on a beautiful saturday after march 30th a friend and i took the train into atlantic city from absecon just to try out the "DUCK" ...wow....we were pleasantly surprised!! def. not a dive bar....very clean including the toilets, friendly staff, quick svc., friendly patrons  and great food! My friend and i had a couple of cold beers and we ordered mussels in marinara along /w a crap cake sandwich which were both very good.  i have never been here and i thought it was just your run of the mill dive bar but like i said it wasn't...one nice thing too is that the TV's wern't loud which i hate when you are trying to converse and eat.....i advise you yelper's to chk this one out....i think you'll like this bar.........mike r.
Review Source:Duck town is one of these places where you got a good amount of beer to choose from, tons of  food and crazy sandwich's especially the Duckbuster, it's a 24/7 establishment so there are all sort's of crowd's in the place even at crazy times like 6 am drinking there heart's and soul's away without a care in the world that sun is rising and there credit card is about to max out... lol
So your probably wondering man this sounds like a 4 star+ place right?? Well IMO here is why I can't give it that rating... $10 Minimum on the credit card.. not everyone is looking to drink 3+ beers to make that $10.. the casual drinker that want's a quick beer or two now has to buy up or go to an atm.. just come on it's a high established place that is rolling the dollars in not a dive bar.. this type of practice just screams CHEAP and being a big fan of food, bars and beer I won't hesitate to call an establishment out on this practice of pinching pennies on interchange fees from Visa etc.. How about being served beer one night in a plastic up at the bar on a week night when nobody was in the place cause the bar tender was too lazy to clean a few glasses??? Not 4 star there huh! And to top it off how about denying my buddy that's almost 30 Â a drink one night when he shows them a Nevada gaming license from Las Vegas and a Nevada state ID?? I mean they have the right to do this but come on last time I checked it's not easy to fake a gaming license in Las Vegas.
So on top of the negatives and the positives I like the place all around it's got a good location, the beer selection is good, it's got the crowd's, it's got the food to back it up it's got it all if you ask me but some service woes at times... me and Ducktown have a love or hate it relationship in the end.
Ducktown is the place to be after a long night of drinking and winning (or, in my case losing) at blackjack. This place is the definition of a dive bar and is always filled with an interesting assortment of characters and dim lighting that will stave off your hangover for an extra hour or so.
The food is American- hamburgers, cheese fries, quesadillas, etc- pretty much anything grilled or deep fried, and it usually hits the spot late at night (I would recommend ordering bacon on top of your cheese fries- Always seems to be a good call).
The staff are friendly and street-smart; though the tavern is safe and a hangout for cops around 7AM before their shift, the surrounding area can get somewhat shady particularly between 2 and 6 in the morning (although, paradoxically, that is the optimum time to hit up Ducktown Tavern).
Thankfully Ducktown is open 24 hours and serves as a safe haven for all crusaders of the night for better and for worse; I would highly recommend Ducktown as the place to conclude a night on the strip. If you're fortunate enough to be out until sunrise, this is the place to get a bacon egg and cheese with a side of bud light.
pass on this. group we were with should have stopped at the entrance, we couldn't get past the smokers near the door; place smelled like smoke and was noisy, with bar drinkers crowd and food was plain to fair, burgers. Â Angelo's Fairmount sounds alot better, we will go there. never here again.
Review Source:3.5 Stars. Dive bar? I'm not sure that's the best description or classification for Ducktown Tavern. Probably a step up from what I'd consider so, but overall a pretty decent half bar/half restaurant in AC. We stopped by on Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't very busy, which apparently (and naturally) happens during the evening hours. Fairly decent beer selections, reasonable prices, good bartender and plenty of TVs. We saved our appetite for a restaurant across the street, so I'm not sure about the food. Overall, it's a dimly lit, cozy place to take a break away from the sun and enjoy a cold one.
Review Source:Love my Dive Bars!!!
While visiting Atlantic City, NJ I asked the Sheraton conceirge for a reccomendation of a casual restaurant. Â She reccomended DuckTown and it was great a reccomendation. Â Most people say this is a dive bar but it was a step up from the dive bars that I know!
The restaurant is split in half, bar side and resturant side. Â The restuarant side has a small bar section as well. Â I walked in with my party and we sat at a table. Â There is no hostess but the bartender will wait on you at the tables. Â
The waitress greated us promptly and was very courteous. Â She was waiting on about 6 tables and 20 people but never made it seem that way. Â She was very nice when we asked her for reccomendations on the menu. Â We were there to watch a basektball game and she was aware that we were in no hurry. Â
We ordered an appetizer, drinks and dinner. Â The food was great. Â It was Mexican night (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and that is what we ordered. Â The vegetables on the food were very fresh. Â I was actually very surprised at the freshness of the food. Â
This place is also reasonably priced. Â
This is a great place to go to in Atlantic City if you are looking for a casual restaurant with great service!
It's got a decent selection of draft beer. Prices are reasonable. Customers are on the younger side, well at least the night I was there. Plenty of TVs. Friendly bartenders.
If this place is a dive bar, then well nearly every bar out there is. Pretty clean and doesn't look worn down at all.
fairly generic kinda divey bar which seems kinda like a typical generic sort of college bar but it isn't since A.C. itself does not have a university. efficient bartenders and waitresses, seems to be often very busy and crowded.. lots of 20 somethings  ..a friendly enough type of place - a pleasant change from the pretentious and expensive casino bar scene..  $4.25 for Stella Artois or Yeungling, the beers I consumed here so far.. they have some craft beers and a decent selection of hard liquor. there is food, that seems like bar food..
Review Source:Comfortable. Â That is the one word I would use to describe this bar / restaurant. Â Just off the boardwalk this nice, clean, inexpensive stop on our bar crawl was just what we needed. Awesome bartender who served up $2.50 drafts and brought out some good and greasy bar food. Â Actually it wasn't all greasy but "A" allowed me some disco fries which I gobbled up. I will take that as an early Valentines day present. Â A chill crowd makes you feel very at ease away from the touristy feel of the casino bar. Â I may rank this higher than the "Irish Bar" a few blocks down and would return.
Review Source:This place has great staff, and is always full of fun people. They have a great menu, but the food is not always number 1. I like it here, and most people do. They are now growing their craft beer selection, but sometimes the music is bad, and the bar is so packed you can't get a seat. 25+ TVs.
Review Source:Not a bad place........it's a dive bar and grill (although I feel their food is a little expensive for bar food). Â This place is a hit or miss. Â I've been here some nights when the place is packed with people and sometimes it's totally dead. Â They have a digital jukebox, so you can play just about anything you want. Â However, on some select nights, they have a DJ instead. Â Although, on the front door there's a sign saying that they have the right to charge a cover charge, I've never seen them charge a cover here. Â The bartenders are friendly hard working locals, so tip them well. Â This is my second favorite bar in Atlantic City, while picalilli pub is my favorite.
