I'm somewhat of a loyal person. I find a specific dish at a local restaurant, and I tend to order it 75% of the time. I've been to EJ Phair a handful of times, and only once have I not ordered the meat loaf. The first few times, it was by far the best meat loaf I've had at a restaurant. Mixed with some bacon and garlic, served over mashed potatoes and freshly sauteed spinach.. MMm MMmm MMM! Good! Wash it down with one of their beers on tap... that's good eating. The last time I ordered the Meat loaf, however, it was different... not exactly the same, and not nearly as enjoyable. I'm hoping it was a fluke.

I've also had the Jaegerschnitzel - it lives up to the hype.. so good.

    Food: 4 stars
    Beer: 4 stars
    Service: 3 stars
    Atmosphere: 4 stars

Their Concord location seems to be a bit more popular, which is understandable.

This is a great brewery, restaurant, and music venue! We came here specifically from San Francisco to check out the area for possible boating adventures. Pittsburg has a great marina and EJ Phair was going to be our hang out if we liked it. And we LIKED it! Awesome beer brewed right across the street in an updated historical building and state of the art brewery. The restaurant itself is in the old Liberty Hotel, a central figure in the heyday of Pittsburg which was a booming town with over a 100 bars. The town is struggling to make a come back and the owner has invested years into making the two locations beautiful and the beer and food spectacular.  Shorty's Revenge is now in my top ten list of beers, fantastic.

It's a great place to eat lunch, have a few beers and then come back for top name musical talent at night. We were really impressed and enjoyed meeting JJ. Here's to Pittsburg making a comeback and EJ Phair being central to it's success.

I really did not know what to expect to find out late night in pittsburg but was delighted to find a kick ass Hendrix cover band, some type of fresh grapefruit and barleywine cocktail that was amazing, I think I had 3 or 4, and just all around good environment.  The biggest suprise was the people, real, no frills, regular folks. If you are looking for a place away from the walnut creek vibe, this is it.

The beer is good! The food is pretty boring.... and leaves much to be desired.  The service and atmosphere are really good though.

Nice location. Not easy to find. But nice interior. Feels very warm and old. People are friendly. I've been to the concord location many times. Similar.

Beer is the same as concord EJp. I ordered a BLTA. Would have been better with more Bacon. It had at the most three or four pieces of bacon. You order a BLTA and it should be packed with Bacon. Fries were Awesome!!! Better than Concord.

I will try again. But Concord is number one still.

Great place to hang out, and also for large events and gatherings. Friend rented this place out for a family event, and everyone loves the decor, warm ambiance, and setup of this place!

Bartender can be a bit slow and preoccupied. I think the way the bar is setup sometimes it's not customer friendly, or maybe they just need to increase their efforts in attentiveness toward customers, keeping track at who already is served and who hasn't been served yet. Bathroom is pretty limited, so that's a downside.

Otherwise, all of their beer selection is great! I love dark beers and they have plenty of that! Different sections of the restaurant is its own experience, and I think they did a great job in the division of space in here. Great place for lunch also, and after work hangout spot! I've nothing to complain about this place, you always feel very cozy here, almost like it's your friend's house and you're just hanging out.

I recently tried this restaurant. Horrible experience and I will never return. I was in a party of two and we were the only ones in the restaurant- service was extremely slow. It took forever to get drinks, re fills and for orders to be taken. It took even longer to get the bill, If we had left without paying, they may not have even noticed. If you are in down town Pittsburg- skip this place and go to the Mecca Cafe- it is right across the street and so much better than this place. I know this place is trying to increase business- that wont ever happen if they continue with their current game plan.

Probably my favorite lunch spot in Pittsburg. Their sandwiches are amazing and have a wide variety to choose from. Their burgers are mouth-watering and heart attack inducing (i'm thinking of one called the Rolling Broil, i think, that has cream cheese and other goodies on it). On the lighter side they have a few excellent salads including a phenomenal Ahi Tuna Salad.

This place is a must try in Pittsburg!

