I love Elephant Bar but I didn't like the service I got at this location. The waitress was too slow to bring and take our orders. I realized that you don't get as much attention when you are seated outdoors rather than inside.

This totally just triggered in my mind. The very first time I went to Elephant Bar was with one of my ex from a long time ago at a "different" location. We would always call it "Elephant Balls Restaurant" afterwards because our server kept on grabbing his crouch here and there and thinking that he was invisible!

So at this location, there were no balls grabbing involved!

I like this place because it's very close to where I live and I like their calamari! Their calamari is very lightly breaded and I mean very very lightly breaded. Not many places does their calamari like that.  Other foods were just ehhhh average.
The customer service are generally good, but it's a hit or miss at the bar side. Or should I say most of the time at the bar, the service is below average.
Their menu is huge, so there are countless varieties to chose from.

Another thing I like about this place is their happy hours.
    ~Mon-Fri: 3 to 7pm AND 9pm to midnight
    ~Sat: 9-midnight
    ~Sun: All day
I'm absolutely sure about the hours from Mon-Fri. As for Sat and Sun, if you want to be sure, just give them a call.

Funny to say but this is the place where I fell in love with Firestone IPAs. OMG so good!!!!!!! ugh! ^_^

We were greeted immediately, and were seated in thee back section behind the bar. They explained that the section was closing, but that they would seat us there anyway because we had requested it. -1 star

Most of the time, as you can read in some of my other reviews, when a restaurant has a menu that reads more like a novel.... I am put off. However, at Elephant Bar they have done a magnificent job of melding a very cohesive, yet expansive menu. -1 star

My area code is 808, so when I saw "Hawaiian BBQ platter", I instantly knew what I was having. It consisted of a BBQ chicken breast, shrimp on a skewer (I would have preferred the chef, or expediter pulled the shrimp off of the skewer prior to it arriving to the table), and pork ribs.

The chicken breast was slightly overcooked, and therefore dry. The BBQ glaze was sweet, and tangy, but didn't make me homesick. The shrimp were overdone as well (everything should have been pulled from the grill 1:30 to 2 minutes earlier). They tasted fresh, not at all fishy, which made up for their pliable texture slightly. The pigs must be a bit smaller in California than on Kauai. Other than being half the size of authentic Hawaiian ribs, these were definitely the star of the dish. 3/4 star

Our waitress was leaving (as I mentioned before, our section was already closed out), and instead of just disappearing she made sure to bring her replacement over. She introduced the pinch-waitress, and thanked us for our time with her. This was very much appreciated, because I've had the mid-shift "oops, we forgot about you" many times. Because we insisted sitting in a closed section, this could have very well happened. -1 1/4 stars

We received the bill, and the cost was in complete proportion to the dining experience, if not a little inexpensive. Because of this, I give the Elephant Bar it's 5th star.

Great drinks, friendly service, decent food, casual atmosphere, Elephant Bar is your "all-occasion" restaurant.

    It was super cheap, especially with the coupons (;
And our waitress was so kind. We took forever, and i mean forever, to order our food but she was genuinely okay with it. The food came out fast, good proportions for the price, and a good mix.

However, it was loud in there (even in the booths) and the food came out burnt..
Maybe they were just busy that day, I don't know but I DO know that two of the dishes were burnt. :/
But the other food was great! They're not one of those cheap places that give you one chicken, etc. Good balance !

Just don't take little kids because it's kind of bland, not really what a kid wants.

Go to place for happy hour at night while watching the nba play offs.

Sangria Rojo: a nice blend of red wine and fruits decently priced during happy hour. def a favorite of mine. Try it!
Artichoke and chips: Yum warm chips to snack on while catching up with friends and watching the game
Fish tacos: you get 2 small slices of fish lettuce wrap style with a side of coleslaw. Bit on the smaller portion but hey it's cheap.

I think I enjoy meeting my friends there for chat & drinks more than I enjoy the food, but I do enjoy the food.  It is a good quick bite to eat, the prices are reasonable and the service is always good!

If you use the coupons that come in the mail, you'll get a good meal for a great price!
I usually come early; around 5:00 or so, that way I can beat the wait because this place sure does fill up!

