We have eaten at the Greensboro Fleming's at least 15-20 times by now; both at the bar and in the main dining area. Â I have never had anything but wonderful service and wonderful food. Â I also love the look of the inside space AND I really love the music they play in the background (think Jack Johnson, Wilco, Avett Brothers). Â
The joint is pricey; definitely one of the most expensive places in Greensboro to dine. Â But as I said above, I've never had anything but a top-notch experience, so I can justify the expense as a special splurge. Â When in the dining room, my husband and I usually split a steak and a salad and a side or two and it is more than enough food for the two of us. Â I've never felt any negativity from the servers about splitting a steak; they just bring an extra plate and we divvy it up. Â They will also go ahead and split the salads onto 2 plates (have to get the same salad obviously). Â Lately my husband always orders the tuna appetizer, which again, is pricey, but it is the best seared tuna I've ever had. Â We've gotten it three times and it is a very consistent dish. Â
Last time we ate at Flemings, we took my parents for their anniversary and we splurged (pricey on top of pricey - ouch!) on the seafood tower. Â The seafood tower is both magically delicious (assuming one likes shellfish) AND beautifully presented. Â You order it by the person (2 or more). Â We ordered for 3 and 5 of us had plenty to eat, especially with salads, sides and steaks to follow. Â
The bar dining offers some better deals, particularly the 5 for 6 til 7, which gets tweaked occasionally and is not quite as good as a deal when compared to a few years ago, but hey, it's still a pretty darn good deal! Â The $6 cheeseburger is an astoundingly good deal and a delicious burger worth a much higher price point. Â Note that these deals are only good to 7pm (every night). Â BUT, thanks to NC's ban on Happy Hours, the $6 drink menu is all night long. Â
We usually also save at least a little by getting these $25 gift cards by reserving online. Â When I told our server it was my parents' anniversary and could they get a box of the (free) house-made chocolate truffles, he brought them out with one of those nifty $25 gift cards nestled inside the bow. Â Score! Â So, you can find some deals here and there. Â
All in all, a solid recommendation from Junebug to check out the Fleming's in Greensboro. Â And, if you aren't up for a fancy choco lava cake after your meal, you can burn off some calories walking over to the Ben & Jerry's to eat ice cream and people watch after your meal.
We arrived at the steakhouse a little early cause we were all hungry.. me and my partner's parents. Â They did invite us to sit within the bar area, which was dimly lit which was okay. Â We had an awesome bartender/waitstaff that immediately came over and greeted us with water and took our beverage order. Â I had the blood orange mimosa.. (rather tasty). Â Once he took our order, 3 prime rib dinners and one bbq salmon. Â The salads came quick, but the entree's took about 45 minutes to hr. Â Given the fact that it was Mother's Day. I understand. Â However, the entree's came out cold, but the side dishes were hot and delicious. Â Mac and Cheese, Creamed Spinach and Flemings Potatoes. Â

I am shocked to see so many positive ratings after so much went so wrong with our dinner last night. Â We eat at this restaurant in many other cities and it's nearly always flawless. Â Let's face it, this place is NOT cheap, so expecting stellar service is not unreasonable.
My drink was awful and had to be sent back. Â Trying to keep things simple, Â I ordered a Patron silver over crushed ice, lemons and limes on the side. Â I am still waiting for the lemons as of this writing and it was on cubed ice. Â I am specific when I order a drink and this order is not a difficult one. Â I figured after the initial drink tasted so bad, how could they mess up my next request? Â
The salads were brought out.  One problem:  One was supposed to be a Caesar and the other a wedge, no blue cheese, substitute  another dressing.  They brought out 2 wedge salads with the blue cheese.  It took a minute to flag down the waiter and it was quickly corrected.  At this point we looked at each other as if it was some kind of bad dream!  We really laughed at this point! Â
My prime New York was very flavorful! Â A little tougher than a steak should be, but very yummy. Â I asked for horseradish sauce on the side but it never arrived! Â
This is not typical of this restaurant and I hope an isolated incidence. Â What a shame because it's normally right on point! Â It was NOT a good experience, overall. Â We all walked out kind of shaking our heads.....
