Having worked in country clubs in the past I know what it's like to have a mix of regulars and visitors in your bar lounge so I can appreciate the vibe and ins and outs of an establishment like this.

The menu was A-okay and the service was fine too. We wandered in for lunch after the pool closed for a wedding. We were starving and needed a break from the sun. What I think is interesting about this location within the La Costa Resort is that it's a seriously under-rated sports bar... The drinks are not dive bar prices, you're paying a premium but they've got wide open spaces where you could push back from your table and scream at a false start with ease. Wave your arms around in the round and round motion when you think a baseball player should round the next base. You might even be able to watch the fight, I'm not sure on this but it'd be worth calling to investigate next time you and your peeps want an uncrowded upscale location to catch a popular sport.

I'd eat there again, Probably during a hockey game.

Honestly avoid this place at all costs! My $17 burger was an overcooked frozen patty and $4 diet coke tasted of beer. They didn't even both to clean my table which smelled like urine from all the beer that had been spilled that has never been properly wiped up. I understand the prices because it was a resort, but the food quality should match the prices. Try again La Costa.

Really disappointed. We drove all the way up here from North Park area. We came here to redeem a $50 gift certificate. We called ahead and were told they were open until midnight. We got there at 9:50pm and they told us the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes.

We placed our order quickly and it was evident the food was rushed out of the kitchen.

We ordered the King Salmon Tartare, Fried Calamari, French Onion Soup and Pork Sliders. The best thing was probably the french onion soup.

It was clear they had shut the fryer off because the calamari was soggy on the outside and overcooked on the inside. I had a few bites and threw more than 3/4 of the dish away.

The pork sliders were dry, frys were cold.

The salmon tartare was about average. Portion size was a little on the small side, but the ginger sauce was a good complement.

The resort itself is very nice. The lounge and fireplaces and ambiance are also upscale. Unfortunately the food offerings seemed very sub-par.

The second night I went back to try the other drinks. To my surprise, they remembered me. I tried the kiwi-lemon drop. It was pretty phenomenal. I also had the the soup of the day, tomato ginger. It was incredible! Glad I came back.

My neighbor Robin and I thought we would check out the happy hour happenings at the La Costa Diversions Lounge.  It's nicely located above the golf course right at lobby level.

There was hardly anyone there at 5.30 but all the TV screens were going full blast.  There are several in the bar, and a HUUUUGE screen in the adjacent seating area, as well as screens in the bar down by the pool.  Apparently on Super Bowl Sunday every seat in the place was taken, and there was standing room only.

We each had a glass of wine and we ordered from the regular menu because the happy hour menu didn't have the salad we wanted.  So two glasses of wine, 2 small spinach salads with goat cheese=  $55.  Not exactly happy hour prices, y'all.  Robin had the house cab so they took a couple of dollars off. But I ordered a label Pinot Noir and had to pay full price.

The bartender Filiberto was very nice and very attentive, but I don't think you'll be seeing us again Diversions. Geez for what we paid we could get a full meal at Bistro West, which has a wicked happy hour.

Yeah it's La Costa and it'll cost ya.