Went here for one of my friend's birthday celebrations..and I wasn't too thrilled.

Our waitress was a little cooky..she kept making jokes and laughing all by herself. None of us knew what she was talking about. O.O

I ordered a chicken cobb salad. The chicken was bbq flavored..so I asked if it could just be grilled. Not a problem.

All of our food came out pretty quickly..surprisingly.

My salad was HUGE. There was something missing though......the chicken.

What place forgets the chicken on a CHICKEN salad?!?!
So I told the waitress..and she was like, "are you sure?" Yes..I didn't mix my salad for like 2 minutes for nothing..

So she came back with a side of chicken..and it was so narsty. It tasted microwaved..and..not like chicken at all. :X

The waitress seemed annoyed that she had to attain to a party of 9, but we gave her a good tip just because we felt bad.

Good service, good food.  What more could you ask for?

I've been to several Elephant Bar Restaurants, up and down the state.  They have great service, great consistency with the quality of their food, and they're tasty!

We went for Happy Hour (9pm) about two weeks ago.  Got a cheeseburger with fries, a beer, two Mai Tais, coconut shrimp, spinach artichoke dip, mac n' cheese, calamari, and chicken tenders--everything was fantastic!  And the bill?  Less than $50 and more than enough for the three of us.  Even though their Happy Hour is discounted they do not change the portion size.

The chicken tenders have changed since I had ordered it last (it has been awhile), they added a spicy sauce to it after being cooked, the boys loved it!  It is still crispy, and juicy and tender in the middle like I remember it!

I take my mom here for her birthday every year she always get a double order of lamb shanks.  They are super tender, not gamey, and she devours it (and she is a picky eater).  She eats one there, and takes the other home to eat the next day!

Elephant Bar is some strange mix of Asian fusion, but not quite asian since they also service food like jambalaya... its hard to pinpoint the kind of food they serve.. I can only describe it as an exotic "different" menu, try and few things and you will find something you like--I promise!

This is a decent family friendly chain restaurant, the menu is both diverse and limited, as some guests in the party I was with had a hard time trying to find inspiration in picking something they were in the mood for or that spoke to their cravings.

Generally speaking the prices are okay, between $15-20 per person after tax/tip is what you'd expect to pay.

They have fairly decent local neighborhood couponing campaigns, so there was recently a $7 off of a $25 purchase as well as a 2 for $20 special menu coupon which was a great deal.  You'll find 'em in your Tues / Wed batch of coupons that the supermarkets distribute through amongst other freestanding insert ads.

The service here is good, polite and attentive.

The parking here is easy and plentiful, and if you come here, take look at the menu before committing if you want that assurance you'll find something you'll like, knowing there's at least a half dozen or more restaurants (Burgers, Curry, Salads, Japanese, Seafood, Mexican, Diner/Cafe, etc.) all within walking distance and another dozen in the immediate area within a 5 minute drive to choose from (use YELP to find locations, reviews and business hours).

Love the creme brûlée and bruschetta. Had one bad experience with a bartender. He was nice but he seemed distracted. He brought me water and it had lipstick on it gross. Some waiters need work but not all were bad. Love their food.

I went out with my friends to Elephant bar hoping to have a good time, I was disappointed.

The food was cold when it arrived to us.

    The waitress was rude.

    I will not be returning.

Came here on a whim.  I approve.  I heard that this restaurant has undergone some major remodeling since it had opened a while back.  When I first walked in, I was a little weirded out by the moving ceiling fans.  The service was good and the staff was friendly.  I came here on 2 separate occasions and ordered two different ahi tuna dishes.  I loved them both, especially the Ahi Tuna salad.  The asian fusion, I thought, was done quite well. We had also ordered fried string beans which was a pretty interesting dish.  Overall...good experience and would come back again.

My wife and I have been reluctant to return to The Elephant Bar for a number of reasons. With that said we decided to give them another shot (they are in a GREAT location in what most residents call RESTAURANT ROW). We found a spot fast sat down and had a immediately small issue. The issue was quickly remedied by Kerrie Sheesley. This young energetic women was able to make our experience an A++. Without a question Kerrie and her "Customer Service" will have us coming back in the future. Thank you Kerrie and keep up the great work!

