I don't know what it is about this place that makes my parents coo over it, it's just not that great, but the staff is incredible friendly and the plates are GINORMOUS!
My DH and I ate dinner last Fri night with my parents here. Â For a Friday at 7pm, it was far from busy. Â As a matter of fact there were only 3 tables including ours. Â That made me think one of two things: 1. Their food is bad or 2. It's just an off Fri. night. Â Well neither seemed to be the answer after I finished my food. Â I think the food is just okay and this is why they're not busy on a Friday like most places.
I ordered the chicken flauta plate with beans and rice. Â My flautas were loosely rolled in their corn tortillas (2 tortillas for that matter) and looked more like mini burros rather than flautas. Â They chicken was very moist but slightly overseasoned and greasy. Â My beans and rice were good and average at best. Â My DH ordered the Parralito house special plate and it was 2 full plates of food plus tortillas and guess what, he managed to eat it all by some miracle! Â He had red chili enchiladas, tamale, green chile smothered burro, tostada, beens, rice, and I think a chile relleno. Â It was huge!
Although this place is not a big hit in my book, I would still come back because my parents love it here. Â AND you get a complimentary sopapilla with your order at the end that comes hot, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and a side of honey. Â Can't beat that!
El Parralito Mexican Restaurant seems to be on of these places that is unique to some and not others. My Daughter loves it and would have given it 4 Stars. That said its no better than avarage for me. The service is average at best, for a small restaurant that seems to have plenty of staff you wait to long for drinks and basic services. Best food item for my taist in the flajita burrito.
Review Source:I have driven by this place many times but I had never stopped in until this morning. Â I left the house intending to go to the Asian market next door. Â When I parked, my stomach started to growl as I looked up through my windshield and saw "Mexican Restaurant". Â I instantly decided to put off grocery shopping and walked inside.
I was seated right away. Â Next, chips, salsa and a giant glass of water were brought to my table. Â I ordered a breakfast burrito that came with potatoes, eggs, green chili, lettuce and cheese. Â As I was placing my order, I asked the waitress if their green chili was spicy. Â She said no and I jokingly shared my disappointment with her.
Shortly after my order was placed, my food arrived.  She was right.  The green chili was not spicy at all.  If there was anything I could change about the dish, it would have been that  Spicy green chili would have been nice.  Other than that, it was pretty good!  For only $4.80, it was just about what I expected it to be.  Nothing spectacular, but definitely not bad.  I would really like to come back sometime for lunch or dinner.  I also saw a sign that I believe said $2 margaritas on Mon, Tue & Wed.  Sounds like a trip over here in the evening is on my agenda!
El Parralito is definitely A-OK!