This place is a hit or a miss. EVERYTIME!!! I've gone numerous times and usually eat and drink in the bar area. There is this one bartender, I don't know his name but he is an older gentleman and he is the only reason I've given this place three stars. He is so friendly, attentive, and quick. The last time I went there is the purpose for this review.

A friend and I went to eat since we were starving. After a long time of waiting for the bartender/waitress to notice us, she came over to hand us our menus and take our drink order. We ordered the drinks, and discussed what to order. We finally decided on the potato skins and pesto chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The waitress took our order, and we waited. And waited. And waited. The waitress came to apologize for the wait and let us know that it was because there was so many people. I looked around there was maybe 10 people with a restaurant that can easily hold 50 people. My friend is a chef, and knows how long things should take to cook.

Fifty minutes later from ordering, we received our food. The sweet potatos fries were burnt, no pesto on the chicken pesto sandwich. After we finished eating because we were starving, it took another twenty minutes to get the waitress attention for the bill so we can leave. I guess her personal conversation with her co-worker was more important than customer service.

I hearby solemnly swear, I will only come back for the beer, since you can't mess that up.

After Beverly's outpatient surgery this morning we decided to try EJ Phair Pittsburg for lunch.  Essentially we were impressed that they have a very good handle on service AND they KNOW the foods they served us.  She ordered one of their specialty hamburgers and I chose the BBQ beef brisket sandwich, both with very good shoestring French fries (besides splitting an order of onion rings).  Beverly's opinion was their potatoes HAD to have been sliced fresh that morning and I would agree.  They were the kind you'd love to duplicate.  The onion rings were thick sliced and golden-fried, served with a coarse-grind mustard sauce and an ample supply of condiments were on the table (Tabasco Sauce, A-! steak sauce, ketchup, Grey's Poupon, malt vinegar).  Not that we indulge every day in deep-fried foods but we honestly enjoyed the restaurant and the cooking.  We also learned that a musical group would be featured at the Brewery across the street the following evening (so they haven't completely done away with music!) although I don't know how often this will be.
In summary our experience there was VERY GOOD in our opinion as to quality, portions, prices, and service.  Glad to see them in Oldtown Pittsburg!!

The only reason I don't give this place.5 stars is the little attention to detail these nice folks need to pay attention to. Such as....definitely lacking in restroom availability, for both sexes, with a lack of paper.products provided. And....while the brew is quite good, the wine portions are definitely miniscule, for the price. Seems you about as much as you'd get at a winery wine tasting bar, at a much higher price. Kinda get the gouged vibe here.
However! It is wonderful to hear great live music so close to home. The other stuff is definitely easy to overlook for the priviledge of seeing great performers. Looking forward to giving the wbole 5 stars very soon

My husband and I were in search of some place decent to watch Game 4 of the Giants/Cardinals game. We thought of the places near home but we were looking for something a little different than your usual generic beers on tap. After visiting a few microbreweries down in Santa Barbara, we were hoping to find something comparable up this way. "How about EJ Phairs?" he suggested. I was really hoping for someplace closer to home since we live in Oakley, but what the heck...I am game for an adventure...as long as I get to watch my Giants, then I am happy.

Driving down Railroad in old town Pittsburg is always interesting...there are so many positive changes...I think other towns should take note of they have revamped an area and turned it into a very hip area...YES, I am talking about Pittsburg!!

The bar area is not huge but it is very comfortable. It is not a smoke filled dark room bar but more of a meeting friends type bar. They had many of their beer on tap served by a SUPER friendly bartender who we really liked. We started our evening with two pints and A order of the Beer Cheese Nachos appetizer. The beers complimented the nachos very well. I also saw on their menu that they serve "Frickles" which seem to be deep fried pickle spears....looked interesting and I think I will be trying these in the future.

Around inning 5 and another pint later, we decided that maybe we should consider dinner. After reading over all their many choices , he decided on the Brew Be Que Burger and I chose the BLTA (BLT with Avocado). Shortly after ordering our food was brought to us...his burger was ABSOLUTELY HUGE and my BLTA Had just the right amount of thick Applewood bacon and Avocado!!