It's one of those rainy nights, work has just been "le suck", and one is too hungry to make great decisions about bookmarks and yelp searches, so what do two gope girls go? Elephant Bar.  I'm girl 1 and fabulous yelper Jennifer N. is girl 2.

Well, to get this out of the way, it's consistent. Across the board, you can find something for any type of eater and many of the items change so there's always something new.

The down side of this trip was our waitress; while wholeheartedly sweet and helpful, was giving out bad information on the specials (steak & shrimp) prices vs the nightly special and it's contents. So after getting girl 2 Pavlov about the steak special, girl 2 notices all the little side notes on the menu stating that it was a different price than quoted and yet a still different price with shrimp. But hey, it was a good table side sell because I almost changed my mind from the macadamia nut crusted mahi to the steak and not on special shrimp.

I did like the coconut shrimp appetizer (looked bigger in the menu) and the sauces with the salad decoration were very tasty. It all it was a good visit even though girl 2's steak did not sit well on her plate. Hmm, the presentation on mangled steak did lose them a point. I know restaurants are trying to salvage every penny, but when a steak looks like that, perhaps grinding it would be the better option. I ended up with a side dish of the vegetables, which I was assured were not spicy, and up until I choked and turned red, they weren't, it was just that part, that little tiny part that I put into my mouth that was. After that I carefully picked away any little red speck I saw.

Would I go back, yes. As I said, E-bar has been very consistent with their menu. When girl 2 asked me what I usually get, I had nothing. I actually have only gone to E-bar when a new ad for a new dish has happened. And those are usually seasonal so I've yet to develop any favorite, but E-bar, no matter, what city has always been a sure thing.

Absolutely love the food and service. The music in the dining area could be clearer. If I can't really hear the music what's the point. Music is clear outside and in the bar.

Been to two other Elephant Bar locations. The food here is as good as the others I've been to but the noise level, even at lunch time is almost headache inducing. I really, really don't like to shout in order to be heard at the table.

Food is kinda asian fusion and everything I've ever ordered has been very good.

It has been a few years since we have gone to this location. I have to agree with the last review "...one of those places you go to when you can't decide where to go with your friends".

Their mission: find a good Mai Tai. Mine? It had to go along with decent food. Elephant Bar became the default idea (compromise). As it turns out, the mission continues.

The interior is still the same. Now, its starting to feel slightly kitschy. Yet still basically clean and well run.
The waitstaff was helpful. Our waitress was extremely nice and attentive (even though it was crowded). And she was even more attentive when things went a little wonky.

The drinks were good. The food? Somewhere between a B and a C-.

    My friends ordered:
Petite fillets with baked potatoes, medium rare and salads
    * They both had crab and shrimp salads first. Really liked them.
    * One dinner order was cooked correctly. The other: the meat was over cooked and the the potato was hard! (same kitchen - same time). It was returned (after me pushing my friend into speaking up. If you don't tell them - they'll never know!)

    I ordered:
Oak plank trout with white rice and a caesar salad. Salad was fresh and not too overpowering (processed dressing, maybe?)
The fish was good, a tad underdone and not seasoned. But good.
The "lobster sauce"? So glad the waitress mentioned this version it came coated on top - I asked for it on the side. One word: gack! (something tells me the waitress had experienced issues with this before.)

To make up for some confusion on drinks (ours) and returned food, I said I'd cover desert to keep us all happy. Ordered creme bruele and sampler plate and coffee. Everyone was happier. I knew my "real" coffee was partially decaf (but I didn't say anything). It looked like they tried to keep that all separate, with different cups (someone mixed in pots at the wait station?).

We had a good time, despite the few hiccups. And, in the end, we did not request it, but they comped one of the deserts for the dinner mix up. That is basic good management. And we covered the waitress for her great attitude.

Overall: I'd say if you are looking for a basic, decent local meal, in a good location...you have about an 75% chance you will get what you are looking for at this location. Will we be going back? With all the food choices in the south bay - probably not.

I got a gift card for Christmas for this place so obviously I go and try it out. For some reason, I have a "thing" against chain restaurants so I had never even considered eating here until I got my gift card.

