Everytime I did go back I mentioned how terrible it was and you staff didn't seem to care.I assumed when my party dropped almost $600 you guys would but ohhh well

We went last night for a birthday celebration with a party of 5.  We had long waits for everything...to place our order, to get our drinks, to get appetizers, salads, bread, refills on water, entrees.   And, when asking the waiter a second time for bread (mind you, we hadn't received ANY bread at this point), he condescendingly reminded us that we had already asked him once (he didn't seem to care that it was 30 minutes earlier).   Our dinner service didn't "flow" and we spent a lot of time with absolutely nothing on the table between courses.  The food was mediocre, nothing to rave about for the exorbitant price.  Keeping the wine flowing was a priority for our waiter, but it was clear that he wanted to make as few trips to the bar as possible to accommodate our preferences.  Our total bill was over $600, and the waiter had the audacity to suggest a 21% tip when presenting the bill.  He's lucky he got 15%, and I struggled with that.  We won't go back, and will not recommend Fleming's to our colleagues and friends.

Great beef, polished service, comfort food, bit pricey. That's pretty much all you need to know.

Fleming's is a "type" - its a high-end steak house along the same lines as Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille and Mortons. Clean yet comfortable (corporate-y) dim interior, great wine list with some value bottles alongside more enviable companions, WONDERFUL melt-in-your-mouth aged beef, complemented by sides and salads that you've already enjoyed too many times before to count - Caesar and wedge salads, creamed spinach, sauteed asparagus, potatoes every which way. Your palate won't be surprised here, but it won't be disappointed either.

Budget-friendly tip: go on Sunday! My family and I went for Father's Day, had a lovely relaxed time. How is this day different from all other days? Well, on all other days, everything is a la carte - $40 for a steak, and $10 each for salad, side and dessert - that could get you easily to $70 per (very stuffed) person, and you haven't yet had a drop to drink or tipped anybody! But on Sunday, they have a prime rib special that, at $40, comes with a lovely 12oz slice, a salad, a side AND a dessert (any one off the menu, not a limited selection). It's the best deal you'll find there, and the prime rib is particularly delicious.

My experience at Fleming's has never been anything short of superb. From the service to the food, no detail is overlooked. My boyfriend and I continue to go back for our anniversary dinners because we've had such stellar experiences. The waitstaff knows the menu and is always sure to clue us in on nightly specials. They are attentive without bugging your every 3 minutes.

The best part - you can actually order a steak the way you want it cooked! No more of this ordering something rare in anticipation that it comes out medium. You certainly get what you pay for here. Be sure to let them know if you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion - they give you a celebratory treat, which is a sweet way to end the night!

Me and my wife had a great time here on our  anniversary. The service was great, the food was wonderful. We both had steaks and when we cut into it, it cut like we were cutting butter.  We also had the fully loaded baked potatoes, which was good also. I really recommend this place if you want to spend the night out eating good food. Also when you arrive, pull right in front of flemmings and the valet when be happy to park your ride.

From the moment my wife and I were greeted with warm smiles. We arrived early to try out the wine bar before dinner. The wine selections were great! The bar staff was very knowledgeable which made our selections perfect.
Once seated, the server was great and the mall went off without a hitch.

    Great evening!!

Go to Ruth Chris. Flemings wasn't bad, but it just is not nearly as good as Ruth Chris but it is still the same price. The filet was fatty, and the beef carpachio lacked flavor. Again, not bad, just no where nearly as good as ruth chris.

Good mini fillet-mignon, appropriately seasoned, perfectly seared.  Great salad- simple lettuce, cheese, bacon, caper and fresh dressing.  The desert was a disappointing flop- chocolate walnut cake/brownie with caramel that was way too sweet, way to thick after a meal like this- fruit cup would have been a better offering.  A good meal needs a delicate balance, this restaurant has not mastered this art.  Ambience is okay- severe AC on a cool evening in the high 50s? Open window would have been better.

