I feel like I have to point out that this place is very close to my home so I tend to frequent it a lot.  Whether you want to belly up to the bar and just hang out or would like to park yourself at a table or booth, this place is a good choice.  The menu is large and most everything I have eaten here from chicken wings (my favorite) to steaks, sandwiches, and appetizers are all delicious.  The atmosphere is casual and the staff is always friendly.  This place can become crowded during PNC Arena events, but not to the point that you would not be able to find a table.

Definitely chose wrong. I wanted Char-grill, my friend wanted sit down. I'm a sucker for delicious(I'm sure many of you think this is an oxymoron) country fried steak w mashed potatoes. Trust me, I have had some good country fried steak in the high plains. Believe me when I say I could not even tolerate the mashed potatoes that were mostly skin. As far as the tough thin meat went, I would have preferred they go next door to the supermarket, get a minute steak and bread it. At least it would have been tender. I can eat green beans from a can at home, but I at least flavor them with onion and bacon fat and drain the water off before plating. My friend enjoyed his Thai salad, and the wait staff was friendly

I think what you're calling "marinara sauce" is actually called salsa. What you call a "mozzarella stick" is actually called deep fried rubber.

I really like this place for when I'm trying to not eat too heavy and make better food choices. For one, because they actually serve baked potatoes as a side ,and 2, because they make chicken tenders that aren't breaded. They have a huge light menu, including a  3 salad plate  you can build, fruit on the side, and lots of lighter options. Their Carolina burger is AWESOME when you don't want to eat healthy. They have an upgraded version of bar food and have a great atmosphere. Its always relatively quiet with nice lighting. My servers have always been great and attentive people. Its a little more expensive then I would like but for the flexibility to have healthier options, you can't beat it. Definitely one of my standard go - tos!

A solid place to grab some food.

Nothing bad, nothing outstanding.  Convenient location, reasonable prices.

This is one of my family's regular choices.  The menu is huge, theres never a wait (though it gets busy on game nights), I love that they have lots of daily specials, the food is consistently good, it's kid friendly and the service is consistently attentive and friendly.  We love they always have fruit which you can get as a side.  We usually stick mostly to the sandwiches but occasionally we've tried pasta or salads and have not been disappointed.  Not really a place to take someone to impress them but a solid choice if you're in the area and are hungry.

I eaten here many times and the food is pretty good, not outstanding but good. Service is always friendly and fast. My main complaint is that the prices are a little high for what you get.

It's your typical American restaurant, quite a bit more classic with the softer lighting and not the chain style look.  It's cozy for families or on a casual date night.  Most the food is pretty decent with pleasant wait staff/hostess.

    My favorites:

Chicken salad, crab cakes and the steaks!

Best to go on a casual night when the weather is nice to enjoy the patio.  Inside seating isn't bad but the patio is in my opinion more fun.  There is a bar in the front area of the restaurant, if there is ever a wait for a table.

Decent food, good service, good selection of beers, but nothing great.  We came here looking for a place to have dinner with the whole family including kids and seniors, and it was good for what we needed.

Seems decent enough.  Dining room is dark, and lacks atmosphere.  Had ribs, which were tender and juicy, but not memorable.  Grilled broccoli was far past overcooked - mushy and unappetizing.  Good draft beer list.  Bar seemed a bit more lively but I did not go in.

    I like this place.

Has a few things going for it.

The menu really deviates from your regular sports bar menu. More of a traditional American menu, and that's not readily available outside of Bob Evans these days.

When the weather is nice, the outdoor dining is really nice.

Pre-game drink for a Hurricanes game works really well here. Lots of fans stop here before the game, and the bartenders are...generous.

This use to be a "Crowley's Restaurant."  I come here about 10 times a year.  Most of the meals are decent.  One steak I ordered a few years ago came out way way extra well done when I ordered it medium.  Many sandwiches are about $7 to $9 range.  Some of the larger meals can get up to $17.00.  They do have drink specials and meal specials too.  The menu has been shaved down from what it once was.  For the most part it is average American bar food on one side of the place and a full sit down lights dim on the other side with an outdoor patio which is nice in the summer.  This is not the place to send someone that wants a nice tasting meal to remember Raleigh.  But it will do if you want to go to the bar to watch a sporting event.  A personal favorite of mine here is the BBQ chicken sandwich.