You walk in and the ambiance is sort of "safari" like. It's sort of nice but a bit much considering I like simplicity and food over the decoration. My date ordered the lamb and I ordered the shrimp scampi with lobster sauce. We were both disappointed with our meals. His meat was very fatty and gamy as mine was alright and just nothing special. Halfway through my meal...I notice a piece of hair on my garlic bread so I tell our server. She was incredibly nice, not only after I told her about the hair but the whole time since we walked into the door. She apologized and said her manager will be by and probably offer us a complimentary dessert since a hair is unacceptable. The manager came along and simply asked us how we were doing. He didn't apologize for the hair nor did he offer a complimentary anything after we found the hair. I wasn't looking for a complimentary dessert but him being the manager and not saying anything or apologizing was disappointing. Our server..I believe her name was Amanda..but excuse me if I got this wrong...was seriously the highlight of our Elephant Bar experience.

Also..some people might appreciate their variety of food on their menu but it felt so large and way to much was available and it didn't really have a theme. I know that's sort of the point..but I wasn't a fan.

Probably won't ever be visiting this place again.

elephant bar is just another chain restaurant that serves decent food and i have yet to leave unhappy.

its one of those places you go to when you cant decide where to go with your friends.

the food here is not fantastically awesome, but its not bad either. its consistent and satisfying so i dont mind coming here.

i always order the same things whenever i come here which are:
    -shrimp adventure platter
    -shrimp scampi in lobster sauce
    -jambalaya
    -citrus salad with chicken
and the appetizer with everything in it...

its not a gourmet 5 star restaurant, so for what it is, it is good.

My first visit to the Elephant Bar was last night and I will be back. I liked the atmosphere, the wait staff was friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy the job. The wait was a  little long but it was a Friday night. The food was timely, I had the seared ahi tuna salad and it was very good. The creme brulee was good as well, I'm used to it served at room temp and this was cold I still liked it.

My friend and I wanted to go to Benihana for lunch, but the wait was incredibly long so we skipped over here.

Walking in the door, the ambiance was relaxing. The menu is quite extensive with random dishes, ranging from burgers to sushi to fish to steak. Hard to know what exactly their specialty is .... but eh.

    Prices were a bit steep.

I ordered a Mahi Mahi Burger with fries......

It tasted....... DELICIOUS!!!!!! Service was fantastic too. So why 4 stars? Overpriced for the food....... if it was a dollar or two cheaper, it would have been perfect.

However, this is a good place for a group dinner/celebration of an event.

Note: Bathrooms are by the hostess table. I couldn't find it at first.

Wow, I used to be on the fence with Elephant Bar until we had our work Christmas/Holiday Party there.  I highly recommend this place for groups.

    They were absolutely fantastic.

    Service:

Even with 40+ people showing up at the same time with pre-placed orders, the servers were superb.  They had quite the task figuring out whose order went to which individual as they only had a spreadsheet with the orders and names, and all orders were ready right when we arrived.  The servers were happy and worked fast to get everyone's food to them as quickly as they could.  Don't think they could have delivered the food any faster.  They were also spot on with topping off drinks and were highly attentive.  Even though they were obviously stressed given the crowd, they were cheerful and had great customer service.

Food Quality: Great flavor, good portion sizes, healthy items available and a large variety available

Food Recommendations: Lettuce wraps and jambalaya are popular

Ambiance: It's a moderately quiet interior.  Think it would be a pretty good place for a date or business meal.

Decor/Interior: Very welcoming and warm, a bit modern but still a very relaxing feel to it...one of the better restaurant interiors in the area

Exterior: Very nice...nothing to truly make it spectacular but very well-kept

Prices: Maybe slightly more than other comparable restaurants, but I believe the service, food quality and the setting make up for it.

    Bombay!!!

Came here this Sunday, since we had one of there 2 for $20 coupons we got in the mail.  So basically you get and appetizer or dessert ( chicken wraps, artichoke dip, or a creme brulee), and you have like 5 choices for your entree's..

Which was also good, was that this perticular EB had happy hour all day at the bar due to the football games, so we drank it up.. OH YA..