There were so many things right about this place; I think that the easiest way for me to write this review would be to make a list of all the things I loved about Flemings in the order in which I experienced them.
1. Â Open Table reservations
2. Â The friendly greeting we got at the door (including a compliment on the dress I was wearing from the very outgoing hostess)
3. Â Our outstanding server (I think his name was Victor)
4. The extensive beer and wine selections
5. Â The bread with herbed butter/feta
6. Â The baked brie
7. Â The shoestring fries and onion rings
8. Â The sauteed green beans (of which I am not typically a fan, in general)
9. Â The ribeye (regular and bone-in)
10. Â The chipotle cheddar macaroni and cheese
11. Â The chipotle cheddar macaroni and cheese
12. Â The chipotle cheddar macaroni and cheese (Seriously, it was that good.)
We were very dressed up when we came in, but there were people here who were in jeans. Â The service and the staff here was so warm and welcoming that I think they would make anyone feel comfortable here. Â Everything that we tried was delicious, and I really can't thank our server enough for how wonderful he was. Â (If anyone from Fleming's reads this, we were in on December 16th, and my fiance was in his Naval dress uniform. Â Please pass on our compliments to our server!) Â I know this is a chain, but it never felt that way. Â I hope that Fleming's in other areas live up to these standards!
I've been to Flemings twice, once because my husband took me out for our anniversary last year, and last night for the Prime Rib Sunday dinner. To begin with, the prime rib dinner special is a deal! We each got a salad of our choice, a large prime rib cooked beautifully, a side dish, and choice of dessert.
The Flemings salad was wonderful with its candied walnuts and dried cranberries. I also loved the lemon balsamic dressing that comes on it. I got the side of Flemings potatoes (scalloped potatoes with cheese, cream, and a hint of jalapeño). They were fantastic and not spicy at all (even though I love spicy). My husband ordered the chipotle mac and cheese and it was so rich and yummy. It was a great adult twist on a classic kids dish. For dessert, he ordered the lava cake and I ordered fresh fruit with homemade whipped cream. The fruit was yummy and light, since I had eaten my entire prime rib. The lava cake was wonderful- chocolately and not overly sweet, with crushed pistachios, and these little pistachio dessert crepes.
In the past, I've eaten the lobster tempura (yummy) and the rack of lamb (best I've ever eaten). In fact, I was licking my fingers clean after the lamb!
The service is impeccable. Your glasses are always full, food is always delivered promptly, and the staff is attentive without being annoying.
A nice plus? When we went for our anniversary last year, they took a picture of us and gave it to us to take home. It was a fantastic photo and we still have it up in our house. And better yet, the sent us home with a box of homemade truffles, which my husband let me have all to myself. And they were fantastic!
This place is pricey, which my husband is not keen on, but if you are willing to drop over $100 (for two) for good food, this place is great for a special occasion. Or go for prime rib and get great good and great service for half the price!
We really enjoyed our evening at Fleming's, and the service was impeccable. We really liked the Fleming's potatoes we had, too. The steaks were good, but I have to take a star off for the price. For that price, I really wanted the steaks to be fantastic, the most amazing steak I have ever had. And they were just really good. Also, it was a bit too dark inside, which almost made it hard to eat! But overall, a really good experience.
Review Source:My husband and I enjoy coming here. The service is typically pretty good. I don't eat beef, but I find good alternatives every visit. The last two times here, we ordered several appetizers and sides, which were brought out on a large platter, and we LOVED it. I think we ordered the calamari (great), shrimp (good last time, a little spicy this time), spinach, corn, asparagus (huge stalks), etc...My sister and hubby said the short ribs were delicious. My stepdaughter liked the scallops. And the carrot cake is great. If you're allergic to nuts and typically stay away from it, DON'T...it's the only carrot cake we've seen prepared without nuts. Â Yummy!