Took my boyfriend here in December for his birthday.  He had never been and I new the food was delicious.  I had previously visited the location in Scottsdale and remembered how great the food, wine, drinks, and service was.  We had a table setup in the back part of the dinning room, perfect romantic ambience. My boyfriend ordered a steak and was raving about it for days.  I had a small plate lobster tempura which was good,  the specials sounded amazing.  Wine was paired perfectly with the meal.  We will be back!

With the new addition of our Baby my husband and I have created a new baby-free eating-out motto "Go big or Stay home".  We tend to take our baby (Cameron) with us almost everywhere, however there are some restaurants we don't deem as baby-friendly.  These restaurants are designated by asking myself, pre-baby if I was paying $200+ for a dinner would I want someone's infant strewing crackers all over the floor next to me?  Granted your answer may be, "I never want that to happen at any restaurant", but this foodie couple had a child so it happens at 70% of the places we eat out at.

Not being from the "City", I had never heard of Fleming's growing up.  So when I received a gift card I was like "whats this place".  Little did I know it was a well-known and well established steakhouse chain.

Lets start with what I liked.  We were able to make a reservation and the atmosphere was comfortable.  Also, I found their extensive wine list great because my husband and I are always looking for new wines to try.  Finally, the Chipotle Mac and Cheese was the best part of our meal.  Not only was it delicious, but it was different.  Usually we see lobster or truffle mac and cheese as upscale restaurants, so I thought the chipotle was a brave move.

Now the down side.  My husband and I both ordered the special that was two smaller filets with different treatments.  We always order medium-rare (how else would you eat a steak?).  Both of our dishes, so all 4 steaks, came out medium-well to well done.  Ugh, cardinal sin for a steakhouse.  Granted our waiter jumped on it and made it right, but come on!  You are supposedly famous for your steaks and you send out dried, overcooked ones out to a table?

I know that it is harsh, but because of the steaks issue I don't see us going back to Fleming's.  There are just too many other great options.  Maybe I will just get take-out Mac and Cheese!

My bf and I came for dinner last night and had a great meal! While we were waiting at the table, we ordered cocktails at the bar - I had a blood orange margarita that was delicious and my bf had a "new old fashioned" which he seemed to like. After we sat down, since we ended up having to wait a bit for our table the manager came by and told us that he would be comping our appetizer. We had the seared ahi tuna, and it was fabulous! The blackened crust on the tuna was a little bit spicy which was great, and it was cooked really well.

For dinner, we both got the specials. My bf got a piece of monkfish in some kind of lemony-peppery sauce that was totally delicious. I had the trio of filets, all were good but two of them were excellent - perfectly cooked to a medium and accompanied by a little bit of  mashed potato and some tender asparagus.

If I hadn't been so stuff, I would have loved to stick around for dessert! The only thing I found wanting was the wine that I chose: the 14 Hands cabernet was just so-so. Other than that, the wait staff was extremely professional and courteous and it was overall a really great meal!

I've been to all the steakhouses in the area, and there are a lot; but Fleming's is my favorite for both quality of food, price, and service. I usually order the bone in ribeye at all of these places and IMHO Fleming's has the best and it's also the lowest price!! The service there is always awesome, be it in the dining room or bar. I've been with all adults and with my wife and kids, and without fail we've left with a smile on our faces. I know that Fleming's has a reputation for being snooty, but that is not warranted. I have never been to their happy hour, but have heard from friends that it is awesome!!! All in all, I love this place and could not recommend a better restaurant in the area!!!

5 stars for the bar and the happy hour food and cocktails.

recently made our first, but definately not our last trip to Fleming's for some late afternoon cocktails.
Nice atmosphere. Nice bar staff. Comfortable seats and relaxed feel.
The bartender makes a GREAT drink here. Great manhattan and dirty martini.

the bar food on the happy hour menu was nothing short of spectacular, though we only tried the pork belly and the calamari
the pork belly was delicious with a wonderful accompanying sauce and some seriously legit polenta. I could eat an entire bowl of that polenta. man was it good

the calamari was cooked perfectly and had a really nice sauce. it was very subtle. just perfect.

portion sizes were awesome. quality of the food was awesome. drinks were awesome. service was awesome.

will definately be back for happy hour

Fleming's has GREAT happy hour specials - 5 options (each of wine, cocktails, and appetizers) for $6 til 7pm!