To make a long review short, food was awesome, service was excellent and THE GIANTS WON!!

EJ Phairs is a great, non pretentious place to come, hang out have a beer or two and be comfortable... I actually felt like I was at a friends house.

    Yes...I will be back!!

This is a tough one.... yelpers, this place was awesome when it first opened. They had a ahi sandwich for example that was to die for.....now, its cost cutting and a menu that screams basic.  So dont expect much....service is okay, menu is okay.... its just overall...okay... not sure if its worth the time to stop by anymore because its out of the way. The historic value of the building is a plus, just dont expect any culinary happiness.   Grab a beer and maybe a burger at best.  My family and i couldnt leave fast enough last time we went, one of the servers mentioned the cost cutting menu and said the owner was killing the original menu.... another average restaurant hits the east bay...bummer.

We  were a little disappointed. We went to the the Concord one a week ago on Thursday and ordered quesadilla's. The beer and the food was half off and very tasty. So we decided to try the same at the Pittsburg one yesterday. The beer was happy hour price but not the quesadilla's. Plus at the Pittsburg restaurant we added chicken and it came with maybe 8 tiny pieces of chicken. The beer was great,  the food a bit of a disappointment.

Now that the music is gone I rarely visit EJ Phair.

If I wrote this review a year ago it would be a 4 or 5 stare review.  Sadly, EJ Phair keeps changing things for the worse.  The beer is still great, other than that they keep playing with the things I like.   The live music has moved across the street to their new location, though due to it being a "bar" I can't bring my son with me.  We used to love listening to live music while we ate.

They also have messed around with a few dishes, some more than others.  The worst is the chicken fingers.  I don't know why, but they changed the recipe from a classic one to some kind of breaded chicken fingers.  The first (and only) time we got them they even came burned from the kitchen.

I can say the Schnitzel is still amazing and I love the cider.  Being able to taste a ton of good beers is one of the few things they havne't changed.  Though it is tough to get a beer you like, as almost every time we go there they've changed what is available.  My wife is so annoyed she can't get the brand she grew to love anymore is yet another reason we won't be back for a while.

I love this place. Every time I come here it's like I'm stepping into a diff world. Lol the decor is fab, nice ambience, excellent customer service, & food is good. What else is there to say? I think I covered it all. This is truly a hidden gem of Pittsburg.

If it were just me this place would be fine. I like a good IPA and the food is good so what could I complain about?

The problem is that not everyone likes a lot of hops. My Judit in particular. This does not mean that she is into swill beers. Give her a good amber ale, blonde ale or Irish red and she will be happy. In a pinch, maybe, a pilsner. Currently EJ Phair  has beers they CALL a blonde, an amber ale and a pils on tap but none of them are true to  the style - they are all very hoppy. For someone who likes a robust beer but does not like aggressive hops they have nothing. One less place we look forward to going to.

E.J. Phair is a "hidden gem" in Old Town Pittsburg! Well, actually it's not so hidden but is located one block east of Railroad Ave in the old Liberty Hotel. The minute you walk in the door you know you're in for a treat. The decor is splendid, boasting dark wood paneling of another era, and the large windows let in plenty of light. The dining room is separate from the bar which currently has 12 beers on tap, including E.J. Phairs own beers brewed directly across the street at their brewhouse. My favorite is their Shorty's Revenge, an immense malt bodied ale!
The menu has a lot of variety. You can enjoy a delicious grilled burger (they get their meat from Niman Ranch) or if you don't eat beef they also offer turkey, veggie or salmon as an alternative. They have several salads, sandwiches and wraps to choose from including the Pesto Chicken Wrap which I could tell was made fresh in the kitchen because it was served warm and had the marks from the grill on it. Their entrees range from Jagerschnitzel to Ribeye Steak to Pasta Milano. I tried their house made Meatloaf which was amazing and was served with garlic mashed potatoes & fresh sauteed spinach with garlic. Yumm!  Oh, and the service was great! My server was super friendly, she made suggestions about their beers and menu items and she always had a smile on and made the effort to make sure my experience was a pleasurable one!
My server told me they also have a music venue right across the street that is open most evenings & also houses a taproom. Definitely worth going back to check this out!
All in all my experience was excellent and I plan on making this my "go to" place!