This is a popular hangout before (and probably after) concerts at the RBC center.  I went to have some drinks before a Wednesday night concert.  There were drink specials.  I had a bite to eat, but it was nothing great.  Pretty typical bar food.

Just your average, ordinary bar & grill. It looks a lot flashier from the outside than it does on the inside! The neon lights they have at night all lit up really had me fooled. My husband & I visited on a Saturday afternoon and we were amongst an older crowd, though they were rocking NKOTB and Michael Jackson on the sound system. It was sort of comical.

We both ordered sandwiches and fries. No frills. Service was good, not great. Prices were not bad and it wasn't crowded at all. All in all, an okay place to have a quick sit-down.

Pretty average neighborhood bar and grill.  Wouldn't make a point to go back, but wouldn't refuse it either.

I received a packet of coupons for people new to the area and it included one for Edwards Mill Bar and Grill.  So the hubby and I went here on a Monday night.

The service was the best.  The waitress was so helpful and gave suggestions.  She explained all of the specials and told us about the events they have in the bar (Trivia nights).  The food was delicious!  Everything tasted very fresh and was made just as we requested.

The menu has everything from sandwiches, steak, chicken and seafood.  The prices are very reasonable and the portions are a good.

Every night they have different specials for drinks and food.  Right now, Monday night they have margaritas for $1.99.  They separate the bar from the dinning area completely.

We've been here twice now and both times, the service and food were great.  I would highly recommend this place.

I was visiting my parents and they wanted to go out to dinner on a Saturday night - somewhere near their house - and at a place with no wait. That's pretty much how we ended up at Edwards Mill Bar and Grill. Last time I ate here was maybe 15 years ago - though it seems the menu hasn't changed at all.

Menu consists of the basics, salads, pasta, sandwiches, etc. - though unfortunately, because of a gluten allergy, I was relegated to an extremely mediocre salad. Nothing much else to say - everyone else seemed fine in their choice of food. Waiter was pleasant enough. Its proximity to the RBC Center and that fact that there's always a table available are probably its most attractive qualities. I also believe they do trivia during the week. I would probably go back to grab a drink or play trivia - but definitely not for the food.

Being from DC, this place was a steal. Great place to grab some food before the Canes game, quick and friendly service.

Big menu, lots to choose from. Had the 5oz filet and half rack of rib platter with 2 sides, plus bread and salad. For only $19!!!! I couldn't believe it!! The filet was cooked perfectly to my liking, medium rare. The ribs were nothing to write home about though, bad sauce and meat could've been cooked longer. Side of stir-fried veggies were good.

Nothing fancy but it gets the job done.

I've given this place 2 chances and the only reasons honestly I went there were for Trivia Events.  I'm not sure what they're trying to accomplish and why they are almost always full.  The parking lots is usually pretty full, though it's part of a strip mall so they can't get full credit for that.  Maybe people mostly go there by accident, like Ellen C.; for trivia, like me; or because it's close and convenient.

It's within one mile of the RBC Center, Carter Finley Stadium, NC State Fair Grounds, Art Museum, Crabtree Valley Mall, and Glenwood Ave.  The decor at this place is straight out of 80's and 90's. from the arched black plastic chairs, the narrow tables, and random team decor.  Seriously, I'm just confused.  Their loyalties are certainly not on one team either with decor ranging from Duke, NC State, UNC, and the Canes.

They have a dining room, shaded patio, and sports bar but the bar area is very cramped.  They have standard American cuisine, but I will give them credit for having a wide variety and nightly specials.  40¢ Wing Night - Sunday and Monday Nights.  Live Team Trivia 8pm/Rib Night - Tuesday Nights.  Ladies Night/$15.99 Prime Rib Night - Wednesday Night.  Nothing out of the ordinary on Thursdays, but on Friday they have Live Adult Team Trivia at 9pm.

We came on June 1st for Trivia and took 2nd place.  Had a good time with the British Chick hosting for Tream Trivia.  The ribs were so so though nothing to write home about.  Rib Night - $11.49 1/2 rack, potato, veggie and bread or $16.99 full rack, potato, veggie &  bread.  I got the half rack and ate most of what was on my plate though it wasn't memorable.  The service was okay both in June and this week.  Man if those servers had to even attempt waiting tables where I'm from on the Outer Banks they'd lose it if they can't keep up with it on Trivia nights!  Boo.  This past Tuesday night I got the nachos with ground beef, black beans, cheese, sour cream, and salsa.  It was alright, but they don't compare to Tobacco Road or Natty Greene's nachos.  I did appreciate that some of the beer specials were for local NC breweries.  I enjoyed a couple glasses of Sweetwater draft beer, but it wasn't even that cold.