We arrived around 5pm to a crowded bar, and the manager/someone in the front promptly made accommodations to seat us in the main dining room.  +1 points for service.

    We ordered:

    - Peach sparkler: A bubbly, peachy drink made with vodka.. delicious but strong!  Do yourself a favor and don't drink on an empty stomach, like I did.
    - Sweet chile calamari: crispy batter with this great sweet sauce.  Probably my favorite appetizer we had.
    - Tenderloin carpaccio: thinly sliced rare tenderloin with some kind of aioli spread over it, offered with crispy bread, green garnishes & cheese.  I really enjoyed this as well and was surprised w/the generous amount of meat they had.  I ended up wishing we had more of that crispy bread.
    - Cedar roasted mushroom & artichoke flatbread: This was good, and I really enjoyed it, but I probably won't order it again bc it wasn't AS great as the calamari & carpaccio.

Throughout the meal, our water was constantly refilled, the manager and our server (Melvin!) often came by to check on us, and the rest of the help staff made sure we were pleased with our selections.

Melvin was such a delight to have. He was attentive w/o being pushy, is an excellent conversationalist, and timed the his arrival (and the arrival of our food) perfectly.  I hate shoving a big piece of food into my mouth, only for our waiter to appear 2 microseconds later and ask me awkwardly how I'm enjoying my meal.  I've been to Flemings before (not for HH), and the service Melvin provided was actually BETTER than the service I received when I was paying full price for dinner.  He really is that good.

Bottom line: Flemings is a great place to eat...the food is delicious, the service is top-notch.  If you go, definitely request to be seated in Melvin's section.  And for all you students like myself, if you wanna ball on a budget, go for their 5/6/7 HH specials! ;)

Service was so snobby.  Wouldn't recommend considering the options nearby.  I think the chef deserves a lot of credit for carrying this place but the bar staff was the worst.

Second review on a Friday night. Same happy hour but the bar is too full you can't relax for people sharking your table to see if you're leaving. The same food that was great first time we came was not great this time - Cajun prawns with burned bread and a burger with burned bacon. Service also less than great. I'm confused! Maybe the third time will be the charm....

I've eaten here a few times before, both as a dinner with just my husband and for group pharmaceutical dinners.  The food I've had before had been very good up until my most recent group dinner.  My filet was overcooked, almost well done when I had asked for medium rare.  Our mashed potatoes were boring. I think they're a great spot for happy hour though.

Got a promo for some $$ off our dinner so we decided to give this place a try. Normally since we're young we get awful service because our waiters assume we'll be poor tippers- NOT the case at Flemings! We got a nice booth where we were able to look out onto the restaraunt and couldnt hear other conversations. It's not a quiet place but not jumping lively either- I would describe it with lots of enthused conversation. Anyways, we got excellent service and they really made us feel welcome! Our dinner included an appetizer, steak of course, and the chocolate lava cake which was out of this world.

We were there for quite a while- 3 hours- but it didnt bother us. It seems that a lot of the complaints come from slow service, and I can understand that. However this was a special dinner for us and we didnt mind the leisurely pace. Our food always came to us pipping hot and fresh. That being said I wouldnt advise you to go when you are already hungry! Get there an hour before you plan to eat, and expect to stay for a little bit.

We will definitely be going back- compared to other steak houses that we've been to (like Capitol Grille), this was the best.

Nice atmosphere, very empty for the dinner hour on a Thursday night.

For starters our bus boy knocked over our $100 bottle of wine and only commented that it was a good thing it didn't spill on me and quickly scurried off.  We had to notify our waiter of this mishap and in doing so the manager got us a new bottle.  The bus boy then avoided us after that.

We ordered the baked brie which tasted bad, something pungent on it.  We couldn't quite put our finger on what it was but did not finish it.  We also didn't care for the WICKED CAJUN BARBECUE SHRIMP either.   Both appetizers were left unfinished, the waiter never questioned it, we didn't mention it either.

