Dublin Pub is the back up plan to my back up plan. Generally speaking, the food is nothing to write home about. Appetizers are standard fare. Horseshoes are so-so. Cheese sauce isn't great. Pizza tastes frozen. Really its only saving grace is that you can usually get in pretty quickly and it's open pretty late. And the half price Bloody Marys on Sundays. Sunday brunch is okay, but you aren't missing much. Service has always been spotty. Two stars is generous.

Sadly, my experience at Dublin Pub wasn't what I was hoping for. When my brother and I arrived to experience the Springfield culture of the horseshoe, we were greeted with slow and scattered service. I think there were a total of 3 people all trying to manage the hostess location, which seemed to just make things worse than if they just allowed one person to handle it. On top of that, I was told that the wait would only be 10-15 minutes, and 10 minutes later, I was still 5th in line on the list. Additionally, there were tables empty in the dining area, and it wasn't because there was a lack of staffing.

We eventually overheard that we could just sit at the bar, which wasn't given to us as an option when we first arrived, and so we just notified the hostess and ambled our way over to the bar - which was only about half full. We ordered our horseshoes, and it again seemed to take a very long time for our order to come out.

For a location primarily consisting of bar food, I was very disappointed in the overall service, and would recommend that you go to this place either on a slow day or when you plan on staying to have a beer or two.

This place is so hit and miss, after my last trip there I'm loathe to suggest this place to anyone.  I helped convince a small holiday party to come here on a recent Sunday evening.  Service was great, I have no dispute with that.  The food, however, was far from it.  The appetizer of chips and spinach artichoke dip was fine.  The entrees were all messed up.  A friend and I got hot wings.  My first bite was STONE COLD.  They were soggy and obviously just recently thawed out and barely warmed.  Definitely did not see a fryer at any point in their existence.  A friend's fried ravioli were probably fried at the factory, but not at the restaurant.  Another friend had the Sirloin steak and said it wasn't the worst she's had.  I think she was being nice.  This experience bothers me because a week prior my family came here, sat outside on the patio and had a wonderful lunch.  They need to work on their consistency before I would attempt to recommend this place again.

The food is kind of hit or miss.  Some of the dishes I've ordered there have been weird.  I made the mistake of trying the BLT dip which was mayo with bacon bits in it, yuck!

That flop aside, they take some risks with their menu items which also produces some pretty fun surprises, it's their execution that suffers sometimes with food coming out cold or at different times - the last time I went the wings didn't seem freshly cooked, or they were baked instead of fried or something, they were just a little off.  That being said, their waitstaff is nice and their GM, Nick, does a good job of taking care of the customers.

Dublin Pub is my spot for a horseshoe in Springfield. Why? Cos they're open for dinner on Sunday!

Yes, finding a place to eat in Springfield on Sunday night might pose a challenge, or so I've been told. So when I was there for my first shoe, we went to Dublin Pub, at its old location in the stripmall by the chili (or chilli? I never remember) parlor. As they say, first cut is the deepest. White cheese, yellow cheese, or both? BOTH! You want chili on top as well? WHY NOT?!

Their speciality shoes are my favorite, and have followed them to their current location and still think they're the best.

Favorite place to eat, hands down. I haven't gotten anything from here other than the horse shoe but I don't see a reason why. I never have to wait to get in and the food is great at a fair price.

Definitely try this place out. Best horseshoe I have ever had. The poor ratings for this place seem like people that don't understand that you should never try anything else on the menu once you realize how good the horseshoe is.

Thank goodness I found this place. The only reason I went here was because we were in town on a Sunday and D'Arcy's Pint was closed.

Side Rant- Almost everything in Springfield is closed all day or after 2PM Sunday. We really had trouble finding a place open for Dinner on Sunday, but it lead to Dublin Pub and I am very happy that we strayed from our usually horseshoe place which is D'Arcy's.

The horseshoe here just edged out the others as my favorite place to stop in Springfield. I got to try the Club Pony, the standard Hamburger Shoe, the Turkey, and the Ham Horseshoes. The Hamburger shoe is about the same as other places I have tried so that means the fries and cheese are pretty good but no better than the competitors. What set the other shoes apart was the quality of the meet. The Ham and Turkey shoes tasted awesome. It seemed like they were slow cooked or even smoked and then fried in bacon grease or something. They were so flavorful that I ended up eating all of my plate and then each of my kids leftovers even though I was already very full. The highlight of the Club Horseshoe was the bacon. This came in a few crumbles and a few large portions of some of the best tasting bacon I have ever had.  It was like a perfect blend of thick cut bacon with the texture of a beef jerky (soft, not chewy). I have to place this as my second favorite place to eat. 1st place going to Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken in Memphis TN.

    Wooowwwee!