First, let's start with the most important part of my meal: The tangerine Belgian ale. It was so good. It had a hint of orange, which I really like with my beer. The pairing suits eachother well. It's almost like a Blue Moon or Hef but not as bitter.

I ordered the skinny Italian caprese sandwich. It was low cal because I replaced the chibatta bread to a lettuce wrap. Also, swapped out the field greens and onions for basil pesto. It was so good. I definitely know what I will be ordering from now on.

Instead of opting for fries, I ordered the caesar salad. Without the anchovies, not a fan of them and they are also in the dressing anyways.

Ate in the bar area, service wasn't to bad. It's the same in the dinning area.

I'll definitely be back for some more of this tangerine beer and the skinny sandwich.

OK, I have been an infrequent patron at both locations now since each has opened. I have truly wished that my rotten experiences here were simply aberrations, just some bad nights, but they are indeed the norm.

I got a burger, which is hard to screw up. Not bad. Garlic fries were simply fries with what looked like a quarter cup of minced garlic thrown on top. The mac and cheese my daughter ordered was an aberration. I've had better out of a box. In fact, I think this came from a box.  An old box. Crumbling bacon over the top was apparently an attempt to improve it, but greasy cardboard is still disgusting.

The service was dreadful. At 5:00 on a thursday there were scant few patrons at tables, yet things still took too long. We had to ask for beer refills several times. Obsequious incompetence.

The beer was fine. What I think is that this place really needs to figure out what it wants to be.  A bar or a restaurant. They clearly can't handle both. For years I have thought that this place needs to cut the size of the menu down by two-thirds.

Focus on something. Do it well. Make yourselves known for it and people will come.  Have a limited menu with some signature dishes, maybe some seasonal specials. The buiding is fantastic, the old Liberty Hotel.  It has a very pub-like vibe, and a pub menu would do wonders.

My much younger cousin suggested a family dinner here. Since we're out-of-towners, we went along for the ride.

I found the menu annoying with its incorrect spelling of the word Caesar.  It was repeated so, as pointed out by my cousin, at least they're consistent. It also lacked some important information about its meatloaf, calling it beef when really it was beef and pork. I suspected that was the case since the meatloaf sandwich listed pork as an ingredient. Another omission?  The waitress told me the "black bean chili" was made with bacon grease and often had steak or pieces of bacon thrown in.  If I had not asked, I would have been one VERY upset customer.  I have not intentionally eaten pork in 19 years and when it has slipped by me... I have gotten ill (to say the least).

The ahi salad looked good, but was inhaled by my father so quickly that I did not have a chance to snag a bite.

The wedge salad looked great since it was drenched in dressing.

The beer cheese soup and couple different sandwiches, including the veggie wrap, were all ordered by our large party.  The soup looked good, but with all the menu omissions... I did not want to chance it.

I ordered the chicken fingers begrudgingly because dear daughter claimed she was not hungry (I knew she was and wanted to order something she'd eat).  It came with shoestring potatoes.  The chicken seemed like shake and bake.  I peeled off most of the breading and it was pretty dry. The shoestring potatoes were covered in seasoned salt. A plus for most, but not for us.

The verdict?  Overpriced bar food with a smattering of lesser heart-offensive offerings.

Next time, I will INSIST on going to Mecca.

    Sorry cuz. ;)

Had dinner at the bar and I was totally impressed.

We had the Calamari for the appetizer and as for our main dishes we had the Mac 'n Cheese with Chicken, the Chicken Tenders and the Chicken Salad Wrap. Everything was amazing. I can not think of a single thing wrong with that meal. The best Calamari I have had outside of San Francisco.