I ordered the PORCINI RUBBED FILET MIGNON ($45).  I ordered medium rare, it came back medium well.  I sent it back only to then get another medium well steak!  The waiter didn't come to check on us again, I believe he knew it was overcooked..again.  We took it home and fed it to our dog.   My boyfriend's steak was also over cooked and very dry.  We decided enough was enough and were just too upset to mention it.  Figured we would leave and NEVER come back.

We spent $250 for bad food and service.  The only thing that was good was the red wine and the CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE.

Very nice ambiance - brighter, lighter and more modern than a lot of other prime steakhouses.

Food was great, juicy and tender, high quality meat nicely cooked.  The portion of its filet mignon was a bit smaller compared to other major steakhouses like Capital Grille or Rugby Grille or Big Rock, etc., but just the right size for ladies. A variety of smaller plates available as well. Love the bread bowl and its dressings too! Price is reasonable, about $40-50/entree and $20ish small plates.

Service was less attentive though. Not that easy to get attention from my waitress and it wasn't busy! ...

Do not waste your time or money.  Fleming is always doing specials and the night I went it was packed.  I ordered a shrimp appetizer and it took a least 20 min to get to my table and it was overcooked.  The service was slow and the only way to any attention is I flagged down the manger.  Do Not go..  even if they are giving steaks away.

They have a Specialty Drinks Menu you may order from an array of drinks for $5 bucks. Then we got the Mushroom Ravioli & The Capprochio which both were AMAZING~ All under $15 dollars, WOW~ I'm telling ALL my friends & see you next week Flemings!!!

My husband and I went to Flemings for our anniversary on a recommendation from a friend.  She insisted that they were a great option for someone like Brian (with a gluten allergy), and she should know since she used to work there.

I could go on and on about how wonderful this restaurant was:

The food was excellent - as soon as our waiter heard about the gluten allergy he went back to the chef to discuss options.  When he returned, all he said was, "We've got something great for you - just trust me." Brian is not the type to leave someone else to ordering his food, but he took a chance and was not disappointed.  His meal consisted of three different steaks - all of which got rave reviews from Brian.   I ordered the small plate of lamb chops and a salad - both were excellent. We ended with the ice cream and fruit for Brian and the carrot cake for me - again both very good.

The service was impeccable.  Our waiter was fast, efficient, helpful, and attentive to details.  The chef came out after our meal to chat with Brian for a minute asking if everything met his standard.  The manager of the restaurant stopped by to check with us as well. The hostess with cordial both upon our arrival and as we departed. A cool thing they offer - when you make reservations online, they keep your information on file.  So before we left our waiter informed us that he would add Brian's food allergy to our file so it will be  noted each time we returned. Pretty cool!

The ambiance was lovely - this is a classy place to dine and makes for an obvious special occasion choice.

The price was not cheap, but for the level of service and all around quality - I'd say it is worth it.  It is not the type of restaurant Brian and I will be going to weekly, but certinly a place we will revisit from time to time.

    Overall, a nice choice!

Eh, good not great. Had the seafood tower appetizer, $25 a person. I would think that a "tower" would mean plenty of food but they were pretty stingy. Two very tiny lobster tails, a couple crab claws, and a few pieces of shrimp. They did make me a nice salsa when I asked though and my dad completely devoured the bread basket. Food was good but not spectacular. Probably won't be back.

Flemming's is another just okay restaurant. I admit, Im hard to impress, so perhaps you feel differently. I have only eaten here once and was not compelled to finish my meal, or return. The service was excellent, and the decor is very classy. I am not a huge lover of red meat so please go in and give the steak a try, disregarding my review. If you want creative food, this probably won't be your cup of tea.