Review Source:I have been to Flemings a couple of times, and I usually sit at the booths near the bar. I love that this restaurant is dimly lit. Very romantic, and feels private. The bartender has been our waiter/waitress on both occassions, and they do a great job. Other waitstaff are always stopping by to take plates, refill glasses etc.
We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, and they were really good. They were served on a spicy sauce and it reallly complimented the crab. I can not remember exactly what we got for entrees, but I do know that mine was a fliet prepared a special way, and it is always on the menu. It came served on 4 small asparagus spears. I guess the sides are ala carte...but noone has told me this, so I can only assume the sides are in fact sides - and not garnish.
The food is delicious. I have not gotten anything here that I did not like. The waitstaff is really great, and the mood of the restaurant is classy.
Flemings is definately a 5 star restaurant, but the portions are really small - and this place is not cheap. It is worth the money, especially for a special occassion, but I can not see eatting here regularly for the price of what you get.
Five stars for service alone! Â Food is probably 4+.
Now that Chop House is closed, if you want to get a great steak in the Triad, you have no other choice but Fleming's. Â The steaks I've had here have been perfectly cooked every time. Â I've tried the bone-in ribeye, the boneless ribeye, and the filet. Â All have been fantastic. Â The Fleming's potatoes are genius! Â Imagine fresh scalloped potatoes with little bits of jalapeno mixed within. Â Not enough to make the dish spicy, but enough to impart a silly amount of flavor that you've never tasted before from a jalapeno. Â
The mac and cheese is pretty good, as is the creamed spinach. Â The bread is very good, but I do wish they'd just bring me some butter. Â I don't need champagne or exotic cheeses mixed into my butter. Â I just need some good Irish butter with my bread. Â
Service really is impeccable here. I challenge anyone to find better service anywhere in the Triad. Â It's so good, you won't want to leave. Â It really drives home how bad service has gotten over the past several years, even at nice. . . I mean. . .expensive restaurants.
My favorite thing about Fleming's besides the service is they don't take a very expensive piece of USDA Prime and serve it on a FLAMING 500 DEGREE skillet or plate so it can overcook at your table THE ENTIRE TIME you're rushing to finish it. Â Anyone willing to drop money on a steak at a place like that needs their head checked. Â
I'll definitely be back at Fleming's.
I have been to Fleming's for dinner, birthdays, gatherings and etc. Â I have to say that the food is good, not great, but good. Â If you want great head over to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Â
What makes this place so great is the service. Â The waitstaff have actually created an art form with the way they interact, observe and take note of little things. Â For example, I have never ran out of a drink here. Â Water, alcohol, beer....NOTHING! Â They really pay attention to your needs before you actually NEED them. Â You don't find service like this at many places today.
Prime Rib is served ONLY on Sunday nights here so if you are looking for Prime Rib you know what night to go.
I haven't had a problem with my steak temperature or anything coming out from the kitchen cold. Â If you haven't tried this place, please do. Â It's a rare find in GSO.
Our experience there last night simply reinforces my opinion that the service here is among the best I've ever encountered - in any city, at  any time. We went in early, around 5:30 to have a drink, and perhaps dinner a little later.
We relaxed, had  a couple of drinks, decided to eat there at the bar, placed our order - Bone-in Ribeye, plain Baked Potato  with butter on the side, and a Fleming's Salad - wine was alreay decanted. Just at that moment, my youngest son walked up, had been shopping nearby, recognized our car in front, and stepped in to say hi. Â
He stayed, standing, at our table for probably 20 minutes talking. Nothing was served during this time, our wine was topped off - the wait staff had noticed our visitor, put the steak on hold, held the salad back, until my son left, he had other plans. They then quickly brought the salad, pushed the steak order ahead - all so we were not not  rushed  in our conversation - as thoughtful a reaction as I've ever encountered. Ask for Robert or Kenny at the bar, it doesn't get any better.
The Ribeye was excellent - I highly recommend it. They occassionally have a Bone-in Strip Steak that is not your Daddy's Strip - go for it as well.