The best part was the bartender Erick, that guy really knew his beers and was able to help make some really good suggestions. To top it off he was very fast, attentive and pleasant.

I must also mention that they have trivia night on Tuesdays and the winning team get $10 gift cards for every person on the team. Just a heads up the competition is tough.

    This was our 100th brewery!

There Steeltown Stout was worth the celebration pint. Really one of the best stouts I've ever had. We wanted to order a sampler, which they didn't have. The bartender poured us "samples" in various pint glasses for us. It was really sweet. We tasted their Face Puncher IPA, Bocktagon, American Wheat, Steeltown Stout, which is made with local steeltown coffee.

The bar was big and along one side of the wall is individual bungalow/gazebos with dart areas and couches. There was also a stage for music and a foosball table. There was just a great vibe among the place.

I came here for brunch on my birthday and they told me that they weren't having brunch that day...something about their normal brunch chef not being there. I was bummed because I really wanted the bottomless mimosas, so I told the bartender that and she was like, "we can still do that!"

So they did bring me bottomless mimosas, which I thought was cool, until we got the bill and I saw that they charged me the price of 2 full brunches for them, plus the cost of the lunch that we had to buy because there wasn't any brunch food.

I ordered the rib eye sandwich and it was underwhelming. I thought the meat would be sliced, but it was just a big ol' steak on a roll. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't anything I would order again. My friend got the nachos and they were just ok. The chili was kinda weird. We ordered the homemade kettle chips while waiting for the rest of our party and they were really plain and not much different than kettle chips from a bag.

I'm irritated that they charged $25 bucks for mimosas (I was the only one out of my party of 3 drinking them!) plus the cost of the food, but I would probably come back and give this place another shot. I like beer, and I love the look and feel of the Liberty Hotel. It was just a disappointing first visit.

Oh, and they don't do Pittsburgers anymore.

Overall...I like this place because it is a cool location right across from  the stage in Todos Santos Park and the atmosphere is just what I want when I go to a pub-friendly, unpretentious and lively.

The service is fine. Nothing special, but no complaints either.

The food is just alright. I've experienced wilted salad and the hummus platter is bland and lumpy. I liked the fried zucchini and french onion soup. (Both dishes were decent, but not exceptional.)The wine list is pretty good for a brewery BUT they were completely out of all Cabernet when I went here on a Friday night with some friends. I had the Syrah which tasted fine, But seriously? How can a bar run out of Cab?

I love that they have live music on occasion. Every time I've happened upon the musical goings-on here the tunes and decibel level have been enjoyable and appropriate for the venue.

Bottom line. Nice for a casual .time. A nice addition to this shopping center. I wouldn't go here to impress a date or out of town guests

Great brews! Especially when they've been named FacePuncher, Shorty's Revenge & DuckFace.

Front bar's a bit small & it gets fairly loud in the back room (especially when there's live bands or it's trivia nights). Fun place! Plus there's Taco Tuesdays!

Alright, I'm a softie. Basically, I came back with the same friends (+1) and had a completely different experience. Our bartender and host was exciting, conversational, and welcoming. The whole time I felt a very "at-home" experience and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere so much.  As I watched the Cal-ASU game, anxiety was only normal but thanks to spirit from Chun (sp?; our host) and my friends, the Golden Bears won and I couldn't have asked for anything else. For me, this night was absolutely memorable and near perfect in terms of a good night with friends. For anyone who has had a mediocre experience, I would definitely recommend that they give E.J. Phair another fair chance. This place is full of delicious food, the best brew,  wonderful people, and amazing local spirit. =)

P.S. I visited on the night that they introduced the Steeltown Stout, which is absolutely a 5/5.
P.P.S. I just read a reply from an employee/manager/owner at E.J. Phair, and that pushed this review from a 4/5 to a 5/5.

Wow! What a great place for a GNO (girls night out)!! I'm a "first timer", so laugh with me, not at me! Hee hehe! Here I go...