The creme brulee is delicious! Perfect amount of caramelized sugar top layer and creme.  Berries sprinkled on top are a nice addition. The filet mignon was deliciously seasoned. The blue cheese roasted garlic mashed potatoes had a a gross brown sauce on them.  They are decent if you don't get them with the brown sauce.  Not a fan of the mashed potatoes overall.  The portion sizes of the sides should be larger considering the price.  The mixed drinks are well made.  No shortage on the alcohol content.

Good place for groups/private dining.  I went there for a work event.  There was a private group in the room next to us using a microphone.  It was a little loud and disruptive while we were conducting our meeting and listening to our presenters.  They have a projector for viewing presentations.  About two waiters were designated to serve our party of 13. Not sure if they charge fees for the room rental or projector.

This year, I took part in Biirrrrrrmingham's Restaurant Week by visiting Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.  Stick around until the end of this review and you're in for a treat with a really funny story that happened there.

The BRW meals were $30 and I decided to roll with the following:

Fleming's Salad - candied walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes, onions & croutons
Breast of Chicken baked in white wine mushroom, shallot & thyme sauce, served w/baby green beans
Dessert -- spoonful of raspberry sorbet with 2 chocolate truffles and a lemon type of truffle rolled in toasted coconut.

Upon entering, checking my coat and checking in (I made my reservation using Open Table) at the host podium, I was quickly seated. After I was seated and waiting for my fine dining partner, the server and server asst tended to my beverage needs (wine order & water). I ordered the Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay.

I indulged in their table bread (delving into my weekly allowance points with WW) which was served with a sun-dried tomato (?) butter and a chardonnay infused butter.
The salad was nice. It was exactly as described above. The croutons were not big cubes as one would expect... they were tiny flakes. Like crushed croutons, if you will.

The breast of chicken wasn't just a filet. It was attached to a lil leg. The sauce was a bit heavy for chicken, IMO. The baby green beans were nice.

The raspberry sorbet was delish. The chocolate truffle was rolled in what seemed like pure cocoa. When I bit into it, the cocoa went straight to the back of my throat and then my life played out before my eyes, as I thought i was going to choke half to death. Needless to say, I didn't eat the rest of it, nor did I touch the other. The 3rd truffle was delicious, though... it had a creamy, lemony taste to it and was rolled in toasted coconut. Their coffee smelled great, so i had a cup of it, as well.

The ambiance was intimate, as expected with a fine dining establishment. Dim lighting, wine bottles lined along the walls, etc.

The service was great. The staff worked cohesively and efficiently. Our dinner was under 2 hours (I know because parking is free for the first 2 hours, so we made a point to be in and out!). Speaking of parking, I wouldn't advise anybody to park at the meters out front -- the structure which is *right there* has plenty of parking, which of course, is free for the first 2 hours.

I had a great time. Flemings, let alone Birmingham is a bit hoity-toity for me, so I don't see myself strapping in for the ride out there on a casual day or evening out.  I doubt I'd be back for anything other than another Restaurant Week Event or other event-specific reason.

Okay, here's my funny story --

As we stood up to leave, the waitstaff and managers began to clap. We kinda slowed down and looked around to see if there was someone of significance walking behind us -- I was ready to clutch my pearls and say "For Meeee??", but nobody was really looking at us. We decided to casually walk on out and as we exited the dining room, we noticed a gold box on a table and flowers, etc... A couple had just gotten engaged! That's why they were all clapping.... hehe. I mean, I thought a flash mob was about to break out in there!

As I waited for my coat at the host station, I told the maitre 'd what went through my head and he laughed Lol. After I got my coat on and we said goodbye, everybody at the host station clapped for us!  Ha!

Visited Flemings during the holidays for my girlfriend's birthday. Heard decent things about this place (apparently they have a good Happy Hour Special) and admittedly would've chosen a different place to go for the BDay celebration, however I was the lucky recipient of $100 in Gift Cards from various clients to Flemings....so, Flemings was the choice.

Location is in downtown Birmingham. We went on a week night, however  it was busy due to the holidays so we had to wait 1/2 for our table...which wasn't a huge deal because we didn't mind grabbing a drink at the bar while we waited, except...it took approximately 1/2 hour to get our drink from the Bartender. Yes, I could see that he was busy, but he acknowledged us once and did not return. I tried to get his attention a few times, however it was to no avail. Finally, I rather firmly butted my way in and made my drink order....and it still took a long time to get to us! Not a great start to the evening.

