Can I give this place no stars?

    Sticky, sticky floors.

Slooooooow bartenders. Like sitting on their cell phone, texting while you're drinkless. And frustrated.

    "Can you play..."
"I'm the DJ. I play what I want. No requests."

Varying drink prices. Which means, you're stealing my money.

I went in against my instincts, at a friends request. It was her birthday. I'll never go back. There are plenty of other places in the tropicana to drink, dance and party.

Ahh, Firewaters. This place would be better off ON fire, but I assure you there wouldn't be enough water in the world to put it out. And what a shame considering all of the beer options they have on draft.

First of all, the location is just weird. It's kind of in the mall, but not really. It's kind of near the casino, but not really. It's like it doesn't know where it wants to be so it just kind of plopped itself in the middle hoping to get customers en route to the mall/casino to stop in.

Secondly, the place is filthy, but perhaps its biggest problem was the rudeness and slowness of the bartender. This guy either had a really bad hangover or a death in the family, because he clearly did not want to be there.

I went here with a group of 6. The girls wanted martinis. The bartender said not until the next bartender came to replace him. He didn't know how to make the martinis they wanted. Then I asked for a beer they ran out of and he offered me no alternatives. When I chose my own replacement, the bartender told me that option was $10 and asked me if I was sure I still wanted it. I didn't go here dressed in rags so I'm not sure what he was implying.

Bottom line: avoid this place, especially if that grumpy old bartender is working. The only saving grace for this bar is the number of beer options, even though they may be out of what you want to order.

Firewater stands out as the best beer selection on the boardwalk...Bartenders are friendly and attentive. The beer selection is very good for what it is, however it's very static. Every time I come here they have the same beers. I understand they have a target market of tourists that aren't here everyday, but I think they'd succeed if they kept some classics and had some rotating taps. Every great beer bar I've visited operates this way. They also don't really serve food and I know many people, myself included like to snack on something while they drink. Honestly, it's a little bit of an identity crisis, they have the menu and decor of a dive bar but seem to think they're above it. On a boardwalk of swanky overpriced bars, they should embrace it.

If you're looking for craft beer at the casino, stop by Firewaters. They have a solid selection of beer and the staff is nice. Prices are pretty standard for the area. When we went, it wasn't terribly crowded so we were able to talk with the manager, who was a good guy.

It's nice to know there is a place like this where one can seek refuge from the usual clubs/lounges with bad music and crowded, run-of-the-mill faux-Irish pubs.

We didn't stay long but we would return if in the area again.

Not bad. The wife and I went here looking for craft brew places in Atlantic City and ended up at this place.  We found a decent selection, but we feel the drink prices are a bit higher than normal. Probably 'cause this place is inside the Tropicana. Overall, nothing too exciting or too bad about this place.  It is just an ok place.

I am actually going to split my review into 2 sections: the night club afterhours version, and the early in the day version. It will make sense. As if you head there during the day, its totally different then after 10pm

Firstly per 10pm: Located in the Tropicana, Firewaters probably has one of the best beer selection for on tap and also bottles. We like to go here earlier and sit at the bar and get samplers. The price is pretty much what you'd expect. They have lots of TV's that are up high for watching sports which is what's typically on. The bar tenders are typically nice and responsive during the pre 10pm time line. It's a great place to go, sit, and just drink away with your friends if your down in AC to gamble, or heading somewhere before and event. Its decently lit during the pre 10pm hours. You'll be able to pull up a table.

Secondly: around 9-10pm, they have bouncers and turn town the lights. They also open up their martinee bar, along with go into club mode. Now the interesting part here, is during the pre 9pm hours you have a lot of people from the poker rooms, and people in the area stopping in to grab really interesting beers that are typically not available in the area, or get samplers. Post 10pm, club mode where the short skirts come out, and people load the dance floor area. They also have a cover after about 9pm, but if you were in there before or there for a while, typically they just come around and stamp your hand. Technically the martini / dance floor area has a dress code, the other area does not.. weird. We have run into some problems during club mode from over aggressive people which is why they have bouncers. Also don't expect to get the same level of presentation from the bartenders, which is understandable from the amount of redbull vodkas and shots being ordered. They get busy and it gets hectic.

Lastly: the place is what it is depending what time you go. Do you want to sit and drink and get lots of random beers? You probably want to be there before 9pm, I'd say go in at 7pm and head to Tun Tavern after. Do you want to head to a club? Head there after 10pm when it starts getting busy. Regardless, there's a 24 hour deli attached to it, which comes in handy, foods not excellent but you can get food anytime which is a bonus in AC.

Why 3 stars: its got a great beer selection, and will have something for everyone depending why you want to go. We go every time we are in AC, as it tends to be the spot as people trickled down we meet up there, and then decide what we are in the mood for. We used to stay all night, but the bar's club mode got stale.

Bartender not friendly to me and my gf. Weird, cause she was friendly to other patrons..

    No mojitos

Had the package with the casino and wouldn't let me order a martini? Dislike! :(

On the bright side, I had a margarita, and it was strong!!

Place has TVs, so its a good place to watch a game, but it would have been nicer if the music playing didn't drown it out.

