had when tasting the food and the great service, I'm giving them 5 stars. Â I would definitely come back here - cheers!
Ok, maybe I stopped in on an off night, to their credit. Â My experience was not pleasant here, but here's why:
Hipster doofuses that I made the mistake of talking to on the patio. Â I remember talking to one of them, and his friend interrupts me. Â I call her out on it, girl got maaaaad! Â She tells the bartender about this and says I had to leave. Â I never even had a chance to tell my side of the story. Â Just goes to show you what kind of clientele they primarily cater to and favor. Â To his credit, the bartender did supply me with a glass of ice water while I waited for my taxi. Â So at least he wasn't a total jerk.
On to the good. Â The concept is unique, very spacious, and it looks like a bar that caters to their neighborhood residents well. Â I do believe in second chances, so I can find myself coming back in the future, believe it of not. Â Just not anytime soon. Â And I'll be sure to steer clear of hipsters.
I came here the first time a week ago and fell in love with it. The place is huge. It's got a few pool tables, ping pong tables, and cornhole set up in the back. There are two patios, one indoor and one outdoor and a boat to drink on. Â I went two nights in a row on a Friday and a Saturday. I do have to admit that the right crowd will determine your love for a place. The first night there was an event going on and all the people were awesome. Drinks were cheap, and the conversation was great. The second night there was a d bag birthday going on and all that was shouted over a mic was come do shot skis. While it's fun for the party, it's off putting for the rest of the patrons there. The draft beer selection is OK and they have Avery IPA on tap. Their dive inn draft is pretty terrible though. What do you expect for the cheap house beer. I highly recommend the sweet tea vodka and lemonade for $3
Review Source:Totally worth leaving my neighborhood for! Â This new bar has everything it needs to be the perfect local hangout, except for the location. Â The energy is great, the drinks are cheap, the staff is awesome, and the games are fun (and mostly free)! I say open a second location in Cap Hill/Uptown!
Review Source:My new favorite hangout on South Broadway. Â You can't beat the $2 Dive Inn Draft and the $2 Tacos. Â I used to go to a place in Boston years ago where things were $3... LOL..
Anyways the bartenders are great they know your name, the food is great "BAR" food, and the beers are always cold! Â There are pool tables, ping pong, and always plenty to watch on TV. Â South Broadway needed a place like this.
DenverBarHopper say, "Muy Buentastico"
Alright...it's all relative here, and the place is called THE DIVE INN.
A new addition to the SOBO scene, with staying power!
Think Bar Games, TV, patios, garage doors, cool West Wash Park set...mid 20's to 40's...where the guy in the baseball hat can chill w/Martini Girl, IF SHE IS SO INCLINED...
A little history for the unawares...it's like Candlelight Tavern, with new car scent.
5 Hops, call the cab.
Not "Dive" as in dirty, "Dive" as in a boat turned into seating, scuba divers on the bathroom doors and fishing pics on the walls. Â I'm digging it. Â This is not my normal neighborhood but worth the trip down Broadway. Â I went during the week with no particular expectations but was impressed and will go back for the games.
It hasn't been open long, so there is still the rehabbed feeling to the bathrooms, bar stools etc. Â (and by that I mean way cleaner than your average dive bar). Â The inside feels like a dive (which I like, don't get me wrong), with a sunken bar and very little lighting. Â The back porches include ping pong tables, bags (I'm not calling it cornhole), and pool tables. Â
Given I went during the week but I'm going to guess the clientele leans toward 30s and up rather than the Lodo crowd (you know what I mean).
The Dive Inn is a fabulous place to hang out any night of the week. Â The best part of a bar like this is the games you can play... ping-pong, pool, corn-hole, etc. Â There is more than one "bar" to get a drink and plenty of patio room. Â Check out their website and scroll through the "boat" pictures, what a fun idea. Â Looks like I will be spending some quality time at the Dive Inn!
Review Source:You walk in and take notice of the way lower than normal bar top. You sit down on the exquisite tiny stools and start looking arou.... Oh goodness what is that!? could it be? No way. Yes it is! A boat... In the bar? there is a full boat which has had a table and seats put in! After a drink I walked around. They have ping pong tables.. Really good foosball tables.. Billiards... And good food! I do believe I found another excuse to head south!
Review Source:I went here the other night to grab my VOTR tshirt and hang out!
A pretty cool place! There's even a real boat inside to sit on.
There's also:
-pool tables
-ping pong tables
-cornhole
-huge tvs to catch your favorite sports on.
-the pitchers have the built in ice middles so your pitcher doesn't get warm, especially when you're outside on the patio!
One of the greatest bars.  They have something for everyone.  Sports on many screens.  Lots if seating in main bar.  Large outdoor patio lounge area.  For the active, they have pool, foosball, ping pong, bags, and an assortment of classic arcade games.  Plus, all of the staff  are great!