Shortly after we received our drinks we were led to our table. Atmosphere is your typical, higher end steakhouse - Stuffy, nothing too out of the ordinary. Clientele was typical of upscale Birmingham - older, rich type people.

Our waitress was nice, but still a little slow on drink refills orders - Having worked in the restaurant business for many years, I was rather unimpressed with the service - although it wasn't terrible, I would call it so - so and not up to the standards of what a restaurant of this price range should be.

Food was Good, but un-inspiring. Bread given at the table was decent, but not as good as competitor restaurants (Capitol Grille IMO.) We had the Calamari app - It was delicious! We loved the sweet and spicy flavor.

For the main dish, we both ordered the Prime Ribeye cooked Med Rare - Very good. Not "Oh my god I have to have this every week good", but overall it was a good dish. My GF thought the amount of fat on it was ridiculous, esp for a restaurant of this caliber, but I didnt mind it. The Mac & Cheese and Flemings Potatoes sides were good too, however we would recommend just getting one side - two was overkill.

Dessert was unimpressive - we would've liked the chocolate lava cake, however the waitress told us it would take 15 minutes to make, so be ready for a wait (we wanted to get out of there) - Instead we ordered the Creme Brulee, which we still had to wait forever to get. It was decent but nothing special.

Overall, I would NOT go to Flemings again. It was too expensive for what we got. Food was good but un-inspiring, service was iffy and the atmosphere was stuffy. Not worth the price, and if spending $160 on a meal, I want it to be top notch!

I guess I value quality over appearance.

Flemings is exactly what it states in the title. A steak house and a wine bar. The night started out right with a delicious and pretty well priced Syrah. They have quite the extensive wine list, a definite plus in this wino's book ;)

Starters: Shrimp Cocktail. The cocktail sauce had a hint of chipotle and is infused with Grey Goose Vodka. Talk about a winning combo! My gripe? As with all shrimp cocktails, there's too little shrimp for the price. Also, the "jumbo" shrimp appear to have shrunken...they looked like normal shrimp to me...3 average shrimps all lonely on a plate of crushed ice...worth it? Maybe for the cocktail sauce. I guess.

For my entree I went with the Porcini rubbed Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola sauce and asparagus. I asked for medium rare and it was more medium. The meat didn't really seem like a filet to me...the cut had tendons and make it hard to cut...even with a steak knife. Usually filets are so tender and easy to cut. The side of Flemings Potatoes was a bit of a mediocre dish too. The potatoes weren't cooked long enough, so they were a bit crisp. The flavor of jalapeno was a nice combination with the baked cheese. What could have easily been a home run dish, fell short with the crispy potatoes.

The atmosphere is very nice. Tall ceilings, lots of dark beautiful wood booths and a very large dining area. The kitchen is somewhat exposed and very tastefully done. They have large bottles of wine all around, you can tell the owners are wine lovers.

The service was great and the dessert. Oh the dessert...creme brulee done to perfection. I'm going to go back another time in hopes this mediocre moment was a passing one and not their everyday standard.

I was at Fleming's recently for a work-related dinner presentation (I do HIV-related social work, so we sometimes attend dinner presentations sponsored by pharmaceutical companies). I had never been to Fleming's before, so I can only base my review on their private event abilities thus far.

First off, the cabernet they were serving was REALLY, REALLY good. I was impressed. I'm not overly fond of Michigan wine (don't get your panties in a wad; my native Californian nose and palate has a taste for Californian wine. MI wine is a bit too sweet), but this local wine was superb. And they kept it coming, which was even better!

The caesar dressing was AWESOME. Generally speaking, I don't like caesar dressing, but this one had a bit of a kick to it, and that gave it just the edge it needed. Definitely recommend it.