Being a Springfield native (but having lived in CA for the last year and a half) I had to bring my out-of-towner husband and cousin here for lunch when I went back home to visit over the holidays. Of course they had to order the horse shoe, and they LOVED it. I had the chicken patty with pepperjack cheese. Ahh so good! And now my husband is hooked on horseshoes :D ....guess he'll just have to take me back to visit my beloved Springfield to get another one *hint*hint* ;)

Because the food lacked any flavor whatsoever, I can't help but wonder if it would taste better coming up.
after staring at the predictable menu for awhile I finally decided to order the portobello sandwich , which was described as breaded...when my meal finally arrived I was pleased because judging from the outside it looked great, but when I opened it up my breaded portobello was just a shriveled grilled lifeless mushroom cap. It looked like Cary Grant's lungs. They were more concerned with making the outside look pretty than caring about what was on the inside...like a desperate teenage girl in a tanning bed.
my boyfriend ordered. Pizza. When I took a bite I couldn't taste it at all. However, I know it wasn't me because soon afterwards I had a bite of an onion and I could taste that.
Our bill came and our total was 28.49. Thankfully we were using a 20 dollar gift card we received for Christmas from someone who clearly wanted to punish us.
I know some people like to think that Dublin pub is some kind of alternative to Darcy's pint, like it's the poor man Darcy's but I assure you it is not. The price point is similar, and the food quality is far inferior. Even if you go to Darcy's and there's a wait...suck it up and grab the table buzzer, and just wait

Springfield seems to close on Labor Day, but this place happened to be open. I wanted one more horseshoe on my way from Saint Louis to Chicago. The waitress was friendly enough. We ordered an appetizer and a cup of soup; neither of these came, so we had them removed from the bill. The waitress apologized for the poor communication amongst the staff about the appetizers. My friend was unhappy with the amount of fatty meat on the ribeye sandwich he ordered, but my turkey horseshoe was pretty good. I don't know that I'd go back again, but it wasn't bad for a stop on the road.

Love the Buffalo Horseshoes! Never a wait like Darcy's.

Dublin Pub gets a wrap as a stand-in for D'Arcy's, but they are in a class of their own.  Their menu is extensive, their service is friendly, and their new location (anyone remember Ground Round?) is spacious.

Try any of their horseshoes or pizza options and you won't be disappointed.  I tried the roast beef on this visit, and this is a notoriously difficult horseshoe to get correct: too salty is more often than not what
you'll get.  Dublin's was perfect.  Not at all salty, tender, and flavorful.

I had an issue with my soda not being mixed correctly, and the waitress was very proactive and friendly about replacing it.  Never had to wait for refills, and never had to wait for a table! I'll be back, and I just might come here before driving past D'Arcy's...

I ended up here after I couldn't get into D'arcy's Pint.  The food was great, the service was great and the beer was great.  The chips that come with sandwiches are amazing, but a little too salty for me, so I opt for the fries when I'm there.  The burgers are really big and they have crazy topping options.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 -stars is because of how annoying the other patrons were, the fact that I ordered a burger "rare" and got it "well-done" and there was a hair on the burger (which could have easily been mine, so I didn't complain).  It's a good place to eat, in the end.

A very good restaurant.  If you cannot get into D'arcy's Pint, this is the place to go.  Plus, D'arcy's Pint is closed on Sunday and this place is open.  The fish and chips is very good and the beer selection is great.  The staff is friendly and provides very good service.  The prices are very reasonable.  Note: the chips are SUPER!  They are homemade kettle chips.  Get these instead of the fries!

Great horseshoes!  I tried the buffalo chicken horseshoe with both cheese sauces, white and yellow.  The interior is clean and neat, with an old back bar.  As said before, if you can't get in to D'Arcy's Pint or Charlie Parkers, come here!

Staff is friendly and the food/beer is just good enough to get you through a hungry or thirsty day. Nothing to write home about, but not horrible.

My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and after seeing the Lincoln sites, decided we wanted to try a horseshoe.  A friend who hails from Springfield pointed us towards D'Arcy's Pint, however, it was Sunday and they're closed Sundays.  Her close second was Dublin Pub.

Quick Service and an easy going & friendly staff.  Fair prices, nice full bar, and GREAT drink specials....$2.00 Coors Light Pints & $10 Buckets with 6 bottles!??!  Awesome.  Everyday?  Sweetness.

Really enjoyed it, would definitely go again.

If you want the best horseshoe in town, go to Darcy's Pint. But if you want a pretty decent horseshoe and don't want to wait in line for an hour or more, Dublin Pub is a very acceptable alternative.

The horseshoes seemed smaller than Darcy's, but the menu choices are almost identical in name. Something tasted like it was missing compared to the Darcy's horseshoe I'm used to, but it was still pretty dang tasty.

Dublin Pub offers a choice of yellow cheese sauce and a white cheese sauce, and has more of a "pub" feel (vs. restaurant-feel)

The service is decent, and we were able to get our food 30 minutes from walking in the door. (Between waiting for a table and the food at Darcy's, the wait would be close to 2 hours!)

Brunch anyone? Yeah, that's right, brunch. I had a breakfast pony shoe with a Bloody Mary. What an awesome combination. It did take a while, but it's not just about the food at the Dublin Pub. Brunch at the Dublin Pub is a perfect way to cap off a date.

The Dublin Pub is located in a shopping center with plenty of close parking.

Once a decent restaurant for pub-grub in town (though it was always an inferior copy of Darcy's Pub that used to occupy the same location before it moved to bigger quarters), the quality has really dropped off in the last year or two.  I'll go back... if someone else is buying...