So 3 stars.. just cause of cheap strong drinks. $5 LI!
Seemed to have a good selection of beers. Kind of small plain sports bar otherwise.

its dark in here, its like a cave. delicious martinis, worth the $10-$12 each. i say its worth it because they put enough liquor in it so that you will feel it when you get up to leave the bar. went a little earlier in the evening to beat the late night crowd which i heard gets a little skeevy. will def be returning until i have tried all the martini flavors :) & they have mad beers on tap, im not a beer drinker but im sure a beer drinker would appreciate that.

Reasonable prices and great beer selection.  Not to mention extremely friendly and knowledgable bartenders.  FireWaters at the Tropicana is a great place to hang out for a few hours, try a few good beers and watch a game.

    50 Beers on Tap!

Okay, now that I have your attention, let's talk about this place.  After having a couple of beers at a pub upstairs, I ventured downstairs and happened upon Firewaters, which is on the backside, boardwalk level of the Tropicana.  I looked in, saw their 50 taps (see photo) and quickly grabbed a seat at the bar.  After looking through the beer list, which also includes over 100 bottles, I decided on Merry Monks, which is a little pricey, but delicious.  The place wasn't that busy, but it was a Sunday evening, so it's understandable.  Service and atmopshere: okay.

The next afternoon we came back and decided to order the sampler: 4 different beers for $8.00.  We wrote down all our selections and had a fun time trying a lot of different drafts while watching some pre-season baseball.

I'd definitely recommend getting the sampler if you want to try something new, but don't want to fork over dough for just one draft.  Another nice bar find in A.C.

cool place to go if you're already staying in the Trop and don't want to get all dressed up and drop a ton of cash. Don't expect much and you might just be surprised. You can get drinks for good price.

This is a casual bar that has a pretty good DJ arrangement, and seems to always get the people dancing. It gets good after 11:30-12 when all the rejects who didn't get into the club upstairs seek refuge here.

    Pros:
*Lower priced drinks than you'll find at some other places in AC
*No cover when we arrived on the early side (not worth a cover though, if they had one we would have headed elsewhere)
    *Wasn't overly crowded on a Saturday ~11pm

    Cons:
    *Service was just ok
*Odd clientele (As we walked in, a 40 something guy in a sloppy t shirt said "look some ugly whores just came in".   Wow, that's so classy.  PS I was with a small bachelorette party, including the bride's mother, so hardly a pack of "whores").

Nicccce lil bar in the cut, go down down downstairs in the Trop.  Looks smaller than it actually is bc the bar area is upfront but go to the side and around back and youll find a whole other bar, flyyy chix in short skirts and a decent sized dance floor.  Very casual laid back vibe.  No dress code or expensive drinx here.  Mixed crowd but there seemed to be one too many college heads.  Music was Top 40/Pop hits, didn't stay long but on different night I could see myself getting settled in here.  This is the spot your going to if you have on sneakers, a jersey, or a hat.  Only $5 bux to get in btw, Nicccce.

Awesome beer selection (around 50 on tap plus everything else) and amazing martini selection. The prices are decent considering this bar is in a casino.

Was there on a Saturday night and the music was really good!

This place was awesome. The martinis were amazing. They had so many different beers available. The bartenders were great. Prices were good. Coming back here in June for my birthday!

I have been here several times and they have one of the largest beer selections in south jersey. I wouldn't say the atmosphere is great but it is ok . I came here after eating elsewhere so I can't comment on the food. It did make my beer mecca list.

i've been here twice and both times i've had a lot of fun. my boyfriend doesnt really dig the club scene, but since this place is more laid back like a bar, he is able to have fun while i dance the night away. it's a good mix and a nice change from all of the 'upscale' pricey clubs in AC. it is by no means glamorous, but if you're looking for a good time and looking for something a little laid back, this is your spot.

I had a lot of fun here for New Years 2009, it was by far the cheapest place to dance or you can hang by the bar or some tables. It also is a little more laid back than the large upscale clubs in AC. The music is basic probably top 40. My only gripe was that for midnight they ran out of champagne. I didn't get any-no champagne on NYE!!! :( Otherwise we had a fun night and I plan on going back.

I cannot stand this place. In between the past 3 years I have been here twice, maybe three times and every time I hate it more. The inside reminds me of a middle school cafeteria where you pay a $5 cover for a Saturday night. The music is top 40 for the most part but is geared toward rap club kids. The crowd seem like they let in people that were hanging out in the alleyway. Some of the crowd even huddle outside the entry line so you're bound to get some obnoxious drunken comments. The one good thing is that there is a deli nearby so if you want a quick bite to sober up or just munch it isn't a far walk. Also, this could be good if you're looking for a less crowded spot. Me, personally, I hope none of my friends ever drag me back again.

    Drinker's paradise
    Rife with young casino rats
    Get a sampler tray

If you're going to offer 24 hour service on weekends, 50 beers on tap and 101 bottles, you'd better offer a sampler, which Firewater's does for a cool $7. Maybe it was the result of several such samplers, but this place is pretty decent for a casino bar.

The clientele can be a little more diverse than what you'd expect for a beer snob's destination, but most of the martini slinging crowd stays in the separate martini bar, leaving us degenerates to enjoy our selection in peace. Peace being relative to a casino, of course.

The biggest gripe, and the reason this place is not 4 stars, is the price of drinks. $16 for a Dogfishead Raison D'Etre bottle. Get out of here with that. Honestly, stick with the $7 sampler if you're drinking. The 4 selections add up to a full pint. That's a hell of a lot better deal than the sneaky overpricing on other items.