I ended up having the barbecue Scottish salmon. It was excellent. Cooked to perfection, with a tasty, crispy glaze. The salmon was of good quality, too. The sides - black peppercorn mashed potatoes and creamed spinach - were served family style. I adored both of the sides. I think I've mentioned before that I'm a mashed potato aficionado, and these were delish. The creamed spinach was TO DIE for. Seriously. I kinda wanted to Golem that ish and steal it away to some creepy cave, calling it "my precious."

For dessert, they served vanilla creme brulee. It was pretty good, but my favorite part was the fruit on top. It wasn't the best I've had, but I'd likely order it again as my dessert. It was appropriately fluffy yet heavy, and very creamy.

Overall, my experience at Fleming's was enjoyable!

The girls and I went to happy hour here. We were anticipating a young, trendy, upscale place, but instead we got a stuffy older environment. I think we were the only people in our 20s besides the employees.

There was a great martini special (I think it was $6 for a martini that is normally $12) so we definitely took advantage of that! But we were definitely not the only ones and sure enough they ran out of cocktail glasses! We had waiters circling like vultures, swooping in to confiscate our partially-finished drinks. And drink orders that were twenty minutes overdue because of the shortage of drinkware.

Once we got the drinks though, they were fabulous!! We ordered appetizers too (also on special) and those were awesome! The portions were huge!

The check ended up being reasonable because we had ordered all the happy hour specials. Had we not gotten the special, the prices would not have been worth it.

Overall this was a positive experience.

Also I should note that this place was walkable from a parking structure which offers two hours free parking. It was also walkable to the Birmingham palladium, where we went afterwards to catch a show. It was a good way to spend a Friday evening.

I went here because of their special between 5pm - 7pm.  half off of few of their food and drinks.  Well one of the meals that's half off is their Prime Steakburger.  It was $6  (Originally $12).  I would easily pay $12 for this hamburger.  I would probably pay $20.  It's that good.

The hamburger is made of buttery brioche buns, bacon, cheese, nice sized medium cooked patty, it might of had tomato and lettuce but I don't remember because the only thing I do remember is the amazing taste of the buns, burger and bacon that melts in your mouth.  I think the bacon was somewhat infused on top of the burger.  It was super delicious and I said after few bites. "This might be the best hamburger I have ever eaten".

It came with 2 huge onion rings that was amazing.  It came with a southwest dressing dip that I used for the burger even though I think it was for the onion rings.  It's really good.

So 5 stars just for the hamburger so far.  The service was top notch.  Very fancy decor inside.  You should dress up a bit to eat there.  I don't think it's a good place for wearing tank top and sandles after 7pm. I think 5pm to 7pm, they might not care how you dress.  It's a pricey restaurant if you don't get the special.  I think it's only open for dinner.  Good place overall.

I've eaten at Flemings a couple times and each time was great.  The first time we were there, I had a filet my husband had a seafood dish... both excellent.

My husband and I recently went in for the steak and seafood deal and it was perfect!

    This is what we received:
    * Two 6-ounce Filets
    * Two Australian Lobster Tails
    * Two Chopped Wedge Salads
    * Fleming's Potatoes
    * Sugar Snap Peas
    * Chocolate Mousse with Hazelnut Bark for two

For a fixed $99 price (not sure if they still do this, I just dug up the email of the deal to write the fixed menu).  The steak was sooo good, the lobster even better!!  The staff was so attentive even for a busy Thursday night and it was our anniversary so they gave us special chocolate covered strawberries in a Flemings box... plus the dessert included in the deal.

The first time I went to Fleming's was for the "Taste of Birmingham" event, when you get to try a fixed price menu and restaurants you can't usually afford.  Even though we were there on that menu, they treated us like we were kings.  It was that night that made up my mind that it was worth it to pay a little more to get top notch service and food.

The side dishes come in family style and the macaroni and cheese was a highlight.  One in our group got the pork and it was juicy and perfectly seasoned.  The filets we had were cooked to perfection save for my one friend.  When the manager saw that hers wasn't cooked properly, he whisked it away and offered her a shot of Cabo Wabo tequila while she waited.  The waitress was very good with the wine list, helping us make an impeccable decision on what is now my favorite bottle of wine.