This time we came with a $20 gift certificate to spend from winning 2nd place last time and were tied 1st when the bonus question came around.  I'll admit that we didn't care much at that point and halfhazardly threw our wager because it was not a place we were trying to come back to.  Bye-bye Edwards Mill -- you will survive, but I doubt I'll be back.

For a while Edwards Mill Bar & Grill was my "go-to" restaurant for work lunches. The menu is neutral and unoffensive and the service is always prompt, which is good (when you've got consultants to take out for lunch) and bad (when you're looking for something that ranks higher than "1" on the creative culinary scale).

I feel like this place has a split personality. This is one of the places I go with my co-workers to get drinks after work, and I've always had a great experience. We get pitchers of beer and appetizers, and the service is generally good. The patio is really nice if the weather is good, and it is generally not crowded.

However, the couple of times I've gone here for dinner, I've been disappointed.  The interior of the restaurant is straight out of 1983 to say the least. The teriyaki chicken sandwich I got the last time was not teriyaki and was barely chicken. The meal was completely tasteless. The service was still alright, but I wouldn't spend my money on an entree here again.

This review might have turned out completely differently had we made a reservation. I planned to meet my coworker at Iris, the café at the NC Museum of Art. However, when we arrived there at noon today (note: a weekday lunch), it was packed and we were told they could only seat us at 1:30. Ridonculous! Not willing to wait, my coworker then directed us to a nearby strip mall on Edwards Mill Road that housed a few fast food joints as well as this bar/grill. We scoped out the menu and it looked okay so we decided to dine here instead.
The interior of the restaurant is realllly dimly lit, which definitely did not add to the dated ambience, complete with its 1980's carpeting and hanging spotlights over each table. However, the place was really busy so obviously people aren't too bothered by the lack of décor.    Skip to the food: all right, but seemed pre-fabricated and not made-to-order fresh. I ordered the jalapeno pimiento cheese sandwich which was probably a mistake on my part.  I was perhaps envisioning a spicy grilled cheese and forgot it was a creamy mayonnaise-based filling. And oh boy, did mayonnaise feature upfront and center to the sandwich. Unfortunately I really dislike-- won't say hate-- mayonnaise but in addition, the filling was lukewarm and watery (due to the inordinate amount of mayonnaise, not cheese). There seemed to be a large number of menu items featuring mayonnaise-based chicken or tuna salads, rather than freshly grilled/prepared items. Also, another thing that turned me off was that there were 2 random french fries stuck to the side of my sandwich, which also left me wondering, since my side order was salad. I won't mention the fly buzzing around that landed multiple times on my coworker's sandwich. Gross.
About the salads, well they were definitely prepared beforehand since they came out immediately after ordering, each featuring exactly: one slice of tomato, one slice of cucumber, one slice of red pepper, and one slice of onion on top, with a plastic cup of dressing on the side.   As for service? The food was served promptly, but there was no sign of our waiter after dropping off our food. No coming back to check on our meal or drinks, no coming back to give us our checks. Another waiter/ busboy finally came to clear our dishes after an hour, at which time we asked to ring up our bill. No one picked up our checks until we flagged a front-of-house staffmember who was walking around.
I've definitely had better food and service. It wasn't completely terrible because I actually did enjoy the buttery toasted rye bread in the sandwich and thought the salad was a good size. However, there was much to be desired in my lunch experience, primarily freshness and quality of the food.

I went to Edwards Mill Bar & Grill for lunch today with the recruiters who landed me my job.  It seemed like a very business-friendly place to eat, as the service was quick, the entrees were all pretty standard American fare, and the place seemed very conversation-friendly.

The place didn't seem to have a drink menu.  I just ordered a water, and both the guys I was with ordered Arnold Palmers.  This must be a southern thing, but apparently it's lemonade and ice tea.  They were both disappointed after drinking it and realizing it was made with unsweet tea.  The waitress did get them new ones made with sweet tea, but if you go there this is something to probably ask about when ordering.