Wanted to hang out with the girlfriends and get some food and drinks...we all choose EJ Phair. Met a few of the girlfriends here and we all ordered the Spritzer to quench our need for a bit 'o alcohol. They were very good. Tasted like a wine cooler but a bit more fizzy. I had 3! NO, no, no, I wasn't driving (thank God)!

We shared an appetizer: order of the frickles, $4, and you get like 4 of them...one for each of us! What are they you ask... Fried pickles! Yes, they were to die for! Big and juicy pickles wrapped in a thin batter, FRIED! Hence the name frickles! Woo Hoo my new fave thing! Frickles! Its even fun to say...frickles! Say it...FRICKLES!! Hahaha! Ok now I know your laughing AT ME! Its OK, I'm fine with that....

So for dinner I tried the BBQ Burger  $12 with sweet potato fries. Pretty good! The BBQ sauce tasted like a traditional sauce, no frills there. Plenty on the burger which was fine, burger also came with an onion ring sandwiched between the lettuce and tomato AND of course thick bacon. The burger was pretty good size that I was unable to eat all of it. I saved half of it for lunch the next day, which by the way was still delicious!

I really liked the openness of the dinning area and the big tables. Not to cramped together either. The bar was filled with folks watching a hockey game. Every now and then you'd hear a big cheer come from the bar, I'm down with that!! I am going to come back here with the Hubby for date night, its totally worth it!

Desire was our server and drink  (new word) re-plenisher! LOL she was very helpful as to help us 'newbies' out with the good to eats. Its her fault we got hooked on the frickles!! We had 2 orders! Anyway, she was great and had a great attitude and was very patient with us.

I'll be honest, I like the Concord location better, but probably because it was the first place I ever had Pliney on tap. That said, the Pittsburg location is really nice.
There are some great beers on tap too! It was great getting to try Stone's 15th Anniversary in something other than a growler or a bottle!
That fact that the menu was different from the Concord location was also a cool change.

    Five Stars for Beer:
I had a great "dark" beer last Thursday! I'll go back for the beer and  music with the blues jammers.

Minus four Stars for the meal:
I was starving and unfortunately, I ordered the brisket sandwich with potato salad thinking this should be a quick order. They must have a shortage of brisket when I ordered it at 8 PM; by the time I got the meal by 9:15 PM. I got lots of burnt beef edges with super dryed beef jerky instead... no more brisket for me at EJ Phair...beef jerky is good with beer. LOL.

I was a huge fan of the concord location (we used to live 2 blocks away!) now we have jumped over the hill to oakley so... I tend to visit the Pittsburgh location.

I loved the menu of the concord location and missed it at first but the pittsburg menu is slowly growing on me.  (onion rings in concord are amazing but I do like the fries at pittsburg)

Great burgers, great sandwiches and well I've liked everything I've had.  I've had some killer deserts but they seem to vary what they have on hand.

The beer is the best around!  I hope they have some of there own on the menu soon but the guest beers are fab.

Friendly staff and a lot of nights can get hoppin with live music.

My daughter treated me to lunch here today, and I have to say it was quite possibly the best pastrami reuben I've ever had! "Melts in your mouth" is such a cliche, but... seriously. Pair that with E.J.'s IPA and you have the perfect lunch.
I turned up my nose at my offspring's choice of grilled veggie sandwich (I'm a carnivore), but later ended up eating my words and nearly half her meal.
Service, food, & beer were excellent... and the Liberty Hotel building really is beautiful.
My only regret is that I didn't leave room for dessert. Next time!
This was my first visit to the Pittsburg location... I'm pretty excited about having an alehouse closer to home.  Can't wait to come back and try the dinner menu.

I have now dined at EJ in Pittsburg four times. Each time the food has demonstrated a lack of care in preparation. Not that it was bad, just uninspired. Greasy calamari, fake butter taste on the grilled items, wobbly french fries.

Beers, now these are quite good. The bar serves a generous drink but could be improved with a fresh juice squeezed offerings. They have taken over the old Liberty Hotel and have kept the charm of the place. I like the intimacy of the bar area with it's wood and brick. They also have a back game room with couches. Nice for a playful evening.

