The burgers were good, the toppings were tasty. Â The fries were ok, VERY pricey. Â I'd go back if someone wanted to go, but I don't think I'd pick them on my own.
On a side note, didn't like the setup of the place. Â Support pole in the way of where EVERYONE needed to go to get straws, napkins, towards drinks, etc. so it caused a huge bottleneck which is a pain if you go when it's crowded.
The burgers are pretty good, but overall the menu is overpriced. Â They have signage all over claiming "best value" and "best $5 burger" all from NY city and LA newspapers. Â Maybe the pricing structure there relates to "cheap" but not so much here in the midwest. Â First, the so called $5 burger is actually $5.79 and the cheeseburger is $6.49. Â Not that bad, but not exactly as advertised. Â A regular frie hits you up for another $3.39 (large fry a whopping $4.69) Â And just to hit you up for every last penny, a regular soda runs you $2.29 ($2.59 for a large). Â So to put in into perspective, a Cheeseburger, regular fry and regular soda will set you back $12.17 (more if your location charges tax). Â If you upgrade to a large fry and drink, your total will be a whopping $13.77 for a burger, fry & coke combo. Â Is that a "Value"? Â I'll let you be the judge, but I think there are better for much less.
Review Source:I was a bit puzzled, as we left our second visit, about why the big deal about 5 Guys. The burgers were less flavorful than the little freckled red head girls' down the street, and I have had fries that were about the same or better, and for the price of a Vienna beef Chicago dog. So, the red heads' employees may not be as practiced at acting thrilled at the sight of me, and the Chicago dog vendor may not be as perky, but for value and flavor, I would rather pay either of them a visit on the rarer occasions that we reserve for fast food splurges.
Review Source:I agree with a few of my fellow Yelpers who have given a two star status to 5 Guys.
There menu is very limited. Â I personally don't care of the fries... even if they were smothered in cheese, I don't think they would be that great.
The burgers are okay... or as the quote for a two star joint is, "Meha, I've expected better." Â Now, honestly, I've had worse, but there are many other places out there which serve up better burgers. Â
The rolls they have are good and perhaps the best thing they have here is the selection of toppings. Â
I've been to several 5-Guys, and in each the wait staff always did well and the food came out quickly.
In summary, if you want something different or better than McDonalds, and there is not a Culver's, Sonic, or Fuddruckers  about, then do stop in.
After all the followers recommendations and a few articles about what a great place Five Guys was, I ended up trying it our for myself. Â I'm now confused as to what the big deal is.
I had the regular cheeseburger and the $2-something cup of fries. Â
The cheeseburger was OK and I'd put it somewhere near the regular patties of Wendy's hamburgers and definitely a notch below Culver's. Â It was a little tasty and the quality seemed average. Â
$5 for a cup of fries is absolutely insane! You can buy 10 pounds of potatoes for that. Â
$7 for a hamburger and $5 for fries must cater to the crowd that enjoys $4 coffees. Â There's plenty of local places that make hamburgers better than these.
Ok I have heard all the hype about this place. Been here 2 times. Â Burgers are well, just ok, nothing special.Toppings on the burgers were nice and fresh. The place was extremely busy both times we were here, but that was expected due to it's location. Â Service was good, fast and friendly. The fries....... just ok, again nothing special. Â The prices are extremely expensive for what you get. Â 4 of us and it was almost 50 bucks........ Â This is in no way meant to be a bad review. The food was not bad, just not THE BEST.. Â I guess I am still trying to figure out what all the hype is about this place. Â There are other places around here that serve a comparable burger for a lot less money.
Review Source:My first time trying Five Guys and I have to say they have the best fries I've ever had! Â As far as the burger, it was pretty good! Â I am way more of an IN-N-OUT fan when it comes to the burgers, but Five Guys was good too; just not as flavorful! Â I would go back, but next time order the smaller hamburger.