I wanted to try The Mill's famous ribs, but seeing as though it was kind of a business lunch, I wanted to stay pretty clean and not spend too much time working on eating my food.  I ordered the grilled salmon with a cup of cheeseburger soup and coleslaw.

The salmon was pretty good, though a bit bland.  It was served with only a slice of lemon, no sauce or anything else.  It was easy to eat and talk at the same time because I didn't have to cut it at all, the whole thing flaked apart pretty easily.  The coleslaw was decent, a bit like KFC's coleslaw in texture, but the sauce was less salty and sweet than KFC's (and that's a good thing in my opinion).  The cheeseburger soup was a pretty good too.  They also served some hot rolls with the meal.

Normally I like more exotic foods, but I think restaurants like Edwards Mill Bar & Grill are good for meals out with people who don't necessarily share your taste in food.  It's the kind of place everyone can agree on.  The prices are decent and the location is ideal for a lot of people who work around Raleigh, so I imagine I'll be joining people for lunch here in the future.

Want a Reuben?  How about a Turkey Reuben?  While it's not "to die for" it's certainly worth the visit.  Nice fresh side salads, good food all around and yes, the dining is certainly separate from the bar as mentioned by Donna B, a very good thing in my mind.

Service is and always has been very good and attentive every time I've been there, especially at lunchtime when it's very busy.

The only complaint I might have about the place is the roof leaks when it's raining - and sometimes, that roof leak is dripping right on the table where I'm sitting.

Edwards Mill Bar & Grill separates the bar from the restaurant - what a concept!   The food is typical, though I'm not a fan of the crab cakes -- if the menu doesn't say it's from Maryland, don't order crab cake, people!   The spinart dip was tasty.  Service was excellent, and the server was even mindful that my nose was stuck in a GMAT study book the whole time.

I like that the bar is separated from the dining room area (note the separate entrances), and there is also some outside seating.  EMB&G is conveniently located near at least one bank and one gas station, and there is other shopping in this strip mall as well.  It's also convenient to the RBC Center.

Looking for a place to watch the National Championship game, and being unable to find a seat at a number of popular places, I made the call to stop into Edwards Mill to try and catch the game. I remembered that the food was pretty good and they generally had decent drink specials, so it seemed like a good place to go.

When we walked in the door, we were easily able to find a booth in the side room that I've always favored, in direct view of no fewer than 6 TVs. The room was about half-full, and most of that was a table of Gator alums/fans who had settled on EMB&G as well.

We did end up eating dinner there, splitting a large order of the Chicken Nachos. It was easily enough for two and was quite tasty, even though one side of it was a little overcoooked. The salsa that came on the side was decent, but very mild - I like at least a little kick in my salsa. My other friend ordered the Southwestern Shrimp Salad, which I think I'm going to have to try next time I'm there.

Drink specials were pretty decent and about par for the course on a big game night. $2.50 Bud/Light/Yuengling, $5 Firefly and something else I can't remember. The food prices, on the other hand, are a little steep. I believe the chips/salsa and the a la carte side dishes were the only thing on the menu under $8. I guess it's because Edwards Mill also has a restaurant area as well, so the quality of the food is a little better than the typical bar. Even so, there are other bars in the area with high-quality food for less. EdWards Mill isn't going to break the bank, but the quality-to-price ratio could be a little better in my book.

Our server wasn't the most talktative person I've ever met, but she did check on us quite often and kept our glasses filled, which is pretty much all I ask of a server.

Once upon a time, former Hurricanes forward Jeff O'Neil and a few other 'Canes could be found enjoying the bar.  Word got out and, even after the players were gone, the hockey fans kept coming.  Since then, Edwards Mill Bar & Grill has become the best spot in Raleigh outside of the RBC Center itself to watch a hockey game.

On other nights, it's a typical bar.  No huge drink selection, dark and smokey, trivia nights on Tuesday and a Ladies' night on Wednesday, NFL Sunday ticket if you happen to want to catch something other than the Panthers.  No big deal.  On non-Hurricanes nights, the only thing that really sets Edwards Mill apart is the food.

That would seem weird, except the place has kind of a split personality.  On the other side of the bar, you can find the restaurant.  Not just that it's a non-smoking section, but it's a restaurant that looks like a nice little eating spot.  I think it's because they have this section (busy before Hurricanes home games because of its history and proximity to the RBC Center) that the food is a little bit better than what you'll find at any of Raleigh's other sports bars.