I'm totally a fan. I've been to the Concord location numerous times, but I really enjoy having an EJ Phair closer to my side of the hill.

First off, I love that this is located in the old Liberty Hotel building -- the joint has been beautifully restored. Secondly, the food and beer is great! I have to say the the "frickles" (fried pickles) are delicious. I'm a big fan of burgers and I haven't had a bad one yet at EJ Phair. I also enjoy their fish and chips too.

A great place to hang with co-workers or family and friends. The staff is really friendly and very laid back, but, I also never find myself waiting for anything -- my glass is always full. What more can you ask for?!

Let's all support this joint so that maybe they'll someday consider opening one up in Oakley ;)

I was eager to try EJ Phair, the Pittsburg edition.  Downtown Pittsburg is going through a great renovation and I like the small town feel with a mix of old and new buildings.  I think EJ Phair will help bring people to the area.

They are still working on their brewery across the street so most of the beers available are guest options.  However, they make really good choices, so you can feel confident that whatever beer you choose will be a good one.  I had an IPA and it hit the spot on a warm Sunday afternoon.

Their menu is different than the Concord location although they do offer a few of the same items.  I went with a small mixed salad and their mac and cheese.  The small mixed salad was fresh and delicious, especially with the addition of roasted beets.  The mac and cheese was tasty but definitely not the best I've ever had.  I would try something else next time.  My honey, Jac C, seemed to enjoy his burger.  Their fries are as crispy and delicious as they are in Concord.

I like that the bar and restaurant are separated.  I particularly like that they are in the old Liberty Hotel.  Great use of a cool old space.

I go to the Concord location about once a week or every other week. It was never great but it is a decent local restaurant. The Liberty location on the other hand was horrible. For being open two weeks they should have their act together. The place had maybe 20 people in there which is dead. Most of them were at the bar just hanging out and drinking.

They only have 6 or 7 beers to choose from which hopefully will be bigger at some point. Was not that good of a selection but at least they had Shorty's which was well made. I always fear ordering beer from the EJ Phair selection because even between glasses it can be great and be awful. But I decided to try the Shorty's and it was very good.

The food selection was slim because they had ran out of a lot of things. The server was friendly and tried his best to be accommodating for the lack of quality in the kitchen. Tried a few things all of which took over an hour to come to the table which was unacceptable for how slow they were. Plus the food came out cold. They served the hot food on cold plates which does not help the situation. Every time asked for it to be heated the manager supposedly made sure that it was hot. It was still cold. How hard can it be to heat up the food?

Taste wise the food was awful. The po-boy was so dry and flavorless. I ended up taking it home and doctored it up to make it better. The cole slaw tasted like citron. I don't know what they did to the cole slaw but it was the worst I ever had. I tried to doctor it up at home but there was no hope. The jaeger-schnitzel was also horrible. Not even close to the real thing. No red cabbage but instead was a wedge of cabbage boiled to death with the core still intact. That's just laziness by the cooking crew. They were also out of spaetzel which was replaced with mashed potatoes. They did not inform us of the change but can't really blame the server because he showed me the list of food that had been 86'd from the beginning of the night to when we received our food. It was almost the entire menu. That's not fair to the servers and not fair to the customers.

The manager came over and was extremely unhelpful. She mostly argued with us and made excuses that they are really busy and the staff is still trying to figure things out. B-O-L-O-G-N-A!!! They have had two weeks to do that and that should have been done before they opened. She eventually was apologetic but seemed to be insincere. I found her to be extremely rude.

We were told that the they would take care of the bill for us. They gave very little for how bad the service was. We all left very hungry and angry at this establishment.

All the customers around us were also complaining about how bad it was even some of the regulars I see all the time in Concord. Even one of the tables that sat down as we were getting ready to leave were told that all they have left is salads and a small selection.

I hope they get their act together. I don't think I will ever step foot in that restaurant again. I will probably go to the Concord location just because I know almost everybody that goes their to hangout but I have a really bad taste in my mouth from this place.