Tonight was my first and last visit. Â The staff was excellent!! No complaints with the service of any of the staff. Â Prime rib was the special for Sunday night and is what we decided to order. Â I chose a loaded baked potato as a side. Â The cut of prime rib we were served was more fat than actual meat. Â It was horrible. Â The potato was loaded with grease more so than anything else. Â I would not have served that cut of meat to anyone. Â Maybe it was just a fluke, but it was not even satisfactory. Â Not at all what I expected.
Review Source:I went in for my monthly Fleming's fix, and from the moment I walked through the door the service was excellent. Â The hostess asked me my name and then she remarked that she remembers me and asked if my wife would be joining me (they thought my friend was my wife and I didn't correct them). Â She then introduced me to the waiter by name. Â This led to me feeling old, because it was Mr. Coleman from then on. Â Beyond that, the service was impeccable. I ordered my usual, the New York Strip (medium well) and green beans. A-mazing! I love this place. The atmosphere is inviting and I've never seen one kid in this place. I was hoping they banned kids. If so, I would give them 6 stars.
Review Source:We did our wedding rehearsal dinner in one of their private rooms and got rave reviews from everyone in attendance. Â The staff was extremely helpful and professional. Â Really going above and beyond and learning little things to make the evening special.
The food was terrific - with steaks being cooked correctly, and the chicken - which was said to be the best ever eaten, really standing up to the hype.
We will be back to enjoy flemings more and plan to make this a regular for special occasions.
Two stars for this place for two reasons. Â One, the waiter/waitress we had the two times we came here were great. Â Two, the food was very good. Â However, a good server and food could not make up for all the troubles I had to deal with the two times we tried this establishment. Â Frankly, I have never been to a restaurant where the staff started to know me by name after just one visit. Â This was not because of my compliments but because of my numerous complaints.
Our first night was ruined with a horrible Hostess who was very unaccommodating for a vegetarian in our party for religious reasons. Â Yes, we know we went to a steakhouse but they had a vegetarian option listed on their website. Â However, the vegetarian option is only available at the bar. Â When I inquired how our friend could be served this option, I was told this meal was not available at our table and our friend would have to leave our table and eat by herself at the bar. Â She said this was restaurant policy. Â I could not believe this. Â The Hostess then said she believed there was a vegetarian menu and she would bring it to our table. Â The Hostess did not come by our table and I had to raise the issue again to our server who said the Chef would be able to prepare something for our friend. Â Basically, our friend ate a hodge podge of a bunch of their sides. Â In addition, the Chef tried to make up for this by giving us some free appetizers. Â This was a nice gesture but the staff placed the big plate of meat/seafood in front of our vegetarian friend which furthered perturbed me.
The restaurant also did not honor the promotion on their site for $25 off from our check because our reservation was not made online. Â Again this was an issue with the same Hostess. Â I told her I called in a reservation for 9 because their website would not allow an online reservation for a party larger than 6. Â The Hostess told me that there was nothing she could do about the promotional offer because it was not in the system and it was too late.
Unfortunately, I had to return to this place for a second time because a friend of ours wanted his going away party to be here.
This time one of our friends had red wine poured down his back. Â The waitress/assistant did not even own up to this error and I had to get the General Manager to address this before we left the restaurant. Â Honestly, is it even possible for a person to spill wine down his own back when he was drinking whiskey to begin with???
Also on our second trip to this "restaurant", I informed that horrible Hostess that we were celebrating a friend's business achievement and I provided his name. Â Toward the end of the meal, the servers came over and sang Happy Birthday to our friend and butchered his name beyond belief. Â I just laughed in utter amazement at how "business achievement" turned into "Happy Birthday." Â Also they took our picture and said they would give us a copy on our way out for our memories. Â Of course, this did not occur. Â
I did not want to give this restaurant a second chance and I was just as disappointed the second time around. Â I will not be back here. Â I'd sooner eat at McDonald's. Â I enjoy fine dining and have worked in a fine dining restaurant for several years. Â This IS NOT fine dining.