Chicken wraps were really good.  Needed a lil spice, but otherwise good.

Entree's we had a chicken shrimp dish, that had accents of india in the way of curry spices.  Was really good. Came with rice, and sautayed veggies.
I had the salmon dish, with veggies and rice.  Also very good.

The manager also came out to apologize, since she thought they took too long on one of our dishes.  So they offered us a free dessert.  Who can resist right.  So we had to end our lunch with a slice of there awesome mud pie.. OMG good..

All in all a wonderful experience.

I had a good experience here during happy hour.

I came here right after I landed in LA. We went to the bar and ordered some mojitos. Our server was amazingggly friendly and helpful.  My cousin's mojito was too strong for her (since she's such a lightweight!) and our waiter got it watered down for her.. actually he got the bartender to add strawberry flavor in it, at no extra charge.  We later ordered some flavored margaritas which were bombbb!

We ordered some appetizers, which were decent.  One of them was a shrimp tempura sushi, which was pretty good.  We got some type of bbq stick thing with rice on the bottom, which was alright, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the seasoning used. We ordered tacos, which were mediocre. LOL, but this place was a fun time :)

This place has always been great in the past, but this last time, switching to eating in the bar, was a detrimental mistake, starting with dirty plates on the table that we had to asked to be switched out.
A waitress that forgot to check back, and the wrong order first being brought.
The bar area was loud-who brings a two year old in there anyway?!

I do love the ACAI BERRY MOJITO, it has yet to let me down.

If you go towards dinner time, expect at least a 40 minute wait for large parties.

This was my first visit to any Elephant Bar and it was a complete disappointment.
The decor was strange. It was as if someone had gone on a safari through...Asia? The dining room is set up a bit strange, but that's not important. The menus (ours were broken) read like the poor man's Cheesecake Factory in that they try to offer multiple styles of cuisine.

On to the food. We shared an order of the chicken lettuce wraps to start. They were disgusting! Elephant Bar(f) should leave the lettuce wraps to PF Changs. They lacked any sort of balance and the filling tasted as if it had been marinated in soy sauce. The peanut sauce that came with the dish was too sweet and was loaded with ginger. It didn't compliment the lettuce wraps at all.

I ordered the patty melt cooked medium well. My mom got the Mongolian Beef with fried rice. Our server pulled a fast one by not mentioning that fried rice would cost extra when she said "Would you like white, brown or fried rice?". Nice. My burger clearly sat under a heat lamp. The plate was scalding hot (my mom's was not). Despite the medium well tag, my burger was way past well done. Everything was dry and crunchy from sitting out. The side of ranch dressing was the only tasty thing on my plate. Mom's Mongolian beef came with a pool of soy sauce underneath it, which was less than appetizing.

We didn't get refills, despite our empty glasses. Combined with the inedible food, it didn't feel like a $40 meal. I wish I could still say that I have never been to an Elephant Bar.

The last time I went to Elephant Bar must've been in college.  I don't remember what I thought of the food and the restaurant then (wasn't memorable enough apparently) but after last night, I'd rather forget the whole place altogether.

First off, the hostess must've been trained to NOT smile.  She looked...miserable and not very welcoming.  That's like, the bare minimum of her job too.  To smile.

We got Fresh Whole Milk Mozzarella with Bruschetta Tomatoes as an appetizer which was good except the bruschetta was stale.  The kitchen didn't replace it but our waitress gave us fresh tortilla chips as a pretty good alternative actually.

We shared the Braised Lamb Shank which tasted like a poorly made Thanksgiving dinner of some sort.  The potatoes were too sour, the gravy tasted like it came from a can, and I didn't bother with the veggies.

And for dessert, we got the Creamy Crème Brûlée.  Personally, I thought it was okay.  Tasted more like flan than anything.  But who I went with is a Crème Brûlée connoisseur and he thought it was the worst Crème Brûlée he's had, lol.

If you're the kind of person who thinks Sizzler and Olive Garden is as good as it gets, you'll probably like the Elephant Bar.

Maybe we have high standards but I'm giving it a one star - which is really for Stevie actually, our waitress, who was very accommodating and empathetic.  When she wasn't serving our table, I noticed that she was really good at working her tables and continually charming and smiling with her customers.