Fleming's is also a great spot for a glass of wine after the movies.  They have a bar menu (selections from the menu) and the full wine list, along with a full bar in the bar section.  A very swanky way to end the evening.

ooooooo Fleming's. I wish it had a different name....Flem, Phelgm(sp?)...kinda gross...also I was wondering if this was going to a faux steakhouse like this guys famous PF Changs chains. I could start a Chinese place too-SMB Xinglings. So authentic.

Anyway, it was a Thursday night and decently busy and I was there with the husbands family so the waiter kissed our ass since 8 people=HUGE tip. He kept like trying to explain the wine list to me, which was nice, but in no way did I need him to do that, but how do you say, "Uh, I used to work at 220, I know my wines..." ? I ordered a cheaper glass, and it was decent, but acidic but all reds are these days.

The black napkins on my cheap as hell dress pants were my favorite. If the lady only knew me, she would know there was zero reason for me to not have a white napkin. I felt so poshy and dbaggy for even being there, especially on a Thursday...it pry wasn't as crowded as they were hoping the place would be.

Ok, so the free stuff comes out and it was a good cheese spead with crostini's and celery. With it being called a steakhouse that is what I decided to order...a filet medium. Oh I did have a ceasar sald first which was ok, I have had better ceasars in my life-at 220. The lettuce wasn't old and they did put plenty of parm on thou...

The fliet was very good, but my bro and law and I realized the dumbasses mixed up our steaks because he said his was good but slightly overcooked and I was like, 'son of a bitch...' anyway, still good flavor and good quality meat and even better when I didn't have to pay for it.

Sides-HUGE. The asparagus was good. I didn't have any of the shoestring potatoes because by the time it got around to me, everyone had been reaching in with their hands..family or not, still gross. The baked potato was massive, but I didn't have any of that either, but everyone said it was great! The mac and cheese=MUY fabulous! I would go there just for that, and gladly used my carb calories on that instead of poatoes. Creamy, cheesy and a perfect flavor of not being so rich you feel like you will puke.

I was feeling like a fat whompus so I didn't order dessert. However, the choclate lava cake and cheesecake did look great and everyone said it was. Again, I would go there for a dessert and a glass of wine after a movie for sure or something.

I would definatley go back, but don't see it being in the budget anytime soon....

I have been to Fleming's a few times and have to give it mixed reviews.

I usually get the salmon. At  times it has been inedible and very gamey.  The steaks are hit or miss but when they are the former, they are  juicy, and tender .  Salads are good.  The Caesar has fresh romaine, a nice amount of  parmesan,  but the croutons are the cheap, stale ones.    Desserts are good.  They are at their best when they are garnished with fresh fruit.  Service is average or below.  It took way too long to get dinner last time - approx. 1hr.

2.5 stars.  Rounded down be cause I remember more negative than positive things.

Don't use the valet.  There is a parking structure right behind the restaurant with the first two hours free.

I am a skeptic, what can I say?

But what I do love is when a place proves me wrong. I went there last night for a friends birthday dinner and I was under the impression that this was just "another steakhouse."

Boy was I wrong.  I have NEVER had a filet as tasty as this one, and I have had A LOT of filets in my day. Order it medium and you will get the perfect amount of juices with their seasoning that satiates any meat lovers palate.

Someone coming to the table every 5 minutes to let us know that they were so pleased we came to dine at their establishment was a little much, but none the less, it was kind of endearing.

Their sides are ala carte. We got three and had PLENTY to split between five people. May I recommend the gorgonzola mashers and creamed spinach??

Oh, the zinger... it's a "black napkin" place. What this means is that if you are wearing black or a dark color they will offer you a black napkin so the white napkin doesn't rub off on your clothes. Never knew places did that.., I guess it makes sense.

Valet is available, but a little tricky with the construction right now.. oh, and it's 6 bucks. Birmingham, when will you learn this isn't New York?

But, just like New York, I can't wait to go back...