Ah--mazing! Though I was not expecting the prices to be THAT high, I got a small plate because I was not overly hungry. Â My dad did as well, the ahi tuna, while I got the steak kabob. Â Not only is the steak tender and juicy, the gorgonzola cheese dipping sauce really made the dish complete. Â I enjoyed the tomato and mozzarella salad that came on the side as well. Â My dad's dish was also good but I think the cheese sauce could not have been beat. Â If you go, ask if they still have it, you won't regret it!
Review Source:I don't think I will find a steakhouse that makes a better steak than Fleming's. Â The meat is so tender that you could slice through it with a butter knife.
The appetizers, sides, and desserts are delicious and the wine list impressive. Â I've never ordered anything that I wasn't absolutely amazed with. Â The staff is attentive, professional, and courteous.
The only con is the price, which is well worth it for a special occasion. Â My husband and I dine at Fleming's for every anniversary and we look forward to that meal all year.
Incredible food and service!
I took my dad here for his 60th birthday. Â From the moment we walked through the door the service was excellent. Â The hostess asked me my name and then talked about the origin, etc. Â She then introduced us to the waiter by name. Â This led to the first time I have ever been called by name (Mr. and Mrs. Â ______) at a restaurant. Â Beyond that, the service was great. Â Our water was kept topped off without interruption to our conversation, and he checked on us enough, but not to the point of annoyance.
To the food.
My dad had the main filet, my mom had the Cobb salad with filet, and I had the Porcini rubbed filet. Â Everyone's steak was cooked perfectly, and it was possibly the best steak I have ever had. Â The potato sides we had (mashed and baked) were very good, with generous portions (relative to other restaurants - not price)
While we sat in a booth tucked away in the corner, it appeared the tables down on the main dining room floor were slightly crowded, but that may be the only con for this restaurant.
Obviously it is high priced, but it is worth the money for a special occasion. Â Unfortunately it's not somewhere I will be able to frequent, but definitely an enjoyable experience.
Last night, my friends took me to Fleming's as a going-away dinner for my permanent move to Brooklyn. The experience was spot on, and everything was perfect from the service to the food to the atmosphere! We went on a Sunday night because it's the only night they serve Prime Rib (and it's my favorite), which they serve as a meal with a salad, a side, and dessert. I got the wedge salad with my Prime Rib meal, and I ordered potatoes for my side. If you've been to Fleming's, you know their sides are large enough to share, so everyone in our party of 7 got a different side so we could share... and they were all yummy! Our collection included Fleming's potatoes (like scalloped potatoes), asparagus, green beans, creamed spinach, onion rings, and fries... oh, did I fail to mention they had to wheel us all out of there? =) As you might guess, we all enjoyed our desserts as well. I got the chocolate lava cake, and it was creamy and decadent!
Review Source:Yes, i know its a chain - but whats not to love about a fantastic steak and a great wine list!
The wine list boasts of 100 wines by the glass and it has some excellent choices.  Quite a few are higher price wines that you only see on the bottle lists - so it is great to try those by the glass before buying the  bottle (Orin Swift's "The Prisoner" was awesome!).  The list has quality wines at all price levels which really impresses!
Only had the steaks here - but they are so good, I can't seem to try anything else. Â The main Filet is 12oz and the Petit Filet is 8oz - both great cuts and very flavorable. Â The kitchen does an excellent job on the temperature - each time mine and others were cooked perfectly. Â
The sides are typical "steak house" side - potatoes in various ways, onion rings, spinach, etc....but are all very good quality and excellently prepared.
Lastly - the service is very impressive each time i have been there. Â Your water glasses are kept full and plates removed when finished - and you barely know that they are there. Â The servers are excellent in knowing the menu and are very attentive but not bothersome.
Great place for a quality steak and wine list in Greensboro!
Yummy! Expensive, but worth every single penny.
First off, they are very good about asking if you have been here before, and if not explaining how they work. You order your meat individually, and then share sides family style. Being an upscale steak house their meat is AMAZING (dare I say, amazeballs? or maybe even awesomesauce...) and they do an excellent job of cooking it exactly to your liking. There's nothing worse then ordering a fillet medium rare and having it come out medium. here, they know how to do it just right.