Elephant Bar is lucky to have someone like her working for them.

It was my  first time to eat in a "Safari" ambience with Asian fusion/American traditional food. I am thankful that I am with a friend who had dinner here before. Yes, I don't have to pick a wrong dish.

Food: taste good better than Olive garden. Big plate = Big dish :) YUM!

    Dessert: Yummy.

Service: She was ok. I guess, if you work during 4th of July it's kinda upsetting...I felt like she was ready to kick us out ASAP by giving our receipt. She didn't even ask if we want dessert or something. :( We haven't order our dessert yet!:(

Cleanliness: Everything seem very clean in my 20/20  vision until I arrived in the restroom! (Not clean) Once again, I guess 4th of July, everyone is lazy to do anything. :(

Interesting things: I saw an Elephant's head! (KOOL) and Fans hanging on top of the ceiling (Creative) Am giving good credits for the interior designer. :))

Overall: It's Ok :) Am glad I tried it. Please, Hire someone who's hard worker and attentive with the customers.

My salad arrives but there is no pepper on the table.  I get my ice tea and the sugar tray is missing.  I'm not feeling this elephant bar at all..as always the tip will reflect how happy I am with my service.

I enjoyed  the Norwalk and Lakewood locations.

They either need to hire more bartenders or they need to hire efficient bartenders. They seem to be running all over the place, looking like chickens with their heads cut off. You have one circular bar, it shouldn't be that hard to be attentive to all patrons sitting at the bar. Although, I'll give them a break since their douche of a manager seem to be eyeing them down every few minutes or so rather than checking on customers. You can tell that fella had a bit of a power trip.

Back to the review at hand, the HH menu is fantastic. We ordered the "Classic Big E Burger" one with a regular patty and one with a veggie patty. The classic burger was HUGE and it comes with fries......all for $5.50! We're definitely going back to try more of the HH food. HH is 3-7 Mon-Friday and 9-close EVERY NIGHT!

In short, my friend described this place as a "fancier Applebees" lol

More bar, less Elephant than I expected.  No loud roars.  No elephant poop.  No tusk hunters.  I took off my safari gear, and headed straight for the bar area to meet my friends.

AMBIANCE -- Seemed pretty nice actually, and better than I remember from years ago!  Its upscale, nice lighting, and comfortable to hang out.  It's commercially decorated, chain decor (not boutique or particularly unique), but they've done a nice job.

SERVICE -- with Sasha, she could bring me empty plates & glasses...and I'd still think she was great.  On a serious note, she is efficient and attentive, along with being sweet, fun, and adorable...she exhibits a real upbeat and energetic spirit.  Peeps -- see how much a service makes an experience?

HAPPY HOUR (3p-7p, and 9p-close) -- I was there in time to fall in love, no...not with Sasha (that's more of a crush), but with the late night happy hour.  Yummy appetizers are $3.50 to $6.50, and drinks/drafts range from $3-$5!  I had the chicken tenders...and they were awesome!  23oz draft beers for $5 is a steal.  The bar has TV's all around, and plays top 40 & rock, and at a good volume that you can still have a conversation.  Next time, I'm trying their Combo for $6.50 (Burger, fries, and beer)...that's nuts!  With 2 happy hours, apparently, you're screwed if you order between 7p-9p!  This is a great place to meet friends, or a get-together with your work buddies.  With deals so good, it's like your doing a bank heist with your pals.

MENU -- I've been before, but not for years.  I will go again to have an entree...and re-rate/append to my review when I have something more current.  I do recall loving a stir-fry years ago with the most amazing tofu.  So much so, I had it several times.

SPECIAL NOTE -- 2/7/2011 @830pm-1130pm w/Kelly & Marc.  So nice to see you both...thank you for treating too!  Next time, it's on me!

    HAPPY HOUR! WOOT!!
Love the service. Love the drinks (I think).

I'm a lil buzzed right now, but you know what, I always love their service at happy hour! Happy waitresses!

Restaurant's food is just alright... I'm not a fan. Love the fact that they have happy hour twice a day. Well, at least they have happy hour after 9pm til closing time. Always a bonus.