Sides are all delicious, im fairly sure ive tried most of them and have yet to be disappointed. I was here once with a couple that were on a gluten-free diet and they were very accommodating.
I also have to give them kudos because i went here the night after my college graduation and our waiter overheard it being mentioned, and at the end of the meal gave me an adorable box of truffles along with a congrats note signed by the owner. A very nice personal touch.
Flemings is NOISY & Expensive. Â Backstory: We received a $50 gift card in the mail. Â It seems that the appeal is expensive ala'cart steak in an environment where those around you can see you spending money. Â There are far too many tables and the kitchen is way noisy. Â The food was either excellent or mediocre (both extremes)-- we actually had 3 attempts at warm mashed potatoes and failed. Â The wait staff was attentive and the manager comped the potatoes (rightly so) and dessert. Â The pork chop was delicious and I was not ashamed to gnaw on the bone. Â The scallops were prepared to a distinct level of excellence. Â While dessert was ok. Â The Village Tavern is equally priced and their desserts are out of this world. Â Be prepared to not be able to hear your date on the weekends & Sunday is the best deal with prime rib, appetizer & dessert for $36 pp
Review Source:The restaurant is very pricey. But hey! You would really get what you pay for. Great service and couldn't ask for anything more. Great wine selections. Sweet chili calamari was for appetizer and it turned out to be a delight. We had rib eye steaks and they were juicy and tender. Oven broiled so no dark burn lines on the steak. The grilled asparagus was crispy and lightly salted and the sauteed mushroom complimented the steak. And of course with a glass of red wine the meal became sumptuous. Don't miss the lava cake for desert, they are really oozing with goodness! Try the cheesecake, too. you won't get disappointed. If you have money to spend for a wonderful dinner.... head on to Fleming's!
Review Source:I love a good premium steakhouse, and Fleming's is one of the better chains out there. Â The Greensboro location does not disappoint, with attentive service, delicious entrees and a great atmosphere. Â
The majority of the menu is served a la carte, but there are occasional specials, which makes what can be a rather pricey dining experience a little less taxing.
I was really impressed with my ribeye. Â The meat was so tender I didn't even need the bearnaise sauce. Â The fries and onion rings were prepared fresh in the restaurant and were almost perfect. Â The molten lava cake is outstanding. Â Did I mention that they make a mean mojito? Â or the herbed butter? Â You just gotta try this place.
Do yourself a favor one night when you feel like splurging and check the place out. Â Better yet, get your significant other to take you and have them pay the bill! Â In any event, you shouldn't pass this place up.
David R. states everything correct on the food, let me tell you about groups.
Frankly, I have been rather let down with upper priced establishments lately from Sullivan's to Del Frisco's but this place? Tops!
I had a group of 14 people.
Requested a reservation and Misti assisted. End result.
A nice private room
A full wait staff that was beyond professional and experienced
Food? Ok 100% of the items were cooked to order, drinks made to order. All 14 people raved about the place, the food, the atmosphere, and the service.
Not only was professionalism abound, but each individual was personally thanked for the business upon leaving, then to top it off was the next day. I received an email from Misti once again thanking us and wishing all well!!!
Darn! I cannot remember the last time I dropped a large tab and had follow-up!
I will return when in Greensboro both as a personal stop and for sure if I have groups.
Top notch folks! Ask for Misti if you have a group and provide an advanced one week reservation.
I have heard so many negative reviews about this place from my close friends... Â we really took our time to go check it out... the main complaints were: pricey, small portions, ok flavor - and to say the least... stick to Ruth Chris..... BOY WERE THEY/I WRONG....
FLEMING'S ROCKS! It's delicious, prices are about $30 for a steak (everything is a la carte) but my god... this place has ALL other steakhouses beat! The service, the ambiance, Â the food, the desserts.... the wines........ ahhh.... just so damn good.... so do yourself a favor and if you have been swayed by bad reviews PLEASE go check it out... it is outstanding!
